Visiting for the week and on the top of my list was trying out the infamous smoothies here. Yes! They are truly worth it. Some of the finest ingredients used that no chain can produce. We also shopped around for snacks couldn't resist the immaculate sushi section. Beautifully displayed and the best market sushi I have tasted. I love torched (yakumi) fish on nirigis and chose the salmon. So glad I did bc I wasn't even that hungry but gladly inhaled 3 pieces from Hubs' box. DD loves crispy rice and got the imitation crab salad with freshly sliced avocado on top. Loved it! Before we left for home, we made another stop here for their hot deli breakfast bar and coffee bar and more smoothies. Yes, yes, yes. My eggs, potatoes and bacon box was tastier and fresher then sit down restaurants. DD loved her croissant eggs and ham sandwich. My vanilla latte was bold and packed a punch. So it's expensive but you know that when you come here. I didn't realize there was one in Pasadena but it was a nice surprise. I heard that if you order the meat plates, it's a bit more reasonable. So that's what I tried on this visit. You would think you wait in the line in front of the counter but then I noticed people just walking up on the other end. So I did that and didn't have to wait. There should be signs or something. I was able to sample the items which was nice. I opted for the chicken curry which was the special with carrots who I heard was good. The sweet potato fries were also delicious. I love the seasoning. It's by weight, see my pics so it was $23.85. I really like their spicy tuna sushi sandwich which was $21ish. However, when I got some, it didn't look like tuna, It looked like cooked salmon. A little confused but what can you do. I'm not driving all the way up. :) Definitely an experience you should try. Got the Strawberry Smoothie for $25 and that was definitely the priciest smoothie I've gotten! It was very sweet on the bottom so be sure to stir it a lot! It was very thick in consistency and creamy. Everything is overpriced and overhyped but I will admit their food is of restaurant quality just packaged cafeteria style.. Hubby's cousin treated me to their salmon soba noodles. By far, one of the best I've ever had. Salmon was so meaty and cooked to perfection. Love the crusted sesame seeds and the veggies that come with the noodles are so crisp and fresh. To be honest, I don't know how people shop here on the regular given the insane pricing on many things. At least for specific or unique products, it might be worth it. I was gonna buy some blueberries since I was there for a specific brand of oat milk, til I realized it was $12 a box of **DRISCOLL'S** organic berries. You... can get these at your local Ralph's too... However, Erewhon is fantastic for finding interesting products you won't find elsewhere, and is generally an aesthetically pleasing shopping experience. Everything is displayed perfectly (except the berries I guess... they were strewn a little haphazardly), all labels lined right up, and in perfect order--til the shopper grabs something of course. After getting the oat milk I went for, I wandered around looking for intriguing things until my smoothies were ready. I love the Coconut Cloud and it's my go-to, almost tastes like a fruity vanilla cake, and get my husband whichever new collab they have at the time--this time it was Westside Whimsy (color was so pretty). Found a Thomas Keller x Armando Manni olive oil dark chocolate and gave that a try along with some other snacks. The smoothie bar is always consistent in terms of drink quality, and it takes about 10 minutes from ordering at the counter to get it. I really enjoyed my experience at Erewhon. I got a smoothie and while I do think some of the smoothies are overpriced, like the Hailey Bieber one, mine was actually very reasonably priced. I ordered the pitaya smoothie for $13 and it was delicious, fresh, and well balanced. The store itself was super busy, so it did take a little time for my order to go through, but the staff moved things along as quickly as they could given how packed it was. Service was efficient and friendly despite the crowd. Erewhon is a really cool grocery store with tons of naturopathic products, high quality produce, and unique health focused items you do not see everywhere. On a recent trip back home from SoCal-I found myself wanting to grab a quick bite before hitting the road back to Sacramento-I remember seeing a viral video from one of my favorite food influencers talking about the breakfast burrito at Erewhon-so I loaded up the address into google maps and headed to the closest Erewhon,which happened to be in Pasadena. So weird to see a 3.5 rating on Erewhon. Where do these folks shop? Haha. I've never seen a nicer grocer anywhere. The only thing I can think is that the Food Court is bringing