Very good service, good sushi, good rolls, good environment. Was surprised how nice it was when I walked in and then the server was on top of everything. I eat a lot of sushi so I'm picky when it comes to sushi places. I'll definitely go back here and the manager noticed how much sushi I was getting so he sent over a free bottle of saki. The cook was nice and food was good. What I didn't like was the bus lady who had her diners in the salad when brought to me. She took another person's bowl of rice off of his plate with her bare hands over his rice and set it to the side, he looked so stunned that she did that. She did not do very much so my tip was for the cook , not her. SHE THEN RAN OUTSIDE with my check in her hands telling me I forgot to tip her. No I didn't, she barely did anything, hands all in people's food and cups. She's so unsanitary and I'm sorry but she was nasty to me. She was a short Older Asian lady, with short hair. Beware of her. I will never go back bc of her. No one should ever chase someone down to their car about a tip especially when you did nothing. Nobody is obligated to tip especially when you did nothing! Pretty good sushi + 1 star for the fact that they will take shrimp or crab out of any item if you ask. A lot of sushi restaurants don't want to customize, which is okay and understandable. Someone in my party was allergic to shellfish and that was really nice. The people that work there are very friendly and the rolls come out very quick.. the more unique items are the lollipop and the nachos and the roll that has both fish and beef. It's a little pricier than other places but good for the area. My preference for a 15 minute drive would be Bluefish or Fukuda or Rakuu. Haven't tried hibachi, maybe that's better. Stole my food and was rude about it! I will never eat there again! The manager/ owner Ty yelled at me when his server gave my food to another customer. When I told him to never treat me me like that again, he walked back into the kitchen. Later he approached me while I was sitting down eating my half meal at the table, angrily told me his name is Ty, and refused to give his last name. I never did get all of my food. This man is the actual owner, and I was told by one of his workers this is how he treats people all of the time at this restaurant. He's not friendly he's nasty and he does not make things right when he does things wrong. There is such a thing called service recovery. It is not practiced at this restaurant. Experimenting with the sushi places nearby, the gps took us here. It was pretty empty when we arrived for lunch. We chose to sit at the sushi bar because we wanted to watch the game on the tv. It was pretty quiet and the sushi chefs were working diligently. Our server was attentive.. kind of hard not to be because she only had 2 tables. AKAIHI HANA MAKI- tuna, salmon, yellowtail, escolar, crab, avocado, asparagus, cucumber, gobo, tamago, and masago with spicy mayo and wasabi sauce This sushi was packed with so much, but it lacked freshness and flavor. There was so much going on that it was hard to focus on any one flavor. Sometimes simple is just better, it gives you time to appreciate the flavors. Before you could even taste one fish fully, another flavor would pop into your palate. It was just too much. ATSU ATSU- pepper tuna and jalapeno topped with spicy tuna and snow crab This roll was very dry and didn't taste fresh at all. The pepper tuna had a really fishy taste and the crabs didn't even taste like real crabs. The sauce didn't add any flavor. This roll wasn't good in any way or form. I didn't like it at all. SPICY SALMON HANDROLL This was a very simple handroll. Thank goodness they didn't screw it up or they should really close shop. The salmon was good, but I didn't taste any heat at all. SPIDER HANDROLL This roll was so dry. There was no sauce whatsoever. It was just soft shell crab, cucumber, and avocado. The sushi rice could've used more vinegar because it was super dry too. GYOZA- pan fried japanese dumplings These gyozas took forever to come out. We were in the middle of eating all our sushi and our appetizer comes out. The timing was just off. This dish was very simple and it tasted like it too. There was nothing special about these dumplings. They didn't taste fresh. It was like they bought it from frozen aisle at the store and just fried it. BEEF TATAKI- thin-sliced rare angus steak seared with ponzu sauce The beef didn't taste fresh. It had this weird smell to it and the ponzu sauce was way too citrus-y. The beef just didn't mix well with the tartness of the ponzu sauce. I took one bite and that was it. SPICY CHOPPED SCALLOP SUSHI The chopped scallop weren't too bad. It was a bit cold, but the flavors were there and it wasn't fishy. There was a nice amount of heat to it. Because of establishments like these, I feel reluctant to try new places. I've wasted an empty stomach eating here, but at least I know and won't be passing by and wondering if this place is good or not. You gotta go out of your comfort zone every now and then. You won't always be rewarded, but at least you'll get a good lesson. I would give 2 stars, but I'm rating it 1 star due to the price. It's definitely not worth it! I could go into a fine dining sushi restaurant and get a completely upgraded, fresh sushi roll for the same price or even a little cheaper. What justifies the price? No idea~ read more

