I walked in the store this morning and all I ask the Cashier Gina if I can have change for a 20. Dollar bill. She replied that she couldn't open the and I had to make a purchase. And then she told me that she did not have the code to open up the register. I've been to the store several times before it's not the first time I ask. A cashier Lilly would have done that for me. The cashier Gena what she said that was her name was very rude one night I was there before closing time and at least 10 minutes before the store was closed. She kept repeating over and over at least every two minutes stating the store is going to close and to bring their items to the register. I was treated terribly by one of your employees for simply mentioning I like to shoot produce with air guns for sport. I am a recreational shooter, and your employee, a middle aged woman whom I can't remember the name of, immediately treated me as if I was a mass shooter. She's even accused me of somehow being a squirrel and bird killer, despite me not even being a hunter. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but this lady would have treated me even more abrasively if I was. I'm going to be avoiding this location from now on if I'm going to be treated like filth and scum, for simply have a recreation and hobby that doesn't hurt anyone. I used to love this store. Great health food finds and a nice variety of Prosecco, Rose, and other wines worth a try. Since ownership changed in the last couple months I'm not seeing many of my go to items and the shelves almost seem bare. New owner (Monica Park) doesn't bother speaking or greeting customers like previous owners. I miss seeing owner pick on select wines too. Guess it's time I find another store to shop or just head over to Trader Joe's instead. read more

I am writing this to bring public awareness to a recent experience regarding the hiring practices at the South Pasadena Grocery Outlet. Grocery Outlet's mission is 'Touching Lives for the Better,' but based on a recent interview for a candidate in recovery, the management's conduct appeared to be in direct opposition to that value. It was reported that the operator, Monica, told the candidate, 'I hire all-stars, and you are not an all-star,' and further suggested they 'would be better off working at Walmart' because they 'fit in there.' In my opinion, using a person's history of recovery as a basis for such condescending remarks shows a deep misalignment with the brand's stated integrity. Recovery is a path of resilience, and to see it met with this type of bias is disappointing. A neighborhood business should be an asset to the community; until the leadership here aligns with the mission of making lives better, I believe the community should be aware of this location's culture. read more

I like to go there after church on Sunday mornings and convenient parking is very ample. The shelves are well stocked and often contain some unexpected new products at surprisingly low prices. Really like the lady checker who calls me honey and i like to observe what other happy customers are buying to get new ideas. Think i will try their lemons and flowers next visit. read more

3.4 stars I appreciate this grocery outlet. It has free parking and a bunch of bargain-priced snacks and goodies. I always find gems like Dr. Praeger's veggie patties for $2.99, which is such a steal compared to Whole Foods' price of $5.99 per box. Today, I bought jalapeno goldfish snacks for 99cents, box of Cheeze-its for $1.49, mini oreos at 4bags/$1, and small bags of chips for 2bags/$1. I splurged on moringa powder, but I don't regret it. Their most expensive items are the fresh fruit and veggies. But if you don't mind fruit that might be a little ripe like bananas, it can be a good deal. I freeze bananas that are too ripe for smoothies or make banana bread. Overall, a decent place to shop. read more

A solid 3 or 3.5 star experience It's always so fun to walk around this store (or any GO). I've learned you can't go with any particular grocery necessity in mind bc the inventory changes over so much and you can't be guaranteed that they'll have your item. So if you do find something you like, snap it up bc it won't be there the next visit! Generally they'll have lots of discounted wine (of mediocre quality imo -- and I'm not even that picky!), a great selection of snacks, and a nice variety of cheeses and dips. You can also get what I like to call "guest bath" niceties like body wash, hand towels, lotions/hand creams. When I went in here to this South Pas GO it only had one checker working so the line got really backed up (and they left their station temporarily to go do a price check). I almost thought they were the only person working in the whole store, but when the line was 8-deep they finally paged for assistance. I get to try vegan items I wouldn't normally buy at other more expensive stores. Lily cashier was super friendly and fun. Store was clean. Some items did not have prices/ correct prices thoug I think this location was a Big Lots at one time. But I haven't been to this area since Dec 2019. Plenty of parking available. Carts are in parking lot by sidewalk. There is a sign that carts are sanitized but they were not. But you should bring your own sanitizing wipes / disinfectant to be sure. People can be gross as we all know. The cart I pulled out was a bit sticky on the handle. Who knows why. If you haven't checked out Grocery Outlet yet this is a great location to try! This is my go to store for groceries at affordable prices. I really like that they are open at 7am. They have a wide selection of name brand products at very affordable prices. I've gone here many times before to grab a few things first thing in the morning and are greeted with a "Good morning!" from cashiers to stock people working the opening hours. It's really rare to be greeted at stores lately. I really appreciate that warm greetings when I'm shopping. One person that I want to mention is Lily the cashier. I heard via Nextdoor that this place had recently opened up, so I stopped by to check it out. I was impressed with how clean and organized it was. This location is not as big as your typical grocery store but they have a nice selection of household and grocery items and the isles are very spacious. The prices here are cheaper than standard grocery stores mainly because they are independently owned and some of the products that they sell are near their expiration date. In addition to your standard fare they carry gluten free items and health conscious items. Id give this place a 3.5. It offers affordable groceries in this day and age, but leaves much to be desired. It's not uncommon for their fresh produce to be going bad (make sure to double check) but they do have great deals in terms of meat, dessert, canned items, and a surplus of goods from previous holidays. I wish we had the option of no stars! What a bad experience this place was. I had plugged in my email for a coupon for $3 off if you spend at least $25 on groceries, excluding alcohol. I made sure to spend at least the $25 on groceries, and by my calculations, I had spent $28. The shelves were low on inventory and the aisle freezers barely had product. The prices were not that outstanding and a glimpse of the booze area showed Jack Daniels to be substantially higher than Vons or Trader Joe's. I saw Miracle Whip that had a 50 cent coupon attached to it, the entire shelf had these bottles, so I grabbed one. Upon check out, the Miracle Whip coupon would not go through. A guy, whom I guess was the manger, came over and said that they didn't take the manufacturers coupon. I told the guy that the coupon was attached to the bottle and the shelf was full of them! He repeated that they didn't take the coupon, so, I pulled the Miracle Whip out and told the cashier to remove it. Before the cashier would ring up my wine, he asked for my ID.....really????? I am 66 years old and do not look anywhere near being 21! I pull out my ID and show it to him. He rings up the wine and I hand him the $3 off coupon, which would not go through. The manger guy said the coupon did not include alcohol. I told him 3 times that I had to spend $25 on groceries, which I did, but he he didn't even look at the total of the grocery amount. By this time, there was a line and I was fed up. I pulled my cart out of the check out, took all the groceries out of my bags and said forget it, I have had enough, and left the store. One set of boxes on a pallet by an open top freezer and the other two boxes laying randomly, on the floor, at least 20 ft from the cold case . At no time did an employee approach that area. I was in the store no less than 10 minute, looking at produce alone, before I understood what I was seeing. I even double checked I was so put off. Raw meat, in shipping boxes , un attended on the floor. At no time did any employee approach this area, or attended to the raw products. Clearly a health and safety issue. There is no amount of time that would be safe to leave raw meat un chilled in a retail environment. read more

