Import Tile was recommended to me by a couple of different contractors, one a general contractor, and the other a tile guy. And they've both been contractors for 30+ years, each. I am not a contractor.
I was working on my mom's bathroom renovation, and I took her to 4 different show rooms, since she didn't have any idea or vision for what she wanted. So it was my job to first figure out what she likes and doesn't like. Some showrooms we went to twice, as the ideas changed and progressed. I ended up going to Import Tile about 6 times over a 3 month period, which is what this review is based on.
There's a certain system at Import Tile, particularly when it gets busy (weekends). When you come in, you can look around, and if you're ready to be assisted, you sign in at the front so the Sales reps know who they are helping next. Then you can ask them questions about the tiles that you are interested in, and can get samples. I recommend walking through the showroom, getting all of your questions together, and then putting your name down to get a sales rep who can then devote time and attention to you. You should know roughly how much square footage you want of any tile that you are interested in, because if they don't have enough tile in stock, they may not be getting more of the same tile (manufacturers discontinue, often) and the conversation about a tile becomes a non-starter. They have recently changed their computer system, but just talking to them and a little patience and every transaction with them had worked out well.
They take a deposit for samples which is refunded after you bring the sample tiles back.
The sales reps were very kind, helpful and intentional. I found that everything went smoothly once I understood how they operate. In particular, the last 2 times I went, Eve and Tom helped me a lot (there were others previously, but I can't remember all of their names).
My mother ended up deciding not to replace the floor, so I ended up with 5 boxes of floor tile, unused! So I decided to give Import a call for a return. Now, I passed the 60 day mark, but I was able to work it out with the Sales rep and was refunded for my purchase, even though I was the one who made the mistake of being late!
Overall: 5 stars. Great sales service (just use their system!), a great variety of tile (most places I found had limitations in design style, like some places just did modern), and great customer service after my mistake. read more
