I love Ako! In truth I have never been to the restaurant itself, but this is my go to spot for Japanese delivery, and it's always so fresh and delicious. I particularly love the Gyoza, The White Tuna and Jalapeno Roll (all of the sushi rolls in general are really good!), and the Udon. read more

Wonderful service, ambience and food. Our server did a great job explaining the menu as well providing us with recommendations. Lovely date night. read more

i love the sushi here, but what i get when i order varies wildly. sometimes irs 2x for each "order" of sashimi, other times its just one piecez but $12.50 for 5 piece of fish on rice is insane, come on ako! read more

We walked in on a Tuesday afternoon on a whim and were truly glad we decided to come here. We ordered their lunch specials: 3 rolls combo (eel and avocado, salmon and avocado) and a bento box with chicken Katsu. When it comes to sushi and raw fish especially - freshness is key and the food here is amazingly Fresh and delicious! Lunch specials also came with miso soup and salad and the prices were very reasonable. Service was prompt and friendly. I can easily make this my daily go to spot for lunch & We'll definitely be back soon to try other items on their menu! read more

Ordered from here on Postmates for lunch due to the great reviews & was very disappointed - extremely small rainbow roll for the price. Rice seemed stale & the fish was one of the lowest quality sushi cuts I've ever had. The mango in the salmon mango roll didn't appear to be fresh either. Very disappointing. read more

Great food great people great spot. I usually get the chicken teriyaki with white rice and it never fails! The Pork goyoza is also a really good appetizer for people first getting into Japanese food. Love this place read more

Great spot! Nothing too crazy but it's a pretty mellow area in the middle of the busiest part of Williamsburg. Not too pricey more walk in quick stop. read more

My favorite sushi spot in Brooklyn! The wait can be long sometimes depending on how busy they are but still worth the wait.

I'd love to point out that at 7.15pm last night, one of your employers was outside smoking a cigarette. That's fine. But flicking the butt out on the street and already adding to street litter? Not cool. The correlation of street litter entering our waterways which will eventually end up in the seafood that you serve seems to be lost on this staff member. She's the Asian lady with highlighted hair. read more

Went for lunch, special on board was regular price, more informational than special. Prices were really good so no complaints here. Had fresh delicious sushi and wine was also priced affordably. They have a beautiful outdoor seating area for days when the weather is good. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Did my Yelp check in and was surprised with the free desert offer. Seriously good green tea ice cream. Definitely going back. read more

I was very very pleased with this place. They have far more innovative Japanese food than most sushi places in the city. It all looked good and it was really hard to pick what to eat off the menu. You have to get the beef negimaki appetizer, which is basically beef and scallions rolled up like they're sushi rolls with delicious sauce on top. So so good. I also got the sashimi ume and it was very good. There were 3 sashimi pieces each for ~7 types of fish. It was a very good selection. I can say that the salmon was by far the best so I would recommend getting just salmon sashimi as well. Service was very attentive and quick. There is a backyard area with a cute patio, and I would recommend eating out there if it's warm out. I will definitely be back to try more items on this menu! read more

The dish was wonderful & we had a great time. Although this place has great options for all diets, they do not have a side of fried rice & when asked for it they said they would not prepare it. Doesn't seem like a hard request when they are preparing Basil Shrimp Fried Rice anyway. read more

Lunch deal was a great deal in an adorable backyard garden setting. The sushi was decent and service was quick but my favorite part was that we were seated in a cute outdoor garden area with umbrellas. I also don't know if I'm used to Manhattan pricing but $12 on the weekend for 3 rolls with soup and salad felt like a steal to me. Would come back if I was in the area for sure. Other people ordered off the regular menu and their rolls looked complex and delicious. read more

