Our server, Omar, was cool and friendly and attentive. The ambiance and overall vibe of the place was inviting, cozy, and comfortable. They Maryland tots were really great. They were crispy and cheesy and crabby in all the right places. Easily the best tots I've had. And I've had some tots. I was feeling vegetarian so I had a pesto tomato mozz panini that was on the weekly specials menu. It was very good! They had all sorts of wild beers on their list that my companions sampled. One of them was called "Bawl-merr" and was a local Baltimore beer made by a homebrewer I believe. read more

This place is just outstanding- wonderful service, very reasonably priced, food is outstanding with a wide variety, and in a great part of Fells Point. And you can't say enough about the brussel sprouts in the maple syrup.....those alone are worth the visit. If you are ever in Fells Point, I highly recommend this place. read more

First visit. Not sure why because I've walked past it a bunch. Excellent choice. Best cream of crab I've ever had. My meal was tater tots smothered in crab and cheese. Great friendly service. Very good prices and large quantities. read more

Nice little spot on Beoadway..in DT Fells..Wow the wings here - amazingly good. The bartenders Faith & Charlie were very cool and fixed us all with some tasty drinks. Definitely recommend. read more

My favorite bar to go to during the football season! Great specials during the games ($15 craft beer buckets whattt) and half off tots! They have a great beer selection and plenty of TVs. Will definitely make it back here to visit the sit down side of the restaurant. Overall a great local bar with good drinks and food read more

Alexander's is a top spot in the city! It's especially ideal for a dinner date during the Holiday season. This intimate atmosphere and added Christmas decor gives the historic tavern a cozy and intimate charm. We found our inner Santa chub and indulged, ordering the sweet potato bbq tots as an appetizer. TOTS are a MUST! Despite being completely full, we continued onward, splitting the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the Harvest Salad. I must admit, the Salad was bit dull, BUT the Granny Smith Apple slices were fresh and crisp and it certainly paired well with the delicious pizza. We topped our meal off with their seasonal alcohol infused eggnog, which made this Winter dinner exceptionally memorable. read more

As a dive bar, the food, service and ambiance is what you would normally expect from one. To me a tavern is a different type of place... but in all honesty who cares? As long as the food, the company, and the alcohol are there.. I don't think anyone would care what you call the place. The people will come. What makes this place standout is the pizza and tater tots. I normally wouldnt have expected a place, like this, to have good pizza. So I would like to thank my pal for inviting me to try it out. It was definitely worth the visit. As you can't really mess up "neat" drinks and beers... I will move onto the cocktails. The cocktails were not that great... at all. However, my 4 star rating will be based on the pizza and tots since there aren't that many places that you can get a cold one with a side of tots and a personal pizza. Definitely worth a trip back. tl;dr - beer + pizza + tots = a good time read more

Delicious food and great, attentive service. We went for brunch and they did not disappoint. I highly recommend the blood marys and bread pudding bites. All four of us were very satisfied with our food. Thanks Alexander's! read more

Alexander's Tavern - French Toast Sandwich - Bars Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

This is a good local bar in Fells. They offer decent HH prices and serve up some decent rail drinks in pint glasses. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. The food is, well, average pub food. I will mention that they did charge an additional $0.50 for tartar sauce for a crab cake sandwich that it, strangely enough, didn't come with. It isn't a big charge but I thought it was peculiar. I do like most everything they serve up though so it is worth checking out. Also, they participate in orderup, southwest dining rewards, and opentable. read more

I love this place and the atmosphere here, plus Beth is always remembering me and provide the best service!

