We got the floors in our 99 year old house refinished, and Dale was great every step of the way! He responded very promptly to my inquiry, and took the time both over the phone and in person to explain his process. On top of that, his knowledge and expertise were very evident. For our quote, he very thoroughly walked through our house and answered all our questions. It really helped us understand what to look out for, and how to keep our floors in good condition for the future. Not only did he do a great job refinishing the floors (see before and after photos below), he also removed a bunch of squeaks from our floors -- we didn't even know that was possible! The last thing I'll say is that Dale is an incredibly fair vendor -- we originally reached out to him for a full sanding and refinishing of our floors, thinking that was the best way to protect them long term. He took a look, told us they were in pretty good shape, and that he'd recommend a lighter refresh and seal instead -- a service that would be faster, cost us less, and would still protect our floors for the same amount of time as a full refinish. We'd highly recommend him for all your refinishing needs. Thanks again, Dale! read more

We were very pleased with the work done by Swirsding's Floor Service in our home recently. They were quick to respond and scheduled us quickly. Dale and Hector were on time and very courteous. We asked them to recondition our hardware floors and they even asked us our goal for the project and followed up afterwards to make sure we were satisfied. Their pricing was more than reasonable. We would definitely use their services again. read more

Dale and Hector refinished our hardwood floor, transforming them from dark and scratched and tired to bright and smooth. Upon seeing the newly-refinished floor for the first time, my partner said: "It's amazing, it looks like a new floor!". We got in touch with Dale on a friend's recommendation, and he immediately stood out among the floor contractors we were considering: he was prompt with communication and came by quickly to provide a very reasonable estimate; was easy to work with; clearly explained the work he was recommending and why; and was happy to refer us to someone who could handle services Dale doesn't do (i.e. installing flooring where an HVAC vent was being removed). Bottom line: I'm frankly delighted with Dale and Hector's work on our floors. read more

This is a review for over-the-phone advice only. I called Swirsding's to consult about a problem we are having with cupping on our new hardwood floors. Dale answered the phone and took the time to listen to our problem, educate me about the situation, and offer me valuable advice about how to proceed. These days, it doesn't seem like anyone has time to just talk things through. I was grateful that Dale was willing to do this and for his obvious expertise! read more

Dale and Hector did an amazing job on our hardwood floors. There was one area at the top of some stairs that was badly damaged by years of dogs and kids tearing around. They were great to work with and there were practically no dust issues! I highly recommend these guys. read more

WOW!!! Dale and Hector are amazing. We had the worst squeaky hardwood floors. They look great, but they squeaked like crazy. I was originally skeptical that we'd have large holes from the likes of countersnap and needing hundreds of them. The results were completely the opposite. Dale added more nails where there were squeaks at the joists until the noise was gone. The results are impressive! 90-95% of our squeaks are gone. The extra nails are rarely noticeable. See the pic for proof. Here's a video of the before and after: https://photos.app.goo.gl/M2TijdJ7mbXkPm7i9 Absolutely amazing!!! read more

We've just used Dale Swirsding to refinish our entire first floor and staircase. Not only is he a delightful guy, but his crew is very friendly and nice. The work he did was jaw dropping! After 30 years of raising children, big dogs, and general wear and tear, our floors were a mess! I had thought a floor expert would want to replace vast areas of damaged wood, but no! Please see the pictures. Dale is responsive, using texts to communicate. He and his crew are always on time and always informed of progress. read more

If I could give Dale and his team more than 5 stars I would! One thing I can say for sure is that I will only ever use Swirsdings for any floor services, hands down. What set Dale apart was his extreme attention to detail. We had him finish three rooms of hardwood flooring as well as fix some water damaged sections. We also had some really bad nailing done previously as well as some boards that were literally popping out. The result was nothing less than perfect! Dale himself was there every day, inspecting nails, doing the work and ensuring everything came out as well it could. The floors honestly look brand new. He also answered all my questions after the fact to ensure they stayed in this condition. Dale was more expensive than our other quotes, but in this case I can confidently say you get what you pay for. My only regret is that I had previously done my other floors with a different company, and those look much worse. Had I known about Swirsdings, I would have had them do my whole house. If you can book these guys, grab it. You will not regret it! read more

