The experience from start to finish was excellent. Andrew spent literally hours with me over the course of about four visits, plus calls and email exchanges. I dislike about 95% of the carpet out there ... but don't have the option of putting in hard floors. My pickiness was no match for Andrew, however; he helped me find that needle in the haystack. He pulled out collections that fit my criteria, throwing them on the showroom floor and having me home in on the promising ones via process of elimination. When I showed him some varieties of carpet that I liked from a company outside of The Floor Store's network, he researched them to see if their products met his standards and if working with them would go smoothly (not so much). He got an in-network vendor to send larger samples so that I could really see what various styles would look like in my home. And he walked me through the contract process step by step, making sure I understood exactly what I was signing and paying for. Once that contract was signed, everything moved quickly. Andrew checked in during installation and even humored me at the final stage, allowing me to give him a virtual tour once the carpet was laid. I would certainly recommend him and The Floor Store to anyone looking to get new hard floors or carpet. I requested to have areas of the padding under the carpet fixed. It took nearly 2 months to get a negative answer. I had to keep calling to get any info. There is a 10 year warranty. I was never informed that you have to hand professional cleanings. First she told me every 18 month. That changed to every year. In under 8 years i had 3 or 4 proceedings cleaning. Plus, i also have a shampooer of my own. That's less than 10 years. The carpet has not worn well, and area of the paint have gone flat! They never even sent anyone out to look. Pictures don't show this well. So they denied me. Years ago my mom and brother had linoleum installed, it was the most horrific installation i ve ever seen. Again, they never sent anyone out to check the job. Poor customer service. This was also through the Concord store, and on Jacuzzi. My neighbor installed carpet on her stairs from here also. After i did my living room, she just replaced her carpet too!!! read more

We just moved into a new housing development in Rohnert Park from Albany, California. Once we had our closing date, the race was on to find a good quality carpet to replace the super crappy one the builder installed. We put together a list of carpet stores, but it was game over when we went into the Floor Store in Albany and met Rick Button. We're pretty informed consumers--some call us "prosumers"--but I have never been able to understand carpets. With all its manufacturers, brands, materials, styles, and buzzwords, it always has been completely inscrutable to me. Then we met Rick who immediately steered us in the right direction to a carpet with the right quality, style, and price. He arranged to get us a sample we could bring with us to the house. A few days later, we were on the phone with him trying to make the transaction happen as quickly as possible after our closing date--and it did. Rick arranged for his very talented colleague to come take exact measurements. Santiago and Arcadio came to install it; they removed the builder's carpet and padding and installed the new carpet and padding in a single day--1,461sf with 20 stairs--and they did an outstanding job. When it was all over, I got a quality control call asking me about all every facet of my experience. I gave them a great report. I called them but the phones were down, so I called the office in Richmond and I explained to Randy I only needed 5 boards. he said he would check if they had it in stock and would call me back. Worst customer service ever. Several miss communications and they charged my card before completion of service with out notifying me.

This is a nightmare. I was so excited to have new floors installed but instead of new and lovely floors, I received planks that look as though they had sat outside during the pandemic. I took a week off work, moved all my furniture, moved my refrigerator, moved and disconnected my gas oven, and skipped having my annual Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends as I prepared to have the floors installed. I stopped the project and called the salesperson to let them know about the issue. They promised to return the bad boxes and delivered planks that had been inspected by the warehouse manager. The boxes arrived unopened, uninspected, and in just as poor condition. Now they need to cancel the contract and have me pick my second choice which could take 4-5 weeks to install. Let's not forget that I will need to unpack and repack my kitchen, living room, and family room. And move my oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator. AND I will be walking on unfinished floors for the next month. Not only did I have to cancel my family's Thanksgiving but it looks like Christmas and New Year's Eve are also canceled. This bait and switch has been a waste of time, money, and emotional energy. read more

