It got * Starbucks * Pharmacy * Signature cafe (Soup, Deli, Roasted Chicken, Soup etc..) * One Hour Photo * Bakery * Blockbuster Express * Floral * Frozen Seafood * Meat Strength + Great place to grab a soup and bread for few bucks and is far more healthy than Subway. + Very large selection of wines. + Store layout is good, with good amount of spacing, less chance of bumping into someone, + No long line at most of the time and is pretty clean. Weakness: - The sandwich price is quite high for a grocery ($5.49 for 6") - Parking lot is a bit hassle, no street parking nearby if the lot is full. My Two Cents: This is overall a pretty good Vons, it got just about everything that Vons would offer, however it you not from around the area, is better to avoid due to heavy traffic in California and parking lot can be a mess sometime. The Vons in Pasadena has a separate entrance for the Pharmacy (to the right of Vons). The deli has good selection of affordable sandwiches, but slow service because there's really only one person making them even during the lunch hour. When I went, they had a deal for $1 any size drink. There's not much seating for people to have lunch or breaks even though there are a lot of businesses and offices nearby. Disgusting. So I get an Italian soda and while I'm drinking it I noticed the bottle start to fall apart and I start analyzing it and notice that the bottle is 7 months expired. 7 MONTHES!!!!!! Do not buy cold cuts here. Sooo dirty. There was meat just sitting in the slicer. Who knows how long and they were all extremely dirty.

I have been shopping at this Von's for many years, and I have to say, I never felt they were about money. We recently needed flowers for celebrating Senior Night for our Winter sports, which required 24 roses. I have purchased roses many times for many occasions from here and always been delighted. "Not this Time" I sent my fellow teacher to pick up flowers, 2 dozen "yellow" roses, to be individually wrapped to give to parents of our players. $157.00 Bill. The next day, I went into Von's requesting to see manager, the lady was surprised at the cost, but suggested we go to the flower department, and verify. The Manager of the flowers stated, "well it is Valentines Day week". I told her less than a month ago, I had same type of order from there and it was $42.00. "Roses are more expensive because of Valentines day", and maintained a smile the whole time. Time to Move on to another store, that appreciates the hundreds I spend there. read more

I rarely shop at VOns these days and I won't be shopping here again. All my other grocery stores which I shop at 2-3 times a week gladly take returns and are more friendly then your store. I do not do my regular grocery shopping there, but I love the service deli. I usually go around 11 AM because they have these delicious chicken sandwiches ready around that time and with your club card you get a dollar off!!! If you want a great sandwich ask for Nadine she was sweet and courteous and made me a delicious roast beef sandwich. Across from the hospital, correct? Nasty parking lot with homeless people and beggars out front or people constantly trying to sell you candy or take part in a survey! This Vons location is by far the worst grocery store in Pasadena. Every single time we shop there it's ALWAYS understaffed with cashiers. You would think that during the holidays they would staff the store with sufficient personnel to support the high volume of shoppers. I like vons I can get all my specialty snacks and over priced fruit and veggies, I can get food deals on steaks.... but this particular vons has terrible terrible bagels..... The Starbucks at this locations saves limited items for Vons employees instead of letting actual customer purchase them! I watched a Vons employee Buy 2 boxes of the summer color changing cups that were saved for her or she hid for herself in the back of the store (she pulled them out of her personal shopping back while paying for them) she didn't grab them from the shelf like the employee claimed... they were still in a plastic bag. If they were on display they wouldn't still be in the plastic bag. Shady! It has come to my attention that packs of bottled water are placed outside in direct sunlight which is dangerous for human health considering the sun and heat release BPA into the water which is cancerous. I like the location of this vons. I feel like they also have a decent layout to the store. The one major issue I have is that I have never found any good deals on meats at this location. Maybe I have always been here at bad times but there never seems to be decent prices for the meat. There are some bums that seem to try to hang out in front but I haven't seen them for the last few times I came to this store so they may have solved the issue. Service is pretty good. A MAJOR plus for this location is that it is open 24 hours! This is huge for me. Sunday night I was really hungry and driving home at 2:30am. I was tired of Jack in the Box so I stopped here and bought some potatoes and corn on the cob for side dishes so that I could go home and grill a steak that I had sitting in the fridge. I thought I'd already reviewed this one? Here goes, they have pumpkin pies, yo! AND they have pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I had to bust a move on both of them. I was the most popular guy in the check out lane. The people behind me were like, "OMG, what are those?" Even the cashier was like, "I have not had those, but they look goooood!" I love this place. Yes, I like to shop at Super King, Big-Saver, Bristol Farms, Food-4-Less, Costco, 99-Ranch, and 7-11. BUT, this is two-minutes from me. This is the best Vons ever. Why? One reason is because so many people shop here and that keeps everything fresh. The old Turnover Factor. And --- the fish/meat department is helpful. My friend likes to drag me to this place when we need the basics, cushy toilet-paper (not the earth-friendly kind either) and tortillas (he has a deep and unabiding aversion to Organic tortillas from Whole Foods. This day the line was particularly slow. Halfway through checking out the person three people in front of us, the clerk disappeared to go do something. Not sure what happened. Vons used to be about service. Now they are all about trying to direct traffic into the self-checkout line. Now tell me, why would I do a checker's job for free for Vons? Who do they think they're kidding anyway? The checker who came and offered us self-check actually THANKED US for not using it. In a store with policy and employees so conflicted, no wonder there are problems. I'm sure these aren't the only ones future shoppers will encounter. My advice, head to Whole Foods people. It's kind of funny to write a review for a grocery store, or to have a favorite grocery store, but this one is it. Two reasons: The manager - don't know his name but he's a very friendly dark-haired gentleman - is the friendliest and most helpful person I've ever encountered at a grocery store. The kid-friendly shopping carts - My two-year-old talks about these shopping carts when he's at home playing, about to fall asleep, random moments. Taking him to the grocery store used to be an ordeal. Now we come specifically to this Vons so he can ride in the red, yellow, pink or black car-shopping-cart with double steering wheels so he feels like he's driving the cart. Oh, and I think the nice manager guy ordered these carts. The other Vons near us in South Pasadena doesn't have them. And the rest of the staff here is really nice too. They always engage my toddler son in small talk which can be interesting since nobody but me quite understands what he's saying. That's it. Favorite grocery store review complete. My 3 stars are an average of numerous shopping trips and experiences at this Vons over the course of several years of coming to this store. First of all, this place is more pleasant to shop at during the day than at night, but I feel like this is the case for most stores and shopping trips, and discomfort regarding the homeless people and aspects like that need to be funneled into desire to change the conditions in the Greater Los Angeles Area that are causing the homeless population to increase in numbers unseen before in regional history. I feel bad for the security guard who works at night, he's a really nice guy, and seems frustrated, which is understandable. The workers are helpful and do what they can, but their new ownership as a company has created changes that are not "improvements", by any stretch of the imagination. Hopefully, Vons corporate can restore some of the features that made this location preferable to the one closest to me, particularly their stocking competency, and maintenance of the aisles and products. read more

