Amakara is 4.5/5 stars. Delicious, quality sushi in the Tri valley area! Get here early on weekends because it's very popular and limited retail parking. Nice ambiance and quick service.

Always a good spot for sushi in Dublin! It's a great place for date night or grabbing a bite with friends. Lots of seating but does get pretty packed on the weekends or on holidays! We use the waitlist option on Yelp since they don't do reservations. They have a full bar and often change up their seasonal drinks which is always delish! Pretty big menu for a sushi spot which is great for people who have restrictions ! They are also very accommodating, you just have to ask!

We decided to visit Amakara for our late Father's Day since we didn't have time to go anywhere yesterday. I am quite surprised that the place isn't that big for a modern environment. I went around and thought that there's going to be more room but it's not what I expected. Also am surprised that it's that many people on Monday but I guess they're celebrating late Father's Day too? Anyways, the food is really delicious and quality is tremendous. Very upscale honestly especially with how big the portion sizes are. I individually got Chicken Katsudon and it's not really hard. Very chewy and I couldn't finish it since I ate a lot of sushi before it arrived. My sister didn't even finish her individual plate too and so we ended up taking them to go. What shocked me is that they serve us a huge portion of desserts especially the green tea ice cream. I thought that it's only going to be one scoop but they gave us 3! I think the one scoop is for someone's birthday? I don't know. And the vanilla ice cream with grilled pineapple is so yummy and it had a lot of cinnamon flavor I believe. It's one of the best vanilla ice creams I'd ever had. I probably never tasted vanilla ice cream that good before! I also appreciate the staff for helping with us with our orders! They were so helpful and kind to us. If I ever bring my friends over, it'd be this place. I highly recommend for others to try this place because the food here is really amazing!

My favorite Japanese restaurant since 2008. My favorite dish there is the beef teriyaki steak (medium), spider roll, shrimp tempura and Lion King roll

I came here for my friend's 30th and had a great experience! The restaurant offered a lively atmosphere, super friendly staff, beautiful dish presentation, and very fresh and unique flavors. Our party of six were seated in a spacious booth towards the middle of the restaurant and were warmly greeted by our server. The restaurant had good vibes! After the birthday girlie opened a few presents, one of the managers came to our table to ask if we wanted some group photos b/c she noticed we were celebrating! She was soooo sweet, observant, and attentive! c: After looking at the extensive menu, I knew I wanted to try some of their sushi rolls so I shared a few with a friend. We ordered the Caterpillar Roll, Klondike Express, and the Chili Spider Salmon Roll. These are my ratings / thoughts on our order: - Caterpillar Roll (4/5): This roll is under Amakara's Common Rolls. Filled with unagi, cucumber, avocado and glazed with teriyaki sauce, this roll is a classic and was delicious! The avocado was creamy, the teriyaki was sweet/ umami, and the unagi was delicate and tender. I also appreciate that the pieces were perfectly bite- sized. I'm glad I tried this roll but would prefer to try a new one next time. -Klondike Express Roll (5/5): This roll was tasty and oh so colorful! Rolled with cucumber, crispy, tempura shrimp, fresh crab, and avocado w/ scallop mayo, this roll was an explosion of flavors. I love that it was garnished with bits of crunchy tempura and 3 flavors of tobiko for texture. The tobiko really added "wow factor" to the roll and each color had a subtle citrus flavor! My friend and I were trying to decipher the 3 flavors of tobiko and concluded yellow = lemon, green = lime, and orange = orange. This roll was fun and would definitely order again! -Chili Spider Salmon Roll (5/5): The Chili Spider was BEAUTIFUL and hands down my favorite roll of the night!! This roll is under Amakara's Spicy Rolls and was interestingly topped with vibrant tomatoes, thinly sliced onion, and tender salmon. Filled with avocado and tempura soft-shell crab and drizzled with chili oil and ponzu, this roll was uniquely fresh and delicious! I've never had onions and tomatoes on a roll but it worked and I would definitely come back and have again! I had a great time here with friends and really enjoyed the food! I will definitely come back to try some unique and flavorful dishes!

First off, the wait staff is over the top, the sake, to die for. The sushi, unbelievable. This coming from a strict critic of all things experience and service. Living in San Ramon we've tried nearly everything within an hour mediate region, this place will be our absolute go to from here on. Round of applause for the quality and service, top shelf experience.

Busy lunchtime hangout in Dublin when we were there. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered lunch Ramen and a Poke Bowl. I forgot to take a photo of the Poke Bowl! But I did take a photo of the miso soup that came with it. I'm sure you all appreciate that. Check out Amakara if you're in West Dublin. Food was good yelpers!