I've ordered from this place several times and each time they have given me the wrong order. The manger has drove to my house twice trying to correct the mistake. I ordered again today and the same thing happened again I ordered 2 bento boxes that cost $17 each and they where wrong again. Took my tweenager here after school on a whim -- so glad we went! The "happy hour" pricing on sushi and other appetizers allowed us to indulge ourselves. I can't ever recall tasting anything so FRESH and DELICIOUS as the escolar and the peppered tuna sushi. Even the gyoza dumplings were remarkable -- most restaurants seem to rely on the dipping sauce for the flavor, but Akaihi adds something special to their pork filling. I'll ask next time we go. My daughter became an instant fan when her teriyaki chicken bento box hit the table. Generous portions of beautifully glazed chicken, rice, tempura veggies, California roll... plus two tempura shrimp, a spring roll, a crab puff... AND a starter salad and soup... for just $13. That soup was not the everyday watery miso number, either -- it had steak, onion and potato in a light beef broth. The service was excellent, too. In fact, when I found the manager and told him how delighted we were with the whole experience, I'm pretty sure he was fighting back tears of happiness (which made me get a little emotional myself). This is my wife and I go to place. Really love coming here. We have become regulars and most the wait staff are familiar with us. The environment is a nice, somewhat dim, comfortable setting. Lunch menu is a STEAL if you like hibachi. really affordable hibachi during lunch hours. The happy hour is still pretty cheap for a dinner only difference from lunch is they add two shrimps. Use to have ice cream too don't know why it was taken off. If a soup comes with whatever meal you get ask for a soup of your preference. They won't tell you no even though it says Miso and you want a hot and sour. If you order a sushi combo during lunch you can substitute one of the hand rolls for two of the other hand roll offered. Example: If it comes with a spider roll and spicy salmon roll, you can either get two spider or two spicy salmon Wait staff is pretty attentive to you and checks on you. I've never had issues in the 20+ times I have been there. Especially the wait staff that has been there for a long time. All in all really love going here. read more

We've come here for so many date nights pre-COVID. The food and service was always up to par. However, I went to pick up to go food the other day and the sushi makers weren't wearing masks. Whether you agree with mask wearing or not, during a pandemic, sanitary expectations should be that all food handlers are wearing them. And because sushi isn't cooked, I don't want their breath and particles all over my sushi even more. The manager rang up my bill and had his mask pulled down below his nose as well. I eat sushi pretty often. Typically at least once or twice a month. Been doing it for years. I don't think I was extra hungry and expectations normal. This was extremely exceptional sushi. We had five different types that night, and each was great on its own. I'm writing the review a day or two later and still wanting some more. While I have supported this establishment pre and during Covid, since 2007. I have recently, had no worse experience. This evening, after receiving my check, they have started charging an additional 50 cents for a sliver of avocado that you can see through and 25 cents for a sliver of jalapeño, that isn't even present on each piece of sushi!!! I can hardly believe how I was treated by Thai, the owner.... seriously, have been a loyal customer, since 2007. I am sorry for anyone I have directed to come to this establishment. Good sushi spot in Spring. It's very close to work for me and I usually hit up here for a quick power lunch. Not my favorite sushi spot in the general area, but can't beat the convenience. Decor inside looks ok. It's half sushi and half hibachi. I've never done the Benihana side so I can't say. For the sushi side, decor is ok. The tables/chairs in the dining area could be better but I usually opt for the sushi bar which is good enough anyway hanging out with the sushi guys in the back and watching TV. Since I only eat lunch here, they never have uni available. Dislike. Service here is always friendly. Sushi here tastes reasonably fresh. They have a decent variety of options here despite lack of uni. My favorite here is the ama-ebi (sweet shrimp). The raw shrimp is sweet and delish along with the accompanied deep-fried shrimp heads that make for a great snack. Decent rolls and handrolls here. 3.5 stars. read more

He berated his servers more than once and was extremely rude to my entire family over a 10 dollar entrée. He was awful . This place could do so much better if he just stayed home. I'm a bit shocked at the service to say the least. I'm easy to please and understand the stress servers take on, but this woman was on another level. When we ordered, my friend ordered three plain salmon rolls. She acted in a way that was almost shaming her for ordering that many (small) rolls. I then ordered the chicken hibachi meal and asked for my vegetables steamed. She told me they're too busy to do that, the vegetables are already prepared, and I would be getting them regular. I received my salad appetizer and it had no dressing, not even carrots, it was chopped iceberg lettuce in a bowl. We weren't checked on the whole meal. We get around to the bill, and we get the wrong checks. The icing on the cake was the server hovering over me when it was time to give the tip because I paid cash. I felt pressured to give a tip over what I wanted to give due to the service. I won't be going back. At least I have a good story and a laugh! read more

Best sushi I've ever had! People there are so sweet and just funny! I ordered 5 dishes and every single one of them tasted phenomenal. The girl at the front is always so sweet and helpful making sure I get enough of my favorite sauces. The Hibachi filet mignon & shrimp is amazing as well. I have passed by this place for forever and never stopped in. While my little sister was in town she had a sushi craving so we decided to give this place a shot. We order the spring rolls, gyoza, and 2 shaggy dog rolls. Everything was delicious. My only issue I had was when it was time to pay the big mix up and comment that was made. So when it was time to pay our waitress came got our tickets and form or payment. When she came back to the table she asked was a card (that was not mine) my card... I told her no and then she realized she had mad a big mistake but did not inform me or the table who was involved at the time...So about 10 minutes has passed and she comes back to the table and ask for cash but I replied no. So this took about 20-25 extra minutes then finally she comes back to the table and hands me an amended receipt with no explanation.... Before I could sign the receipt she says "no tip for me, I only make $2 an hour".... By this time I am livid because if you would have given me a darn chance to even write... We went in (5 people) last Friday and decided to sit on the hibachi side for the first time as soon as two of us sat down, a roach came from below the hibachi grill, crawled under the menu to greet us at the edge of the table. That roach was too comfortable with people. We immediately made a beeline to the front. I told the host, and she said "oh sorry " as if she was not the least bit surprised at all.