them down, and rightfully so. This is literally the most beautiful and best maintained grocer I've ever seen. Aisles are meticulously laid out, color coordinated, and seemingly always perfect. I didn't even see workers fixing them by replacing and facing items as people grab items off the shelves but they obviously were. It was hopping and yet I didn't feel crunched. We decided to grab a bite at the food court, but I did regret that. Overpriced and not great. Maybe some items are better than others but mine was mediocre. It's hard to do cafeteria style well. But, Cory, who I was with enjoyed his meal. I loved how Erewhon had lots of glass jarred items, including pecans which I took home and fresh organic juices. There's not much to say of Erewhon, everyone knows this as the "expensive grocery store" but I thought I would have at least gotten my moneys worth. To start off it's hectic in there, no right sense of direction and people crowd around while waiting for their orders. I ordered the gothic smoothie and it wasn't great, I originally knew it was running $20 before hand and was okay paying that price, but I wasn't okay with drinking the rest of it as it had a funky taste. This smoothie was definitely for the pics instead of the flavor. Next I got a lunch plate, I heard the Buffalo cauliflower and Mac n cheese were popular so I ordered those along with rotisserie chicken. Big mistake, the chicken was the most driest chicken I have ever had, don't recommend. Buffalo cauliflower was okay not spicy and mostly soggy. Mac n cheese might have been the best and that's saying a lot since it was so watery. This plate ran me around $25, again I knew the price was high which was okay for me at the time. This chain grocery store likes to bottle produce and products in their own glass bottle, which made them look very fancy. I got some of their smoothies, which was very tasty! I also saw some of the mix nuts were bottled in mason jars. There is a coffee shops, and pastries available. Hot food and soup are also available. Food looks very delicious. I tried the Korean short ribs combo, which is meat with 2 sides. My plate is not event a pound, but costed over $30 including tax. The food was not as tasty as it presented. I actually went somewhere else to purchase more food! I can get a steak in a restaurant! This place is very clean; however, staff were not too helpful and friendly. They offer yearly membership for $200, which you can earn cash back. However, this is too pricy for me. I will probably shop here once in a long while. read more

We were regular customers at Erewhon for about two years. We even had a membership which, by the way, I absolutely do NOT recommend. For a store that positions itself as a premium health grocery store, the product selection is actually quite limited. The prepared food is marketed as "healthy," but in reality a lot of it is extremely greasy and heavy. The worst experience we had was with their burgers. One time my boyfriend bit into a burger and there was a piece of bone inside. He almost broke his tooth and ended up with a small chip, which was still very unpleasant. We brought the bone back to the store and showed it to the manager because we thought they should take this seriously and pay more attention to what's happening in the kitchen. The manager's response? She offered us ice cream. Seriously. Does she really think ice cream is going to fix someone's chipped tooth? About six months later we decided to give their burger another chance. And guess what? Another bone in the burger. At that point we were already eating carefully because apparently finding foreign objects in their food is something customers just have to expect. We also had an issue with the post-workout smoothie once it was extremely watery, but they refused to remake it. If you still decide to try their burger (which barely tastes like meat anyway), I'd suggest getting the small one instead of the big one -- it's at least slightly better. Overall, very disappointing experience for a place that charges such high prices and claims to have high standards. read more

8/13/2025 First time at any Erewhon location. I came here on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't the largest location, but they still they had a lot of food options. As soon as you walk in the checkout counter was front and center. It was very clean and organized than other grocery stores such as Whole Foods or Sprouts Farmers Market. The grocery aisles were neatly compact and organized differently than most other grocery stores. I was impressed! Yes, the prices were higher, but there were items that I haven't seen in other grocery stores, so it was all very tempting to buy a full bag of items before leaving shop. They had a hot bar station, but you order at the front and they package your food for you. They had