I've also seen her treat her own coworkers rudely when they come to the counter needing assistance. It's uncomfortable to stand in line and watch someone be spoken to that way. I understand that working with the public can be stressful, but basic courtesy and respect should still be expected when dealing with customers and coworkers. No one should feel like they are inconveniencing an employee by asking for a service that the store provides. With that said, I do want to give credit where it's deserved. Vallarta has some really good products and food. Their aguas frescas are delicious, and lately I've been getting their rotisserie chicken, which has been really good. The taqueria also serves fresh food, and I've generally had much better experiences with the employees in that department--they are friendly, helpful, and seem to genuinely care about providing good service. It's unfortunate that one person's attitude can make an otherwise good store such an unpleasant experience. Then a staffer came out, saying that my order had been given to someone else. Mistakes happen, but that means they didn't check the code OR the car description on the order. Funny, they always checked MY details. It gets worse: I was then expected to wait until the other person returned with my groceries. Who would do this? I asked for a refund and left. Any professional store would have apologized and offered to quickly re-shop the order while I waited. Not this Vons! I called back and spoke with the manager on duty, who treated the situation very casually, completely unbothered. So I'm finished dealing with Vons for pick-up and delivery. I've moved my business to the Ralph's on Lake, where they are - so far - quick, professional and friendly with the pick-up service. Sad. This Vons used to be a really good store with great employees - now it is neither.

They practically have everything from seafood, alcohol, sushi counter, to their deli/meat department, baked goods, along with fresh baked bread, canned and jarred foods, packaged pasta, beverages, hot cases; even a butcher that can cut and marinade your poultry according to your liking. I saw a Burrito Bar, (which was something new and interesting to me). They had fresh produce, party trays, dairy and a lot more. They have ample parking and street/metered parking too. They also have outdoor seating, if you choose to eat/drink your beverage, food outside. They do catering, pick up and delivery orders. Aisles were fully stocked and easy to navigate. It's a nice, CLEAN, big store with a lot of discounted items here and there. Which was nice. What I liked is that the manager was helping the cashiers, because they were very busy. There are items here I can't get anywhere else, or hard to find. I love the unsweetened Yerba Mate and Jasmine White tea. Most of the time my tea is out of stock at Bristol Farms. I miss the breakfasts that were made to order here ages ago. But with Amazon buying the store brand, some prices seem lower. Always browse the clearance section. They all look miserable ALL THE TIME! One time a cashier filled up one of my bags with really heavy groceries then told me to put it in the cart. I tried to pick it up and almost got a hernia ,and so I told him it's too heavy and I can't pick it up, and he just ignored me. He didn't try to put it in the cart himself because even he couldn't (it was so heavy). He didn't have the common sense or decency to even try emptying some of it into another bag . He just stood there, said nothing. (I ended up doing that myself) I tried to cut some slack for these guys, and give them the benefit of the doubt, and I've never once been rude to anyone there (even when I felt I had every right) I still kept quiet. However, the consistency of the horrendous customer service skills is disgraceful and disgusting. Where are the managers? Who is on the hiring committee? Why aren't any of these people getting proper training? Where is quality control? It's sad that standards are so low at this location that you treat your long time loyal customers this bad. Truly a shame. If I was a health inspector, I'd be shutting down your pizza center first, then I'd fire every single cashier there and train proper human beings to work with human beings.
