This Ralphs typically has everything I need in stock, has my orders prepared ahead of schedule, and the staff are friendly and prompt when bringing my items out to my car. I would suggest parking a bit closer to the store as I've seen a shady character or two on the streets (they've been frequenting the area a bit more often these days). It was very close to closing time and I needed to purchases some of my 2-year-old daughter's favorite foods. A. This stores restroom was nasty I had to use the restroom there was shit on the floor the tall white guy was like u can use it but don't use the dirty one I said oookay why would I go use the dirty one the smell was horrific that I wanted to throw up instead of cleaning it. I'm not sure why I continue to shop at this establishment. The employees aren't an issue but the quality of their food? Absolutely terrible. I've uncovered some grotesque 'surprises' many a time once I get home and try to eat. I'm not sure what's going on in the back but it's clear that somebody is messing with some of their food in some way and some higher-ups really need to look into that if they want to stay open. I used to shop at this Ralphs location many years ago when i worked in Pasadena. I was here not too long ago visiting people and i stopped here just to grab some things for our party. Its a huge Ralphs with a big parking lot. Nice deli area and the store is usually for what i can remember well organized. Tight security at the store because it is in a kind of bad area of the city. Homeless hang out in the lots. Some sketchy people trying to break into cars. Staff was cool here. Just felt good visiting after so many years. read more

I grew up in Porter Ranch and was fortunate enough to know that wonderful Fresh Ralphs do exist. Since this Ralphs in Pasadena is now the most convenient for me to go to, I can't stop raving about how much I miss the Porter Ranch one. The customer service from the managers ( except the older African American gentleman) is just as shitty as their manager specials! Food rots faster, packages I have bought are sometimes open. Now I'm paranoid about the groceries here! If you decide to eat any of these items get a tetanus or rabies shot! Hell, maybe start some anti-retrovirals. It's really bad experience shop here with the old lady at self checkout line. There is no plastic bag next to the checkout machine that's why I didn't purchase a bag! When I walk out I saw they put all bags at one corner. So I take one, and the old lady wasn't at her work station. Suddenly she came out and walk to me, speak loudly like "why you stealing a bag? Just 10 cents" Yes! It's fucking 10 cents, why I didn't take 100 of them but just one! If you want your customer to pay bags, plz put them next to the checkout machine！No one pay without seeing them there. March, 26, 2021 at 9:00pm upon entering Ralph's (place I go every single day) I was stopped by a security officer stating no backpacks are allowed. Again - I come every single night to buy avocados and banana. Every single night. I see Kurt every time I come. Learn your customers Manager Kurt!! How come this is the first time? But okay, I asked where do you want me to place my bag? He said - right there on the floor. So, I said NO! I'm not placing my backpack on the floor! Where else can I place it? Can I place it on the counter? The manager on duty named Kurt stated, "yeah". This situation is laughable. Okay! No problem. As I'm gathering my avocados I noticed 2 Caucasian gentlemen having a backpack!! So, I'm thinking - was I just been discriminated against? Really? So, after I checked out - I had to inform Kurt the situation. The guy could not careless. He kept saying, it's how you feel. I don't see anyone with a backpack. We stopped everyone and it's our policy. So, I said - be fair. If you're going to stop everyone from carrying their backpacks - stop EVERYONE. not someone you THINK will steal or because it's not white! I will be contacting corporate until I get to the bottom of this surreal experience. I always carry my backpack to NOT use plastic bags. Furthermore - I've never been stopped 5 years I've been living in Pasadena,CA - and guess what? I plan on showing corporate every single transactions I've made even though I had my backpack and wasn't stopped - I still paid full price! The way I was treated here at Ralph was embarrassing, disgusting and really unacceptable. This racism/profiling must stop! PS - if this really is a "Policy" there should be a dedicated bag holding area with security cameras. A dirty floor is NOT and should never even be considered a bag holding area. This review is based on 2 specific people who work here: The bald headed man (manager, I think) and the security guard (daytime) . Everytime we come here the security guard gives us a dirty look and follows us through the aisles and even out to the parking lot. He doesn't even try to be incognito and play it cool, he literally lets us know he is there to follow us. Most staff members , including security are usually friendly to customers who patronize the businesses they are in. Not here, not for these 2 specific employees. Once we were in the self-serve registers and the bald man manager was watching our every move. He was standing firm at the front of the store and just watched us. We don't purchase any bags and just placed our scanned and purchased items back in our cart, but he still looked at our cart and asked me to show my receipt. He didn't do this to anyone else in the self serve. And then after looking at my receipt, asked me " did you