We ordered the following to share: Caviar tots Salmon crispy rice Great northern hummus Ahi tuna poke Crab cake Crispy chicken sandwich For drinks, we ordered the Pink Fog and it was horrible!! This drink should be taken off the menu! Lauri mentioned that Art the bartender has 2 mock tails that were incredible but were not on the menu and she was kind enough to replace our nasty drinks with some really incredible ones! One tasted exactly like a keylime pie, so he called it "keylime pie." The other one did not have a name yet, but when I tasted it, it was like a sunset paradise. If this ever makes its way to the menu, I hope they call it "sunset paradise!" The food was great, but these mocktails made our dining experience very memorable! When I think of keylime pies and sunset paradise, it takes me back to Alder & Ash! I would come back specifically for these drinks! I stopped by Alder & Ash while in Seattle for a work trip, and it ended up being a great experience during my visit. The retro atmosphere is really well done--stylish without trying too hard, and just a really comfortable space to unwind. The drinks were excellent--well-crafted, not overly fussy, and a great match for the menu. I ordered the shrimp scampi, and it was fantastic. Light, flavorful, and just really well-balanced. It felt elevated but still approachable. Service was friendly and on point throughout the evening. During our stay at the Sheraton we decided to try Alder & Ash!!! Omgosh!!! The ambience was spacious and clean, such a great vibe!! Service was on top from the moment we walked in till we finished!! Let's get into the food... We had a couple appies, couple shots and shared a main dish! Which was the best way to go! MUST TRY..... Chinook Salmon Crispy Rice these are fire!!! Crispy deep fried rice with a tasty piece of salmon on top!!! Absolutely delicious and flavorful!! We ordered French Fries they were crispy and fried to perfection!! An amazing place to unwind and recharge in the middle of downtown Seattle and literally right next to the convention center. Ambiance is spot on, you can't ask for a better lunch/dinner location that's clean, well-lit, comfortable and modern. Very relaxing and spacious with a dining room and a bar/lounge space. Food was also excellent - we went twice, once for lunch and another for dinner during the week we visited and got the Alder and Ash burger. The fries are perfectly crispy and the burger is tender and juicy. Top notch! Only drawback for us was their service. Don't get us wrong, the servers were very kind and friendly but it was really hard to overlook the lack of attention. We waited at the booth for 10 min before we greeted by anyone and eventually seated, despite it not being busy (in fact the lounge only had 1-2 other tables) and the server was mostly chatting away with another guest. We also struggled to get our waters refilled on both occasions we came. Finally, my husband ordered the brussels sprouts twice, our waitress acknowledged it, and then we never got it so we just let it go. Overall it was really really slow and felt unattentive. Right away walking in the door we knew we were in for an experience. From the deco, ambiance and to the friendly staff our good time just kept going. Loved my happy hour experience here! I chose it because my friend and I were going to the paramount that evening for a show and this spot was around the corner. As soon as I arrived the hostess and bartenders were very welcoming and friendly. I quickly ordered some bites and a cocktail before the happy hour prices ended. Luckily the food came out quickly. I tried the veggie tempura, the fancy tots, and salmon fried rice. I really liked the salmon rice out of the apps I had. Then my friend and I split the pasta with bolognese. It did not disappoint!! I've had the pleasure of going to Alder & Ash several times - but my most recent visit was for happy hour before an event nearby. Their happy hour seriously can't be beat. They have several $10 bar bites but my absolute favorite that I will sing from the rooftops about, is the Salmon Crispy Rice. It is SO good! And honestly, it's quite filling. Because I'm a glutton for it, I could seriously eat two plates but one plate alone does the job. They also have a selection of $10 wines on their happy hour menu and they're all from the PNW which is a nice touch. The best way to describe my experience at Alder & Ash is, "A for effort." It's what I thought after my main course, and what my husband mentioned after leaving the restaurant too. We came here for Seattle Restaurant Week for my birthday. If I was solely judging the food, this wouldn't be a 5-star review--it was all the other things added up that pushes this review to 5 stars. I'll break it down: Service The hosted greeted us, noticed in the notes it was my birthday and acted so genuinely enthused to have us come for dinner. Our kind waiter, James, acknowledged it was my birthday and brought out 2 complimentary glasses of champagne. Wow! My dad, asked James if they carried "fresh squeezed lemonade." (A peculiar request, but something he always inquires about at restaurants, ever since I was a kid). While they didn't, my dad still ordered it anyway. And, a short while later, the bartender came out with freshly squeezed lemonade. They could've easily brought out whatever they had on hand, and it would've been fine. But, they really went the extra mile--the lemonade was delicious too. I was very touched by this gesture. Beverage temperature Nowadays, a lot of restaurants just serve room-temperature water. So, I was pleasantly surprised when the table water was chilled. And, all the other beverages--champagne, and beer were also cold. Portions/value The portions are huge. Since we were there during restaurant week, I thought that they may skimp on portions, but they didn't--it is a great value. If you're going during restaurant week with someone else, order different appetizers and desserts, as they're big enough to share. Food My parents really enjoyed their meals. I thought the food was pretty good. Although, I would skip the crispy rice next time--too thick, and the rice was gummy on the inside. Short ribs were pretty solid, but I would try something else next time. My favorite was the