We came to Fogo De Chau to celebrate Father's Day and found out that they had the taste of Brazil deal. Service: 5/5 It was definitely a busy day since the World Cup was playing and it was the Saturday before Father's Day. We made a reservation for 7:30pm and it took about 30 minutes for us to get seated even with our reservation. Once we got seated, I was worried that the food would take a while since there were so many tables, but the carvers were really good about coming by our table with the meats. Our server, Kelsey, was also amazing. She kept asking what else we needed and when we asked for specific meats, she made sure those carvers came to our table. Food: 5/5 Despite the busyness of the restaurant, the meats were hot and plentiful. The cheese bread was a table favorite, and our favorite cuts of meats were the picante, sausage, and bacon wrapped steak. The salad bar had a lot of great options like salad, fresh fruits, and charcuterie items too, but the staff couldn't stock it in time. We are so much and we're so full after after our meal. Ambiance: 5/5 This place with its high ceilings, beautiful bar, open kitchen rotisserie, and fresh fruit lined salad bar, it certainly feels like an upscale restaurant. One of the coolest thing about here is when you're waiting in line, they had waiters come out and give us samples of their meats. Price: 5/5 They are not publicly advertising this, but for the month of June they are doing Taste of Brazil which is $54 per person as opposed to their normal $79 per person. In addition to that, you can also purchase gift cards from Sam's Club that is $80 for $100. For our family of four, the total came out to less than $45 per person after tip and tax. How disappointing. I genuinely was so excited to come here for father's day to celebrate my grandfather. I have been here sooooo many times and I have only had positive experiences. What a sh*t show for father's day. I understand it's a holiday but for a restaurant that is on the upper price range y'all need to figure out your reservation system better. People were waiting outside for a long time even though they had reservations. (i.e. 40+ minutes.) genuinely horrible. Imagine you are bringing someone here for the first time, telling them how amazing it is and then have this happen to you. well that was my reality, very mortifying. We basically had to fight our way to a table. otherwise we would've been waiting outside for a long time. I don't know what happened here genuinely. If you are gonna try this place don't go on a holiday. They overbook this place and i feel as though they aren't staffed properly to fit the volume of people that are waiting. food was so disappointing, as in the same 2 meats were rotating for the majority of the time we were there I felt like a parrot asking for specific meats to come out. and I feel as though the quality of the meat has plummeted down since the last time ive been here. Silver lining was that there was other parties around us that felt the same way so it wasn't just an isolated incident with our party. once again, this was so embarrassing on my part for the fact that I would always rave about this place to my family and we ended up with the experience that we had today. I've wanted to try this place ever since the chain came to America. Having eaten in churrascarias in Sao Paolo, I was looking forward to reliving the experience. What a letdown! Even the more modest restaurants in Brazil were FAR better than this place, which is overrated and overpriced. The details: * As has often been mentioned on Yelp, the service at this Pasadena location is HORRIBLE. Even the guy who checks people in and takes them to their tables would often disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time. At one point, there were no fewer than 15 people crammed between the front door and the reservation desk, even on a Thursday evening. I can only imagine how much worse it gets on weekends. * The servers were no better. Both of our friends' drink orders finally arrived about three-fourths of the way through our meal, even though it was a simple glass of Cabernet and a Rum & Cola. We repeatedly asked for the medium-rare lamb and were told, "Oh, it's coming; just wait a few minutes." THIRTY MINUTES LATER, it finally arrived. Additionally, many of the 'gauchos' had accents so thick we could not understand what food they were trying to serve us. * Speaking of the food -- the main reason to try this place -- it was, in a word, substandard. The cuts of meat were tough and gristly, and in every case, dry and overcooked. Almost everything that was served to us was well done, which, for a steakhouse, is a criminal offense. * The only bright spot was the authentic pao de queijo (just as we remembered it from Brazil) and a crunchy polenta side dish. Everything else? Meh. Even the salad bar at the venerable Chart House restaurants is better than this. Considering the value for the price paid, plus the plethora of choices in Los Angeles if one wants some meat for dinner, I cannot recommend ever going to Fogo de Chao. We came here