pizza as well. There was a self-serve soup bar. On the left, there was a coffee shop. Both the hot bar station and coffee shop were side by side, so everyone stood in line, which stretched out to the shopping area, so it was a bit disorganized. However, the food was well-presented and delicious. There were also a large selection of Erewhon's refrigerated and ready-to-eat items too. The fresh vegetable and fruit options weren't many though. The one thing I didn't love was the checkout counters. It's such a weird design. The checkout counters were in a circle at the entrance of the supermarket. They ask you to stand in line, yet there was no sign of where the line starts. There was a small maze err bookshelf of foods where you stand before you step into the checkout counter area. It was such an odd experience. I think they should start investing in self-checkout counters. If they're doing something new and different than other supermarkets, they should make even the checkout process seamless and easy. The staff seemed nice although oddly enough, they don't offer to help you unless you ask them. They all looked like they were keeping their head down and working without bothering shoppers. Bathroom was clean although there were only two stalls. However their sinks can be cleaner to match their super organized food aisles. Overall experience was good, but there is some left to be desired in customer service. And checkout counters can be changed up a bit without feeling stodgy. First time going to any Erewhon location and this one in Pasadena was an easy walk down the street. We came during a time when it seemed like a local running club was hanging out at so the lines for the smoothies/drinks area was going all the way out the door. It was a blessing in disguise too because the cheapest drinks available was $10 (one drink which was the newest) and others went up to $20 for one smoothie. I was expecting the grocery shelf items to be equally expensive but some products were actually pretty reasonable. The prepared foods display was clean and organized well. They looked delicious and the hot foods display was also very appealing. We ended up buying a couple of protein shakes and I liked the simple ingredients listed on them. During checkout, staff asked if we were a "member" of Erewhon and we said no, and there wasn't any additional info given about how to get one so idk what the perks are to being one. Certainly the most unexpected store I've been in. Everything from the front to the back is completely aligned, organized, and clean. Erewhon certainly has a compact type feeling to it. While yes, prices are higher than your usual grocery stores, Erewhon offers different items including items that are higher quality than most. Plus points for free parking next to TJMaxx Food area is where most of the shoppers were, lining up for the food court which provided many options for brunch type meals. Came by to check out the hype at this place. For those who are long time locals, I will date myself, but it's in the former I. Magnin/Borders building. Lots of unique brands here that I haven't seen at other markets, attached to prices I haven't seen at other markets. There are some items that are priced similar to Sprouts, but most items are on the higher end. (Anyone want a $42 supermarket apple pie or a $165 Erewhon hoodie?) Enjoyed our experience at this Pasadena location. I liked that it had a more spacious parking garage than some of the other locations and the actual market itself seemed bigger. What we really enjoyed about going to Erewhon is the variety of hot items and prepared foods that they have available. From soups, sandwiches to sushi and pizzas there is something for every taste preference. We ended up picking up some premade teriyaki tofu, vegan short ribs, buffalo cauliflower and gluten free Mac and cheese for the vegetarians in our family and Korean short ribs for the non vegetarians. Everything was very tasty and well seasoned. We also had to try one of their smoothies. This time we tried the Malibu Mango. It was good but not worth the price. I think we preferred the Hailey Bieber smoothie better. Everything in Erewhon is priced at a higher price point but I think overall the quality of food seems to justify some (not all) of the higher pricing. If we are craving another market trip to an Erewhon, we definitely would visit this location over some of the other ones in the LA area. read more

Extremely clean grocery store with tons of homemade, fresh goods. Lots of products, oftentimes on sale - more reasonably priced than we thought. Lovely vegetable selection, and the most picturesque and healthy looking produce display ever. Great staff! Parking garage next door. They sell freshly made pastries and there is a smoothie bar and coffee! Hot bar and salad bar looks amazing! read more
