Been a customer here for more than 20yrs. Always clean & organized. Staffs are always helpful. And ample parking all the time.

This is a nice location if you are picking up something to go, as the freeway entrance to the 210 and 134 are down the street. I've never seen significant crowds , although parking could be challenging. There is a self-checkout line which is relatively smooth and efficient. I would come back for ice cream or treats or other foods, as the store is clean and not crowded. read more

I've been shopping at this Vons for 25 years. It's been great until they got a new manager a few months ago. Now there is only one register open beginning at 9:30 am. The rest is self-check-out. Since I am an early bird, I'd like to get my grocery shopping done in the morning. But under new management, I now have to go at 2 pm hoping that there will be at least two registers open. But even in the afternoon where there are more shoppers, there is still only one register open. I stand in a single line for at least 20 minutes with other shoppers trying to pay for their groceries before I get to the register. A total waste of my and every other shopper's time. This Vons will lose even more business that it already has because of this store's bad management. read more

Came in today at 8:02 am and none of the checkout lines had any cashiers. I asked this lady working there to go ahead and ring me up and she told me to go to self check out. I told her I prefer her to check me out as the machines always have glitches and probs and I end up having to wait for a cashier to come over and help anyway. She told me they dont let them check people out and that I have to go to seld checkout. I said that sounds impossible and asked for a manager.She told me she was the manager and then rolled her eyes and then with an attitude told me she will ring me up. I told her I hope its no bother to her since it is a grocery store after all. She swore that it was store policy to make all the customers go through self check out and that she was not allowed to ring me up at the regular check out stand. Smh. Then why are they there? For decoration??? What a weird and funky store. I guess they are trying to cut corners and save and nickel and dime every which way they can. She said there wasn't but then offered to help. She went above and beyond to make the arrangement. Usually, employees would say no one is available and move along with their day. COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my groceries from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is massive. Lots of parking spots for you to choose from. Take your pick. However, beware of some small and tight spots. Store & Staff: The store itself is large. It is also very clean, neat, tidy, and organized. I rarely grocery shop here. I normally come to get chips to snack on while I work. But I do mainly come here for the seafood department. During my lunch I come to get their sushi. I go to lunch at 10am, yes it's an early lunch, and usually the sushi man prepares them just in time when I get there around 10:15am. For sushi coming from a grocery store, I am wildly impressed. Sometimes I get either the California roll with crunchies, spicy tuna roll, or the Red Rock Roll. The Red Rock Roll is basically a California roll topped with spicy tuna, fried dried onion crunchies, green onions, smelt egg, and a drizzle of eel sauce. The sushi here is WAY better than the Huntington Memorial Hospital sushi. I work near here and these are my only sushi options. The sushi is also ALWAYS made fresh. I know this because when I'm too early, I watch him make the sushi. I also wanted to mention how nice the sushi man is. I'm upset at myself for not asking what his name is because he is the sweetest man I've ever met. If you're grocery shopping here and have a craving for sushi, I recommend stopping by the seafood department. You won't regret it. read more

My only real complaint that early in the morning, around 6:30, there is a worker there that does no work. He squats or kneels in front of the freezer aisle reading a magazine, kind of creepy. Today as I waited in line to pay for my groceries, I witnessed something very disappointed. The cashier "Minerva." was upset because an elderly woman came in to return something. The elderly lady didn't know who to speak to so she approached the cashier. The cashier wasn't rude but she wasn't helpful either. She told her to go to the self check out desk. First of all, if you don't use self check out you may not know there is a desk there? She may not have understood what she was referring to? She's elderly and I could see she suffered from something as she had an obvious disability. I did tell the cashier she should have more patience with the elderly. As she doesn't even know if she can even comprehend completely. The Cashier stated that the customer should have patience for her. I'm just a customer but I respect the elderly and try to be as helpful as I can because one day we will all be elderly and might need a little more assistance. The cashier seems annoyed, angry and full of hate. I walked out of there with an heavy feeling as that kind of energy is very contagious. Only I don't know what the deal is in that store, but minding one's own business and just trying to shop for groceries bugs the $&#% out of the secret shoppers, loss prevention, other customers, or whomever. Pretty standard Vons, but compared to the nearby Ralph's, it's miles better. Shelves are well stocked at all times I've visited, staff is friendly, and there's a much better masking practice here. At night, the staff working on construction/painting often don't wear masks (I guess fumes don't bother them??), but compared to the nearby Ralph's, this is a small fraction of employees. There's also always someone at the counter to ring up your groceries when you'd rather not do self check out (I skip it when getting produce). A little on the pricier side for a Vons, but I think it's because some of the produce is trying to compete with Whole Foods' produce. There's a decent selection of organics that I don't see at every typical Vons. read more

