I eat a lot, a lot of sushi. After a realllllly long day at work, I worked up quite an appetite and had a serious craving for sushi. I had the yuki 3 roll dinner, a white tuna jalepeno, salmon mango, and eel avocado which I switched for tuna avocado $1 up-charge. The rolls were almost tasteless, and the ratio of rice to fish was way off. For $20 I feel like I could have had a way more satisfying meal elsewhere. read more

Very modern japanese. I ordered the oyakodon with a draft beer. The oyakodon wasn't as yolks as I wanted it, but this is def a more Americanized Japanese place. The service was amazing, the food came quick and the ambiance is very nice read more

My first sushi place in this city and it's quite comparable price wise to where I come from. However, though prices are the same, the rolls I got were super yummy (Crunch Spicy Tuna and Salmon Avocado, $5.50ea). The miso soup for $2 wasn't too bad either. The great part was I got it all delivered (free delivery) at 11 at night and got it in less than 20 minutes. For the taste, delivery service (price- free! and quickness), and also the decent pricing, I would have to say that this could easily become my favourite Sushi on Bedford :) read more

This is a go-to for my boyfriend and I when we want to have a sit down dinner. There aren't many vegan restaurants to choose from off Bedford (really sad that Bliss closed down). There is byChloe just a few blocks up but that's more of a quick meal sort of thing. Ako in the summer time is the best. Be sure to take a table in their backyard. It's so cute and romantic. We only ever get any of the veggie sushi rolls (there's about 8 vegan options). They range between $4-$6 per roll, which is typical. Only giving it 4 stars because the customer service isn't a 5 star level, depends who is serving you. read more

Super cute outdoor backyard seating, and tables are spaced out with plastic dividers for safety. The fish is fresh and smooth, and the lunch specials are really good deals ($15 for a bowl of chirashi, miso soup and salad!!). This will definitely be a go to spot for sushi read more

I've only been living in NYC for about 6 months, granted I've tried quite a bit if sushi places and Ako NEVER disappoints. They got the freshest fish I've had in NYC. You can tell the freshness based in the texture of the fish when you eat it. I always order the ume chirashi and my soul is always full afterward. If you go to the restaurant you can see the chefs making sushi at the front. My girlfriend also always gets the spicy ahi combo which is also FIRE. Highly highly recommend. read more

Good quality sushi for the price, better than other places of comparable cost. I ate at the restaurant.

Hands down the best sushi in Williamsburg!!! I go here at least once a week, sometimes twice. Please please open an Ako in Greenpoint!!!

I've ordered sushi 2-3x a week for 25 years. This is the first time I've found a stable in the middle of my sushi. I bit into their spicy tuna roll to find something hard in my mouth that I thought was maybe a hardened piece of rice. Turns out it was a staple. Baffled how that even happens. read more

Was quite hungover when I came here. Had to run across the street to get a bougie nearly $9 juice. But, this meal was the perfect amount of food. Nothing special about what I ordered. I'm sure their other dishes are more special. I got the Chicken Katsu lunch Bento Box ($11), which came with all that stuff. We went on Saturday afternoon -- not packed. Quick service. They also have a wine menu lol read more

Took four years of living in Williamsburg before I finally tried this spot, hah. Went over the holidays toward the end of the time the restaurant was opened. The food was great! I was excited to finally try a good sushi place in the hood! So....why the three stars? The service. My friend and I felt rushed the entire time, even as we were trying to add alcohol and more food to the bill. I understood where they were coming from, but we were also one of five different tables. The lack of interest in our dining experience solidified why this was a one time only visit. read more

Went here on Tuesday Night craving some good Sushi and this place met my expectations! The fish for the Sushi was good quality but what I really enjoyed was there Teriyaki Chicken, The sauce tasted great and it was a fairly big portion. Would give it 5 stars but the food took a bit long to come out. Overall, I would recommend and will definetly be back for some more SUSHI :) read more

This place definitely brings value to their customers. I did a take out order and it was ready in 10 minutes, no joke! My friend has an apartment literally right next to Ako and she recommended this place. I needed to get take out for my bus ride back to Boston and they delivered. I ordered over the phone with ease and got the Salmon Bento box lunch special. It included a side salad, salmon teriyaki with stir fried veggies, 6 pieces of a California roll, a bowl of miso soup, and rice all for $12! Also it was served in an actually to-go bento box with different compartments. That was what won me over. Also the salmon was made so so well! Really enjoyed my experience here. read more

Phenomenal service and food , very high grade quality fish. Highly recommended if in the area !