tonight to celebrate my birthday and I definitely enjoyed the service, ambiance, and of course the FOOD It was my parent's and I's first time and it's my sister first time also at this location. We made a reservation and was sat right away. Our server was Matheus. He was good when we were sat but was not very good at checking in on us. We also had to ask and follow up on chimichurri and other things as well because it was taking awhile to get what we asked for. Other than that the other servers were AMAZING. The ones serving the meats, and getting our plates out the way was very attentive. The food was so good, the meat was flavorful and not dry at all. My parents were addicted to the pork belly with lime and honey. I loved all the meats that I got and when we ordered desserts we got the molten lava cake, tres leches, and crème brûlée cheesecake. Since it's my birthday they asked me which one I was most interested in and I said the cheesecake and the waiter came back with a happy birthday written on it, a candle, and when we paid we saw that it was a complimentary dessert which we were so grateful for. Beautiful space overall, the interior is really well done. The market table stood out the most for me, especially the Brazilian sides that paired nicely with the meats. The ribeye was our favorite, flavorful and satisfying, and the lamb was also enjoyable, not gamey at all. That said, the meats were a bit inconsistent. A lot of the cuts came out more on the medium well to well done side, and a few pieces were overly seasoned, leaning too salty and a little tough. Probably one of the best Fogo locations out there. I've been to a lot of them and this one stands out above the rest. The energy, the service, the kitchen and the meat stand are all amazing. I see Fogo expanding and bringing the beefy Brazilian influence to Rancho Cucamonga, and soon to West Covina, and it pleases me the way a medium rare steak and whisky would please Ron Swanson. We are turning the tide on the campaign to vegify our diets, and we are doing it with grace and class. Bravo, Fogo de Chão! The Pasadena Fogo came on the scene with swagger and confidence. The dining room is massive, sleek, sexy and puts all the focus on the bar and the beef. The house is always packed and for good reason. You get an amazing dining experience here. Last night my book club celebrated the birthday of two of its longtime members. We grubbed out to a parade of finenmeats and toasted through four bottles of wine. From the best lamb chops anywhere, to fantastic, tender filet mignon, ribeye and sirloin, to a picanha any brasilero would be proud of. This location is a cut above. Best of Brazil? I'd say that's false advertising right there. We bought the promotion expecting the best, and got the "worst" adjacent. Wow. Beginning at the front, our host was indifferent, disorganized and in over his head. Once seated, our server took our drink orders which we waited for 20 minutes to receive. The ambiance was good, full of people celebrating one thing or another but they certainly weren't celebrating the food, or if they were, they must have ordered off the menu, and not "The Best of Brazil." The meats were dry and overdone, and I suspect that the bacon-wrapped chicken was heated up from the day before; it was so dry and tasteless. The bottom sirloin was all gristle and virtually inedible. The promotion of the "Best of Brazil" listed a whole selection of meats we were never offered: top sirloin, pork chop, pork belly, parmesan pork, or something their promotion lists as queijo assado (blistered cheese with honey). We specifically asked for it, and our server said she'd never heard of it. I want a refund! The only delicious part was the Pao de queijo, (cheese bread), fried polenta and mashed potatoes. The touted salad bar was average. What a massive disappointment. We wanted to treat our friends to a special dinner in thanks for everything they've done for us since our house burned down. Our server was prompt, professional and accommodating with our order. We all tried the 'Best Of' menu. Picanha, lamb, top sirloin, mashed potatoes, cheesy bread bites, pork belly with a dash of honey - KEEP IT COMING. From the bar, olives, street corn, fresh mozzarella - MORE, PLEASE. Great service, great food. Good times. Now, the wonderful manager Michelle. Been with the company 10.5 years and represented FdC with grace, professionalism and a luminous smile. We celebrated my brother's birthday at Fogo De Chao in Pasadena. It was massive. They have an older building in Pasadena. The architecture and design was so beautiful. I love how they kept that Pasadena Charm! We went during brunch time so it was $57 pp or $77 pp if you wanted the Indulgent Churrasco option. Lunch would be $55 or $75 pp and Dinner is $78 or $98 pp. They also have a Happy Hour option if you don't want to do the Churrasco experience and save a little money. The Churrasco experience in Pasadena is great. Meats were constantly coming and it was always fresh. The service was amazing. They were so attentive and kind. My brother had a cake and they even put it on a stand to make it presentable. They still gave his a complimentary cake of his choice for his birthday. We did not, indeed, enjoy all you can eat. While our server, Marcel, was excellent (thank you for your wonderful service), the whole dining experience was very slow. It took a long time for each meat to come, and the first three rounds were garlic picanha. We were pretty frustrated waiting for each meat that we eventually gave up. Thankfully, our server Marcel was wonderful. We came to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary, and he heightened our celebration with delicious desserts. By the time we found parking in Old Town, I could already tell Saturday night in Pasadena was going to be a full house. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Fogo de Chão - Pasadena, opting for the $75 full experience so we wouldn't have to think too hard about ordering. As expected, the place was packed, and the energy in the dining room matched that. The parade of meats kept coming, sliced fresh at the table and served hot. There's no denying the abundance -- you definitely get your money's worth in variety and volume. The salad bar was also nicely stocked, with plenty of greens, cheeses, and cold sides to balance things out. Our only real issue with the food was the salt level. After a few rounds, the seasoning started to feel heavy, especially on some of the beef cuts. It wasn't inedible, just noticeably salty by the end of the meal. Service felt stretched. Our servers were polite, but with how busy Saturday night was, we had long stretches without check-ins. Drink refills didn't happen unless we flagged someone down, which broke up the rhythm of dinner a bit. Nothing rude or dismissive -- just clearly a team trying to keep up with a packed house. Overall, it was still a nice anniversary dinner with plenty of food and a lively atmosphere. If you're going on a weekend, expect it to be busy and speak up early if you need refills. Checked out Fogo de Chao for lunch in Pasadena as they have their market table and feijoada bar for $18. If you're coming here for lunch, the salad bar is easily the best move. There's a wide variety of fresh veggies, fruits, and prepared salads--some with protein like their chicken salad--so it's actually pretty filling on its own. The standout for me though was the bacon... seriously out of this world. It's crispy with a caramelized sweetness and just a hint of spice that makes it hard to stop going back for more. We also tried the meats (picanha, bottom sirloin, ribeye, and filet), and unfortunately most of them came out dry. The filet was the only one that wasn't as overcooked, but even then, I still preferred everything from the salad bar. Parking is located downstairs, but heads up--they don't validate. Our negative experience started when we were told at check in that dispite of having a reservation we had to wait for about 30min for a table. Our wait ended up being 50min. The service and the food was equally disappointing, our waitress Andrea, was careless, sent over the wrong drink and forgot the side we asked for. Where do i start, We had made a 5pm reservation a week in advance. Upon arrival, we were told that unfortunately they had over booked and would have to wait another 35.to 40 minutes. After about 40 minutes we were told our table was ready. Table was not ready and had to wait another additional 10 minutes just to be seated. It took anther 15 minutes before our order was taken. We placed our order and needless to say we had to wait another additional 25 minutes before we were even offered a cut of the meat selections. We went to the salad bar prior but it was basically empty. Our drinks were wrong and the service was slow and mediocre. Sad to say our first experience at this place was far from what we expected. Not worth the price . I wanted to enjoy the experience but Fogo fell short. We will not be returning. I have been to a handful of Fogo de Chão locations (Austin, Seattle, and Downtown LA), but this was my first time at the Pasadena location, and it was truly outstanding. The building is historic, originally the Pacific Southwest Trust & Savings Bank, and still preserves it's grandeur, especially in the main dining area. We arrived right when they opened, so there isn't a wait. We were promptly seated and greeted by a fabulous server, Kelsey. She explained the menu and made a few recommendations. She gave us a few moments to get settled and returned to take our drink offer. I ordered the Cucumber Mint Smash (very refreshing), my husband ordered the Strawberry Hibiscus Caipirinha (sweet and floral), and we both decided on the Full Churrasco Experience. The central "market table" was beautifully abundant and full of various salads, veggie dishes, smoked meats, cheese, and sauces. I love the smoked salmon, capers, beet & arugula salad, cheeses, and fresh fruit & sliced tomatoes to balance the rich and savory meats. The gauchos kept coming over with hot and delicious meats. I particularly enjoyed the garlic picanha, bone in ribeye, and the cinnamon coated