This place is the bomb, straight-up. everything was delicious. awesome awesome awesome. SERVICE= A+++ attentive but not annoying she smiled a lot which was made us feel very comfortable, and it was very welcoming. she was friendly and just plain great :) FOOD= YUMMMY! we started off with the "pork and veggie gyoza", FANTASTIC, it was pan-fried lightly, came with a light-soy vinaigrette dipping. I had the "Sashimi Salad" which was EXCELLENT, it came with mesclun mixed greens, fresh salmon and fresh tuna, tossed in a light dressing, can't remember what it was though. My lover had the "Chicken Teriyaki", I knowww, simple and boring but because it was our first-time here, he wanted to stick to something "safe" It was DELICIOUS. The teriyaki sauce was amazing, it was sweet but not overwhelmingly tooo sweet. The chicken breast was grilled then sliced into thin pieces, PERFECTION. The presentation of each dish was eye-catching, a little funky. They placed purple-orchids on the plates which added a little nice touch to it. We ordered iced-green teas with honey, very REFRESHING. We ended our meal, with Mango Sorbet, which he devoured in less than 3 minutes! Not bad for the first time. We love it here, we enjoyed everything about this place from the the food to the service, OUTSTANDING, way better than crowded-ass Juliette down the block. DEAR AKO, you are truly heaven on earth. AHHHH, can't wait to go back. XOXO check them out :) read more

Looking for Sushi in Williamsburg?! Ako is the place to be. Upon entering, the wonderful Chefs greeted us with the warming yet incomprehensible welcome. The Chefs were hard at work, and the server seated us right away. On a freezing cold December afternoon, the hot Miso Soup hit the spot. I ordered the Tuna Love roll and fell in love. Four Words: Spicy Tuna, White Tuna, Avocado, Crunch! It was fantastical. The Dragon Roll roll was pretty standard as it came with an eclectic display of fish and rolls. We also ordered the Green Tea, CA Roll and an Eel Roll. The total came to about 47 dollars. Not bad at all. The customer service was great. In all, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a Sushi joint in Williamsburg. The TUNA LOVE Roll is a MUST! I can't wait to try this place again. read more

This place is nice, cozy and clean inside and also has a cute little outdoor area. I've eaten here a few times and all my dishes were delicious. The servers were all so pleasant to be around as well. The prices are just right and I got a free scoop of green tea ice cream with my last visit (which they gave with a Yelp check in.) The lunch special was great too, 3 sushi rolls; a soup and a salad for $12! Definitely coming back again. read more

First time coming here. My sorority sister & I came here after work since it was close to us we wanted to try something new. This place is really filling we got the sushi & sashimi for 2, Salmon skinned salad and some noodle roll. The roll was kind of tiny so I wasn't really feeling it. But the sushi & sashimi for two was decent there was so much leftover that my soro had to take it home. Overall this place was cute they even had a backyard for you to sit and eat there. The food was decent, just more expensive then usual sushi places. read more

I'd like to thank this place for being the best sushi in the area(we've tried them all). Reliable, fresh, and delicious every single time. On time delivery as well. After probably our 30th beyond satisfied order in a year and a half I felt I had to write a review. So fresh, never fishy. Salmon avocado, sashimi salad, tuna salmon twister roll, miso soup are our go to's. Honestly that salad is so good I sometimes wish I had more of that and less sushi...but then I get to the rolls and am happy I have them too! Reasonably priced as well. Thanks Ako for serving great sushi to Williamsburg. Can't wait to visit in person! read more

Pitiful little amount of fish in my chirashi bowl costing over $20. Felt cheated and unsatisfied. Go for rice rolls but not sashimi. They are cheap w fish. Samurai Mama is fat fat superior in quality and quantity- and they are Japanese not Chinese like these guys at Ako. read more

Ended up at Ako while we were looking for a good sushis place in Williamsburg and we were not disappointed ! I came back from a trip to Japan with high expectations when it comes to sushis, but this place really satisfied my taste. We sat in the very cute garden at the back, ordered sushis plates, and edamame and tempura as starters. Everything was delicious and well accompanied with the good bottle of wine we ordered too (Pinot Grigio). The waitress who took care of us was efficient and very friendly and pleasant. Definitely had a good time there! read more

Delicious! Very fresh, very good sushi at very reasonable prices. My boyfriend had the $11 for 3 rolls lunch special. I had a spicy tuna hand roll, two pieces of salmon sushi, and one piece of surf clam. Turns out I do not like surf clam (I couldn't remember when I ordered it) - but for what it's worth it was plenty fresh, just not my thing. I'm shocked to hear the food poisoning reviews below, because we both left with very happy stomachs. The service was very friendly, though I will say it took a little while to get our food. Still, Ako gets 4 stars for having everything you could ask for from a good sushi place, including "exotic" specials like live sea scallop and urchin. We were not feeling adventurous and so we declined to try - but I liked that the option was there! The decor was also super cute. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the north Williamsburg area. read more

