Really great Happy Hour every day 3-6. Both the drinks and food in the bar were excellent and the staff were very attentive and helpful.

I wanted to love this place so bad - the ambiance was amazing, the service was great, the food however was kind of a let down. We ordered the salmon dip which was kind of watery for a dip, then we had their chowder was decent, next my husband ordered their burger and it was good from what he told me but my salmon dish that cost me $48 dollars was not it. I think that's where I was mostly let down because I was hoping for it to melt in my mouth etc for that price and it did not deliver. It came with mushroom rice which was not that great either. So bummed I didn't like it but seems like a good place for a happy hour as the drinks were great. I personally wouldn't come back for the food but will return for the drinks and the vibes. read more

Alder & Ash - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Seattle, Washington

We first became familiar with Alder & Ash during a Yelp event last year, and decided that we needed to visit it again. We've now been twice and will definitely come again. Pros: it's centrally located, has parking just across the street (if you're arriving after 4 on a weekday, it's $7 for the night, which is literally unheard of in Seattle), has a happy hour from 4-6, has nice and comfortable digs and a friendly staff. Cons: it's a bit pricey, and if you're unlucky to be there when a private event is happening (which we were once), seating may be iffy or difficult. Don't give up! The staff will find a way to seat you (even if they seem a little harried about it). Also, the menu changes, so sometimes your favorite dish may disappear for a while before reappearing later in the year. (I'm not completely sure if this is a Con, but if you're particular, it could be.) This last time, we were downtown for another event, and decided to make Alder & Ash our go to before the event. It was a good choice. They got us seated promptly, and with 10 minutes to spare in the Happy Hour. We ordered Watermelon and Halloumi (so yummy!), Zucchili and Dill Fritters, and my girlfriend got the Goofy Footed Margarita (with watermelon; notice a theme?). She thought the margarita was a little spicy and a little sweet and really good! The previous time we were there there was a small group of us. We ordered grilled asparagus and hummus for the table, and the Orecchiette alla Norma pasta, and Avacado Toast. All was wonderful! Note that the Avacado Toast had rotated off the menu for our last visit. Also not that the Orecchiette is not currently available. Our server indicated that it may NOT rotate back on again in the future read more

We've gone a couple of times now and love it every time. Food has been really good every time with a realistic price. We almost always order their burgers and sticky rice. The one time we got the Steak frites, it was good too. The waiters are super friendly every time. Making this place our little tradition haha read more

Nice place with a very pleasant ambience. I ordered a Cobb salad and French fries. The fries were really good. They had a crunchy coating on them that made them extra crispy. My salad was good. Not amazing, but a solid Cobb salad. The server was really great. I overheard him helping a customer with specific dietary needs and he was awesome. The restaurant was very accommodating. I sat at the bar and it was a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. If you are looking for a good place to eat, this place will meet your needs. read more

I feel like I got ripped off because this place has such a high yelp rating yet the food that we tried was overall just fine. About six dishes two out of the six were good, the others passable. I'll start with the positive... I love a huge space. I feel like people could talk if they want to and a seat would be available. The downside to a huge space is because the restaurant was so large, because it was pretty empty. It seemed like a strange vibe, like a deserted amusement park. The two standouts were the crispy rice appetizer, which was very flavorful and had a great texture and I'm surprised to say it, but the burger was great. There was a sauce issue here. On the steak and the scallops there was a little bit of a heavier sauce and a little bit too much of it. Every time we see that I feel like it's covering up something. Our scallop orderer describe the scallops as the worst , good scallops he's had which fits for several categories of the establishment. The steak was also good but the sauce was heavy. My husband orders steaks at diners and at fine dining establishments, and he described the steak as fine, but he couldn't taste well it because of the heavy steak sauce. The burger was also very saucy, but I didn't mind that. I would appreciate it if Yelp had a label to specify if a restaurant is a hotel restaurant because I would've done some extra research had I known. Typically hotel restaurants are not my first choice. Our waiter was odd. A couple questions were asked, and the reaction he had was that the question was strange or hard to answer. I've never had the experience where I would felt judged on the way a question about the menu was phrased. Also service was a bit slow for a near empty place. Food was a three, experience was a one, rounding down to reset the overall rating of this place. Would be happy to come back after a game or before a concert, but this popped up for a search of a higher end dining search so my expectations were set too high. read more