We came here to celebrate Mother's Day. They extended the waitlist, you can join ahead from home since it could be 60-90 minutes wait. It used to be you can only join where you come near the restaurant. It must be only for busy days like Mother's Day? There was a sheet offering specials for Mother's Day, cocktails, mocktails, a kurobuta pork belly and 2 desserts. We ordered our usual fare. Great service by Ariel, she handled everything as a pro, even with the crazy business. Food came out with no delay. The only change that we noticed id the teriyaki beef. The rib eye was usually so tender and juicy, everybody that we invited here were amazed how tender and great they were. Yes, we came here quite often, and brought every and all out of town guests here. But today they were tough, on the dry side, even though cooked Rare and MediumRare. All 3 steaks. So disappointed. We finished with the Biscoff cookie sundae, which they had for Valentine, a tempura fried ice cream dessert with crumbles of Biscoff cookies and caramel drizzles. So good. The room was busy with laughter and guests enjoying the food and company on this holiday.

Agedashi tofu is pretty good. Have tried several places but this place has it just right. Rainbow roll was one of their popular rolls! Recommend ordering that. Our fave was the mixed sashimi. The pieces were thick! All the fish was very fresh like they had just come out of the ocean. I was impressed. The scallop had thinly sliced like pieces in between and was the chefs kiss on it. Complement the scallops so well. None of the fish had any weird fishy taste to it at all, which was great! The tuna was beautiful. The octopus wasn't rubbery or too chewy either. Salmon was on point. The mixed sashimi is a perfect amount for two people. Our waiter was pretty attentive too and had good recommendations for us. The menu has a wide range of items and everything looked good at the nearby tables. Didn't order a drink but they had some specials and the ube drink looked really good. They also have some popular cocktails listed that all sounded tasty. Music was a decent level and the place had some good vibes. Will definitely come back and try other items on the menu. Not sure where their parking is but looks like most people parked across the street where the basset furniture store is.

I just realized that I haven't Yelped one of my favorite sushi spots in the East Bay despite uploading over 100 photos across the last decade of meals here. I still remember dining at their old location just a few blocks away. They relocated to this current location years ago with a larger footprint and more seating. It can and will get crowded here on weekend evenings. Your best bet is to join the Yelp Waitlist through the Yelp app about 30-45 minutes prior to arrival on busy nights. For starters: The grilled edmame is so good here! Order this version instead of the steamed version for a treat. The robata grill's char flavor is amazing! Although we make tempura at home, it's still nice to order it at a restaurant every once in a while. We usually order their mixed tempura for a good variety. For sushi: It's always fresh and well-made. The standard sake, hamachi, tobiko with quail egg yolk, ama ebi, toro, uni (from Mendocino the last few times), unagi, and amberjack have always been excellent! I tried their chef's choice mixed sashimi plate last time and loved it. For rolls, I've ordered the following which have all been great: Red Dragon Roll - This consists of spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, spicy may, and red onions. Lemon salmon roll - This is basically a California roll base topped w/ salmon and lemon slices Jalapeno Hamachi Roll - Hamachi and avocado inside the roll topped with jalapeno slices They do offer about 8 sushi options for vegetarians, our favorite being their tempura aspagus roll which also comes with a side of salad. There's also inari or a grilled eggplant nigiri. One plus is the option to sub for brown rice for a small upcharge. The ramen here is surprisingly delicous. The broth is on par with dedicated ramen restaurants. They offer a small kids menu with items ranging from chicken / beef teriyaki, katsu, and plain ramen or udon. It's always a hit with the kids. Great lunch combos here! The fried oysters and sesame chicken combo is my go-to. The chicken is lightly fried, perfectly crispy, and topped with a tasty sauce. They definitely make it better than most places. I love dining at Amakara. However, If I had to note one negative...it'd have to be their parking situation. That's the only drawback. While there are a few spaces behind the restaurant, most of the parking is located within the adjacent condo parking structure. My final review of 2025 goes to Amakara! As you can tell, if you've made it this far, I'm a huge fan of their sushi and entrees, plus, the service is always spot on!

Lunch special- miso soup, salad, rice, gyoza - we opted for tempura and sashimi. Tempura crispy and not greasy.

This restaurant has delicious food at reasonable prices. Service is good. They have excellent lunch and happy hour specials. Drinks are delicious. Tips... the parking lot is small with no street parking in front. May need to get parking across the street. No reservations- will not seat you until all members of your party are present. Table for two is very small- see if you can get a booth. If at a small table do not order everything at once as it won't all fit. Limited space between tables. If you are seated near a large group it can be very noisy. Unlike most fine dining establishments, when they put a suggested 20% tip, it is a tip based on the tax as well- so a 18% tip is actually more accurate for a 20% tip.

I've only been here once so I'm honestly not sure if they have a dedicated parking lot or if there's an easier place to park, but we parked across the street and walked over. Appetizers were bomb. We didn't realize that we went during happy hour, but that definitely made us want to try more things. The Spicy Sesame Wings (not pictured) were fantastic. A bit spicy for someone like me who doesn't do spice too well, but so tasty that I kept on going anyway. The house salad was also very tasty. The shrimp tempura roll had large pieces and I enjoyed that they had the tempura flakes on top. The chasu ramen really wasn't my thing. It was entirely the broth, too. The noodles had a great texture, but I just personally wasn't a fan of the broth. I can fully see how others would like it and enjoy it; it just wasn't for me. All in all I would definitely come back and try more things on the menu but I would definitely get those wings again.

