I saw tons of great reviews for Izakaya Nana, so my friends and I decided to check it out. We didn't have a reservation and were quoted a 35 minute wait, but ended up being seated in under 10 minutes around 9 PM. PSA: after 10 PM, I believe sake and oysters are buy one get one free! Here's everything we ordered: Yakitori platter - 7 assorted skewers. Solid. The pork belly being the standout for me. Fried soft shell crab - tasted good, but it seemed like only half a crab instead of a full one, which was a bit disappointing. Karaage chicken - nicely fried and paired with a mayo based sauce, but the chicken was dry. Sashimi platter - fresh and well presented. No complaints here. Mentaiko cream udon - just OK. Not as creamy as expected and a bit bland. The dish didn't really stand out. Impossible Unadon - definitely worth it! Grilled eel with tamago over rice, generous portion. Tornado omelette fried rice - the egg was slightly overcooked so it lacked that creamy texture, but the fried rice and curry had great flavor. Overall, the food was good but not exceptional. I've had better, but it's still worth trying.

The decor its self is what got me to come out to flushing. I will say the staff is impatient a bit but I ignored them. What matters to me is the food. The food was fresh and hot! I was alittle taken back by the menu but I found something I would enjoy. The shrimp tempura was good, the Thai chili wings were good had a strong kick at the end surprisingly. Everyone enjoyed their food. The steak was tender the rice was soft. The pork dumplings were good. My son got sashimi and he loved it. The spicy miso soup was delicious too. I will definitely be back. For five people the bill came out to $236. We got a lot of food so it was reasonably priced.

Took my sons to Izakaya Nana in Flushing... and somehow we stepped into Japan without paying for a plane ticket. Private wooden rooms, traditional vibes, and suddenly I'm sitting there like a samurai... except holding a Diet Coke and Sapporo. Real warrior energy. Started strong with California rolls and salmon rolls -- clean, fresh, no nonsense. Then the Spicy BBQ Karaage Chicken showed up... and my sons turned into silent ninjas. Nobody talks when the food is that good. Pork Katsu Curry? Crispy, flavorful, and disappeared faster than my paycheck after grocery shopping. Then the boys ordered jumbo lump crab... and suddenly they're food critics. "Dad, this is phenomenal." I raised them right. Finished with Toro Ikura Don -- toro sashimi, ikura, rice... pure perfection. At this point I wasn't leaving... I was considering asking for a lease. Great food. Amazing ambiance. Solid father-son mission accomplished. Step into Japan... leave with zero leftovers. Izakaya Nana 141-28 Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY Highly recommend. I'm definitely coming back... and next time I'm ordering first.

I absolutely loved this place! The environment felt really cozy and the service was amazing. I was able to try their truffle fries and happy hour drinks including the Lychee Martinis and they were delicious. Great deals and for something sweet, they provide Vanilla ice cream!

Very cool spot! In the front you can rent a kimono and there's a small shop along with a few arcade options. The decor and aesthetic is top notch, it's really beautiful and the booths/tables give you privacy. They have amazing music that matches the vibe and quality service. Patrons are handed a wet wipe for hands before and after, they open it for you and immediately take the wrappers away. I like the oyster fries and my mentaiko cream udon was pretty good. Only reason for the 4 star is because I wish the menu items were more unique. The food is good so i'm sure they'd be able to nail new offerings.

First and foremost the parking situation is so terrible in this area they even have signs outside some of the parking lots saying that the lot is not for patrons of Izakaya Nana. Especially with a lot of snow taking away parking on the street; please plan to spend a lot of time looking for parking if you don't want to pay for the parking garages. Every item we had was a 10/10, absolutely would come back and try more items. My coworker and I could not stop raving about the food. Delicious all around. Customer service was good, nothing above and beyond. This place is extremely aesthetically pleasing, you just have to see it in person. I love the privacy you have in the booths. There's a call button inside if you need assistance which is great. There's something off with the water in the bathroom sink. It goes from normal to boiling hot in a matter of seconds and stays hot no matter what direction you move it.