I had lunch here with 3 of my colleagues and we had such a wonderful time! Our waitress Lauri was really animated and made some great menu recommendations. We ordered the following to share: Caviar tots Salmon crispy rice Great northern hummus Ahi tuna poke Crab cake Crispy chicken sandwich For drinks, we ordered the Pink Fog and it was horrible!! This drink should be taken off the menu! Lauri mentioned that Art the bartender has 2 mock tails that were incredible but were not on the menu and she was kind enough to replace our nasty drinks with some really incredible ones! One tasted exactly like a keylime pie, so he called it "keylime pie." The other one did not have a name yet, but when I tasted it, it was like a sunset paradise. If this ever makes its way to the menu, I hope they call it "sunset paradise!" The food was great, but these mocktails made our dining experience very memorable! When I think of keylime pies and sunset paradise, it takes me back to Alder & Ash! I would come back specifically for these drinks! I truly hope the manager reading this review takes my suggestion into consideration and place the "keylime pie" and "sunset paradise" on the drinks menu where they belong. read more

American restaurant in the Sheraton hotel in downtown Seattle. Nicely appointed, looks like mid-upper range sit-down restaurant. Was there for lunch with a group and we took the room not far from the entrance. The main area looks like it's at least mid-sized. For food, I got the chowder to start. Typical New England style creamy chowder. Tastes decent, and the portion is actually fairly big. For mains, I got the ahi tuna poke bowl. It's actually a good sized bowl of sushi rice with seasoned tuna, avocado, edamame and other veggies. They had some jalapeno pepper in there to give the mixture some heat. I like it. Saw other people's entrees like the burger and club sandwich, and portions for those were big as well. Took some time for the food, probably because we were a large group. Overall a good meal. Good portions, and prices are not that high for downtown Seattle. read more

The restaurant is BEAUTIFUUUUUL - quite large with a full bar. Our server was fantastic and helpful. The food is also delicious and great amount of crab/fish. I came in the afternoon on a weekday so it wasn't busy. I believe there was pay to park street spots, but we walked from Pike, so definitely doable. Just a note: the restroom is outside of the restaurant. When you step out, you're actually at the Sheraton and there's a code to enter. read more

Overall, I had a pretty good experience at Alder & Ash. The service was great, the drinks were really good, and the presentation of the food was honestly beautiful. Everything came out looking like a lot of thought and effort went into the plating. Portions were decent as well. Where they lost me a little was the actual taste and execution of some of the food. The fish had a pretty noticeable fishy smell and taste to it, which usually makes me question how well it was cleaned or prepared before frying. It looked great, but unfortunately the flavor didn't match the presentation. I also got the burger, which I'd still give around an 8/10 because the meat itself was delicious. But the menu said it came with pickled cucumbers, and I'm sorry, those tasted like straight-up raw cucumbers . And there were SO MANY. I swear I pulled what felt like an entire side salad worth of cucumber out of my burger just so I could actually taste the meat. Even if they were technically pickled, the amount completely overpowered everything else. The sauce on the burger was decent but had a slightly bitter taste to it, almost like there was a little too much pepper. The fries unfortunately came out cold as well, which was disappointing. That being said, the service was easily a 9/10, the drinks were great, the presentation was beautiful, and the burger meat itself was excellent. There's definitely potential here. I just think the actual flavors and a few details in the kitchen could use some improvement. Overall: great service and atmosphere, beautiful presentation, decent portions, but the food itself didn't quite live up to how good it looked. read more

Had the opportunity to stop back in at Alder and Ash and I'm excited to say that they have a new chef whose food finally matches the quality of service. As always the vibe was great. This time we had the tuna tartare, scallops, salmon, bread pudding and a couple mocktails/cocktails. The tuna tartare was refreshing and I enjoyed the larger chunks of tuna contrasting with the crisp chips. The scallops and salmon items are newer interpretations by the chef, both flavorful and well cooked. I enjoyed the bread pudding at the end of the meal from the chocolate to the vanilla ice cream it all worked. I will definitely be back when I'm in the downtown area for the tuna and to check out the mussels. read more

While not the warmest greeting by the host, the rest of the experience at Alder & Ash was better. There were no tables in the dining area, and chose to sit the bar area instead. The seats are low and back far back. All of the food choices were great! We started with the four dip sampler, each were a winner. I chose the pork shoulder which came on a bed of orzo. Tender, falling apart as soon as the fork touched it! The orzo had onions and tomatoes mixed in. Could not finish the whole meal. Great food! read more