My sister told me about grand opening of Grocery outlet in South Pasadena (firmer big lots). I went on a Friday morning and found parking easily. Inside it is spacious compared to other Rosemead. The aisles are clean and well stocked with lots of workers stocking shelves. They have lots of good deals, such as biscotti cookies .99 cents or big bag of tater tots 1.99 or steak sauce 3.99. No lines at the registers and she was nice to help me, but her register couldn't print out my receipt. I didn't want to wait so I left as she apologized. read more

If you have been to Grocery Outlets before, this store is pretty consistent with other Grocery Outlets. Since 2015, Grocery Outlets have been sprouting over SoCal in greater numbers and I am really glad that this store is finally in my neighborhood! I love the concept - -outlet prices for some soon-to-expire food supplies = hopefully less food waste since the US generates a lot of food waste! -franchising opportunities - stores are independently operated! I love opportunities supporting the American Dream. -a few dedicated parking spaces (unlike most grocery stores, Grocery Outlet reserves a few spaces for Veteran parking and Family as well) This store- -The aisles are wide which is especially appreciated during this time when socially distancing is important t to reduce the spread of COVID. -plenty of cleaning supplies as the store did open up during a pandemic (hand sanitizer and towel/ cleaner for the shopping basket were readily available) Tips for new people- -watch for expiration dates! Some products may be expiring very soon whereas others may be good for several months / much later -you won't always find your typical staple there. I have found the usual brand of milk/ bread / spices to be regularly available so be adaptable Some annoyances - - the parking lot is unforgivingly a hazard-- tight car spaces, narrow space to leave, cars speeding in (honestly wished the parking lot was redesigned for a market which has wider spaces for carts/ speed bumps or dips) Overall it was a super friendly experience. The meats are priced fairly and nice options available. They offer a wide variety of goods from food to household needs. Their wine and liquor section is attractive. There's 9 people in my household. I knew this place didn't give a shit about its customers or employees but today took the cake! They had a grand reopening according to the cashier apparently today. I had no idea I just came to shop as usual. When I showed up the whole South Pasadena fire department was there. They were giving out free tacos, shaved ice, and coffee. Which would normally be great right right ? But there were a whole bunch of people from corporate according to what I was told, and based on what I saw they treated the day as a day off and honestly I think half of them were drunk. Hey whatever its cinco de mayo! And they were just bullshiting at each other like no big deal. Honestly I didn't give a shit. But when two ladies that I know work there came out to get a taco and they we're told no. That pissed me off! I gave the lady's the tacos that had just been given to me. Its like a cross between Aldi and Big Lots! They seem to have more name brand items than Aldi and they're usually a good deal. But I would say that their strength is in the dry goods and snacks. They have some really good deals if you comb through the aisles and look at all te products. I would say that the weak point they have is their groceries and produce. There are some deals to be had, but for the most part they just didn't seem to have a great selection and the prices were about the same as most grocery stores. Love this and most Grocery Outlets. Judging the negative reviews I'd say too many South Pasadena Karens that should just stick to your Whole Foods. Grocery Outlet has fantastic prices and named brands on boxed and packaged goods. Part of the prices they get are based on shorter shelf life so do watch expiration dates. Proteins and produce are in line with Aldi's. Pay close attention as again price is based on short windows for consumption. Staff is always friendly and store is always clean. The location has had shoplifters I've witnessed frequently so the staff has to keep an eye out for it, blame our poor laws and politicians not the mom and pop Grocery Outlet protecting their well being. read more