We had a pipe burst in our house and water coved almost two of three floors. Our favorite feature of the house (hardwood floors) was seemingly ruined. We had several companies bid on the project, but Dale was the only one that got down on his knees to look at the floor, requested we remove a grate to check the thickness of the floor. He taught us a lot about the how and why we liked out 1940's floor better than even new floors. Ask him about the dots... I was onsite during the duration of the project working on other repairs. Dale and Hector were very easy to work with in this regard. They used amazing technology to mitigate dust and the results were better than the day we moved in. I will only use them for future projects in my house. Dale & Hector - It was a pleasure to get to know you both. Thank you very much for helping us put our house back together again - better than it was before! read more

Top-notch skills and professionalism. I contacted Dale based on the reviews and the fact that he was personally replying to them. I hired him and his crew to repair a deep gouge, a scratched area, and a third scuffed area on my hardwood floor. There was also some squeaking to be fixed. They showed up right on time and got to work after explaining what was going to happen. I needed to leave early, but I felt safe leaving them to work and having them lock up when they were done. I got home that evening to a beautiful floor, and there was not a trace of the previous scuffs and scratches. My floor has never looked this good. Highest marks for this business. read more

My floors had been needing work done on them for a while but thankfully Dale came along to beautify this hardwood flooring to it's original splendor. Dale did a masterful job and results show!(the photographs below[sorry I don't know why they are flipped like that]) The floors are smooth, completely flat, and overall beautiful. Dale is a true master at his craft and I am truly glad to have had him work on my floors. Not only did he do the work on my floor but he did work previously not done by the last(presumably a blistering alcoholic given the quality of work and number of mistakes) guy who had made a bunch of mistakes that Dale had no problem rectifying and fixing. My house feels like a brand new house as the floors pop out at you and make your space feel more open and spacious. Dale is one of the most knowledgeable professionals that I've met in a long time. To say our kitchen floor needs a facelift would be an understatement. Unfortunately due to years of Frankenstein work, there are some areas that look like a rollercoaster. Dale and Hector first came out to repair some cupping and I was incredibly impressed by their attention to detail when it came to matching the stain and providing a quick solution. Unfortunately a couple of months later the floor started to pitch upwards again in some areas and Dale made the time to come out and add a few more nails. Similar to his first visit he not only helped us find a solution but helped us understand what would be a sensible solution in the future. While we're not quite ready to replace our subfloor and restore/replace the wood floors completely Dale will 100% be the person I call to help us tackle this job. He knows his stuff and he is someone you can trust to treat your space and project with respect. read more

Dale and Hector did a beautiful recoat of my old but new-to-me floors. While I got another quote that was very cheap for a full refinish, Dale pointed out that my floors had been refinished a few times and don't have much sanding left in them. The one-day recoat made them look great, including staining a few replacement boards that previously stuck out like a sore thumb, without taking any life out of them. read more

Do not look any further - these guys are terrific!! I have hired many people to work on our house over the years, but these guys are the best. They were professional, did a great job, friendly, easy to work with, and reasonably priced. We had a section of our kitchen floor that was scratched. Dale offered to fix just that section or redo the entire kitchen. We decided to redo the entire kitchen. The floors were installed 11 years ago and now look like new. We couldn't be happier. read more

After some water damage to our floors, we knew we had to call back Dale to restore them. He had restored the flooring in the entire house previously and done a meticulous job. He did not disappoint. Once again, Dale and Hector worked their magic on the repairs, minimizing cost by limiting the areas they treated (not wasting time on undamaged parts) and yet still magically keeping the seams from refinished to not refinished areas pretty much unnoticeable. And of course, they included a few extras (like touching up the stair edges) while they were there, at no additional cost. They are not cheap, but they are fair, and work very hard to keep to a reasonable budget. Quality of work and communications are terrific. They fit us in on fairly short notice and were as accommodating as they could be on schedule - having the work done in time for Thanksgiving guests. They took time to advise us on things we could do to minimize future damage to the floors. And they didn't go overboard recommending work that didn't need to be done - in fact they even talked us out of part of the work with good reason. Dale' was also super patient and communicative with us when we had a glitch on payment delivery. Absolutely recommend Dale and Hector - people and work you can trust. read more