If you've been to Alexander's and you don't think it deserves five stars, we're not going to be friends. Come on, what's not to love??? They have a great brunch with terrific and creative comfort food options (try the pulled pork sweet potato tots!). They have a great beer selection, they make a good Bloody Mary with Old Bay on the rim. There's a big downstairs bar and a smaller upstairs bar, both with lots of TVs and sports on 24/7. Plus, upstairs, there's a beer pong setup along with the great classic sawdust shuffleboard game, darts, and even a Wii with Guitar Hero (I know that's very 2008, but still...) If I had my way, I'd go to Alexander's every time I was in Baltimore. If you are debating going and you are not a first-class d-bag, I strongly encourage you to check it out! read more

We went on a Sunday at 3:30pm. Service was a little slow. The French Dip I ordered was ok but salty. The au jus was so salty my worms were doing the tango. I had to add water to make it edible. The salads were fresh and green. My husband enjoyed his burger. The BLT looked a little thin but my 6 yr old said it was good. The buffalo wings were my favorite. Pretty sure the tots are the same ones the public school cafeterias serve. I don't understand why they are hyping frozen tater tots...maybe Napoleon Dynamite co-owns this place. Pretty decent prices/value. We didn't drink at the bar so I can't speak on that. Edit 4/24/2016 Finally drank at the bar up on the very top level. They have a shuffleboard up there and serve some $3 shots during the O's games. I really liked it. Relaxed vibe, music playing. The lower level has some video game consoles to play (for money). Kinda reminded me of the bars on H Street in DC with the games. read more

I had the buffalo chicken panini and chili-cheese tots. The panini was tasty, although the chicken portions weren't huge. The chili cheese tots were really the star of the show - big chunks of meat were even mixed in! read more

Their TOTS!!! Hell yes! We ordered their buffalo chicken, cheese, and avocado tots and it was amazing (perfect to split between 2-3 people). The motz panini and sweet tots were delicious and fresh, and the honey siracha wings were on point. Late afternoon time was slow and we received excellent service!! We would definitely return! read more

Excellent gluten free menu and food. Dedicated kitchen and very knowledgeable staff. Two of us dined from the gluten free side and were very pleased with everything. This will be a go to spot for me in Baltimore. read more

Was in for a post work drink with friends and felt like a cool place. The bartender was quick to greet and take care of us. 10/10 Will get drunk here again read more

I love this place! I used to frequent here often when I lived in Baltimore; the food is bangin'. I've since moved away but was in the area recently and stopped in to the bar. Reasonably priced drinks for the area and good specials. Very friendly bartender and chill atmosphere. Also has lovely little dining area away from the bar. read more

Solid bar with two floors in the heart of fells. Food is reasonably priced bar food. Avoid at all costs the mushroom gravy and fried pickles. I'd say it's 3 star for food and 4 for a casual bar to grab some drinks read more

What a wonderful surprise! The Boh Salad was better than described with the most amazing Brussel sprouts. And the crab dio was amazing. The portions were so big we took half of it home. Love this little place. read more

Excellent brunch spot! Almost all of us took advantage of the cheap drinks (Bloody Marys and mimosas!) and that fact that soft shell crabs are in season. We almost ordered a bunch of apps because of our $2 off coupons from the water taxi. The Bloody Mary's were amazing - some of the best I've tried. As for the apps...oh my! Get the fried pickles and the crab dip and you will be happy, I promise. Skip the chips and dip, though, as you'll be missing nothing. I had a wonderful soft shell crab salad with bacon, corn, and asparagus and an Old Bay dressing. The soft shell crab and steak sandwiches were also well-received. For the sides, the Mac and cheese was stellar and the tots were pretty damn tasty too. In addition, they have an extensive gluten-free menu, which was great for our GF friend. read more

Great drinks and menu. Tater tots!!!! Reasonable prices and great service. Food came out super fast and was perfect. Cute little quiet date spot. read more

Came here for a group lunch. There is metered parking around the area. The place was pretty empty during lunchtime in the middle of the week. We ordered several different types of tots and I ordered the BBQ pizza based on reviews. The tots were alright, with a variety of toppings which made them unique and interesting. The pizza came on a thin crust and was a good size. I enjoyed the BBQ flavor but there was nothing outstandingly special about it. I can see how this would be a good place to go to watch a sports game or to watch a drink, as the food seems to cater to that, but not necessarily what I was looking for. read more

tl;dr for brunch: Panini was pretty good. Potatos undercooked, lost potential. Croissant breakfast sandwich is decent, but hard to eat. Donut ice cream sandwich was stale and sad. $12 screwdriver pitcher is lit. Service is fine, if uninvolved. read more

