This place has always been solid, consistent and convenient (right off the L). And after many many years, that's never changes. Something I love is that they do the specifics well. So the ikura and uni are fantastic without overcharging. The staff is attentive, and the vibe of the place is casual, welcoming, perfect for a solo meal, friend meetup, or date night. With Lu. J I get the pot of green tea. With dinner- the hot sake. It's not high end but it certainly scratches that sushi itch!

The restaurant is really cute! We came around 6:30pm on a weekday and were seated instantly. There is lots of indoor seating and patio seating (with a ceiling) and the ambiance is great! The bathroom is also clean. The sushi came out pretty quickly and tasted delicious! Prices are fairly reasonable.

We stopped by Ako for a quick lunch and had: - Sushi Lunch: $16; $17.42 with tax - Toro Dynasty Roll: $20; $21.78 with tax Both dishes were underwhelming. The Toro Dynasty Roll only had sriracha mayo to add a dimension of flavor. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals and start at 20%, which is a bit high since there wasn't complementary tea. Overall, it feels like better options are available elsewhere.

What great service that they have here. Every time our water was low, it was filled to the top. Pretty good. The waiters came by frequently to attend to whatever it might be. However, I doubt that you need to make reservations as there's plenty of seating in the back space or in the main dining area. Food wise, I ordered the spicy seafood soup, which was alright. It's only for one person, as it's not a huge serving.the Golden Dragon roll was pretty good as the mango taste stood out. The classic roll combo was all of the items that sushi places all have. The matcha tiramisu tasted great as it's a combination of both desserts that I enjoy.

No frills, but solid sushi spot. Service was quick and friendly, and they never miss out on the details. Had some sushi pieces a la carte as well as some rolls. Also tried an order of the rock shrimp appetizer which came with a creamy spicy mayo sauce. Ako is a great spot for inexpensive sushi and lunch sets slap bang in the middle of Bedford Avenue not far from the subway. I first came here by default when the restaurant I was planning on going to was closed and I've now been back many times. The room is pleasant with well spaced tables and there's a great seating area out back in the garden. The servers are friendly. The lunch sets are great value, they have a few types to choose from, not just the standard bentos and the portions are generous. There's a good variety of fish available and it's well prepared, rice is good too. Love it for a quick lunch!

I've only ordered delivery from Ako so I can't speak to their dine-in experience, but the sushi here is really solid and not too expensive. I've gotten the spicy roll combo a couple times now and it's a great variety at a good value, as you get 6 pieces of spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, crunchy spicy salmon all in one. The crunchy spicy salmon is by far the best one in the combo though!!

We came here one rainy Sunday afternoon, thankfully their backyard area is covered with a transparent roof and we were able to hear and see the raindrops, we found it whimsical! Since I have not had a bento box in months, I ordered it to see what is their take on it. I selected salmon teriyaki bento. They first served a veggie salad with ginger dressing followed by miso soup. The bento box came with 4 pieces of California roll, 2 pieces of fried siomai, white rice, and salmon teriyaki on a bed of mixed greens. I thought the serving was generous for $13, and it didn't compromise the quality nor the taste. On our way out, I told our server that we will come back next weekend. With great customer service and price points, who wouldn't?!

Ako was such a great find!! Stopped in for a very late lunch after having a very late breakfast so I didn't order much but I was really thrilled with my sushi roll. It was some of the freshest, tastiest sushi I've had in a while-- salmon was absolutely buttery. Would love to come back and try some more off the menu and sit on their beautiful back patio! (12-19-22) Update-- I returned for dinner this evening and was able to be seated on their back patio right away! It was a little cold but they have heaters so wasn't unbearable. The vibes in the back garden are soo cute and chill, I loved the attention to detail. And food was just as good as I was expecting, I really enjoyed my sushi rolls. Also was pleased to see that their happy hour goes past 6 pm because we ordered some wine when we arrived around 6:30 and were charged the happy hour price! Service was lovely and food came out in good time. New fav sushi spot!