This review is specifically about our experience with Floor Store contractor Ruben and his associate, Oscar. My spouse and I would give 10 stars if we could. When it comes to contractors, you don't really know how things are going to end up until you start working together. We've had our share of challenges. But for this specific experience, it has been stellar, end to end. Until Ruben, we weren't even sure if contractors as awesome as he is actually exist in real life. We had floors redone in our entire home and had a really great experience working with Ruben. He was very communicative, was timely and thoughtful in his responses, handled challenges like a leader, managed a team of workers who were in an out of the house with finesse and kindness. We had an excellent experience with the Floor Store installing our Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring upstairs last week. Roberto Soriano and his son Jason completed a highly professional install for us over a 5 day period. They were always on time, communicated clearly and completed a beautiful job of installing the floors. They also did all the little touches like finding a better way to install near our multiple storage doors without using quarter round, laid the planks so that the connection points varied in a more random way making it look more like wood floors, removed and reinstalled floor trim without any damage, leveled the plywood floor so it seemed perfect before installing, and moved our furniture carefully and protected any legs from harming the new floor. they worked really hard and professionally without cutting any corners. I recommend them highly. Also Kristen Trujillo, the Costco/Floor Store sales representative was excellent in helping us pick out our product, getting estimates, measuring and prepping for the install and answering any questions we had on the product or install process. She was an excellent communicator helping us find a product we would be delighted with. I would not hesitate using the Floor Store again for any flooring needs we have. read more

Our small special ed program unexpectedly, and consequently unavoidably, had to replace all of our flooring with only a week's time before school resumed after our winter break. I showed up at their Richmond location with visible desperation and exhaustion. After explaining the situation, they got to work immediately to help us ensure our school was ready to open. I made an appointment with Brian at the Floor Store to check out some luxury vinyl plank flooring. I mentioned to him that I needed some flooring for a rental property and that I brought in a sample of an item on sale at Home Depot for pretty cheap. Brian was straight forward and told me that, he couldn't beat the price, but explained to me that the wear layer on the stuff I brought in was almost as thin as saran wrap lol. I have a beautiful floor and the service and the follow-up were AMAZING! My husband and I had put off replacing the carpeting in the upstairs bathroom. We decided to try to find a small remnant and have it installed since the square footage of the bathroom is modest. The Floor Store was packed with customers for the Labor Day sale. We made eye contact with two of the salespeople but they were helping other couples. One person came up and apologized and said someone would be right with us. I found that to be really nice, that they acknowledged us even though they were so busy. That particular Saturday was really hot, about 95 degrees, and the carpet kept the heat in. David S., the manager, walked to where we were browsing and answered my questions about the carpet and the padding. But, he suggested that we look at the COREtec, luxury vinyl flooring (LVF). We walked over and saw the samples and were amazed that they looked really good, not like vinyl. He also had the white oak in the COREtec that matched my hardwood floors. So, we pivoted and decided on the white oak COREtec. David came the following Tuesday after Labor Day to measure the bathroom. He was prompt and quick. We were going to sign the contract immediately, but the air quality was so bad; we waited a bit before we ventured out of the house. Once, the contract was signed, the installers called within 48 hours to schedule the installation. Rocky and his son showed up on the early side of the installation window. They were prompt, fast, clean, and professional. The floor is beautiful and the baby threshold that David S. suggested was perfect. It made everything look finished. There were no issues with installation. There was no upsell. The floor looks great. When I want to redo my kitchen, I will definitely return to The Floor Store. Floor Store: I ordered high-quality Mohawk 5-inch maple plank hardwood floors for my 3rd floor hallway and stairs; plus, I ordered travertine tiles for my laundry room. I selected the flooring I want, the Floor Store makes an appointment for Lorna to come to my home and accurately measures the areas where I need new floors (the cost is $35.00, but the measuring cost are returned when I purchase my materials from the Floor Store), I order my materials from the store, and the customer service I receive is top notch/flawless. I am confident I know I am getting exactly what I ordered for my hallway, stairs, and laundry room materials without purchasing an excessive amount of materials I do not need. Floor Store prices are highly reasonably priced, unlike Floor Dimensions who literally gave me an enema price gouging me when I had replaced my wall-to-wall carpeting with the high-quality Mohawk 5-inch maple plank hardwood floors in my first floor living common areas and stairs in my home in 2006. Floor Dimension charged me $7,000.00 to install the high-quality Mohawk 5-inch maple plank hardwood floors in my first floor common living areas, which included charging me $250.00 per stair step! Whereas, Floor Store only charged me $2,000 for all the materials I need and would charge considerably LESS for each stair installed with hardwood floors=$150.00 per stair step! Who has over six stores? Floor Store has six stores! Who had to close the majority of their stores? Floor Dimension had to close all their stores except their main store in Albany!