Ok here it is. I went there at 6:30 am today. Everyone I spoke with was cordial and polite. Then I dealt with Audrey the morning shift manager. I asked where do I put my walker so I can use the electric cart. She never assisted me just pointed behind her and said check stand 7. She was to bust looking at her computer. An update, please get your act together in this location!! Every time I come in, no matter the time of day or day of the week, the aisles are blocked by people restocking the shelves. It's an obstacle course to get what you need. And there're never more than 2 checkout lines open. Really great service. Always accomodating, AND they have a Starbucks stand inside. If you want to make sure to get a good watermelon, they'll cut you a piece to taste before you buy it. If it isn't any good, they throw the whole melon away which makes me feel kind of bad for being so wasteful. Of all the chain markets in Pasadena, Vons has the best produce. Although it can be a bit pricey, I highly recommend that you shop smart by having your coupons ready and don't forget to the sign up for the digital coupons (we got a steal on kitty litter of all things). The bakery is probably my favorite (especially the French bread). The parking can be a bit of a nightmare when it's busy, but, if you go at night, it's a lot less crowded and surprisingly relaxing when you've had a long day. OH! If you have a Vons card, you earn gas rewards for Chevron, which, in my opinion, is excellent gas. Have a good time! read more

I go to this Vons a lot. It's near my work. But today was the last straw. The deli counter customer service is horrible. The lady working the deli counter passed me up for a different customer. I used to get all my glocery at this Von's when I lived on Green street. I haven't shop here for a couple of years after I moved to Rose Bowl. I was in the area yesterday and wanted to pick up cellory and chicken here after lunch. I was dissapointed to see that the price of many items I always get at Ralph's is actually higher here at Von's. That was not the case in the past. I could walk to Ralph's before, but I drove to Von's due to the lower price. I guess they want to be Whole Food now. I was too lazy to stop by Ralph's, so I bought everything at Von's anyway. When I got home and started cooking, I was so disgusted by this Von's. The reason for the one star is the misleading product label on the two packages of "extra lean," "expertly trimmed," "trimmed and ready" chicken thighs. They were just boneless chicken thighs like the ones in every supermarket. All they did was to fold the big piece of fat in the back, so all you can only see the lean meat wrapped in the package. It took me half an hour to trim off all the fat. What were they thinking? People might get fooled for one time , but then they shop somewhere else. I wouldn't shop here even if I lived next to this Von's. Why not just label it as boneless chicken thighs like everyone else? What else you want to trick people into buying? Now I appreciate Ralph's a lot more, cause you want to shop at a place you can trust. read more
