I choose to go to Ralphs for the convenience and occasional good sales. At honestly, I am not that service oriented as I prefer self check out. But when the staff is blatantly rude and not their for the customers it is annoying and causes me to think twice about giving my business to them. This Ralphs should ban use of personal mobile phones by their employees. In one trip, I ran across three employees texting on their phones instead of assisting customers. The worse was when the checker was texting while a patron and I watched in line. Once I finally was to be checked out, she promptly said I'm off now and walked away. She didn't even say it to me. I stood their dumbfounded while finally someone was called to help me. My second encounter was at a different visit when I had to pack my own groceries while the checker checked his phone. Go elsewhere, Trader Joes is right up the street with helpful, welcoming staff. read more

Another TERRIBLE MONSTROUS HORRIBLE experience with Ralph's delivery. And STRESSFUL! Bad and wrong substitutions for items ordered. No prior contact but someone at Ralphs simply, for example, substituted 2 champagne splits for 1 champagne whole bottle. Without asking. Aren't they supposed to get approval? That's what cell phones are for. And half the remainder of the order was out of stock. So the delivery person showed up empty and wrong-handed. Plus could not speak a word of English. But rather dropped the stuff off, mumbled something and scuttled away. My spouse, who happens to be sick (otherwise ordering from Ralph's is rightly off-the-table) went to our local Ralphs where the manager is a friend and learned that the order had been sourced from a wrong Ralphs miles away, necessitating a drive to make the return. Which is underway right now. I am sure it will be a painful experience. So the lesson is: Never ORDER FROM RALPH'S DELIVERY. Period. The web-based shopping experience is primitive, complex and confusing. Whereas Amazon does it right. I don't have a problem with the store aside from the high prices, but I gave it 2 stars for this one reason. DOGS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE STORE!!!! Unless a seeing eye dog. None of this emotional support animal BS. I love all animals especially dogs. But they should not allow their dogs in the store sniffing food or other items, or in shopping carts. This Ralphs is the closest to us. I haven't been for a few months but decided to go today since it's been awhile. Also needed to stock up on some essential items and staple foods. I usually visit in early mornings as the parking lot can get a bit touchy and inside the store as well. I've always appreciated the cleanliness and immaculate feeling of the store. Today, although I was just going to pop in for a quick trip, it took me a bit longer as I ran into some hiccups. Grabbed a hand basket on the way in thinking I wouldn't need a regular cart. Bad mistake! Mid-way through my shopping trip, a friendly worker named Erik saw me struggling and offered to get me a cart. Feeling a bit embarrassed, I gladly accepted and my cart was on the way. Thank you for this kind offer of assistance and genuine concern. Out of the many years of shopping here, this shows me why I will continue to be a proud customer. As far as checkout, I tend to use the self-check 99.9% of the time. The kiosks took me some getting used to over the years but I actually prefer them over the regular check outs as it's kind of fun (and reminds me of my first job working in a grocery store). Today, however, was a different story. About 75% through my scanning, the kiosk froze! Luckily, another friendly worker named Lisa came by and saved the day. She told me that the kiosks can be temperamental and today is just one of those days. Lisa very calmly told me how we would proceed with the situation: Basically, I would pay for what was scanned and then she would ring up the remaining items on a separate ticket/kiosk and pay for that. Worst Ralph's ever. Worth the trip just to see it. Not enough room for two carts to pass each other. Pharmacy opens 'bout 30 minutes after advertised time of 9am, which is already an hour too late for a pharmacy. Lastly there's between 20-30 people sticking shelves, all with carts, on a Friday morning from 8am-9am. This is an alarming failure that's so bad it's impressive. read more

