Alcove always delivers - Great food, great service and great views of the water. The half bottle of Sancerre is a really nice choice for a white wine. The shrimp tacos and prosciutto bites are my favorite dishes.

Another time, Alcove! When you have dined at a restaurant once and loved it and then came back a second time but was disappointed, should you give it another chance? Alcove is one of these restaurants in particular. We used to love coming here. The ambiance of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. It is so warm inside with their low lights and decor. We enjoyed our time here except for this past one. We had reservations, which I do recommend since it's in a busy area right across from the Boston Garden. We were going to see a comedy show and made early reservations. Upon arrival, we didn't get that friendly welcome that you usually see and feel. I assumed it was the manager that checked us in, but I am not 100 % sure. The good: We sat down and our server Tyler came over immediately and asked what we wanted to drink. I will say the service was impeccable. Since I am in the wine industry I really enjoyed a server who also has this passion. When I asked about tasting a few wines he brought over every bottle and explained what each was. I truly was impressed. We both enjoyed one of their red wines from the Loire Valley, France. The food: We started with the Panzanella which was ok. Panzanella usually doesn't have lettuce but every restaurant does it differently. They did use lettuce/arugula in theirs but it was just ok. For entrees, we split the Pork Chop which was a bit dry. It came with a creamy polenta and this was the best part of the dish. For dessert, we ended up ordering the Chocolate Mousse with pistachios and sea salt. I will have to say the dessert was the highlight of our meal. I know they changed Chefs so this could be the reason for the lack of food, flavor, etc. I do believe they will improve but hopefully sooner than later so we can all return and have a better experience. Cheers!

I went to alcove for drinks last night and had a great experience. We got a Friday 7:15pm patio reservation (for 2) just a few hours in advance. The view from the patio is stunning. It is a bit windy because of its location, but it's great for adding a breeze on a hot day. My friend and I just went for drinks and we loved their cocktails and the prices were not bad. Service was timely and overall we loved alcove.

The smoked salmon pâté was incredible. Service was great and the view is nice. I definitely recommend visiting Alcove.

We loved this place! Went here for Christmas and the food, service, and ambiance were incredible! The restaurant was incredibly lively and we started with the Raspberry Lime Rickey and a 2022 Au Bon Climat Chardonnay which were both great. We shared the French Onion Dip, Crispy Kale Salad, Shishito Peppers, and Rainbow Carrots with Carrot Cake for dessert. We'd order everything again. Extra special if you can get a seat by the windows!

There were very few redeeming aspects to the meal, and we left feeling both disrespected and unsatisfied as customers. The issues started right away. We ordered drinks--including a pear mocktail--but were brought the wrong ones, and then they attempted to charge us for those incorrect drinks. In hindsight, the cocktail mix-up should have been a warning of what was to come. The pear mocktail itself was also quite bad. The service felt chaotic throughout the night. We asked multiple times for additional servings of steak and fries, but were largely ignored. Meanwhile, nearby large tables were repeatedly served, cleared out entire trays, and still received more attention from staff. For an all-you-can-eat steak frites offering, we each received only one serving despite several requests. As for the food itself, it did not make up for the service. The steak was just okay--some pieces were chewy and overly fatty, though acceptable if refills had actually been provided. The fries, however, were terrible. Our first serving was so hard it was nearly inedible, and the only refill we received was just as bad. I also ordered the spinach risotto, which was slightly better than the steak, but it was so salty I couldn't finish it. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

The second time, I managed to land the location but they were closed. But the third time? It was the one! Now here's the twist: even though Gâté bakes most of its pastries in-house, they no longer make their Instagram-famous chocolate mousse there. Instead, it's made here at Zuzu's. So naturally... here we are. I couldn't leave my daughter out of this beauty- so after dinner nearby, we intentionally skipped dessert there and rushed here just before closing. Thank God we did. Zuzu's was actually closed to the public for a private event, but luckily they were still doing take out. A win is a win. Two chocolate mousses to go! And service was great even placing the order by phone. The chocolate mousse is just heavenly. Deeply rich with an intense chocolate flavor that was luxurious and comforting at the same time. Is it too forward to rate just on their chocolate mousse alone? Maybe? But so what- it's just great!