Everyone was so nice working, but the sushi was unfortunately so bad. I feel deceived by the 4.1 rating. There's a lot of room for improvement and I hope that this place only gets better :)

I believe you can judge a good sushi spot by ordering the most pain and simple rolls and just judging based on the freshness of the ingredients. In terms of that, AKO did well. I ordered the salmon avocado roll and miso soup to give this place a try. The sushi tasted fresh and authentic; the miso soup was good also but was small and lacking in tofu and mushrooms, it was more like a miso broth. What troubled me during this visit and lessened the chance of me stopping by again is the EXTREMELY slow service. I waited over 40 minutes for that simple roll! That is inexcusable; it does not take even 5 minutes to roll up a few ingredients, and others sitting in tables beside me seemed to be complaining also. The place was not that packed but it seemed as though the chefs were preparing a lot of 'to-go' orders. In my opinion, the customer that's physically in the restaurant SHOULD be served first. It was ridiculous to say the least. I ended up ordering another round of miso soup as I waited patiently for my little roll. Watched people around me eat and leave, then finally received my food. Which, I actually liked, wanted to order more of, but no way was I waiting another 40 minutes for a roll. The server was nice about it; she apologized by it seemed out of her control. The ambience of the place is quite warm with dim lighting; I liked it. But other than that, I would not really recommend this place if you're looking for a quick bite or if you're heading in there hungry. It is also a little pricey what what you get. read more

Before I get this restaurant, I was excited since the review was good but when I get there I was treated like a second class customer. Although 3 girls were serving at the same time on friday night ( the half of the table was empty), no one escorted us to the table. Also, the server threw away the dishes on top of our table. I'm a Korean but NORMAL Japanese way of serving their customer is not in this way. Fake Japanese restaurant!!!!! In the middle of Bedford st, this shouldn't happen!! I have been ordering the lunch specials for years and I have yet to be disappointed. Super fresh sushi, good sized portions and the delivery always arrive promptly. Never again. Ordered the lunch special which came with 2 rolls, a salad, and miso soup. As I was trying to enjoy my spicy crunch salmon roll, I bit into something quite firm. At first I thought it was the crunchy part of the salmon roll. Turns out it was a piece of STAPLE in my roll. Imagine if I had swallowed that. A WHOLE PIECE OF A STAPLE!! Okay so me and my friends were craving sushi all day yesterday. We happened to be in the area and found Ako, I must say it was delicious.My friend ordered the miso soup, with the peanut avocado roll along with a sake. She stated it was delicious, and it was the best sushi she had in while. As for me I ordered the shrimp tempura roll (MY FAV ROLL), & a crunchy spicy salmon roll. Along with spicy mayo & ginger, it was hands down the best sushi I've had so far in my life. The only thing that disappointed me was their water, it tasted like pure chlorine. I also got a free green tea ice cream , just for checking in. So overall it was quality sushi, the pace is small but cute. So if you're in the area definitely give them a try ! read more

The food is delicious...i ordered the shrimp roll with spicy sauce and liked it so much I ordered another. It's prices are fairly reasonable and I can't wait to go again for my birthday dinner Aug 1st. Only problem is the service is kind of bad. The 1 woman who was serving looked like she had no patience and didn't want to assist me with the menu when I asked about the appetizer and when I said I'd like to order, the male server assumed I wanted take-out. I had to tell him I"d like to sit and eat. There wasn't any direction or help in me sitting at a table. Went on a Wednesday evening around 8, not too crowded and definitely not too loud for conversation. The ambiance is intimate, a candlelit space perfect for a date. We had the sushi and sushimi for two and highly recommend it! Normally wouldn't give five stars this easily but I really have nothing to complain about. Even the miso soup was excellent. Bouquet is a small business that hasn't promoted much on Instagram or Eater, so it seems to have gone under the radar. I'm hoping I can do it justice as the first reviewer on this platform. We stumbled upon Bouquet during a mini bar crawl in Greenpoint. We initially planned to hit a few spots, but ended up settling in here for most of the night. We were mostly served by Eric who I believe was the owner operator. He's a NYC native who is super passionate about wine. The wine bar focuses on natural wines and other wines which emphasize minimal additives. The goal here seems to be to sell from producers who try to capture magic in a bottle. The wine list is three pages, so it's long but still approachable. There are about ten wines available by the glass. I started with a Montelpuciano. I sampled a bit and found it to be gassy and funky. The bartender was receptive to my feedback and made another recommendation - a different wine from the Loire Valley. The second option was more of what I was looking for. It was a more structured wine with a more traditional palate. I decided to eventually circle back to the Montelpuciano for my second glass. I'm stubborn and like to give a different flavors a chance to grow on me. I'm a person who doesn't like blue cheese but continually tries it just to make sure. The aroma of this wine was minerally. The best description I have is an Iron adjacent smell. Almost like blood but not the same. The flavor was earthy and rooty. It was the best part of the wine. It had a short finish. I'm no wine expert, but I can tell I was tasting something special. The last time I had wine like this was at a wine making competition. I also tried some of the wine on draft. It was an easy going wine that you could easily have a few of. We didn't have any food, but it seemed like the signature of the menu was their smash burgers. They also had some small bites like fries, cheese, olives, charcuterie, and salads. The other big items were schnitzel and the Rigatoni Alla Vino. The operator said the Rigatoni was an ode to a dish from Don Peppe's - a locals' favorite Italian restaurant in Queens. The space is welcoming. It part of the new wave of wine bars that aren't stuffy. It's about trying fun and experimental wines. Young stuff. Not necessarily hawking out for carefully aged vintages. It's fun and the team is very hospitable. Music is what I'd expect from a Queens local. Lots of 90s and 2000s hip hop. Playlist was filled with A Tribe Called Quest, Talib Kweli, and Common. They have some big speakers and turntables for vinyl records. They had a new record from Future which I suppose is something to boost for audiophiles. Acoustics here were as good as any listening lounge that we've been to in NYC. Entertainment wise, they have some board games behind the bar. No TVs inside the bar, but they have a projector in the backyard which can be used for special events. Two gender neutral restrooms. The one I used was handicap accessible. There is a step to enter the establishment, but they have a button to press in order to request assistance with entry. Good luck to Bouquet! They'll certainly be my go to for wine in Greenpoint.