Good grocery story. I rarely can't find all the stuff on my shopping list. Not true of either Pavilions or Vons in SoPas. Ralphs have really good sandwich rolls, always fresh. The fried chicken isn't bad either, especially when it's fresh. The produce is hit and miss. Not the best of the grocery stores in the area, but mostly good enough. And I like all the self-checkout stations. Unfortunately, they don't do TAP to pay with CC so that slows things down most of the time. But still, it's way faster than the checkout lines and it reduces contact with other people. I've seen quite a few employees and customers with masks on the chin. That's no bueno. Love how this Ralph has all the diverse needs. If I'm craving some Latin food, I come here. If I crave some Asian, this is the place to go. If I want to cook some Vegan food, they have an area for that. You get the idea! Ralph's also stepped up their sushi game and sell bolillos! I don't have to drive out far to other places for the rest which makes life easier! Plus, for the many times, I've been coming here, service is great! Especially today, the person that helped me out with my return on a can opener. He was very understanding and recommended another one to use! Hopefully, this new one will work. I did not have an enjoyable shopping experience as this Ralph's was incredibly cramped and it was awkward to maneuver my shopping cart. There was also some random large backyard furniture in the middle of the dairy/egg area (I think) which took up a lot of space as well. In the fruit/veggie area, it felt like everywhere I turned there were staff members cleaning or restocking or other jobs. Maybe I happened to arrive at the time when they do that, and I'm definitely not saying anything bad about the staff or what they were doing (this Ralphs was better stocked than the one I used to go to) but regardless, the area was arranged in a sort of wonky way, and the space between each stand of fruit or veg was incredibly narrow. They also didn't have a lot of choice for certain goods, for example they only offer a $9 bread flour. I don't think I will frequent this store! read more

This Ralph's makes the most delicious and affordable cakes. The clerk in the bakery section was so helpful in helping me design my cake. When I picked it up , I was so impressed because it was exactly what I had requested. Everyone at my party was totally impressed and even had seconds. This bakery is now my "to go place" for cakes..thank you Ralph's..you beat any other bakeries in taste and prices 5 stars for customer service and quality of their product!! read more

The good, the bad, the ugly GREAT store, spacious, EASY parking, well-stocked quality items! Nice service deli with Boar's head meats if meat is your thing, this is a solid brand. The bad: SUPER crowded on this Covid Saturday 1.30.2021...no crowd control offered by the market, but folks did a good job policing themselves! The ugly: AWFUL, slow, very uncaring apathetic employees that are NOT cleaning, sanitizing, or taking ANY precautions. There is a sign out at self check-out saying "WAIT until the counter has been cleaned". I was a-waiting and NADA....employee STANDING by not doing anything....paper towels and spray next to her....but it never left the table. Such a shame. I can ONLY imagine the FATIGUE they must be feeling during this pandemic...but hey it is your job-yob. I really wonder, does this start at the top with the manager Lisa as I see listed on my receipt? Or are these folks union employees and no matter what you do or don't do you have a job? I do suspect it is the latter. Even pre-Covid large, big-box grocery stores struggle to provide solid customer service. End result: Shop at your own risk and if you can avoid, it is probably best for now. read more

I was driving by on a Wednesday evening in January and I needed a few items. The market was crazy inside as outside. I picked up some necessities as wanted to look at the steaks but too many people was looking at it too. The aisles are clean and enough 2 carts to pass. Depending on the ad, they have good deals. I live in Monterey Park, equal distant between the location at Atlantic Square and the one on Emerson. Both are fine stores but I go mostly to Emerson because parking is better at the Emerson location. When I am in the area I go to the South Pasadena location so I will review it. Like all Ralph's I have been to this is a very clean and well kept store. Parking is plentiful and easy to park. I love the Cherry Blossom trees in the parking lot. The outside of the store is nice because it looks sort of outdoorsy mountain like. The store is well organized and the staff are friendly and helpful. My mom and I were using the self checkout like we do often but I never used coupons in this line before and not sure how to do so. The clerk working at self checkout was very friendly and assisted us with using coupons. I wish I noticed her name so I could mention her. Regardless, she was very pleasant and helpful. The produce manager was very helpful too when I needed assistance. Other departments have staff that is just as good. Oh interesting thing is this location has a pharmacy. We have gotten a prescription or two filled there. This made things convenient. Overall this is an excellent store. read more

