Still one of my favorites! Great steak sandwich. Great cocktails. Great service! Parking is a bit challenging.

Not sure if it's just me being completely over steakhouses or not, but the food didn't quite live up to the hype. My bf has been here once before taking me and he said it was amazing. So, we went back & he said it wasn't as great as the first time. Steak and sides were pretty good, but I'm just over going to a steakhouse. Steak was cooked correctly, probably could've used a tin but more salt. Server was nice. Seems like a place locals like to go & the crowd is older peeps.

Stopped by ALC Steaks for date night with my husband and had a great time. Our server was Brandon E and he was awesome - so professional, polite, attentive, had great suggestions, etc. Five gold stars for him! APPS: (1) Almost Famous Crab Cakes; with a name like this, I thought they'd be next level, but was let down. So I guess they lived up to the name. (2) Crispy Fried Gulf Oyster; YUM, Yum, Yum. Highly recommend. MEAL: (1) Caesar salad; easily one of the best, if not THE best, Caesar I've had in Austin. Highly recommend. (2) 12 oz Ribeye Medium -- my husband and I split this and it was nice that the kitchen separated the steaks for us rather than us trying to divvy it up at the table. However, it came out Medium Rare so my husband had to eat most of my portion. I personally wished for more seasoning on the steak too but we ordered 4 sauces to try out so that helped. (2a) SAUCES - They charge for sauces but offer a sampler of 4 for $12 (you save $1 doing that) but the portion was bigger than I expected so that was nice. We ordered the Chimichurri, Still Austin Bourbon, ALC Sauce and Jalapeño Blue Cheese. The Chimichurri was very bitter - we spit our food out with that one, unfortunately. I didn't have the Jalapeño Blue Cheese, but it was my husband's favorite. The ALC Sauce was my favorite - very traditional and recognizable flavors. The Still Austin Bourbon was one we were indifferent about. (2b) SIDES: the steak came with one side then we ordered a second side so we ended up with hash browns and the Brussels sprouts. The hash browns were, unfortunately, inedible - all you could taste was oil, whereas the brussel sprouts were delicious.

Excellent steaks that were cooked perfectly. The server was very friendly and the steaks were huge! Everything is bigger in Texas! The pecan pie crust was very crunchy and fresh. I appreciated the fact that they had Port on their menu. The ambience is great as well. This was everything that I hoped for when visiting Texas.

I came here with a large party and I absolutely love the ambiance of the place. It was extremely busy but our male servers were extremely attentive, prompt and professionally dressed and extremely attractive. Yall did great job there! We had a pre fix menu and I selected the southwest salad, my entree was the grilled chicken with creamy poblano sauce and mashed potatoes. The chicken was so dry and mashed potatoes needed salt but nevertheless I still enjoyed the food! Also, the appetizers were the stars of the show!! I was blown away it was so so good. The fried mushrooms, goat cheese stuffed poblanos, warm rolls, shrimp cocktail and lamb chops covered in hot sauce with the blue cheese sauce was incredible! Finishing the meal with the brownie pie was the cherry on top! Great work ALC! Just work on a nice marinade for the chicken so it doesn't come out dry please. Can't wait to come back!

Came here to celebrate dual birthdays (yay, us!) It's been years since I've been here and it hasn't changed at all. And it should. Our server was very loud, not the professional, well trained server I'd expect at a classy steakhouse. Strict rules about no burgers in the dining room, only in the bar, and unfortunately, that was what my dining companion craved. A chopped steak was not a good substitute, and my salmon was meh--way too salty and overcooked. They use their steak seasoning on the salmon and it wasn't a good match. The baked potato was served barely warm with waaay too much butter (and i like butter). The brussels sprouts side was the best dish of the night. Rather than a celebratory dessert, our server haphazardly and belatedly handed us a card (printed with signatures of staff members; there must be a stack of them and he just grabbed two) and a small container of their house-made steak seasoning (which, as I already pointed out, was not that great, as it is mostly salt). The whole experience was rather sad and a disappointment.

This place was pretty nice inside. Staff was on top of keeping our waters and drinks taken care of. We tried the buffalo lamb chops which was an interesting combo. The flatbread pizza appetizer was pretty amazing. Our main course with the steak and sides were good. Steak was cooked just right and lightly seasoned. The brussel sprouts had great flavor. I had mashed potatoes on the side and they were ok. I do appreciate how they don't over salt anything.

An old school Austin classic steakhouse with a small, always-hopping bar, ALC is one of my favorites. The happy hour is the thing for me. The ribeye steak sandwich is, well, a beautiful small ribeye dropped on some bread with LTP. It's simple and perfect and such a HH deal at $13. The martinis, both Mexican and dirty, absolutely slap. And if you're lucky, Bo will be working and he is just the best!

