Excellently priced food with great service. My friends and I opted for noodle dishes--each having something different than the other--and every one of us was pleased with what we had. Very friendly staff, menu looks amazing! What I really like is their sushi entree menu, for sushi lovers like me it give you a wide variety of different sushi combinations to try out which I really like! Their happy hour is also pretty decent, my girlfriend and I got some sake and beer, for food we got the gyoza! The gyoza was super good, and for only 5$!! read more

Good food and tasty meals. Ordered the bento box lunch special for $11. Salmon was well prepared but the pork katsu was a bit dry. The bento box tray should be changed as it was all scratched up from years of use. read more

Love this place, they have some of the best and delicious hot and sour soup! The food delivers really fast too!

Mediocre from start to finish. If you enjoy the fish/sushi/rolls here you definitely need to try other places.

Came here just for a snack. Ordered the Beef Negimaki and was extremely disappointed!! It was not at all what I expected having had this once somewhere else where it was a total win. Here the meat was very overcooked and the tops of the scallions were burned more than I would have liked. The ginger teriyaki sauce was okay, but was not able to fix the overcooked meat and burned scallion. I ate two of them and asked for the check. I was gonna get sushi, but did not try the sushi because of the appearance. Looking at the fish behind the glass it did not look extremely appetizing/fresh. It was all pre cut fish and the tuna and salmon in particular looked a little dry around the edges. In my experience the precut fish tends to not be as favorable and fresh tasting as when the cut the fish as you order it. Call me a yuppie, but when you have had good quality you can easily pick out the poor quality spots like this. read more

This place is amazing food is fresh and fast. My wife loves it. The wait staff is attentive and very nice. Definitely will visit very often.

I've been here twice, for a lunch and dinner. It's very decent sushi, at a really affordable price for the neighborhood. Had a lunch special with salad, miso soup and three rolls for $12. Dinner for two, with sake, was very affordable too. The cooked food was fresh and tasty - squid appetizer was tender and delicious. The only weird thing was when a server gave us the wrong dish, came back after a full 2-3 minutes that it had been sitting on our table and then took it to a different table! Even so I'd still go back. Check in on Yelp for a free green tea ice cream. read more

Came here for some dinner although I think in the future this will be my takeout sushi spot. Came in with a friend, ordered several rolls including basics like spicy tuna and yellowtail scallion. The restaurant feels like a standard NYC sushi joint, but it does have a nice outside seating area in the back ( so make sure to ask otherwise they will seat you inside). Food was pretty solid, not as good as my favorite sushi spot in the East Village but for casual sushi in Williamsburg and future takeout orders it's perfect. One star off for a strange smell the restaurant had (wasn't strong enough to deter us though) read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a rainy night after a show. It exceeded our expectations. We decided to splurge on the Sushi and Sashimi for two! and it was awesome! It also made us feel pretty fancy. Great service and delicious food, highly recommend. read more

The food is delicious...i ordered the shrimp roll with spicy sauce and liked it so much I ordered another. It's prices are fairly reasonable and I can't wait to go again for my birthday dinner Aug 1st. Only problem is the service is kind of bad. The 1 woman who was serving looked like she had no patience and didn't want to assist me with the menu when I asked about the appetizer and when I said I'd like to order, the male server assumed I wanted take-out. I had to tell him I"d like to sit and eat. There wasn't any direction or help in me sitting at a table. Kind of weird and annoying but i'll come again because its quiet and i loved the food. read more

Went on a Wednesday evening around 8, not too crowded and definitely not too loud for conversation. The ambiance is intimate, a candlelit space perfect for a date. Ako is great! My go to spot during the summer for their patio. Never disappoints. Always a Williamsburg go to

Never again. Ordered the lunch special which came with 2 rolls, a salad, and miso soup. As I was trying to enjoy my spicy crunch salmon roll, I bit into something quite firm. At first I thought it was the crunchy part of the salmon roll. Turns out it was a piece of STAPLE in my roll. Imagine if I had swallowed that. A WHOLE PIECE OF A STAPLE!! Never again will order from here. The ones preparing the food are very nonchalant about the safety of customers. Save your money and go to Fushimi. Extremely disappointed. read more