Didn't eat here, but stopped in for a few drinks whilst touring Fells Point, a really sweet section in Baltimore that has dozens of bars and retail shops. The bar is fairly nice inside, the staff was extremely friendly and the patrons incredibly drunk! Made for some fun entertainment. They did have a decent selection of beers and microbrews on draft. Overall, nothing too special about the place that I could tell, typical tavern scene. read more

Good location, comfy space, and good brunch food - I'm content! Got the Baltimore omelette. Not enough crabmeat, but the portion was perfect - I didn't feel stuffed after finishing everything on my plate. Came during brunch primetime on a Sunday and was still able to find a table for our party of five. Real milk with our coffee. Love. $3.5 brunch cocktails including bloody Mary's and mimosas. Hard to beat that. There's plenty to see in Fells Point on a nice stroll around the neighborhood after your meal. Overall a nice experience on my most recent trip up to Baltimore. read more

Stopped in here for a quick dinner and I must say they make a quick dinner a reality. Had the mediterranean pie pizza and my date had a wrap. They came out in a few minutes and while I can't speak to the wrap my pizza was amazing. Only downside is that the crust is really thin so it isn't completely filling for a hungry guy. Due to the size I think the price could come down a few buck to make it reasonable. my date had a wrap which she said was really good, except that it needed more sauce/dressing on it. I had water and she has a lemonade which ended up cost $2.35 for a solo cup full. A bit steep in my opinion for a cup of lemonade that isn't even made fresh. I didn't order any alcohol as I had been drinking all day for the Ravens game, but it looked like they had a wide selection of microbrews which makes any bar better. They have various games on the second floor, so if you are looking to just hangout make sure you visit the second floor of the bar side...the place is divided between a restaurant side and a bar side. I am giving them 4 stars due to the food and microbrew selection. If they price their drinks/food a bit lower I would definitely give this place five stars and come back on a regular basis. Apparently they have awarded winning wings, but $7 for 6 wings is outrageously expensive! I miss the days when expensive wings were $0.50 and most bars had them for $0.25 a wing. read more

We stopped in here on a rainy afternoon for lunch and had a decent meal at a cozy place. At our table we had the Broadway chicken, Alexander's Salad, and an edamame burger. The salad and chicken were nothing special, but a good lunch at a decent price. But I won't get the edamame burger again. It was just a strange flavor and texture, and just really wasn't the right thing to make into a burger. There just wasn't really a flavor at all, just kind of a mush patty. The guacamole was bland as well. It' didn't really work on the bun it was served on, because when you bit into it, the burger just mushed to the other end of the bun. I ended up eating it with fork and knife, bun-less. I would go again to Alexander's because the service was fine, it was decently priced, and besides the burger, everything was fine. I just won't get that again. read more

This place was fantastic. The starters were amazing. Typical pub food with a nice twist on everything. The pretzels were prepared perfectly and I loved the tavern mustard and queso. The queso was so good I poured some into my pockets for later!! I got a burger for dinner, perfectly cooked, perfectly prepared and presented to me. My bartender was a solid dude (forgot his name...sorry dude!) that was super open about the menu. I'll never forget when I ordered the Alexander burger he said "don't be a turd, get it with cheese curd" I was sold from that moment and left a good cash tip because taxation is theft. I wrote this on my receipt and the bartender seemed to relate. I wonder if he too is a libertarian! read more

Reserved the upstairs for a large party of 17 on a Saturday night. The management was very accommodating and gave us the whole space for the night without any minimum bar tab requirements. It was an informal atmosphere where people mingled, got drinks, ordered food and had a good time. The food is good and incredibly cheap! The menu is HUGE which is perfect for a huge group. For a group of 17, with drinks and food and tip, our bill was under $400 which was amazing! Downside - they weren't able to make quite a few drinks from their cocktail menu upstairs and the bartender did not offer to have them made downstairs. We didn't know about this before we booked. Other than that, it was a great night! read more