pay for that ice cream?" , like why would I pay for all my groceries and not pay for one ice cream??!! And to top it off, my husband was racially attacked in their parking lot! Because of all this, we no longer shop there and avoid going there for any reason. This Ralph's is the closest grocer to me and I usually come in for sale items. Prices are $$-$$$ which is why I usually only come for sale items. They have some great meat sales and I love the quality of their meat, fish, and chicken. Also, on occasion they have $5 family meal deals of baked or fried chicken that cannot be beat. Customer service is usually great, but in the evenings expect a line when shopping. The store has a nice sized parking lot and I never have trouble finding parking. Also, check out the clearance corner. They often have a good selection of everything from cereal, baby formula, diapers, and beer at very low prices. read more

I feel like I may be a bit prejudiced because this is the store I have been shopping at for 7 years but I feel like it is so well laid out and I can find everything I need. I love that the organic/non-GMO/gluten-free healthy type options have been expanding over the years and now I feel like I can do a full run of grocery shopping here without feeling like I need to stop at Sprouts or Wholefoods to pick up some item them didn't have. Today was interesting. Usually this store is well maintained and welcoming. The floors were sticky almost everywhere and items were less than moderately stocked. After picking uo some prepackaged fruit, I noticed the juice was leaking out of the container. Of course the associate wasn't any help: no wipes, no hand sanitizer, only directions to the restroom across the store. Well, talk about a disgusting pit. Fecal matter everywhere.... Theres usually only an issue of having to wait 15+ min to checkout because there aren't many registers open at the same time. Today, it took over 15 minutes to FIX the incorrect charges. I made the mistake of buying 4 packs of canned soda (must buy 4 for reduced price). First, you can't mix and match, no matter what the cashier said. It didn't give me the discount when I mixed sprite and Pepsi- the cashier said it wasn't included, so I showed her a photo of their signs. Then she said it was because they're a different company (not true). So I ended up getting 4 Sunkist and 4 Pepsi's. She rang me up for a total of 7. I had loaded my car with the sodas when i noticed the $6 difference so I went back in to tell her. It took her awhile to figure t out, even though She could easily see her mistake by just seeing that the discount was not applied 3x. Instead she wanted me to bring back all 8 packs of soda from my car so she could ring them up individually. Idk why since there were canned sodas in the front of the store that were also part of the deal. When she processed the return, she processed 8 returns instead of 7. (I had only paid for 7 the first time). I pointed it out because I wanted to make sure she knew what she was doing. In the end she charged me for 9 canned packs to make up for the extra canned refund ‍. I also returned the waters that were misleadingly placed next to Kroger water sale signs. I requested $20 cash back. The cashier, Hazel neglected to give it to me. When I went back I was told by the incredibly rude manager, Linda I would have to come back "tomorrow". Hazel also screwed up the order before me because she wasn't listening to the customer. The service in this store is horrible. I only stopped because it was on my way home. Next time I will go where I normally go-VONS! This Ralph's hasn't been the same since Dudley left. Linda and Hazel both need basic customer service skills. I would give this place five stars because I come here very often and it's my primary grocery store. I have no complaints on the quality of produce or food. Today when I was in the self check out line which I always use, the person monitoring the self check outs was staring excessively at me. I mean standing right next to me watching everything I do. When I finished my first transaction my husband was going to purchase his items next. She sees things in the cart and says "are you going to pay for that?" I was actually refused to my change due to a supposed "Coin shortage", and instead told they can only put change on to their "Ralphs Club Card". How can all the other stores in Los Angeles County that I do business with have chance, except Ralphs Pasadena? I've gone to Ralphs twice in 2019, and four times in the last five years. I'm disappointed to experience on numerous occasions the salmon fish filets in the glass case sold are not fresh. WILD vs FARMED salmon are NOT CLEARLY MARKED. Other seafood put out is spoiled/container seal broken & tampered with. Additionally, when asked to have fresh fish cut, staff was combative & refused. Several staff handling meat & seafood don't properly wear masks if they wear one one their chin. Moreover, person bagging regularly leaves items out even though already paid for. This is my go to place for groceries. Not too far from home and easy to park at. They have a pretty good selection in terms of vegetables and fruits with a small section of organically grown ones too. The employees are all helpful and friendly, making the shopping experience nice. I drink a lot of Powerade so I go here because they always have them on sale, sometimes less than $1. I got some salmon, asparagus, and potatoes for dinner tonight and a whole lotta of other stuff that I didn't need but again I was hungry and everything looked good today.