I have to say that i had my doubts at first because it is right on Bedford ave and heart of Hipster nation. Maybe just another place here to try and ride the Williamburg hype perhaps... Well, I always give a place a try. So walked in while waiting for a friend to get off work one evening and decided to order 2 special rolls and a hand roll. To my surprise, the food cameout perfectly and the rolls were crafted with quality. Each pieces sliced to the right size, ratio of Rice/ Seaweed/fish were spot on. I didn't give this place enough credit. Service was good. Server very attentive for a busy spot. Overall whether just casually dining and people watching or having a serious dinner or a sushi craving, this place delivers the punch. Very happy & satisfied sushi lover! read more

Wtf how can this have more stars than Wasabi? This place name says it all (if your Spanish). My fiancee and I use to eat at Wasabi all the time then one day we go in thinking it was Wasabi still, we sit down and slowly start to realize some differences. Paint job lights and the main thing that gave it away *drumroll* the food... We order so MUCH :o thinking it was Wasabi. We were so mad! $60 down the damn drain. read more

I have a bit of a hard time taking a sushi place seriously when they're plating with LED ice cubes, but when I saw that the martini glass holding out maki was bonded to the plate with wasabi paste, I knew that the chefs were men of artsy practicality. Men I'd give a fist bump to, a respectful silght nod. A shot if I saw them at the bar. The roommate, who loves sushi almost as much as I do, and I ordered an opulent number of rolls and sashimi. Our waiter was cheery and accomodating, but lost a little in translation. Still cool though. He was giddy when he told us we got the fresh wasabi - as opposed to the regular pasty stuff. I hope I'd get the fresh stuff all the time. I could eat it straight, which I did. I say gottdam, it's good stuff. All the rolls were good, not too silly and not too simple. The cuts for the fish were all perfectly fresh, especially for a weekday. The only thing I wasn't into, though I appreciate the engineering, were the cuts in the cucumber shot glasses. The uni came like this and I couldn't figure out if I was supposed to slurp it or eat the entire thing. Eating the entire thing was a bad idea because I then realized how good the uni was and how the cucumber took away from it. I really, really like uni and I couldn't do that thing where I smoosh it around in my mouth to savor it. The chefs sent us an mid-meal surprise of some tuna tartare, mild and delicious on top of a fried wonton, or something. But man, the red bean ice cream was the best I've ever had. Or maybe the most divergent from regular red bean ice cream. I couldn't squeeze info out of the staff about the source, just that it was from a Japanese company. Cool place. Decent prices. Great to have it in the neighborhood. read more

So even though I am a Jersey girl, I am currently spending 5 days a week in the BK. So the space that was formerly Wasabi has been reborn as the new sushi joint Ako after a minor renovation. Those who loved the openness of Wasabi and the cozy feel of a neighborhood sushi joint will not be disappointed, Ako maintains that humble elegance. As for the sushi, the flavor combinations, while not radically different, are perfectly balance and expertly executed. There wasn't a single item I ate during my meal there that I didnt think was absolutely delicious. The sweet shrimp sashimi was plump and delicious and the plating was gorgeous (funky glowing martini glasses and beautiful play with sauces on the plate). For now they are BYO but they are planning on doing a nice Sake and Beer list once the powers that be gives them the go ahead. For now, enjoy the excellent hospitality and great sushi with your own bottle of wine any day of the week. read more

Sushi is ok. The size of each sushi is comically large. Larger than what a typical piece of sushi should be. The rice that comes with the sushi falls apart when you pick it up. Imagine picking up a piece and the rice all fall right into your soy sauce... or when a roll falls apart in half. Quality of the sushi is not bad, but technique should be improved. read more

Only ordered for delivery so far (about once a week) and mannn, it's damn good! You really should have a look at their Signature Rolls. First I was like, errrrr, Pink Lady Tempura with Spicy Strawberry Cream (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, jicama, avocado wrapped in soy bean sauce), really?! Strawberry Cream? OMG, what a great idea! They're to die for. The next time I got even more adventurous and tried Tuna Salmon Twister with Spicy Cheery Aioli (crunchy spicy salmon, sweet peanut roll topped with Japanese spice crusted tuna & avocado). Same OMG reaction! The Tempura is nice and crispy and all the dishes we ordered so far were absolutely delicious. read more