This izakaya spot in Flushing is a great place for late-night eats and drinking with friends! They have some solid BOGO deals for drinks in the evening and a wide selection of food. Service here is nice and pretty quick. The interior is also very decorated and I love how they have different private booths with anime themes for you to dine in. We got their spicy dumplings, takoyaki, yakitori platter, sashimi platter, and truffle fries. Everything was pretty good but the yakitori platter stood out the most. Their takoyaki was also pretty solid as they filled it with octopus. As we came late at night, they had a BOGO hot sake option, which we definitely took advantage of.

Found the place by searing for "places To eat in flushing NY" on TikTok, if you want a unique experience, this place definitely delivered. No reservation, only available seating open was bar seats - that we enjoyed. Food was fresh and seasoned tasty but salty, like food I had in Japan. Very friendly Bar tender took our order, brought hot sake, took care of us and servers brought us our good portion 3-orders, TV with anime entertained us. A definite recommendation for return visits to try more dishes and seat in other locations.

Vibe and staff were awesome! But in terms of food, it seems to be a hit or miss and there will be some items I'd order over the others. This time around we ordered the oden soup. It was lukewarm and not hot so you know it's been sitting there for a while. You also kind of smell the cleaning agent on the bowl and spoon which kind of made the soup unappetizing. Ordered the crispy sweet chili wings, they were good but a bit too much sauce and it was sweet with a kick of spice, felt like the sauce wasn't that balanced out. Got the kaarage chicken as well and it seemed like it just had a lot of batter, so wouldn't really order these again. Also got the lobster potato balls and it tasted more like potatos than any lobsters inside so that was a bit disappointing as well. What we did enjoy eating were the mentaiko cream udon and tomato omelet fried rice. The cream was good and the curry was good. Ordered the omelet fried rice over the katsu curry this time because last time we ordered the katsu, the katsu was small for what you're paying.

Fun place. Fun menu. Nice and tucked away from the hustle and bustle in Flushing. We asked for a table towards the back of the dining room, but we were sat in the front, where the chill from outside never quite went away. Definitely recommend, there's something on the menu for everyone. And the dining room adornments are certainly intentional.

Cuisine: 7 Service: 8 Decor: 9 Value: 6 Overall: 7 This is one of the prettiest restaurants in Queens. They did a wonderful job with the interior design. It has a beautiful main dining room, but also lots of cute private rooms too. The food is above average, nothing amazing, but a meal here is always a feast for the eyes. Due to its decor and friendly service (Ben is a great bartender), I have been here many times for meals, snacks, or drinks with friends. I have tried much of the menu, and I would say everything is decent to good. Prices are slightly high, but not horrible. They call Monday through Thursday 5:00pm to 1:00am their Golden Hour. Lots of good deals on food and drinks. From 10:00pm to 1:00am everyday, they also offer BOGO on draft beers, house sake, and oysters. Check them out.

Came here for lunch. Our relatives were visiting from out of state. They were craving japanese food. Online we tried to reserve but there were no available reservations for 2pm on a Sunday. We decided to walk in anyways around 2pm. Restaurant was pretty empty about 3 other tables besides ours. Not sure why we couldn't reserve online. We ordered: Sunagimo (Chicken Gizzard) Pork Katsu Curry Tuna Trio Roll (6) Gyu Harami-beef Skirt Butabara-pork Belly Grilled Eel Baby Scallop A5 Wagyu Golden Fried Rice Cha Han Grilled Miso Marinated black Cod Truffle Fries Takoyaki (5) Crispy Sweet Chili Wings Mentaiko Cream Udon Shrimp Ebi Tempura Taiyaki (Red Bean) Ghe black cod was perfectly cooked, A5 wagyu fried rice was very tasty and peppery. Truffle fries were solid. Scallop was okay, probably would not get again. Overall: food was very solid here, a bit pricy but not too bad. Ambience was very nice. Our table was below floor level. Highly recommend if you want to take friends or family for a casual hangout.