I believe you can judge a good sushi spot by ordering the most pain and simple rolls and just judging based on the freshness of the ingredients. In terms of that, AKO did well. I ordered the salmon avocado roll and miso soup to give this place a try. The sushi tasted fresh and authentic; the miso soup was good also but was small and lacking in tofu and mushrooms, it was more like a miso broth. What troubled me during this visit and lessened the chance of me stopping by again is the EXTREMELY slow service. I waited over 40 minutes for that simple roll! That is inexcusable; it does not take even 5 minutes to roll up a few ingredients, and others sitting in tables beside me seemed to be complaining also. The place was not that packed but it seemed as though the chefs were preparing a lot of 'to-go' orders. In my opinion, the customer that's physically in the restaurant SHOULD be served first. It was ridiculous to say the least. I ended up ordering another round of miso soup as I waited patiently for my little roll. Watched people around me eat and leave, then finally received my food. Which, I actually liked, wanted to order more of, but no way was I waiting another 40 minutes for a roll. The server was nice about it; she apologized by it seemed out of her control. The ambience of the place is quite warm with dim lighting; I liked it. But other than that, I would not really recommend this place if you're looking for a quick bite or if you're heading in there hungry. It is also a little pricey what what you get. read more

I will come back here just for the beyond exemplary avocado salad. $6 and it's basically a while avocado atop a healthy amount of greens. Best deal on the burg. Love the ambiance. The Ako Wasabi rolls are amazing!!! The miso soup and edamame came out hot and ready. It was a delightful Easter Sunday :)!

Do NOT eat here!!! I ate here on Sunday evening around 10pm. The kitchen closes at 11 so I didnt think I would watch the men that touch my raw fish scrubbing the floors and cleaning up as I was waiting for my order. I should have complained about it but I was hungry and honestly assumed they would do the right thing and either wear gloves and or wash their hands. I was with a friend who doesnt eat sushi so we were just chatting and while waiting for my small order. I first ordered the Miso soup which was the typical Miso soup nothing special.. Then I ordered the shrimp shumai and I could literally taste the dough as if it was raw so I only ate about 2 the rest I left on my plate. Then I ordered a special Golden Mango roll I believe that was the name of it, I honestly dont want to remember anything about this place after I caught FOOD POISONING!!! that same night around 1 am I could not sleep and began throwing up!!! My bones were aching I had a fever and I could not eat or drink ANYTHING for 2 days!!!! Im not sure what part of the meal gave me the virus but I do KNOW i will NEVER eat here again!! and I advise you my dear fellow yelpers not to eat here either!!! read more

i've been here on several occasions. i wouldn't say they have the best sushi in the world or in the area... but it's definitely the top 10 in Brooklyn for me. what i love about Ako is the service and cute touches they have with the specialty rolls! from flashing led lights to beautiful flower blossoms... it's so American of me to love all this stuff, but i don't care. =) patios becoming a big thing in Williamsburg lately. i love that they have one. even during the colder months in the fall/winter- they open it up whenever the weather is slightly warmer than usual. i've ordered every special roll they've offered. the biggest standouts are: Ako Wasabi (the tobiko is so yum) Tuna Salmon Twister Spicy Girl (they come with the LED lights!!!) 4 Seasons (all different types of tobiko~ love!!) overall presentation of sushi and cleanliness of all the food and prep- i like Ako a lot! =) read more

Before I get this restaurant, I was excited since the review was good but when I get there I was treated like a second class customer. Although 3 girls were serving at the same time on friday night ( the half of the table was empty), no one escorted us to the table. Also, the server threw away the dishes on top of our table. I'm a Korean but NORMAL Japanese way of serving their customer is not in this way. Fake Japanese restaurant!!!!! In the middle of Bedford st, this shouldn't happen!! Overall the service quality was below average! Don't go if you don't want to screw up your important meeting or date! read more