Alexander's Tavern - Cheesey tots Maryland style. Yesss - Bars Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Went for brunch this past weekend with my sig other, and we were both a bit disappointed. We both ordered off their brunch menu. We ordered a pizza florentine, belgian waffles, an egg, and some bacon the pizza was ok. flavor was there, but very disappointed by the matzah-like crust (in texture and taste). the belgian waffles were overcooked, and sitting out for some time. the result was a belgian waffle that was hard, and unappetizing. the egg and bacon were fine, and the bacon was probably the best part of the meal. Also, my coffee constantly came out cold. I saw another table complain about it, and they brought the carafe out and pumped the coffee out in front of him, but i think he still thought the coffee was too cold. Not only that, my waiter came around so infrequently, that I went half my meal without any coffee. they were too busy tending to a party of 7. Pretty disappointed with this place, and definitely will not go back. read more

I've tried to like this place ever since I got a phenomenal ham sandwich on a pretzel croissant back when I first moved to Fells Point. That, however, was almost two years ago. While their food isn't outwardly gross, it's barely-par bar food. Nachos that don't come with listed toppings, fries that come out cold. Just not good. They're nice enough and our sweet waitress said they had someone new in the kitchen who is "figuring things out" but the food has been slowly getting worse over the past year. Stick to the bar side and have a some drinks but skip the food unless you're hammered. read more

Had no idea this place was associated with Spike Gjerde (and Papi's too!), but it is...! What I love most about this place is the casual atmosphere and their tater tots. I have a weakness for tater tots. And they have specials. Go with a friend, get some drinks, and eat tots. Rinse and repeat. read more

Wow. The service here was awful.. and after working in restaurants in high school I consider myself somewhat forgiving. I felt kind of bad because my friends were pretty vocal about the lack of service, but it was a bit ridiculous. Our waitress took forever to take our orders, fill our drinks, and I had to ask for the check. We were there early on a Saturday evening and there were only 2-3 other tables and my friend said he saw her just standing and talking to coworkers. And the food.. my burger was very bland, the fries had a decent crunch but everything on my plate was devoid of salt. None of us were particularly pleased with our selections, the one exception being the pizza with crabmeat. I will most definitely not be back. read more

A favorite place for my boyfriend & I every time we visit fells point!! We both have celiacs disease so the GLUTEN FREE MENU IS AMAZINGGGGGGG. They use a separate fryer so it's super safe. We visited Alexander's on New Year's Day. Apparently they had someone not show up in the kitchen. They were so backed up and there was a large party two tables down from us that they were trying to tend to. I felt so bad for our server. She was hustling and handling the beat down from very irritated customers better than I would've. She was kind, attentive, and apologetic. The wait for food was long but we didn't mind. We weren't in a hurry and we had a couple of rounds of screwdrivers to hold us over. We ordered the breakfast nachos to share and they were so good. We did ask for the jalapeños on the side and they didn't bring them but it wasn't that big of a deal so we just did without. I'd order them again. I deducted a star for the chaos of the day but I will be happy to adjust when I give this place a second try. read more

I sat at the bar with a few friends last weekend. One ordered the salmon sliders, i didn't try them - but i did sneak a few tator tots and dipped them in that amazing wasabi sauce that comes with the sliders - INCREDIBLE! I forgot all about tator tots.. brought back fun memories! The bartenders were great too! read more

I don't want to talk too much smack about Alexander's, because I'm friends with someone who worked there, but I never liked the place. It was utterly lacking in charm and character. The food was really boring and not very good, in a neighborhood full of bars that serve good food. The staff were always nice, but that didn't make up for the Todd Connor prices with White Castle quality food and Pazo priced drinks. read more