Dale and Hector are a fantastic team. They helped us resurface our oak floors that were in good shape overall but needed some attention. One portion of the floor was newly patched by a separate contractor and required a full refinish + staining to blend it into the surrounding floorboards. Dale and Hector's work was astounding in how closely they were able to match the new wood color with the existing floor. Beyond their great work, they provide thoughtful estimates and recommendations and are personable and super easy to work with. I'm not going to tell you anything you won't read in Dale's 80 other five-star reviews, but will instead add my voice to the chorus. If you have hardwood floors and they need work, you could do no better than to have Dale work on them. He refinished our dining and living room floors - they are absolutely gorgeous! It's like we have brand new floors. Not only that, but as he promised, he left our house cleaner than when he started. I couldn't be happier with the work Dale did on my floors. I called him to schedule the appointment, he sent a reminder the morning of, and arrived on time. I had multiple spots on my floors that were scratched and damaged by moisture. Dale fixed them all. He also noticed I have squeaks in my floors and explained what caused them before fixing them. As Dale was packing up, he heard another squeak, and fixed it as well! I had also used a magic easer on my kitchen cabinets he showed me how I could rid of the streaks. It's rare to meet a professional who is an expert in their craft. I highly recommend Dale for your floor restoration needs. Thank you Dale!!! read more

This review is way long overdue, but better late than never. Dale came by with his colleague Hector to fix squeaks in my very old wooden floors, and they did a fantastic job. In a single day, they were able to get rid of a ton of squeaking. It went from an orchestra to much more manageable occasional creaks. Reasonable price, as well. I'd definitely hire Dale and Hector again. read more

This floor service is pretty much perfect in every respect. Dale Swirsding and his assistant Hector did a magnificent job on our floors. The task was not an easy one as they had to match the stain to the section of floor that was not being done. They were great from the start. Dale promptly arrived for the initial visit and quickly got us a detailed quote. Once we signed on he worked with us to schedule the work, and we were able to have him come when we needed him, which was relatively quickly. When the work was to begin, Dale kept us notified as to when they would arrive, and, once there, carefully explained the process. He helped us navigate the issue of keeping off the floors for the duration (our kitchen and family room were being done--the two busiest rooms in our house) and so kept our inconvenience to a minimum. He and Hector were very efficient in doing the work itself, and did a beautiful job. These two were so considerate and so pleasant to be around that we missed them when the work was done. I can't recommend them highly enough. They are terrific and their professionalism beyond compare. read more

Dale refinished the hardwood floor in our kitchen, living room and dining room. This involved sanding, sealing and finishing the floors. Our floor was worn and scratched. Dale did a fantastic job and he was a pleasure to work with. He gave good advice on the different options available to us regarding floor finishing. Dale completed the work ahead of schedule and within the agreed budget. He was very accommodating of our schedule and even offered to come on Saturdays. He was able to finish three days ahead of schedule! You can see an example of the end result in the attached pictures. Dale also took care of a number of squeaky boards. Dale was very responsive from beginning to end (unlike most other contractors we have dealt with). He would answer e-mails or messages right away. Dale was very professional and knowledgeable and he did a fantastic work. We love our refinished floor and friends have also complimented Dales' work. Our hardwood floors needed repair and the finish had started to wear thin in our high traffic rooms. Most floor services didn't want to come out unless they were refinishing the whole house. Because our house is nearly a century old, we were concerned about sanding when the floors have been sanded so many times. Dale was responsive, affordable and much more sensible. He suggested buffing to remove some of the finish and smoothen the scratches, and then applying a special coat and polyurethane on top. He saved our floors and extended their life. It came out beautiful and smooth! Dale even shared tips for maintaining our floors moving forward. read more

We had a relatively new floor refinished (we were unhappy with the original finish- Rubio Monocoat, which offered little protection from dirt and scratches). Dale made samples for us of a number of finishes so that we could get an idea of what our options were. We ended up using a finish he recommended and we couldn't be happier. Dale and Hector came into our home and prepared, sanded, and applied 3 coats of finish to our floor. They were very responsive, professional, timely, neat, and the end product was fantastic. The floor now looks better than it did when it was new.
