I came here for happy hour. We ordered one of all the small plates. I liked most of the dishes. The hummus was soo flavorful and I would definitely order it again! The fries were very mid, not very crispy and just did not hit. The interior is super nice! The dining room looked very upscale. It was empty when we went since their dinner service had not yet started, but the bar area had a couple groups in there for happy hour. The service was good. We were that embarrassing table that kept dropping the silverware on accident, but they servers were super nice about it and had a good laugh with us. We were searching for a place to eat that wasn't already booked on a Friday night. After walking into a couple of other locations, we arrived to discover that someone was late for their reservation so we got a booth for ourselves, just before the restaurant filled. Highly recommend making a reservation in advance and arriving on time. We got the oysters, caviar tots with ikura or salmon roe (amazingly flavorful), the goat cheese gnocchi (salty and rich), the steak (another win), and the kiddo got the grilled cheese (which they enjoyed). The other items on the happy hour menu that I tried included Caviar Tots, which was a nice appetizer that went well with the oysters. I also got a stout beer to go with the oysters, which if you didn't know, actually pair well together. The dark, chocolate, bitterness goes well with the briny sea taste of the oysters. This also went well with the salmon eggs on the caviar tarts. The menu was very clean had has more of a a fine dining vibe, and is conveniently located by the convention center. For whiskey fans, I saw they had some good options, like E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof, Elmer T. Lee, and Blanton's. The bartender was also cool to talk with. The only thing that makes me give this restaurant/bar 2 stars is that the food that I did have there was decent - the service however was horrific and based on that, I will never return. It was convenient as we were staying at the Sheraton on business - had breakfast there on a Sunday morning. The food was honestly ok, but I truly don't believe anyone in this place enjoys their job. Our server - tall - dressed in white pants seemed quite disturbed that she even had to take care of us - She never engaged in any pleasantries - nor did she ever come back to check on us after food was delivered. I truly think she hates her job. We stopped later in the evening for a drink and food and again - these people don't like their jobs. This time we were taken care of by a gentleman who I believe must have been a manager - - I believe he was from Alabama or something - but honestly rude....overwhelmed by the customers....not interested in us at all. We had 1 drink and then left to go to the actual Sheraton bar which is lovely with good food and GREAT service. I won't be coming back here and I wouldn't recommend it. When you have an establishment across form a convention center, attached to a hotel, you really need to like people and be able to go with the flow in terms of business. Just go somewhere else - even just the bar at the sheraton a few steps away - you're in Seattle and there are much better places to spend your money rather than at this restaurant. read more

The vibe and decor are great! Staff and service were good as well. However, the food was very disappointing. The menu is very small we ordered bolognese pasta and it had NO flavor at all. Hard to make a bolognese sauce with no seasoning. And the capital pork shoulder also had zero flavor and we sent them both back. The shrimp scampi linguini was flavorful, however I would not call it a scampi! That should be garlic and butter and this was with spinach and tomato. The special salad of butter lettuce and "green goddess" dressing was awful. The dressing was watery with no green goddess flavor at all and it was just lettuce, dressing and 3 slices of radish. Alder&Ash is located inside Sheraton in Seattle. I absolutely loved the warmth and ambience of the restaurant. The food was delicious. They had quite a few options for vegetarian. I really liked the hummus platter and the mushroom risotto . The drinks are great. I ordered the cosmopolitan and Krish ordered something with scotch. Fun fact: They make scotch in house and distill it at least 3 times. The staff were fantastic and super welcoming. For dessert we ordered the flourless cake and pistachio ice cream. Their huckleberry one is not on the menu anymore but our server was super generous and she got 2 scoops of huckleberry ice cream for us. On September 3, 2025, I joined my friend for lunch at Alder & Ash, a venue we have previously visited together. The food was excellent, and we both appreciated the meal. My friend, who is on a fixed income, kindly paid for our lunch since our meetings are infrequent. Our server, April, was courteous and attentive; she promptly took our order--I requested a smash burger, while my friend ordered fish and chips. Upon arrival, our meals included the correct burger for me but a fish burger instead of the requested fish and chips for my friend. We immediately notified April of the error, and she apologized sincerely before replacing the dish with the correct order after a few minutes. She explained how the mistake may have occurred, and my friend graciously accepted her explanation. We continued our meal, enjoying conversation and laughter. When the bill was presented, my friend placed her credit card on it without reviewing the charges. After payment, she put the receipt and her card away without examining them further. I later posted a four-star review for Alder & Ash, citing the quality of the food and the service. Subsequently, my friend contacted me to share that she had been charged $23.00 for the fish burger she did not order. She returned to Alder & Ash with her receipt and spoke with the manager, Warren, who assured her he would process a refund and follow up. Despite this assurance, the refund was not processed for several days, and calls were not returned. My friend made multiple visits to the restaurant over two months until she spoke with Hanna, who confirmed that the manager had finally initiated the credit. Ultimately, the bank reflected the refund. Given today's high costs and the number of charges, it was disappointing that an 82-year-old customer had to persistently advocate for the return of funds that should not have been withheld. We have chosen not to revisit Alder and Ash restaurant due to concerns regarding the trustworthiness of some staff. This decision follows incidents involving overcharging senior women and an apparent reluctance to provide refunds. Additionally, my friend has found it necessary to return to the establishment on several occasions to receive a refund. Ultimately, she received a refund in November. read more

I want to say that Chelsea was our server and she was wonderful. Nothing I'll talk about next was her fault. Two times we visited the place because it was near our hotel and easy to get to in the cold and rain. The manager was very standoff-ish and extremely unfriendly both times. So not a good start to either of our visits. The second time was for dinner and the hostess up front was on her own with a line of several groups waiting. Instead of coming over to help the manager just kept looking over. It was bizarre. Our food took an extremely long time and our server kept apologizing- said a lot going on in the kitchen- despite it not being busy at all. My $42 salmon plate was awful. And the carrots were completely unedible. When I showed the server she was horrified- couldn't cut through them with a knife at all and they were rubbery. Never seen anything like it. My husband's salmon salad was really watery and he barely touched it. We don't ask for discounts - just pointed out the carrots. She tried to get it taken off and that manager I referenced above evidently refused to do more for her than a discount. Such a disappointing meal. And aside from Chelsea didn't have any server or employee either time I'd recommend at all. read more

I ordered the burger with fries to go. It was ready in 15/20 min. I walked from my hotel room to pick it up (they don't deliver to rooms) and got to sit inside the cozy restaurant briefly. I was served water. The burger was exquisite and so were the fries. The fries were extra crunchy and moist. Just the way I like them. I liked how the meal was served with an additional plastic container inside to keep the fries and burger separated. Plenty of mustard and ketchup provided in the bag. Our orders were taken swiftly (we came hungry and were ready quickly!) and the food came in a timely manner. Everything we ordered was delicious and we enjoyed it thoroughly, few left overs remained. Stopped by this restaurant one evening and ordered the steak and frites. The doneness was exactly as I asked and it came with a great sauce on the side to pair the steak. The fries were excellent as well. Put a little bit of effort into your appearance! NOW to my review. I love the fact that this place is back and has managed to maintain the same feeling that The Daily Grill used to have. They kept the couch area near the window. The happy hour menu still has fantastic small plates, and overall, the entire menu has a Pacific Northwest twist on American classics. The barkeeps are all very skilled when it comes to cocktails, but I'm not sure about their craft beer selection.