Everything was top notch. I came here with a friend tonight. I wanted to try this spot for months. The photos do not do this place justice, I'm telling you the inside is breathtaking. I was stunned by the decor. Mind you we didn't even see the private themed rooms and we were blown away by the detail of the interior design. Really nice! The food was even better. We had the karaage chicken, truffle fries and dancing girl roll to share. The best part of the whole meal was the sushi. Really yummy and fresh. A good size for sharing. I had that tonkatsu ramen which was flavorful and had two perfect jammy eggs. My friend had the omelette rice which she liked. I also had the strawberry sake mojito which was refreshing. The service was impeccable, they even lent me a charger. I like the call button feature. I highly, highly recommend this spot and I'm so happy I got to try it finally!

    Do they have parking?

No parking. So come early to scout for a spot. Took us awhile to finally find a spot and it was 2 blocks away.

Do you have Non-Alcoholic Beer options, or mock tails?

Yes for mocktails. You can get a free one with a Yelp check-in. This was true when I went back in Nov '23.

    Do you take american express?

    Yes they do

Do we have to pay for the private room and if so how much?

No, you don't need. But recommend to make a reservation for it

Is there a happy hour from what time?

    From 10pm to 1AM

    Is reservation optional or must?

Not a must, but highly recommended or you will have to wait a while.

    Do the restaurant have parking?

No it doesn't. Street parking at best and you need to watch the times posted as when you can or can not park. There is a small private parking lot in the block east of the restaurant entrance but there is no affiliation. Do not try and park in… Read more

We are very familiar with the area and must have walked passed this neatly tucked away gem without ever noticing it. Our son had mentioned that he and his friends have been going to a sushi place near Asian Jewel, our former dim sum go to place. When we sat down to order, my wife and I were quite impressed by how clean and cozy the restaurant was. Kind of on the small side with a few tables on the ground floor level. The menu offered cooked food as well as fresh sushi. We decided to start with the sushi & sashimi combo. They also offered a sushi or sashimi a la carte menu where you can choose to order by the piece. I believe that if you choose one of their standard menu sushi or sashimi orders and pay with cash, the a la carte price per piece of sushi / sashimi is only $1.35 / piece! Well we were famished and in addition to the sushi & sashimi plate we ordered two rounds of sushi & sashimi a la carte. Their salmon and yellow tail was so fresh and so scrumptious as was the sweet shrimp. The tuna was also very yummy and did not disappoint! When all was said and done we were quite happy with our experience with Yoi Sushi Japanese. I highly recommend Yoi if you're anywhere near Tangram Mall or Asian Jewel and have a hankering for yummy sushi. They also offer cooked food as well as ramen bowls.

Even before the food arrives, the restaurant leaves a strong impression with its stunning Japanese-inspired interior. The space is beautifully designed, blending warmth and elegance in a way that feels both inviting and refined. From the soft lighting to the natural wood accents and thoughtfully arranged decor, everything about the atmosphere feels intentional. It captures the intimate charm of a traditional izakaya while still feeling modern and stylish, making it a wonderful setting for anything from a casual dinner to a more special night out. The food more than lived up to the beauty of the space. One of the first highlights was the salmon onigiri, a dish that proved how satisfying simplicity can be when it is done well. The rice was soft, fresh, and perfectly formed, holding together without feeling too compact, while the salmon added a savory richness that made each bite feel comforting and flavorful. It was balanced, delicate, and deeply satisfying in a way that made it memorable despite its simplicity. The seared salmon salad was another standout. The salmon itself was beautifully prepared, with a lightly seared exterior that gave it a subtle crispness, while the inside remained tender, buttery, and smooth. That contrast in texture made the dish especially enjoyable. Paired with the freshness of the salad, it felt light and refreshing, yet still substantial enough to feel like more than just a side dish. It was a dish that managed to feel both clean and indulgent at the same time. The grilled squid was particularly impressive and easily one of the most memorable items of the meal. Squid can often be difficult to get right, as it can become rubbery or overly chewy if even slightly overcooked, but that was absolutely not the case here. The texture was spectacular--tender, delicate, and pleasantly springy without any toughness. Each bite had a light smokiness from the grill that added depth, while the squid itself retained its natural sweetness. It was expertly prepared and showcased a level of precision that really stood out. For the main courses, both the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Black Pepper Ramen delivered distinct experiences, each with its own appeal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a broth that had a rich, velvety texture and a full-bodied depth that coated the palate beautifully. It felt smooth, hearty, and luxurious without being too heavy. The noodles had an ideal texture as well--firm enough to provide a satisfying bite, yet soft enough to soak up the broth and integrate perfectly into the dish. Altogether, it was a bowl that felt warming, balanced, and incredibly comforting. The Black Pepper Ramen, on the other hand, brought a bolder and more assertive flavor profile. The broth had a smooth, glossy texture, and the noodles again had a pleasing chew that gave the dish structure and substance. The black pepper added an unmistakable warmth and aromatic intensity that made the ramen stand out immediately. It was flavorful and memorable, though the pepper was slightly overwhelming at times. A bit less black pepper would have allowed the other flavors in the broth to come through more clearly and created a more balanced bowl. Even so, the ramen was still enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate strong, pepper-forward flavors. Overall, Izakaya Fuku is a restaurant that succeeds on every level. The stunning Japanese interior creates an atmosphere that feels both immersive and elegant, while the food reflects a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. From the comforting salmon onigiri, to the fresh and beautifully prepared seared salmon salad, to the expertly grilled squid with its exceptional texture, and finally the rich and satisfying ramen dishes, every part of the meal felt carefully executed. It is a place that offers not just excellent food, but a complete dining experience, and it is well worth visiting for anyone looking for standout Japanese cuisine in New York.

