Enjoyed our experience at this Pasadena location. I liked that it had a more spacious parking garage than some of the other locations and the actual market itself seemed bigger. The produce section looked so fresh and vibrant. Everything looked in season and just at the perfect ripeness. What we really enjoyed about going to Erewhon is the variety of hot items and prepared foods that they have available. From soups, sandwiches to sushi and pizzas there is something for every taste preference. We ended up picking up some premade teriyaki tofu, vegan short ribs, buffalo cauliflower and gluten free Mac and cheese for the vegetarians in our family and Korean short ribs for the non vegetarians. Everything was very tasty and well seasoned. We also had to try one of their smoothies. This time we tried the Malibu Mango. It was good but not worth the price. I think we preferred the Hailey Bieber smoothie better. Everything in Erewhon is priced at a higher price point but I think overall the quality of food seems to justify some (not all) of the higher pricing. If we are craving another market trip to an Erewhon, we definitely would visit this location over some of the other ones in the LA area. read more

Extremely clean grocery store with tons of homemade, fresh goods. Lots of products, oftentimes on sale - more reasonably priced than we thought. This place is cool, yes pricey, but cool. We came for the smoothies, but got distracted with all the other goodies--we got some matcha powder and extra drinks. To order drinks at this location was a bit confusing because there was multiple lines, but once we ordered it was smooth sailings. I really enjoyed the Hailey Bieber smoothie. I can't afford it, but I still come. The carrot cake is one of the best I've ever had. I make it last for about a week, nibble here nibble there. Alrighty here's my review of erehwon. Food wise, tastes and looks very healthy... whether it is or not who knows haha. Aisles are clean produce is fresh. I understand why they Jack the price up. Do I need to be paying $30+ for water? No not really lol. Now for the smoothies. Lots of hype. Tbh, they were good. The Hailey Bieber is indeed really nice. Not too sweet, tastes healthy. $20 worth? Stopped by the Pasadena location and had a smooth, easy experience overall. The store feels clean, spacious, and well-organized, without being as chaotic as some other Erewhon locations can get. I didn't grab food this time -- I picked up a hand sanitizer gel (they also have a spray), while my friend ordered some of the hot food items, which looked solid and freshly prepared. I briefly considered getting the Hailey Bieber smoothie, but it wasn't a priority for this visit. I did notice they offer soft serve, which is something I'd be curious to try next time. One thing I really appreciated was the free street parking nearby, which made stopping in much more convenient and low-effort compared to other locations. Overall, a good Erewhon Pasadena location if you're in the area -- clean, efficient, and easier to access than expected. Watched a couple of YouTube videos and was curious to shop here. I was already prepped for the sticker shock that is part of the brand. Surprisingly there are some good values to be found and even some sale items. The Raw Golden Goat milk is $10. It's actually quite good and good for you. I also picked up a couple of sea moss probiotic sodas, on pomegranate and one mango ginger. They were priced under $4 which about the same as Kombucha. Scored some baking chocolate discs on sale that I'm looking forward to trying. A better value than the designer wrapped bars. Speaking of packaging, every aisle is beautifully curated. Check out the labels of the canned fish! What would really make my toes curl if they had a sample day. I would line up for a spoonful of sea moss. The colors intrigue me, but I would want to try before I buy to know what flavor suits my palate. The prepped food and drink stations were lined up for people getting coffee smoothies and hot dishes. The line spread into the beauty products so I didn't tarry long there. However I did smell the $52 candles in Oud and Rose. Very nice. Ample outdoor seating and perfectly located in the older area of South Lake Avenue where the old luxury brands used to be. Perfectly fitting it's in the old I. Magnin building in Pasadena. Ok yeah, it's expensive. I wouldn't do my grocery shopping here but the food bar is alright. The highlight for me is the chicken pot pie! It's legitimately one of the best pot pies I've ever had, and of course all the ingredients are organic. For $16, it's not bad. Very filling, perfect lunch or dinner. If you're going to get a combo, just be careful what you load in that box bc it will cost you! I usually the salmon, kale & bean salad, and cauliflower. Will say the smoothies are good (also a bit on the sweet side) but absolutely not worth $20 each. Everyone always talks about the Erewhon smoothies, but there is not enough talk about the food. Super fresh hot food selection! I would recommend looking up what you want to get ahead of time- I knew I wanted to try the buffalo cauliflower and the kale salad based on TikTok recommendations. The buffalo cauliflower was amazing- I don't know how they've done it so that it doesn't have the cauliflower texture but it is definitely a star! I also liked the kale white bean salad and the other bean salad! This Pasadena location is not as