pineapple. Our server surprised is with a delicious honey-drizzled cheese. This is the 2nd time we've been to this location and both times they were running behind on reservations. Based on reviews this seems to be a reoccurring issue. Once I got a text to let me know our table was ready I let the host know. He acknowledged me and then turned around with no comment on if it would be a few mins or if our table was ready. Minutes go by and I let another host know and he advised it would be 5 minutes which turned out to be 15 mins. Essentially the first host seated 2 people at a 4 top when a 2 top was open nearby. Our party was a group of 4. Once we sat down it took a long time before any meats came to our table. Our server noticed and let us know he was going to send some cutters to our table. At other locations the cheese bread and other sides would be provided without being asked but we had to request each item. Once we figured this out we ordered the mashed potatoes which were room temperature at best. We only got one order of cheese bread. One server asked if we like more to which we said yes but it never arrived. We asked 3 other times and was told they were out. We ordered a shrimp cocktail starter but that did not arrive until well into the meal. Meats were few and far in between making the meal much longer than we had planned. Most likely the reason they're behind on reservations is because diners have such long wait to get food. The servers tried their best but there's not much they can do if their kitchen and staff aren't supporting them. For the same price I recommend M Grill instead. I like that there's also a mocktail option and plenty of bar bites that keep coming out. Not sure if my tastes have changed, or this place has truly degraded but from this point on, there is only one real place in LA that offers great BBBQ. I had a craving for Brazilian BBQ and of course top of anyone's mind for BBBQ is Fogo. So the wife and I made reservations and off we went on the day of the reservation. We went in and there was a line, like how I always remembered. But since we made a reservation, we went right in and felt slightly VIP lol. We were seated near the back. The last time we were here was a few years back and we remember it being good, where the picanha was the take away meat to eat. When we sat down, we got up and took a look at the cold bar. Got the grilled garlic, pickled cherry chilis, and various grilled vegetables. All good, but we all come here for the meats! We got the: Sausage - a bit dry this time around, but flavorful. 6/10 Pork Loin - The pork was very juicy complementing the parm very well. I will definitely get again if it comes by again 8/10 Bacon wrapped Steak - this was good. steak was tender as expected and the bacon was meaty and tasty. The steak was a bit dry. This was not my thing 5/10 Top Sirloin - Yum nothing special. Good and juicy 7/10 Picanha - This wonderful cut was good! I remember it being better, so not sure if my memory just betrayed me or what. But I have had better at another BBBQ place 8/10 After writing all this, maybe it was the service that was mediocre. Some of the meat servers were very nice, friendly and even funny. While some are just to the point and direct. Our waitress rarely came and so my drink was left empty twice, quite a disappointment. For the price point, there is one other place I have in mind that's probably second in mind when it comes to BBBQ that has better value and better service. Came here for a birthday celebration. The restaurant is located on the Main Street and in a previously bank building. The height vaulted ceiling and the big heavy entrance door made this a very nice venue for all occasions. Now to the Churascos. They have several variations of churasco ranging from the normal to high end meat selections. The premium churascos has the lobster tails and rack of lamb. The price was pretty steep even for the middle selection. We picked the middle tier and the meat was okay. Nothing to rant about. Some cut is tender and some are not. The salad bar, however, is the main attraction. All sorts of salad concoctions that you can think of. Cheese varieties are fantastic. Don't forget to leave some room for the meats. Overall good food but the service was very slow and far between in terms of staff availability. Meat cuts were great and market table had flavorful options. It felt quite understaffed, as we could not get a hold of servers for multiple things throughout the night such as water refills and even getting the dessert and paying the check. Even the dishes at one point in the night ran out, so a few of us had to wait for the clean dishes to arrive. While the food redeems the 4 stars and the service was very nice when we did get attention, I do hope that the restaurant relooks at checking in on customers more often. Also what was very weird was that the gift card redemption required us to write down the bar code. I'm surprised there wasn't a way to scan the code for redemption, so our party was writing down long codes on the back of the receipt for the gift cards. read more