dessert. Unfortunately, the soft serve machine was down, but the other desserts that we ordered--profiteroles, mango sorbet, and raspberry sorbet were excellent. The sorbets were very refreshing. This time I was seated at one of the tables at the far back for lunch, and it had a very classy vibe and a decent amount of people were having business lunch or single patrons doing their phone meetings. It reminded me of the hidden bougie restaurant we had at my business school, where we took VIP guests. I love that Alder & Ash creates different vibes in different sections of their space and it's such a perfect space for a venue. The 2-item $20 course for SRW was a steal and had an extensive amount of choices, and I was able to try some of their signature items like a fish chowder and their painted hills beef burger. Really great happy hour here for $10 drinks and bar bites! It's situated in the Grand Sheraton, right across the convention center. Service was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately I didn't realize before my arrival that the restaurant was part of the Sheraton Hotel in Downtown. This combination (restaurant of the hotel) usually made me realize I don't like my experiences because of the type of clientele they serve and menu is typically small, with lots of fried food and/or not really good. The restaurant is beautiful well decorated and huge, want feel a bit awkward because was not full in a Friday night. The service is very fast. The disappointment was really the food. Small selection with all dishes coming with fries. The best dish we had was the appetizer, ahi tuna tartar. Definitely worth to order. Main dish we ordered their stake dish that was not on the temperature we ask for (medium rare), it was over cooked and the mussels that were okay. ALL dishes come with fries. Maybe I didn't check well the menu but I can't recall to see other side options. I think what threw me off the most was when I ask for bread and they brought white sliced bread. I think how this restaurant is classified and rated the menu was so so and prices were high so I felt mislead. Our dinner was almost $200 and I think was over priced based in other experiences. This delight of a gem had some of the best black cod I have ever eaten in my life! Sushi samba and nobu got nothing on Alder and Ash's black cod! It was buttery and flakey all while melting in your mouth. I also sampled their smoked old fashioned drink, but the smoke was a bit overpowering and bitter. Location is fantastic if you're already downtown. Love the vibe as soon as you walk in. Service is attentive, and the bar keepers are friendly and informative about good tasting things and delicious drinks. Arrived at happy hour which was the best thing ever everything on the menu is $10. Including the bite size crispy rice topped with chinook salmon, and my favorite was the caviar tater tots, and wanted to try the hummus because it showed up at the next table over and looked wonderful. It was very flavorful and came with what looked like fire toasted bread. Also had the raw oysters were an amazing deal for six at $10. The food was good enough that we decided to try the salmon entrée and the Cobb salad. Unanimous decision was to return again with our other friends: this is the kind of place you can bring your friends for great food and a fantastic price and they'll commend your choice. We sat at the bar near the window and it was cool as you could people watch. Since there was a gaming convention nearby, there were plenty of interesting people to see which made time pass by. We shared a club sandwich and the fries were crispy and flavorful. The sandwich was average but still tasted good. This, combined with the funny bartender made for a relaxing and fun time. My wife had high hopes for our dinner at this place, not only because of the many good reviews, but because it looked like a nice elegant, classy, and very nicely decorated bar/restaurant. We sat at the back of the bar lounge area....where it was comfy and quiet. Shortly after, our server stopped by to welcome us and to take our happy hour drinks order.....we did so, along with a couple of happy hour snacks to start. We ordered the Tempura Vegetables....which comes with a basil aioli dipping sauce, and the Great Northern Bean Hummus.....which came with a few slices slices of toasted sourdough. With these two snacks, we ordered a glass of red and white wines each. Ok, so, I know this place has only been opened for about 3 months, so there's still room for improvement. First of all, the tempura vegetables was just broccolini....that's it. Second, the batter used was so thick and so cakey, we had to remove most of it just to get to the broccolini. Third, it was quite greasy. This is definitely not "tempura" style. The hummus was not too bad....went nice with the sourdough, but we didn't finish it because we didn't want to fill up on bread before dinner. Unfortunately, the "Tempura Vegetables" was so disappointing , and the humus was just an ok "filler," that we decided not to stay here for our dinner. We just finished our drinks, paid the check, and left. We really think the happy hour menu has to be re-worked with food items that people actually like, and will go well with a happy hour drink. Came in for the breakfast Buffett. The atmosphere is very nice. The staff was excellent. We're from Texas so we're used to talking and being friendly - the staff accommodated our friendliness well! Everything is top notch. My wife commented on how the silverware didn't cut into your hands. Three things were amazing on the breakfast buffet. The oatmeal, the yogurt (local from Washington and the best I've had), and the French toast. Wow. All were very very good. The eggs were some of the best buffet eggs I've had and the bacon was equally a solid 5 stars. They don't skimp on anything. Prices was about $28 for buffet and worth it. They only needed a way to toast their bagels and toast (apparently it was not working). Great and highly recommend! We returned for dinner and had several wonderful meals. The rigatoni was fantastic. The rib eye with bone marrow sauce was equally great. The salmon was good although we did not like the side dish with it. The Wagyu was one of everyone's favorite.
