To be honest I've been to Akino elmhurst location more times than I can count and I've witnessed a lot of transition throughout the years. Pre pandemic it was my favorite budget ayce spot. After the pandemic I was a bit disappointed when I felt they skimped on plating and utensils making it feel cheap and low effort, but since then they have brought back a lot more of that aesthetic and vibe I loved all those years ago. Now contrary to that-- Flushing locations a COMPLETELY different vibe. It's brightly lit, spacious, clean aesthetic (both locations are clean sanitary wise) and overall it's a nice spot to meet friends and grab a bite. The fish quality is always fresh, and this past time I went especially it was good. The servers are very attentive, constantly coming by to clean away any plates and trash and asking if we need water or tea refills often. The place was busy but I didn't feel like I was struggling to have conversation an overall I enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately Akino cannot be called a budget ayce anymore as you'll likely spend 45-50 per person if you choose to get drinks with your meal. But still for all the aspects it does offer I'd say it's worth it once in a while. For those new to Akino there's no uni served here but the service and consistent staple options on the menu make Akino a great addition to the neighborhood.

I've never seen such a quick turnaround at an AYCE that comes with good sushi! Their hand rolls were phenomenal; rice and fish portion was really good. They don't overly fill your hand roll or sushi rolls with rice. Waiters/waitresses weee friendly and patient. Definitely returning for when my sushi craving comes again!

Really great spot--I somehow ended up here twice in one week but not a complaint. I immediately noticed how small the rice ratio is for every item. The fish really stands out! Sashimi is thinner cuts which helps me pace myself honestly. The handrolls are packed. When I came back, I was so excited to order more.

Great AYCE Sushi restaurant in Flushing! We have always enjoyed going to the Akino located in Elmhurst, so we were thrilled to find out that they opened up a restaurant in Flushing. This location is a lot bigger, more modern looking, and has much more space than the original location. The quality of the food was just as good, and the price was similar. There are lunch and dinner options. The dinner options also need to be selected on weekends. We usually get the dinner options, but would like to try the lunch option in the future. Great selection with sashimi, nigiri, rolls, as well as hot dishes. We always get the Eel Fried Rice. Their fish is always fresh, and they give you a good amount each time. Definitely recommended!

dined in this time for their all day AYCE. I like that they switch out their monthly specials. Sashimi was super fresh and loved the hot tea refills. Although this spot is more spacious compared to the elmhurst location, the tables do t have much surface area for all the plates to be without stuffing your face quickly so they can take the empty plates. A waitress accidentally spilled the residue sauce all over my jacket and bag when taking an empty plate from our table but was apology and helped me clean it off. Overall a great spot for fresh sushi/fish if you're in the area.

Light brown and white decor all around with plenty of seatings. There are stairs leading up to the dining area with no wheelchair accessibility/ baby carriage. Service (especially when it comes to allergens) could be more attentive even if it is self-ordering via iPad. If you are choosing lunch AYCE ($31/person), sashimi is automatically taken off the menu to order. You will have to pay dinner AYCE price (+$15/person) to enjoy sashimi selections. Appetizers are single serving only which allows you to try other items on the menu. The food is not fresh, but they partnered up with a yogurt 3rd party and it was delicious. Tables are so close to each other that you can barely have your 1:1 conversations. Bathroom is accessible.

All you can eat sushi right on 39th Ave, right in the middle of everything. It's hard not to be tempted to try this out. When I was doing my research, it looked like the early reviews they were trying to get their footing so we figured it was enough fine to give them a shot with their most recent reviews very good. Ordering on the iPad is easy and Monday-Thursday, AYCE is $42. This doesn't include your drink, but their drink selection looked very yummy so we indulged. One lychee rose, and another mango passion fruit. We did a little of everything after and everything hit! From shumai to their signature rolls, we really did a good job. The yellowtail jalapeño is always a fav and it was delicious here too! They end with ice cream but we had other ideas for dessert. It was bright and modern with a clean feel to it. Tables were spread enough apart so we felt like we had our own privacy. Everything came out quick and we were stuffed before we knew it. The only thing that threw me were the packets of wasabi with a little container of ginger. Doesn't mean it's the best quality in my history but this got the job done. I would come back for sure.

Service was quick from ordering dishes to removing plates & refills of beverages. Food here is delicious, fresh & made to order. Ambiance is nice & clean. They do have a cash & credit card pricing. Only downfall, 2 bathroom stalls neutral gender. Second time I've been here & I'll definitely be back for the third!!

Akino is my favorite AYCE sushi place! I first went to their original location Elmhurst years back but haven't heard been in the past few years. But craving sushi recently, I decide to get their much newer Flushing location a try. It's definitely a bigger location here! I spent most times eating their special rolls - my favorites included the Akino roll, moonstruck, and black dragon rolls!

Great AYCE sushi place! Restaurant was clean and the service was efficient. Because they are so busy, we did feel a little bit rushed from the staff constantly asking us if we wanted to order another round or if we were done with our meal. The seafood was fresh and they have perfected the ratio between the rice and everything else. Their shrimp tempura roll is pretty fresh didn't taste like the bready, made-from-frozen shrimp tempura. Overall it's a great place for a meal, unless there's a 90 minute wait, then it's probably not worth it.