Hostess was not super friendly, but waitress took care of us. This seems to be a popular happy hour spot, so I'm glad we had a reservation. Happy hour wine glasses and small plates are $10. We started with a plate of oysters which were so fresh and delicious. For our entrees we split a shrimp scampi and steak frites. I appreciate that they split the scampi into two small plates for us. The steak was tender and juicy. For dessert we had a salted caramel ice cream on a chocolate tart. The tart was hard to cut because it was so cold. But the flavors made up for it. Everything was very delicious. Would definitely recommend for dinner or some happy hour bites. read more

Loved my happy hour experience here! I chose it because my friend and I were going to the paramount that evening for a show and this spot was around the corner. As soon as I arrived the hostess and bartenders were very welcoming and friendly. I quickly ordered some bites and a cocktail before the happy hour prices ended. Luckily the food came out quickly. I tried the veggie tempura, the fancy tots, and salmon fried rice. I really liked the salmon rice out of the apps I had. Then my friend and I split the pasta with bolognese. It did not disappoint!! The pasta was so fresh tasting and the sauce was delicious- I wanted to slurp it up! Haha All in all, I would highly recommend this place for a swanky happy hour. The drinks were great as well! And I loved the ambiance. read more

Alder & Ash - Bar area - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Seattle, Washington

An amazing place to unwind and recharge in the middle of downtown Seattle and literally right next to the convention center. Ambiance is spot on, you can't ask for a better lunch/dinner location that's clean, well-lit, comfortable and modern. Very relaxing and spacious with a dining room and a bar/lounge space. Food was also excellent - we went twice, once for lunch and another for dinner during the week we visited and got the Alder and Ash burger. The fries are perfectly crispy and the burger is tender and juicy. Top notch! Only drawback for us was their service. Don't get us wrong, the servers were very kind and friendly but it was really hard to overlook the lack of attention. We waited at the booth for 10 min before we greeted by anyone and eventually seated, despite it not being busy (in fact the lounge only had 1-2 other tables) and the server was mostly chatting away with another guest. We also struggled to get our waters refilled on both occasions we came. Finally, my husband ordered the brussels sprouts twice, our waitress acknowledged it, and then we never got it so we just let it go. Overall it was really really slow and felt unattentive. When we did get attention and manage to flag someone down, they were nothing but kind though so it's a bit of a mixed bag. read more

I've had the pleasure of going to Alder & Ash several times - but my most recent visit was for happy hour before an event nearby. Their happy hour seriously can't be beat. They have several $10 bar bites but my absolute favorite that I will sing from the rooftops about, is the Salmon Crispy Rice. It is SO good! And honestly, it's quite filling. Because I'm a glutton for it, I could seriously eat two plates but one plate alone does the job. They also have a selection of $10 wines on their happy hour menu and they're all from the PNW which is a nice touch. The overall vibe here is sleek, sexy, and perfect for a date night or gathering with friends! They have several other menu items that are tasty but if you're pressed for time and looking for a solid HH, look no further. read more

The food once upon a time the food was amazing well balanced flavor profile. Creative dishes and cocktails now food is beautiful presented still but just lack luster and flat. I really don't recommend going for food anymore rather disappointing since they cha ged their menu . Cocktails are really good if you order classics Manhattan, gin sour, old fashion the menu cocktails are overly sweet ( vodka peach drink) or unbalanced (silent whisper). Service is interesting can't tell if they enjoy their job or just frustrated because a conference was in session our server was super unpleasant at first. But another server made a good recommendation because the drink on their cocktail were overly sweet and unbalanced. Ambiance is pretty modern meets classy. Comfortable and inviting. Even with it La led was not super loud. So the chicken dish, risotto and cream puffs are on their old. The caviar tots on the new, they lacked talk and flavor and for 17 bucks super disappointing. Bill in total four cocktails and one appetizer was 103 dollars read more