well organized as some other locations I've been to- the parking structure is good, but the store organization is very small. There isn't a clear place for ordering from the hot food bar and the smoothie section, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Erewhon is a novelty in itself. Walked over with some friends after eating lunch just to check it out and grab a smoothie. The location on Lake is easy to find and pretty spacious, but parking may be limited. I was expecting HIGHLy overpriced stuff, but the prices were comparable to others grocery store with expensive organic things, and everything is VERY nicely, neatly displayed and clean. For example, it's winter right now and I saw a 16 oz pack of strawberries for $7 or $8. Is that expensive? Yes. Did I also see similar pricing at Ralphs that very same weekend on their organic strawberries of the same size? Also yes. There were definitely some things that were way more overpriced (a doz vital farms eggs for over $10), but it wasn't as INSANE as I was expecting. We got hailey bieber smoothies and while it was delicious with all the collagen-y ingredients, I probably wouldn't get it again for myself. Okaaay erewhonn i get the hype sorta. Honestly thought it'd be super expensive, but its similar to whole foods just depends on what items you seek cuz you know inflation be hitting anyways. Did not try the smoothie. The lines are kind of long but if u buy pizza you can buy it at the register there. The hot food line moves fast and they seem to have many beautifully displayed vegetarian options, but it appears the replenishment takes some time. I probably would go here for specialty items like plant based milk for matcha or coconut cult rather than produce ( as pretty and clean as it looks). Hot plate- had set plates for $20 vegan/vegetarian (arguably where erewhon would shine as its all organic) which is much pricier than whole foods, but you can also gaslight yourself into believing its more reasonable than a meal out these days. Brussels sprouts- love the roast, but salty; not really maple sweet Buffalo cauliflower- okay I get the hype. Its tender, not mushy but great flavor and coating on each bite Broccoli- again cooked well Only thing is the veg are kind of salty Pizza- i feel like this is a pretty good deal esp as it can be harder to find neopolitan style crusted pizza and the pieces are biiig. The margherita was quite parmseany and didn't taste greasy or fell off in a gloppy cheese chunk at all. The crust is thin and airy. Not like gourmet, but probably one of the better deals u can get. Also tried their pumpkin cheesecakes ( wow samples worth $4!!? ) and it was decadent. When I think of Erewhon, I automatically assume everything is overpriced. So I wanted to visit and see for myself. Sometimes you'll find items that cost you way more than it should, but other times, you'll find items that are reasonably priced and comparable to items at other markets. They have a smoothie bar, hot food section and cold prepared foods like sandwiches, salads and sushi ready to eat. These items in particular are quite pricy with everything averaging upwards of $20 per item! The market looks nice, and it was pretty neat to finally visit an Erewhon. P.S. Came into the Tonic Bar on a Tuesday morning and it was not busy. I got the Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Smoothie and it was delicious! This was my first time ordering at the Tonic Bar and I was very pleased. The employees were very nice and greet you. Multiple outside seating is available and is clean and checked often. It was a little chilly out but the outside seating has heaters and one of them has a center fire pit! Very relaxing to sit out and enjoy your food/drink or even do some work on your computer. This review is going to mainly be about the smoothies and food. First off the store is well stocked. They have quite a wide variety of organic and vegan options. Which is great. I was more interested in the prepared foods they had and the drinks at their cafe. We ordered I think this huge German pancake, a frittata, and an avocado and egg quesadilla. Sorry forgot to take pictures of the foods. We also got 2 smoothies. The Hailey Bieber strawberry glaze skin smoothie and the vanilla matcha smoothie (swapped the oat milk for hemp). The food and drinks were delicious. Price is a bit steep for the smoothies but if you account for what's in it then you'll know why. Some may disagree. Melanie- It's obvious based on my experience why she is the store manager, she helped me save time and find exactly what I was looking for, she really made my search for Pecanmilk and Ezekiel cereal super simple, she was extremely professional and on point with checking for customer satisfaction. There was an african american lady I don't know her name in the tester section of the oils, my gosh I dont even have words for her, she was extremely helpful, and made me feel comfortable to test product, I wish I got her name but she was by the test oils, she was awesome and very helpful. Justina was checking something on the shelf and stopped to make sure I was ok, I needed help with tartar sauce and hse made it a super simple process but went above and beyond going to the back herself and getting it for me. There's free parking in a parking structure off Lake Ave that is shared with other businesses and it can get crowded but parking isn't too hard to find. After walking out