My review is perfect for anyone who seeks an intimate space with a limited number of friends to celebrate a particular milestone or event. Apart from a large dining room, they do have some areas set aside for privacy....but first.......This steakhouse is located right on Lamar Boulevard in a strip center just across from the tavern. It has literally been here for decades and is approaching 700 reviews. If you're coming here for drinks, the bar area is very small, cramped and loud. Now for the good news.... I came here with many of my coworkers for a special dinner. They do have a private dining room for such events which will hold up to 30 people. Since there was so many of us, they created a special menu for our group. The first thing that arrived were baskets of warm rolls and butter follwed by apps of shrimp and fried mushrooms which were exceptional. The salad was also fresh and everyone loved their filets and sides. The quality of the filet was tender enough to cut with a fork. Even the salmon was properly prepared for a steak house. The service was on point by experienced servers. The brownie pie dessert was served warm slowly melting the ice cream and the berries and cream were super fresh. In short, we had a fantastic evening of food and wine with perfect service. Check out the photos below, which will only have you making your reservation.

Can't even count the number of times I've driven by this place without realizing what this building was! We came with some friends earlier this month on a random weekday, so can't speak to how busy it can get. Was surprised at how big this restaurant is for its location, and the low-lighting and ambience was top notch. Got the 16 oz ribeye along with the truffle mac and cheese. No regrets! Every single bite oozed with juicy perfection, I have no notes. Obviously a bit pricey, but the meal was worth it. Most definitely would recommend for a fancy evening, special occasion, or celebration. But I'd say this is more of a four-dollar-sign spot

My understanding is that Ember will validate, but it wasn't apparent to me how that works and honestly I walked out forgetting it and having to pay the bill for parking - oh well. I came with a party of six and we were celebrating a birthday. The team at Ember was very accommodating. We were seated downstairs in their "Speakeasy" room. It's a bit dark, but cool atmosphere. There are other dining options if you prefer a bit brighter setting. We were served complimentary birthday shots! These were quite tasty - enough so that I ordered another round of those citrus based shooters. Everyone at the table ordered a cocktail. Nearly all the cocktails on the menu are going to be served in a feminine looking glass and with a flower. The cocktail menu is pretty much for the ladies. On the bright side, they have a good selection of bourbons, tequila, etc available for straight pours at a decent price. Not extensive selection, but I think a good choice - enough that I think you will find something to fit your price point and taste profile. Our waitress was top notch. Very attentive and paid close attention to the orders from our gluten sensitive guest ensuring she ordered safely. We ordered a couple small plates as appetizers for the whole table. Everyone loved the crab cake. I thought it was tasty but wasn't expecting whole kernel corn in a crab cake so that threw me off a little. Market seafood crudo - this is a fish appetizer and as the name implies changes based on availability. The night we ate was a Hamachi or Salmon option. The salmon had a bit more of a spicy sauce so we chose that. It was a hit. We also chose a tuna tartare and it was fresh, good but didn't knock our socks off. When ready for the main course - our waitress had a number of off-menu specials to tell us about and honestly many were very interesting options. In fact, we chose to split a 50oz Tomahawk steak. This was a huge steak plated on a hot platter, already sliced off the bone with some fingerling potatoes. This was honestly the most expensive part of the meal (no surprise), but also the least impressive. Now visually it was a spectacle for sure, but the meat certainly had pieces that were tough with some large pieces of fat. Now I don't mind the fat, but when sliced there were a couple pieces that were nothing but fat, other pieces still that were mostly gristle. We all agreed the seasoning was just missing, it seemed to have no seasoning at all. It was also quite charred. One of the claims to fame here is their Josper oven and clearly it can put a good char on a steak. Some in our party liked it, but I thought it was a bit much. There can be fine line between a good steak crust and a burnt crust. I thought it was a bit much, and maybe why the seasoning seemed missing. On the bright side, it was cooked correctly to order. My only problem was, for the price, this was a complete miss. We also ordered scallops and the morida shrimp. Both were excellent. These were probably worth coming back for. The morida shrimp come served in a bowl with a rich sauce that was enjoyed by the whole party. The scallops come pan seared and were cooked perfectly - which is key to enjoying a good scallop. Be aware that the typical order of scallops though comes with only two scallops - rather light even for a single individual, because these were not on the "small plates" menu, it was supposed to be a full entree. Great experience overall, but we just felt not quite worth what we had to pay for it. Overall, it was just over $150 per person. What could have saved it - for that price, the steak HAS to be on point.
