    Happy Hour Sushi
    Tyler H.

Was waiting for my car to be serviced and popped in here just to check it out. Was pleasantly surprised. It was 3PM on a Wednesday, so we were the only ones. Sat at the bar and was happy to see that happy hour starts at 3. Cheap drinks and a heck of a deal on sushi. Got some sips and bites in. If I lived up in this area, I'd definitely be coming back.

Bento boxes and chicken sushi roll.

This was our second visit (12/20/24), previous visit was a couple months ago for lunch. We were very impressed with the food and chose to take our adult son for a nice dinner tonight. Me and my son ordered a chicken sushi roll and tempura shrimp for appetizer, Bento boxes for dinner. My husband opted for the all you can eat menu. The waitress was a little "snappy" when she advised my husband his food could not be taken as leftovers or shared. We were aware of this, as that's what he did on his lunch visit as well. Even though she was a bit harsh we kinda let the attitude roll off our back. She was pleasant after realizing her words were kinda rude. She apologized and told us we wouldn't believe how many people get mad at her claiming she never told them. We ate as much of the food as we could and both my son and I had leftovers. My husband cleaned all his little plates. I packaged my chicken, rice, spring roll, and crab puff (all included in the bento box) up for my son to enjoy as leftovers. We were waiting for the ticket when a lady walked up to the table and said something that did not process in my brain, so I asked if she would repeat, she pointed at my box and said I couldn't take the shrimp... I was lost and opened my box to see what shrimp she was asking about. My son had eaten all his tempura shrimp so I was sure I didn't have any. I HATE SEAFOOD! Shrimp would be the last thing I would pack up in a to go box. I however was not grasping she was accusing me of taking my husbands shrimp! As soon as I figured out she was saying I was stealing leftovers I lost it! I asked if she was insinuating I would pay $100 for food and steal from the 4 small shrimp my husband was served. He had cleaned his plates. He ate the 4 little shrimp! She insisted even after checking my container that I stole SHRIMP! I tossed my to go on the table and told her she could keep the leftovers and throw them away. I was embarrassed in front of my husband and child over what cost the establishment maybe $3. They were also willing to lose customers over that same $3. The best part is, the waitress came up to me in the entry way and asked what was said to upset me. I pointed out the lady had accused me of stealing shrimp...She started apologizing on behalf of the OWNER! The lady was the freaking owner!!! She didn't come to the table to see how our meal was, see if our service was good. She came over to accuse me of stealing shrimp that was destin for the trash! My advise to the owner is if you can't figure out a way to handle situations like this, don't offer the freaking service! She could have easily taken our waitress to the side and asked about his order. The situation was embarrassing and handled completely unprofessionally!

Being city dwellers, we were pleasantly surprised by a few factors here. Foremost, the lunch specials are valid on Saturday, nice. But the price of getting a hibachi table top cooked meal for $10. Is an unbelievable deal, and that includes soup, fried rice, and salad. We ended up here after we saw the low ratings at Benihana. The only reason that this is a four star rather than a five star, is that the water and the iced tea had a very strange taste. Our chef was superb. Another bonus is that they allowed us to bring in our own cake, and they even served it to us.

I was in the area for a track meet and decided to grab lunch. So far I haven't felt sick and my bowels are stable. Great sushi and reasonable price!

We got the all you can eat lunch. The food isn't the same with the new ownership. Not even close!! Be very warned that if you leave any food left on your plate they charge you a penalty!! The penalty charge was $10

Very nice lunch serving with the bento box. We had the grilled salmon and it was very filling and a great cost! We recommend this restaurant; you will not be disappointed.

My favorite local sushi. If you come for sushi ask for the spicy posnzo sauce to dip your sushi in. You'll thank me later. Your welcome :)

Sushi here is so fresh - prefer this hidden gem over big chains or the sushi restaurants in The Woodlands. Same friendly staff every time.

When we arrived for dinner there were several diners, but it wasn't overly crowded. Plus, it was happy hour...perfect timing. Our waitress was very helpful with helping us decide. We finally decided on the baked mussels and fried calamari from the happy hour menu. Our main course was the deluxe platter. Absolutely amazing. Some of the pieces on the platter are chosen by the chef. The platter consisted of salmon, yellowtail, tuna, sea bream, and red snapper -- the sea bream took the show! Very robust flavor! The red snapper, a close second. Everything was so good. Very fresh selection. Can't wait to visit again.

As we exited, the hostess was focused on her phone and completely ignored us--even after we initially said, "Thank you." It wasn't until we said "Thank you" a second time that she finally acknowledged us. A hostess is often both the first and last impression of a restaurant, and guests should not have to repeat themselves simply to receive basic courtesy. Hospitality extends beyond seating guests--it includes making them feel welcomed and appreciated from arrival to departure. Unfortunately, that standard was missing here.

The Maki lunch special comes with 2 rolls, soup and salad. The soups and salad were a generous side, definitely more than you'd would get with a bento box. The salad was fresh and had the usual creamy ginger Japanese dressing, delish. For the maki bowls, they were a nice size, and are actually the normal sized rolls you would get from the menu for a spicy salmon and eel roll. I thought for price would be simple hand rolls with just fish and rice and wrapper, but these had cucumber or avocado, sauces and nicely filled. Deliscious eel, spicy salmon had a surprisingly different delicious flavor to it and nice kick. For the spicy miso ramen, it's actually their original tonkotsu with miso and spiciness mixed in. The waitress recommended as the best flavor and although I haven't tried any of their others, it did have nice flavor. Creamy, with layers of flavor and a nice mouth feel that coated your tongue with umami. I am a spicy fanatic, so for me wasn't very spicy, but with chili oil available on the table I could increase the spicy profile. The nice thing here is the ramen toppings aren't all extra so a great deal. Came with chashu, 2 pieces, one on top had been fried with an excellent char and crunchiness to it, especially since the crunchy garlic was on top. Also for toppings were corn, bamboo shoots, nori, rice cakes, and half a boiled egg so no nickel and dime for toppings here . Fast and attentive service so if trying to get in and out on your lunch break, no problem. Quaint, small venue in shopping strip. Quiet though so nice to have conversation with your lunch date. I would recommend and definitely go again

I forgot the menu names of some but the fried tofu was fantastic, the angry snapper was darned near perfection. The salmon app thingy was so good. My wife thought there was some spice to it, but I didn't detect it. Kimchi Brussel sprouts were very unique and very good. I have to use corporate speak for this because I don't want to detract from the dining experience, but ambience is loud. I don't know how you correct that. A lot of reviews have said Sushi Rebel is "romantic". I don't know what planet you're from or what time of day you are, but it's anything but. The place is full of Exxon and HP employees. That's not at all a bad thing, but it isn't romantic when adjacent tables of friends are talking about meetings and projects. If you DO work at a nearby business, it's a great place for dinner after work. Service could use some work. It was our anniversary. We noted it on the reservation and the confirmation. We weren't greeted as such nor was it ever acknowledged. I was looking for free dessert or anything, but some acknowledgment would make it nice. The server forgot our tea with dessert and one of the rolls that that was part of dinner. So, really nice place, but loud and not romantic. That being said, I'd still return.