+4 Stars for the Food -2 Star for the Service I come here quite frequently when I want an average, casual sushi meal as AKO is the best "neighborhood" sushi place that delivers. Usually order the Toro Dynasty Roll, Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll and some Yellowtail sushi/sashimi. The food is solid, nothing special but good. Yesterday, I stopped in after a workout to grab a quick bite. I ordered the above and was brought tuna sushi instead of yellowtail. When I informed the waitress (above average height, thin asian girl with black plastic glasses) she told me rudely that I had ordered tuna sushi. I politely told her "No I ordered yellowtail" (I never order tuna sushi as I dont like the taste of tuna on its own). She jerked the plate and made an "ughh" noise. I responded, "nevermind I'll just keep it" Mind you, I am not difficult to please and understand mistakes happen- however, don't blame me for your mistake and then give attitude. If Ako management reads this, they need to tell their staff, especially this waitress the importance of guest service. Not acceptable. read more

OK.... so I came into this place with my husband one day and we were extremely disappointed with the service we had. We came in one day after work for some sushi and we were upset to overhear the waitresses speak under their breathe and in Chinese to charge us service charge because they wanted FORCED tips. They think we dont understand what they are saying, like i learned and studied different languages in college so i know what you are saying. Like no sweetie, I give tip for good service and when we tried to call one of the girls after viewing the check and ask them why we were being charged the service if it was only two people being served, they tried to be slick and ignore us but then one of the girls said "Oh no you don't need to pay the amount that is in BOLD, you can pay the amount that is printed in SMALL" I wonder how many other customers they robbed by having them pay for the service. I have lived in Billyburg for almost 5 years. I have seen Sushi places come and go. Ako actually opened just about 2 months ago - i have been to this places many time and find it to be the best in Williamsburg. the food is fresh and Delicious (not only the sushi, but the sauces they have are yum yum!) The food decoration is a little wild, but it add much charter to the place - people who say "pay more attention to the food" are a little clueless - food presentation IS important, especially when the food is good. The staff is extremely friendly and does a good job making you think you are the only on that matter in their restaurant. I would highly recommend this place to others. (not only dinner - their lunch special is cheap and very good!) If you are not 100% sure where to get sushi in Williamsburg, go check them out, you will not be disappointed. Bon appetite M read more

As I was walking on Bedford Ave, spontaneously decided to go and try this sushi place as I have been craving for good sushi over the weekend blizzard. I ended up getting avocado salad which was really good and the portion was way too generous for $5. I had Ako Wasabi Roll, Kamikaze, California and Philadelphia Roll- all utterly fresh and delicious. A solid three. The sushi is by no means life changing, but good enough for multiple return visits. I can count on them to be my regular sushi take out joint. We were here last a couple of weeks ago and sampled a lot of the hand rolls. The white tuna and the Shrimp cucumber were good. Our group did try a few of the Signature rolls.