Pretty disappointed honestly, I shop here weekly I enjoy the selection of products and the friendly employees. The other shoppers are another situation entirely. I had a difficult encounter with a strange man who wanted to place himself physically in my path multiple times, when I asked him about his behavior he would ignore my existence. (Odd to say the least) I report this strange behavior to the keyholder in the front and he does the right thing, he escalated this issue to the store manager. The store manager requests my presence at the front of the store while I am still shopping so I oblige. The store manager now proceeds to ignore me as well, start shopping for fruit and clock out at appears to take a break after being informed of my presence that HE requested. I can only infer a few things from this experience but it has colored my view of how Safeway handles legitimate complaints. Hope you hold some folks accountable. read more

Prior to their remodel, it was a decent store to shop. Not so much now. They push you to self check out which doesn't work. They have a few very SLOW cashiers, if you purchase wine, you have to go to a person. The specific cashier, Yolo (?), always has drama in her line. She has worked there forever and doesn't even know how to change the paper in the computer, which has held up the "human" lines numerous times. What a waste to remodel a store and have no decent check out options. AWFUL! Go to Ralphs, Gelson's, TJ's or a different Vons. AWFUL. FYI- no one wants non-working self check out. read more

For the most part, everyone is very nice and helpful. I appreciate them. Today, when my husband and I were shopping, we kept been harass by Isabel, as seen in her name tag. The rating is for my purchase and *not the overall store (kind of). I went to get a salad because I didn't pack a lunch as I normally do. Home salads are the way to go for me because I get to see EXACTLY what's in it, I get to wash everything, and I know the quality of all ingredients. So! I looked through thee areas in the store that sold salads. I even checked the 'Packed On' dates in an attempt to get the freshest salad I could get for my money (relatively speaking). To my surprise, I found a huge COBB SALAD. It had What looked to be fresh ingredients (bacon, cheese, n aw'lat). I like a salad with romaine lettuce and spinach but this one had iceberg. The egg was cut in half exposing the yolk which looked a tad undercooked but I was like, "I'll just throw the 55 calories out anyway along with the bacon and cheese (watching my caloric intake). I get to lunch and there it is! A bunch of brown, old looking lettuce all through out the salad underneath the toppings. I sat there and had to pick it all out as if searching for a lost wedding ring in a dumpster or something. IM CONVINCED that this location created these huge salads in an attempt to use their products the day before they shipped em to the 99 cent store or a homeless shelter. This lettuce was yellowish with brown ends, fit for the trash. But hey they got my $7.99. I hope this review is seen by them and they fix this practice. It's not fair or right in my opinion. QUESTION: The jury is still out but I'm thinking, if they are ok with this, or don't check the quality of what they sell?... then what else is wrong in there? I wonder if the health department or food inspection agency will read this and check the store out. Thanks Vons. On a Sunday morning in March, I was here with my sister shopping here. The market had a few shoppers at 8am and it is small in size compared to other Vons. The aisles are clean and well stocked. They also have a small area on clearance bread and other stuff near the meat dept. I also like the self checkout lines because it's easy to pay and leave. read more

I like this store and its staff but I'm tired of the solicitors in the lot and near the entrance. Several become belligerent when they don't get what they want and one followed me into the store yesterday. She was escorted out but started swearing and threatening me as I was walking back to my car. And sadly, I've seen this happen to other customers. This Vons is walking distant from our home. Sometimes we walk down to pick up a quick dinner from the deli. The rotisserie chicken is always over cooked and fresh made deli sandwiches are flavorless and if you order then toasted they are burnt. Also, made with an attitude. If I have to stop by in the morning to pick up an item on my way to work they are always understaffed and usually rude as well. I've started driving up to Ralph's on Colorado to avoid this place. So I needed some items that I couldn't find at Trader Joes and came up on some deals that made me happy. I've been wanting to try the Cronuts for along time and haven't been able to get to NY city (home of the Cronut) so I found the next best thing in Von's of all places. Four for $5 to be exact. They also had a more expanded variety of higher quality pastries as well now. I'm pretty sure I saw a blueberry scones and morning buns being sold too. Pleasantly surprised. My next great find was of the vegetarian variety. You may not get that excited if you don't like these but they sell a new "Chik N" patty that's the spicy variety. These two items made my day today. I think I will pop in more frequently to see what Von's has from now on. I'm a satisfied customer today! read more

