Service was a tad slow on a Saturday night, as there were many large parties and a lot of people staying around even though they were done with their meal, since it's the only retail store in the block. Parking can be difficult when it's busy, so recommend coming early, especially with large parties and putting yourself on the help waitlist early! Absolutely delicious sushi! Every time I've gone here it is always mouth-watering. And I've probably been here more than five times. Crowd favorites are the spicy crunchy rainbow roll, and the Hamachi bite! I've also tried the jalapeño Hamachi and it is divine. My favorite starters are the grilled edamame, but ask for less sea salt. The poke nachos were good too, but I would skip out on those and get a roll instead, unless you're there for happy hour! If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I've been a loyal Amakara customer for years, but after this disaster of a visit, I'm done for good. The restaurant was filthy when we walked in crumbs on every surface, tables left dirty, and not a single staff member seemed to care. It was honestly disgusting and made me wonder if they pay this little attention to cleanliness in the kitchen, too. Our server, Angie, was shockingly unprofessional. From the start, she acted like helping us was a chore. Every question about the menu was met with "I don't know" or "I'm not sure." If you're working in a restaurant and can't be bothered to learn the menu, why are you there? But the worst part: while clearing our table, Angie dropped a full cup of sake all over my outfit soaked my clothes and even got inside my phone. Not only did she not apologize, she just shrugged and repeated, "It was an accident," as if that excused everything. She didn't offer to help, didn't offer to cover my dry cleaning, didn't even show a hint of concern for ruining my night. I asked for a manager, expecting at least some basic professionalism or an attempt to make things right. Instead, Angie returned to the table with even more attitude, telling us someone else would take over. When the manager finally bothered to show up, they barely acknowledged the situation and offered zero solutions not even the bare minimum of an apology or a gesture like covering my dry cleaning for the outfit they ruined. This is a complete failure of management. If this is how the staff is trained to treat loyal customers, I can only imagine how they treat everyone else. The food isn't good enough to justify being treated like an inconvenience. Amakara has clearly stopped caring about their customers. I left feeling disrespected, ignored, and smelling like sake. Delicious sushi spot located in Dublin. It can get pretty busy here but we came for an early dinner/happy hour and were able to get seated right away. We were given a happy hour menu so we were about to order from it but then the waitress let us know she made a mistake as there are no happy hour specials on Friday. We had to pivot to the regular menu, not a huge deal. We ordered a sashimi assortment, calamari, chicken karaage, and a couple of roles. Everything for the most part was very fresh and delicious, but unfortunately the chicken was overly salted. I should have known it was gonna be good when it was packed as soon as I walked in, luckily we were able to snatch a table after 10+ minutes of waiting. Their Sweet Tart Martini was my favorite drink that I tried, and their Lychee Martini was runner up! They're both on the sweeter and fruitier side which is what I typically like to order. The rolls that we got here were tasty, I normally don't like ahi tuna but it was super fresh here. I think our favorite thing that we ordered was their Edamame appetizer. It has the perfect amount of seasoning and char, it was pretty addicting to eat and we had no problem finishing it. Been to Amakara a couple of times now and every time has been solid. Their food is pretty good! What stands out is the pretty atmosphere and ambience with plenty seating + bar seating. Unfortunately my last experience with my mom has not been the best and not sure if we will be returning and finding another sushi spot. We ordered a spicy sesame tuna roll - it was ok. It was one of the most expensive roll and I was expecting a lot more, but I feel like the fish and flavor was subpar. We also ordered the hosomaki and it was really yummy! Good fish and rice ratio. Now for service. Note: it's a Friday so it is packed and I know how busy and frustrating it can be working in a service (specifically food) industry. We ordered and waited around a good amount of time but also again it was a Friday so expected. We got the sushi first and ate it all but the fried oysters we ordered were taking a fairly long time. I asked our waiter and she said we never ordered it- but she definitely took it as she acknowledged it when we pointed it out in the menu saying we want to start with this. Confused, I told her we did order it and she put it in but now she's saying we never said it. Interesting! I wasn't really upset about it but my mom got upset and she told her just to take it off the bill and the waiter gave us a look and walked away. We had to wait awhile to get water, to order, and to checkout at the end. Although the place was extremely packed, so understandable. I ordered the grilled edamame to share, the mixed hosomaki, and the chefs nigiri. One thing for sure is that the fish is very good quality. It is on the pricey side, but not exorbitant. On the nigiri, I loved the little toppings on each piece; spiced up an otherwise plain boring nigiri. The hosomaki was simple and boring, but still good! Good proportion of fish to rice. As for the grilled edamame, I've only ever had steamed edamame, so this was a surprise. It wasn't omg amazing but definitely an improvement to your regular steamed edamame. Overall, really good food! I'm not so much a fan of the vibes. It gets pretty loud. Came here on a Friday night at 6:30pm. Sat down right away at the bar. We were greeted from the bar server and our drinks were made on the spot. I ordered the spicy pineapple margarita and my husband got a bourbon and Coke. Both drinks were very good and mine has fresh pineapple and chiles in it. We ordered the mixed tempura and it was fresh and delicious. It had lightly battered fresh vegetables and a mix of shrimp with a dipping sauce. Highly recommend! We came during a Saturday night around 5:45pm and we put our name on the waitlist. They told us it would be about 45 minutes and to let them know when our whole party of 7 was there. As soon as the others came in we let them know and then we waited only about 5 minutes so a total of 15ish. I've been eyeing Amakara for a while and decided to try it last week. I was pleasantly surprise by the ambiance inside, it was a mix between a nice restaurant and a pub. We got seated immediately although we arrive there earlier (5:30pm) and after 6:00pm it was packed. The food was good! We started with some grilled shishito peppers, mix tempura and a hamachi carpaccio. The peppers were the best appetizers, having a nice char flavor. The tempura was just ok but I felt their batter was too floury. The hamachi carpaccio was a bit disappointing because the soy sauce covered the flavor of the fish completely. Now their nigiris were fresh and had the right balance between rice and fish. They have some nice cuts that you wouldn't find at other places like Sea Bream. Their rolls were ok, I'll stick with the nigiris next time. Lastly the desserts were good, the mango bomba and coconut sorbet were the perfect palate cleanser. I love Amakara, we've been going consistently since they first opened on Regional. My pregnancy craving was their spicy ramen... and they were our Pandemic go to to go!! So of course for my baby's 15th birthday we chose Amakara for her bday dinner. The food was spectacular as always, but last night was one of the first times I felt rushed and found the server a little lackluster. We were there less than an hour total in the early evening, table of 3, and spent more than $200. They should NOT have been trying to bus the table while we were sitting there wrapping up. If someone has chopsticks on the sushi platter, even if they're making art with the spicy mayo, that is your cue to keep moving- not try to clear the dish. Usually when I drink expresso martini it has more of a coffee taste, this one was on the sweeter side. Love their oyster shooter the best place I have tried for oyster shooter so far. Ended dinner with a hot toddy. For food I order the tonkatsu don which was okay, you can definitely tell it is pork by the smell of the tonkatsu. I haven't had it before where the smell was that noticeable while eating it. Also the Saba nigiri was okay. I've had better before here, but this time it wasn't that great. Unsuprisingly the fish on the nigiris were just cheap cuts of fish theyd like to get rid of instead of actual chefs choice and they looked and tasted like grocery store sushi. The seating was comfortable but the music was too loud to enjoy a comfortable conversation. We asked Chan to lower the music and she did, but the management needs to lower the background music and make sure it doesn't become the foreground music....and changing the type of the music to something pleasing to listen would tremendously help in enjoying the food.