Cuisine: 5 Service: 8 Decor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 6 Let me start off by admitting that I am a sushi snob, therefore my review of this restaurant may not reflect the masses. Looking at the crowd last night, most of their customers were in their 20s and 30s, so I'm not their target audience anyway. Honestly, walking into this location feels a lot more brighter and spacious than the original Elmhurst branch. Service was quite excellent with around a dozen servers walking around on a random Monday night. Food arrived quickly but not overwhelming. The hostess even came to check on us during our meal twice. Unfortunately, I just can't give the food a high rating. Our first batch of sashimi came warm, while the second batch was icy. Sushi rice was somewhat cold and hard. Carpaccio offerings were overall average. Hand rolls had chopped fish that was too mushy and rice falling apart. At least everything felt fresh. For the cooked foods, most of the tempura had too much breading, except for the kani. The grilled beef and salmon were all overcooked. Everything else was okay but mostly fillers. Hate to admit it, the but the edamame is something I would never order, but my friend did, and it was the best item of the night. For the price, I rather go to a good reasonably priced sushi shop and order a chirashi or a plate of higher quality sushi/sashimi. What I'll say is that this place does make a lot of sense for people who want quantity over quality, as well as families on a budget.

Usually go to the Elmhurst location, decided to try out their new location. Made a resy, make sure to make one because they get packed quickly. For AYCE, the quality of sushi is pretty good. My favorite had to be the dragon roll. You order on the iPad at this location, no pencil & paper so it keeps track well. Follow them on social media platforms and show your waiter / waitress, you will get a free ice cream.

I am happy to see Akino expanding from their Elmhurst roots since they are one of the better AYCE sushi options in Queens. The new space lighter and brighter than the Elmhurst (after all it is shiny new). Its a fairly large space with a large sushi bar with a cadre of chefs pumping out platter upon platter of Sushi and Sashimi for hungry patrons. I came in for their weekday lunch that offers a less expensive price over their dinner, but doesn't include sashimi. Regardless lunch is still a good deal. Their sushi pieces aren't overly riced - in fact it usually is the bare minimum of rice. The fish quality is generally good - I find it better than most AYCE options. I will tell you I had the best handroll of my life during that lunch. I am still thinking about how good it tasted. It was a simple shrimp tempura with avocado handroll - the seaweed wrap was toasty and crisp, there was a nice fan of fresh avocado with fresh tempura shrimp. Feels funny praising a simple handroll, but here we are. For ~$30 for a weekday AYCE lunch Akino is a very good deal. The dinner on the weekend (same price all day) is close to $50, but you get sashimi and other choices. Either way, Akino is solid.

We are very familiar with the area and must have walked passed this neatly tucked away gem without ever noticing it. Our son had mentioned that he and his friends have been going to a sushi place near Asian Jewel, our former dim sum go to place. When we sat down to order, my wife and I were quite impressed by how clean and cozy the restaurant was. Kind of on the small side with a few tables on the ground floor level. The menu offered cooked food as well as fresh sushi. We decided to start with the sushi & sashimi combo. They also offered a sushi or sashimi a la carte menu where you can choose to order by the piece. I believe that if you choose one of their standard menu sushi or sashimi orders and pay with cash, the a la carte price per piece of sushi / sashimi is only $1.35 / piece! Well we were famished and in addition to the sushi & sashimi plate we ordered two rounds of sushi & sashimi a la carte. Their salmon and yellow tail was so fresh and so scrumptious as was the sweet shrimp. The tuna was also very yummy and did not disappoint! When all was said and done we were quite happy with our experience with Yoi Sushi Japanese. I highly recommend Yoi if you're anywhere near Tangram Mall or Asian Jewel and have a hankering for yummy sushi. They also offer cooked food as well as ramen bowls.

The shrimp tempura roll has the perfect amount of breading and the salmon tastes fresh! The interior is clean and I love the decor. I believe they have an upstairs seating area too. The hot pot itself I think was average but the real standout for me was the appetizers. Seating in a booth tucked away in a corner on the first floor was a bit awkward to navigate. The sauce station downstairs was not well maintained and several items were out of stock, but that may have been because it was around 9PM. Second floor seating and sauce station are better. Food 4.5/5: Main complaint is that their menu is really confusing, despite this being my second visit. There are 4 pricing tiers. Everyone in a party has to choose the same one, so it can get pricey fast. Higher tiers include seafood and more premium wagyu cuts. You still get unlimited wagyu in the lowest tier but seafood is not included. I think this setup is fine because premium seafood items like lobster and crab tend to clutter the pot and are difficult to deshell while hot but also taste worse after cooled. Although the premium wagyu cuts do taste richer and "melt in your mouth," most of the fat is renders into the broth. Therefore, I don't think hot pot is the best way to enjoy wagyu, so the higher tiers didn't feel worth the price. The best part of the meal was definitely the appetizers and specialty dishes. The wagyu bone marrow was amazing and a must-try but only available to the second tier or up. Ambiance 3.5/5: I think being tucked away in a corner booth made the experience less enjoyable. The table was small for a party of 6, so we constantly had to rearrange dishes whenever new food arrived. It was inconvenient that everyone had to get up whenever I needed to refill my drink or sauce. Service 4/5: The first floor sauce station wasn't restocked throughout our stay so options were limited. Otherwise no real complaints regarding service to our table.