If i can give 0 stars I would have. I came here on 5/24/22. Around 5pm. Went to the hot food section to get some chicken and wedges... The female helping me gave me chicken and as I waited for wedges and she saw I was waiting.. Went to check on something else and then decided to help another customer and ignore me. I waited for a while and thought maybe she was looking for a container or something to give me my pound of wedges i asked her for and again she walked again and ignored me. She was very rude and other customers noticed.. I just walked out and left chicken because i wasn' t wasting more time with her rudeness. This is the most convenient location to me, and seems to be the largest as well. I've known the Managers here for almost 30 years from their other stores in Pasadena, and Alhambra. The folks here are very nice to my wife, and always seems to have nice sales on the things I want to buy. They have a huge inventory of clearance items, and I end up buying something each time I peruse the racks. They just recently in the year installed a self-checkout, and it seems to flow faster than the others at Ralph's locations. I'm not sure what steroids they use, but is super fast. read more

Some people who visit this store have no manners and are so dumb. Outside at the parking lot as my kids and I were walking to the entrance, this freaking lady driving with the husband, I guess, on the passenger side stops in the middle of the crossing line and blocking it. This place is my safeway but down south It's not Vons, nor Pavilions, the name is Ralphs they got everything that I need and more this is a pretty good size grocery store their parking always has space So you don't need to get here like a race Normal grocery store, just like safeway up north. No issues with lines, workers seem cool, they have all that you would need during a zombie apocalypse, and it's clean so you're good. They're on a corner so it's more or less easy to get to though if you're trying to go into south pas you would need to hit a u-turn on huntington, but other than that you're good. This is random, but they got my favorite new energy drink there, yerba matte mint. It's great. Just don't too much, it packs a punch! read more

I stopped late at night after a good work out! Bf felt like eating fruit so we decided to drop and of course I wanted to check out if there is any deals! I normally don't shop here but didn't really have much to do so why not. I must say I was impressed with a wide sort of sections and also they were on sale! I bout cheddar cheese, ranch, celery, 2 boxes noodles, lettuce, 2 bottles of fruit juices, and a small container of mixed cut fruits for only $12. 9 items for $12!! Not bad huh? Stopping this late was great too ! No wait in line and it's so hassle free since no one was there. They even have a red box! So we picked up a movie as well. As a market it's fine. It has all the things you need for groceries. But given we're in a day and age when automation WILL make all of these cashier jobs obsolete much sooner than later, the cashiers here suck. You come up and half the time they don't say hello. They ring your groceries and half the time they don't even say the total, but just stand there. Then when I leave, half the time they don't say thanks. No exaggeration. Half the time they act like mindless drones so while I'm against the increasing automation of jobs, these people are so unwelcoming that they might as well be replaced NOW as a cold inanimate machine will be infinitely more friendly than the cashiers at this market. read more

There's literally always only one maybe once in a while 2 cashiers open because they want you to use self check out. I get it self check out is cool and all but when I have a cart full of groceries the self check out area is not ideal. not to mention that the girls who run self check out are so got damn lazy and just stare at you while you scan your items. Just today I went in and I needed help proceeding to the next step and the girl was just standing there??? Helloooo? They are always so grumpy looking. However-- there is a handful of employees that actually do help out when you need it. Store is always clean and well stocked. I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday party and came pick up 30 minutes earlier, but the guy said they entered the date wrong on their computer which is one day after. WTF. No apology and made me mad. My daughter was going to cry because her party started in an hour. I did not want to waste my time to deal with the bakery guy with no customer service. Don't order cake from this store. I am very disappointed. I have to look for a cake somewhere else at the last minute. I used to love Ralph, but for sure not this location any more. I come here every week to buy goodies for my group. I love the bakery section and their large selection of pastries and other baked goods. They are always a big hit at the office. I have also bought some things from their deli when I need something for lunch. Fresh made deli sandwiches are a big hit as well. I usually opt for the chicken cesar salads which are fresh with nice crisp lettuce and juicy chicken! After you grab your food just walk outside and grab a table to enjoy your yummy food. Service is always friendly and helpful. There isn't much of a line in the morning but if there are more than two people in line they will always open another. Make sure you sign up for the Ralph's card to get the added discount. There is a nice big parking lot but could be difficult to get out of with it being at a major intersection. read more

This Ralph's is located on the Atlantic side of this driving nighmare, but on my way home, it's all right hand turns so it's not that bad.
