I never leave reviews but after visiting the Ceramic Tile store where you need to have an appt and if you don't, people are rude anyways, italics is 360 better! Scott Kenny was so kind and helpful. Great experience buying Tile for our bathroom! They have a great selection of larger sizes, which we appreciate because larger tiles mean less grout to clean, and also has a clean contemporary look. Great prices and they actually have tiles in stock at a nearby warehouse. We shopped around, but ended up coming back here. Eddie helped me look and talk through a lot of tile options! The pros and cons of each, what the grout line is going to have to be with certain tiles, how cleanable they will be, etc. And when it was hard to get the edge trim pieces because the manufacturer stopped making them, he made it happen. Eddie was awesome. I had a concept of what I wanted to do and vaguely expressed it to Eddie over email. I walked into the store for the first time in my life and he handed me the exact tiles that I ended up using. He showed me several other ideas to make sure he had the right concept. He was super intuitive and extremely helpful. He even helped me figure out how many tiles to get in each color (I had seven different colors) for my project. The only reason Italics gets 4 and not 5 stars is cause theyre so damn expensive. But they really do take the cake, in my humble (though, generally superior) opinion, for superb taste in tiles in the bay area. I have used tiles from here for 2 bathrooms now, and theyre stunning-- i used them for accents, (as well as inspiration-- they have beautiful designs and layouts in the showroom!) while getting the bulk of my tile from boring old HD. I visited the place on a Friday afternoon, and Pam, one of reps, helped me come up with design/contrast of tiles. She gave really great suggestions on size/color/style etc. Though the store was busy, she ensured that I get all details that I was seeking. I walked in after two weeks of checking out other places in the City where I was met by long lines, illogical pricing and staff that was not educated or interested in their work. BUT ITALICS IS HEAVEN! I go in not looking nice at all and cynical and the lovely Pam greets me warmly and starts to explain things. Within minutes I see tile I have wanted for years and found no where else and at good prices...and Pam wasted no time writing me up an account and let me have samples...no one was letting me have samples anywhere else! So one bathroom done and already back there working on the next bathroom! They got great parking too...and even the nearby warehouse pickup process is friendly and efficient. read more

I have two bathrooms and a kitchen to tile and was shocked that four to five staff who were clearly and completely unoccupied--were somehow unavailable to greet or assist me. Laying out two bathrooms in Italics tiles sure sings beauty. They have it all plus useful infomation like available tiles sizes and shapes of them. Great customer service and nice, small showroom. I purchase beautiful Italian terra cotta tile from here. Prices are a little bit more expensive than Import Tile in Berkeley but the quality is well worth it. Tiles here are mostly neutral so that may or may not be your thing. read more

After searching for weeks at multiple tile stores we finally found one who would take the time to help us select our tile. It seems like many tile stores are so busy these days that unless you're an architect, designer or have a very large job, you just don't get much in the way of customer service. That is NOT the case at Italics. Eddie, our salesperson, was so professional and welcoming as soon as we walked in the door that we knew we had found the right place. Their selection is great, the service is top notch and Eddie made the process so easy. He is extremely knowledgable, never pushy, always ready to pull out one more piece of tile until you find the perfect fit. He also gave us the names of a few local tile setters and the one we used (Gennaro Ortiz) was excellent - professional and efficient. Ours was a fairly small job but we felt that the service would be the same no matter the size or scope of your job. I have been purchasing stone tiles here for years and love the selection. They have quality tiles and they are usually always in stock. I can wait til the last minute to select the tile. We bought tile for all three of our bathrooms from Italics recently, and had a great experience. They have a great selection of modern tiles and decent prices. With the contractors discount the prices were lower than tile stores in the city. The best thing the tile was in stock so we didn't have to pay shipping fees or wait for the tile. We did order these pebble tiles for the shower floor, so that was a special order. But, those came within a few days and the shipping charge was minimal. read more

We had to find trim pieces for already installed tiles because our original vendor did not have anything appropriate. We discovered Italics by accident, and were very happy we did. Even though we were making a relatively small purchase, the salesman was very helpful and showed us a wide variety of shapes and colors. One of the trim pieces was perfect and was on sale.