of the parking lot there is outdoor seating for people eating at Erewhon and then the entrance where you see cashiers in a different formation than typical grocery stores. It's more of an open concept if you will in a square. They are organized by produce on the left and pantry items to the left. Freezer and fridge items like the walls to the left as well. Prices seem to be around 30 percent higher for the same products you can buy elsewhere but they have some niche healthier products as well. The brand is so well built up that their generic Erewhon products actually are a hefty price as well versus being cheaper. It's such a cool thing? I wanted to try to see the hype and ate a meal at Erewhon. Why did it seem like every time I went people are eating and waiting for food. Their food section is busy! I got a veggie meal which consists of choosing any 3 veggie items or salads for 20 dollars a pound. Meat meals have higher price points and you pick that meat and 2 sides. I also tried a slice of pizza which was around 8 dollars. They had pizza samples which was nice. I think the food is a hit or miss. My pizza slice was a mushroom pizza that tasted pretty average to me. Not like a greasy pizza chain, but it tasted like an artisan pizza slice that was decent. It wasn't mind blowing. However the cheese pizza samples though were better...maybe I should get a cheese slice next time. The tomato sauce was yum. My meal had buffalo cauliflower which was something I'd get again. It was crispy, had good buffalo flavor. The size of the florets were good. I also got a kelp noodle salad which was also delicious. Kelp noodles aren't readily found to buy other places so these two times I can't easily make at home and they tasted pretty good. My last time was rice meatballs with some tangy sauce over it. That was a let down. If you like a strong herb flavor of thyme or oregano then maybe you'll like it. The texture inside the fried ball was pretty much chewy rice. The person who made my plate made it so it was pretty much 1 lb but my friend's helped loaded her plate and stuffed the box. She didn't realize it was the price per lb so her meal was almost 30 dollars. Also some other sides seem pretty standard sides I probably wouldn't want to pay that price for... I even surprised myself but I would honestly come back for a meal. Especially given that some burgers these days cost 15 dollars before even getting a side, my 20 dollar meal was filling and more palpable with that comparison. One of my favourite grocery stores ... if there was only one I would shop here all the time. It's really aesthetically pleasing and so beautiful when you walk in the door. They have amazing options of produce, dairy, meats and lots of specialty items that you can only find at Erewhon. I love their juice / smoothie section .. they are pricey... but so good each smoothie is amazing and loaded with great ingredients. And their hot food section is out of this world, great section of organic ingredients and locally sourced. And their service is always nice and friendly. The staff is helpful and very knowledgable. Much smaller compared to some of the others, don't really shop here but once in a while they have good deals, I know is hard to believe. Found my probiotics on sale here today for at much lower price than Sprouts, so that was a win. Limited parking on the streets paid a dollar for one hour - they have time limits on Saturdays, that sucked, but a dollar is not bad, I did see covered parking near by as well tho, unsure if there's a fee. Forgot to mention there is a nice patio where you can sit and eat or sip on a drink especially if it's nice weather outside. I was visiting SoCal and took a walk in the neighborhood. When I saw Erewhon, I had to stop out of curiousity. It's pricey but pretty. I was visiting around 7:30 am, so it wasn't crowded and it's nice to have store to myself. If you notice the plaque in front, this was a former I Magnin store (old school). I have visited the one in Studio City which appears to have a larger footprint than the one in Pasadena. Instead of getting a smoothie (which they are known for), I ended up getting a pricey grab and go juice. I will admit that tasted much better and probably better for me. Courteous staff at checkout, that was fairly easy and not a wait first thing in the morning. I admit that sometimes it's good to price compare the supplement section. I missed out on my favorite Omega 3's at the the other location and it was no longer available in Pasadena. You have to do your homework on deals before going out and making an impulse buy. On this visit, I didn't see any decent deals or anything that screamed "buy me" except for my juice in a pretty glass bottle. read more

Back in the day we used to joke and call Whole Foods, "Whole Paycheck." Erewhon is a Mortgage Payment in comparison. OMG!I walked in and experienced sticker shock. A small slice of cake $14. A few other items that I looked at were $14. It's like $14 is the base price and it goes up from there. This store is small in comparison to the one in Beverly Hills. It occupies a section of the former I. Magnin & Co building, which was designed by architect H.C. Chambers. The layout is nice, and everything is well organized, which makes it easy to navigate. They also have an outdoor seating area so you can sit and enjoy your pre-made food or beverage. This high-end organic market has its loyal customers.