Came here with my girl friend. Service was awesome they have a great HH deal until 7 pm including Saturdays. We got three different rolls and they were all amazing - the ocean, volcano (has chicken in it) and spicy girl. Will definitely be back read more

Everything's pretty much great except every time I get maki rolls for delivery and actively select seaweed outside, the rice comes outside. The rice on the outside should not even exist; you realize the seaweed serves the purpose like bread on a sandwich..!? Eating a maki roll with rice on the outside is like eating a sandwich with meat and mayo on the outside. It's inane and not authentic, on top of messy as heck. The rice falls everywhere. I specifically requested not this. Ugh. read more

We ordered a veggi yakisoba and a classic sushi combo (3 rolls). Instead of serving the food to us for some reason the server puts it on the counter (see pic) let's it sit for 15 -20 minutes and then brings it over... the food itself is not very good, it doesn't help that the sushi has been sitting in a warm - room temp day so it tasted off. There's a few sushi places in this area, I'd recommend skipping this place read more

Worst place ever. They first delay your pickup order by 30 minutes and then also mess up the same order by forgetting few items. And then the best part - they make you wait on phone while taking somebody's else's order while you call them to fix it. Worst $60 spent read more

There's a surprising lack of satisfying Japanese food in this area, but Ako is a good standby for sushi. I like to go with their sushi or sashimi dinners but they also have plenty of crazier rolls and entrees. They also do a good bento box deal for lunch if I remember correctly! There's never a wait, indoor and outdoor tables, friendly and fast service, and reasonable prices. And the last few times I went they had a Yelp check in offer for free green tea ice cream, the perfect light dessert after a light sushi dinner! read more

My Charashi is small but taste good. If you came hungry suggest you order something additional. But for light lunch it's good size. Ambiance is medium noise with medium volume American radio music. Ask for tea as they serve water by default. Will come back when in the area and no that hungry. read more

I'm ashamed for not trying this spot sooner. Living in Williamsburg for years I guess I took it for granted that I can stop by whenever. But now during Covid I was looking for a nice outdoor space for a date. They delivered and more. The food was amazing and Sake hit the spot when it got a bit chilly. The garden outdoor seating was cozy and the service was great. I'll add it to my usual Brooklyn rounds. Wish I would've taken pics. Next time. Perfect for a sushi date night. read more

I have been picky in choosing a new sushi spot to try here in NY - not to say that I am a sushi snob, I just wanted to find a no frills sushi with fresh fish at reasonable prices and for some reason that seemed to be a challenge esp in Manhattan. Anyway, I've had Ako bookmarked for awhile and finally had a chance to try it out with two of my friends on a Friday night. It's conveniently right off Bedford Ave. where there's a plethora of dinning and shopping options around. However, when we popped in around 7:30ish we were able to be seated right away. Their menu is extensive from hot/cold appetizers, sushi rolls, sashimi, rice plates, udon, etc. Everything sounded really good so it took us awhile to decide - a good problem to have lol We finally decided on the veggie tempura appetizer, 3 signature rolls (four season, spicy girl and dinosaur) and I also got a side of 2 salmon nigiri pieces. The tempura was a great starter with enough pieces for each of us without getting too full. We loved each of the rolls each with their own distinctive taste and texture - we finished all of them! To top off our meal we were able to get a free scoop of green tea ice cream for checking in woohoo! (But even if you're stuffed I would highly suggest to check out Davey's Ice Cream a couple doors down...we did lol don't judge us). The servers were friendly and always quick to check in on us. The food came out fairly quick also. We were overall very pleased with this place esp with the reasonable price. Even with 2 beers and at least 2 large hot sakes we only paid about $30 each with tip, not mad at that! I will definitely be back when I have a sushi craving again. 4.5 overall! read more

Pretty solid spot. I've ordered delivery from here countless times and have had only a few issues in terms of an incorrect order or extensive delay in delivery time. If you dine in they have a cute little outdoor area in the back that's a nice little surprise. Price-wise they're reasonable (for the area) as well. When I stray from the sushi menu, I'm a fan of their seaweed salad and udon soups. read more