(source: Google AI) Lunch before a medical appointment in the Forest Hills, Queens, NYC vicinity summons Japanese cuisine. Business was relatively quiet and rather empty on a Tuesday early afternoon for lunch as there were only two people and I subsequently became the third patron. There was no wait for a table and - finally my luck turned around with no wait to be serviced and no negative body language projected against me as a single lady dinning alone! I was finally seen, heard, and acknowledged as I am one life in the smallest measurement. Customer service is, indeed, as described by Yelpers to be attentive, efficient with order fulfillment and polite with reverence by good measures. I did receive a printed sales receipt to retain. I did leave a 20% gratuity for this male server who did served me well. Restroom facilities are relatively clean with a contemporary modern sink. There are Sakura cherry blossom branches that fills the ceiling for decorum. There are QR scan code laminated to the table at the corner to order. I am old school and highly prefer printed paper menus interacting with a human with a waiter for ordering. Disposable bamboo chopsticks and Renge 蓮華 or Chirirenge 散蓮華 in Japanese and Tangchi 湯匙 or Tiaogeng 調羹 in Chinese for spoons are distributed as utensils. This casual Japanese pub is located in Forest Hills' main shopping district on Austin Street. It is very accessible via E, F, R and M trains at MTA NYC Transit Forest Hills -72nd Continental Avenue subway station. I do not see any business cards nor takeout menu for grabs. Four stars? The menu was average and did not really entice my interest. I was hoping to see Matcha ice cream. Tonkotsu soup Ramen noodles, $17.99 豬骨拉麵 Served with kikurage, menma, half brown soft boiled egg, scallions, pork Chashu, and fishcake. Pork chashu チャーシュー, a Japanese dish of braised fatty pork belly. It was served in a standard Melamine ramen bowl, but not piping hot with steam visibly emitted as I desired. This Ramen noodle entrée includes one side salad with ginger dressing. The salad was average. The ginger dressing was also average served separately, but rather insufficient in quantity. Oh! I wanted slightly more salad dressing, but not the entire restaurant's stock like SNL's "Lisa From Temecula." The noodles are the main protagonist in this entrée as I wholesomely enjoyed. Asian noodle soup is always comfort food during tumultuous times. All other ingredients were a delight, fresh and served middling warm, but neither hot or piping hot. The pork belly was average. The brown half soft boiled egg was okay, but I prefer white eggs. The soup base broth is Tonkotsu for pork bones and it is not spicy nor salty. The Tonkotsu soup broth was average. Wafuu Izakaya includes a side salad with this entrée which most Japanese restaurants charge the salad a separate fee and distinguishes from competitors. Hot Matcha green tea was served which I am grateful. Matcha green tea (either hot or cold) is one of my favorite default. This noodle soup and salad certainly eat my fill.