Great Store, much better than the Vons in South Pasadena. Around 10AM two weeks ago I came to get some chicken and juice they had chicken! They also reinstalled self checkout. Yes! The self checkout is an older version and the self checkout has the terrible "Please remove idem from bagging area." and "please wait". This is the version I hate compared to Whole Foods that you can bag after you scan. Monopoly has been fun this year got a $25 gift card. Great employees giving out tickets. Came around 11 AM on the same day to get more chicken and they had it still! Compared to Whole Paycheck (Whole Foods), they had way more items available. Thank you Vons keep it up! read more

"Work construction at a nearby site. Stop by for things on my lunch break, usually 2 times a week. I get lunch at the deli counter ocassionaly. Most of the staff is great. Went intoday to grab a chicken sandwhich aroun 10am. They were out and informed us they moved the time they stock them to 11am because the construction workers were buying them all. They worker even asked us what time we take our lunch . We said 10am he responded "good well keep putting them out at 11am". I'll take my business elsewhere" I'm glad to know this location would rather lose customers and SALES just to avoid a small lunch rush. Won't be making any stops there. read more

We frequent two markets that our closest to our home. They are Vons (on California) and Ralph's fresh fair (on Colorado). We enjoy Vons as it is larger and more selection. Though their has been known theft of purse snatching. And their meat selection needs improvement (Ralph's has Prime) I am going out of my way to post my recent positive experience at Vons (on California). They have a display of pre packaged meals called "Plated". They were on sale so I snatch up a couple. The one we tried tonight was a salmon dish. It was a Pleasant surprise!! I will never ever go to this Vons again. I just saw the produce guy wheeling out fruit .. the Hispanic man stuck his finger in his nose which caught my eye. He saw me and didn't stop! He inhaled and did an inwards SNOT ROCKET!! I quickly turned away in disgust. When I looked back shortly after his finger was inside his ear and he was scratching his ear!! Then he went on to put away fruit. Anyone who has poor hygiene like that and has no qualms about doing that in public or doing that at all for that matter, does that frequently. That is his norm, and that who's handling the fruits and vegetables at that store. No hygiene or sanitary standards are being practiced. That is a dirty man, and I will not be shopping there unless it 2am and no other stores are open, and even then I will not be getting anything from their produce section. I feel like washing off all my salad dressing containers that I got from the refrigerated section there. I want to throw up! Vons, look at the cameras and talk to that guy, please! That was absolutely vile. 4/18/2019 5pm . ***** and yes, I agree w many other posters. The bathrooms are so atrocious, the smell deters me from looking at the Sale items in the hallway, and even from the refrigerated section nearby. I've heard customers complain about the bathroom. And an employee at the checkout counter once said the bathrooms are disgusting. I don't think Vons -corporate takes this store seriously. They need more security. The transients use that bathroom as their heroin den/ shower/ bath, and they need to hire more janitorial staff and security to monitor the area. Bathrooms are dirty at all hours... This is a review of both this location (1 star) and Vons in general (1 star). This store is much too small to be the full-service grocery it claims to be. I can never complete more than 75% of my shopping list when I come here. I have instead started to go to the Ralph's up the street, where I do not have the same problem. For being in a nicer part of Pasadena, they carry limited higher-end brands, and even in low- to mid-market brands, they have a limited selection across products. For example, they carry 6 packs of 16-oz Coke and Diet Coke bottles, but not Coke Zero. IF you can find all the items you're looking for - and this is another issues; I can't quite describe it, but the layout is just not quite right - then you still have to go through the time-consuming step of adding "coupons" on the app so that you pay a reasonable price for some items to compensate for the significant markup applied across the board. With Ralph's, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods all within a stone's throw, this is a store that you should skip. read more

For a grocery store in Pasadena, the Vons bathroom is atrocious. I can't believe you have such a gross bathroom right next to your fresh meat and seafood counter. It's a biohazard. That there are brown splash stains on the walls and the floor, at 8:30am on a Thursday, is disgusting. This is an easy fix.