Went with some coworkers for lunch. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Very attentive without being too much. Made sure water was refilled and plates were cleared. I had a couple rolls and miso soup and we shared a mixed tempura. Everything was very good. The tempura was nice and crispy and hot, shrimp was juicy and not overcooked. The spider roll was also very pretty liked the three types of tabiko on top. The hamachi jalapeno roll was great too. The design is modern and comfortable. Plenty of seating. The parking garage has a bit of a weird layout and somewhat tight parking but there were spots available.

    Do they have all-you-can-eat (AYCE)?

Definitely not for Japanese. Korean has ayce and this is a nicer place than most Japanese places. They do have fantastic hh on weekdays.

Do you have a covered outdoor seating?

No and parking is limited street parking

What is on their Happy Hour menu? I only saw a pic of sun- thur special

UPDATE (6/16): Amakara is OPEN. =) They just closed for a few days do to rioting. (6/3/20) CLOSED???…

Sad. This place is great. SIP I heard really crushed their business. I'm hoping they can reorganize under our new normal.

Are u guys still open today for Mother's Day?

Is Amakara open for take out today?

Yes, according to their Instagram (@eatamakara) they've been open for dinner takeout from 4p-closing.

Where do you park at the new Amakara location in Dublin?

In the parking garage behind the unit. It looks like the parking garage for residents but the entire first floor is for retail guests.

Is Amakara open on Mondays? It says it's closed on Google but open on Yelp.

Yes they are open on Monday. They did close on a few mondays in the past to correct some construction problems.…

    Do they take reservations?

Yes, but they only take reservations for parties of 5 or more. Sometimes they don't take reservations on the same night if they are busy, then you have to just join the yelp waitlist.

So it has been awhile since Amakara has been closed and the Open date seems to be pushed back month after month are they closed till 2020 at this rate cause I kinda miss the food from Amakara?

I believe they are almost finished resolving the issue. I have heard a reopen this month or early next.…

    Is this place Family friendly?

It is and it isn't. If you have young children the long wait times if you don't have a reservation may not work for kids. Also sometimes the wait for food may be long when they are busy so that also may not work for kids.

Have they reopened at their new location?

    Yes!

Is the new location open yet?

No, not yet. Follow their Instagram. They just posted a progress picture of the new location. Their IG is @eatamakara

Are they open yet or at any location?

Amakara isn't open in new location yet. Old location is no longer. Follow on face book for news of…

There is a new Amakara restaurant near the Safeway Dublin on the corner in the new apartment complex but has not opened yet. Question is where does the restaurant expect customers to park to dine at their new restaurant?

There is retail parking in front of the leasing center, as well as the entire first floor of the resident's parking garage

Looks like the re-open got pushed back to 7/15, anyone know why it keeps moving? Hope everything is okay!

Should be open soon construction looks pretty complete. But no date released yet

Did they move? And does anyone have their new address?

Yes they moved down the street Re open mid july

Looking for new location? ? 7568 Dublin Blvd. and not open yet!

    Soft opening tonight until 9pm

Are they closed? Yesterday, they were closed(7:30pm)

We are relocating to new location for bigger space at 7568 Dublin Blvd Dublin Ca 94568. We are aiming to open around 7/10.

First of all, Yelp should do something about restaurants begging customers for reviews. People come here based on those ratings, spend a lot of money, and end up with an experience like this. I genuinely don't understand how this place has such high reviews. Normally, even at a bad restaurant, there's at least one dish that's decent. Here, there wasn't a single item I would order again. The nigiri was served at room temperature, which immediately raised concerns. The sushi rolls had an unpleasantly sticky rice texture that completely ruined the bite. Almost every appetizer tasted like frozen, pre-packaged food, and even those weren't prepared well. The shrimp tempura was overcooked and the shrimp was tough. The takoyaki had no flavor at all. The fried dumplings were soggy instead of crispy. The kappa roll and avocado roll looked nothing like the photos. They were ridiculously oversized, almost as if they were trying to fill people up with rice instead of making good ingredients. They honestly looked unappetizing before I even took a bite. The udon was simply bad. The soba was even worse--it had a sour, spoiled taste. I took one sip of the broth and immediately spat it out. The service issue wasn't the server's fault. The restaurant had only one server handling an all-you-can-eat operation, so every dish took forever to arrive, and even getting the check took an incredibly long time. Finally, the restroom smelled so terrible that it completely killed what little appetite I had left. It was difficult to even walk inside because of the odor. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. It wasn't just disappointing--it was a complete waste of money.