The best way to describe my experience at Alder & Ash is, "A for effort." It's what I thought after my main course, and what my husband mentioned after leaving the restaurant too. We came here for Seattle Restaurant Week for my birthday. If I was solely judging the food, this wouldn't be a 5-star review--it was all the other things added up that pushes this review to 5 stars. I'll break it down: Service The hosted greeted us, noticed in the notes it was my birthday and acted so genuinely enthused to have us come for dinner. Our kind waiter, James, acknowledged it was my birthday and brought out 2 complimentary glasses of champagne. Wow! My dad, asked James if they carried "fresh squeezed lemonade." (A peculiar request, but something he always inquires about at restaurants, ever since I was a kid). While they didn't, my dad still ordered it anyway. And, a short while later, the bartender came out with freshly squeezed lemonade. They could've easily brought out whatever they had on hand, and it would've been fine. But, they really went the extra mile--the lemonade was delicious too. I was very touched by this gesture. Beverage temperature Nowadays, a lot of restaurants just serve room-temperature water. So, I was pleasantly surprised when the table water was chilled. And, all the other beverages--champagne, and beer were also cold. Portions/value The portions are huge. Since we were there during restaurant week, I thought that they may skimp on portions, but they didn't--it is a great value. If you're going during restaurant week with someone else, order different appetizers and desserts, as they're big enough to share. Food My parents really enjoyed their meals. I thought the food was pretty good. Although, I would skip the crispy rice next time--too thick, and the rice was gummy on the inside. Short ribs were pretty solid, but I would try something else next time. My favorite was the dessert. Unfortunately, the soft serve machine was down, but the other desserts that we ordered--profiteroles, mango sorbet, and raspberry sorbet were excellent. The sorbets were very refreshing. All in all, we had a great time. Thanks for a great night, Alder and Ash! This is definitely a dining experience that I will remember for a long time. read more

Wanted to come back for SRW after my fantastic experience at a yelp elite event. This time I was seated at one of the tables at the far back for lunch, and it had a very classy vibe and a decent amount of people were having business lunch or single patrons doing their phone meetings. It reminded me of the hidden bougie restaurant we had at my business school, where we took VIP guests. I love that Alder & Ash creates different vibes in different sections of their space and it's such a perfect space for a venue. The 2-item $20 course for SRW was a steal and had an extensive amount of choices, and I was able to try some of their signature items like a fish chowder and their painted hills beef burger. Just simple, good food. Though, if you want to go for a more elevated experience I would definitely recommend their tatare and caviar tots. read more

We came here for breakfast and we had to wait for 30 minutes because they didn't enough staff working. Due to the staffing issue, service was delayed when we were seated. However, after we ordered the food arrived pretty quickly. The portions are pretty good, the prices however, is a different story. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. We came in before a show nearby, so it was definitely very busy, packed with people. We ended up sitting at the bar. The staff and particularly our bartender was very attentive, good energy & rapport. He recommended the Nice Margarita and sold me when he said it had coconut. It was delicious. One-drink-buzz girl worthy!! I highly recommend. For dinner, our group all had salads with added protein. I'll have to say that two things can be true: portions were not big and it was filling (for me being a lighter eater). Our salads were fresh, my salmon portion was tiny and the salad itself very small. More like a side salad size. It was tasty - nothing remarkable. I did love the atmosphere and the staff made a huge difference in our experience. I would come here again, especially for the Nice margarita! read more

Ambiance - 4/5. It's a nice modern restaurant located on the corner of Sheraton hotel. You enter through the lobby for breakfast. They have some cozy booth options and chairs. Service -4/5. The host and servers were both nice. Food - 4/5. Don't let yourself discouraged from knowing that it's inside a hotel. I often have lower expectations for hotel restaurants, but this is one of the exceptions. They don't offer much options for breakfast, but we left this place completely satisfied this morning. The chefs here deserves a big kudo! They cooked everything perfectly. The way I remember eating breakfast in Paris! Cost: 3.5/5. Pretty reasonable. wild mushrooms omelette was $17. I normally don't care for potatoes, but they roasted it perfectly. West coast toast was $15. It's basically an avocado toast with perfectly cooked poached eggs. Add-on Steaks: $15. This was what both my boyfriend and I said wow to. It was so tender, flavorful, and juicy. It's not on the menu, but ask for it! You won't regret it! Went here for a work lunch and was excited about the menu. It was not as impressive as it all looked- both the interiors of this place and the sound of things on the menu. It has this fun lounge-gatspy esque vibe. But it did not feel like some kind of fun party when we got the food which was underwhelming. Expensive salad came in a tiny bowl and pasta dish was small.
