Have visited once for lunch and twice for dinner now. Kyoto offers the option to order from the menu or an All You Can Eat option. For the AYCE lunch, the menu options are obviously reduced so be aware that not everything will be available. I do appreciate that you can still get sashimi on the lunch menu. I like that Kyoto has a large variety of appetizers, rolls, handrolls, sushi, sashimi, ramen, udon, rice, etc. This place really has just about something for everyone. You simply let the wait staff know what you'd like from the menu. I recommend ordering 4-5 dishes at a time so you can pace yourself. The waiter/waitress will come by relatively frequently to check if you want to order more. Some of the items that I highly recommend are: appetizers - yellowtail jalapeno tataki, pepper tuna tataki, beef tataki, sexy jalapeno, grilled mussels yaki udon - it comes in a rice bowl so it's thankfully not a giant bowl of noodles. the fried rice is also the same portion size. any of the sushi, sashimi, handrolls I find that their specialty rolls have a bit too much rice (which makes them every filling) and that they're too large (they're full-size 8-10 piece rolls). I would have preferred half rolls so you can try more without getting completely stuffed after a couple. I saw my table neighbor order the habachi beef and vegetables, which he ate very quickly and deliciously so I will definitely try that next time. The desserts were ice creams (yay for green tea and red bean flavors), plus the regular strawberry, vanilla, choco flavors. The fried bananas are good, fried ice cream is ok but it's better to have it non-fried imo, and the fried oreos are very sweet (the filling dissolves into the cookie). read more

Trying a new restaurant always feels like a gamble, but this one paid off in the best way. From the moment we walked in, the place felt welcoming and spotless -- the kind of clean that instantly puts you at ease. The service was just as impressive: friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to help with recommendations without hovering. It set the tone for a really enjoyable meal. We started with the spicy edamame, which had the perfect kick without overpowering the flavor -- warm, savory, and addictive. The crab Rangoon came out hot and crispy, with a creamy filling that wasn't overly sweet. Both the shrimp and chicken tempura were light and crunchy, not greasy at all, and cooked just right. The sushi was a standout. The Shaggy Dog roll was rich and satisfying, the Dynamite roll brought just the right amount of heat, and the Snow Dragon roll was not only beautiful but packed with fresh, balanced flavors. Each roll tasted thoughtfully made, not rushed, and the quality really showed. The chicken ramen with a tonkotsu base was pure comfort. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles had great texture, and the chicken was tender -- the kind of bowl you don't want to end. To finish, we shared green tea ice cream, which was smooth, lightly sweet, and the perfect way to wrap up the meal. Overall, everything from the cleanliness and service to the food itself made this a fantastic first visit. We left full, happy, and already talking about what we'd order next time. We will absolutely be back -- this place is a new favorite. read more

I've eaten a lot of nigiri here. Is it bloofin? No. But it's $30 a person and it's good and you can eat as many gyoza as you want. Great spot, never leave here hungry read more

This is a followup to my first review. We returned last week for dinner before a movie and I took my husband along with the two friends who had been with me the first time. The two friends ordered AYCE, I ordered a bento box, and my husband, who'd had a late lunch, wanted only an order of gyoza. The AYCE items were delivered promptly--maybe a little too much so. My bento box took a bit longer. And my husband's gyoza did not arrive until about 10 minutes before we had to make it to our movie! We asked repeatedly for a report on when his order might arrive, and our server kept saying the kitchen was full of trainees that night. My husband was so disgusted he threatened to cancel his order, but I compelled him to not do that on principle alone. I'm not saying I won't return to this place, but this second experience certainly tainted the first one. read more

Overall, very nice sushi. I didn't feel like the sushi itself was of a lesser quality like some all you can eat (AYCE) places. Oddly enough, they will give you the option for either sashimi or nigiri sushi when you order which is highly unusual for an AYCE. AYCE M-F 11a - 3p I would definitely come back here again. The Shrimp Tempura is absolutely premade & might have been made offsite. The Spicy Tuna Roll was just off enough that I didn't try to finish them. read more

Went here yesterday to meet up with some friends in the north area. Although the sign says "opening," it's actually still in a soft opening phase, not a grand opening yet. There's definitely a lot for them to work on, so I'm being generous with a 3-star rating for now. I was told this isn't their final menu and that it's still being developed. The restaurant itself looks nice and spacious, but when the sun was still out, it shined directly into half of the dining area, which was a bit uncomfortable. The staff seemed new, and it felt like they might have some family members helping out. The menu is quite small--similar to some other sushi spots I've reviewed. While I already have my go-to sushi restaurants, this one caters more to the Northwest Houston area, where there isn't as much competition nearby. The appetizers lacked flavor, but the sashimi platter looked pretty good. Some of the sushi wasn't very fresh, while others were okay. The steaks were overcooked, but the sushi nigiri was solid, and the rice portion was balanced. Interestingly, the restaurant also advertises Feng Cha drinks, and you can order them directly there--possibly some sort of ownership connection? Overall, it's hard to fully judge the experience since they're still in the soft opening stage. Right now, it's not a great experience, and food is not that great. Other than that, most of the issues are fixable. I'll probably revisit if I was in the area to give an update. read more

First time here and then food was great and the services was on point. I would recommend for a AYCES.

The ambiance is absolutely wonderful--warm, cozy, and perfect for families to enjoy a relaxing lunch together. The staff are incredibly attentive and genuinely friendly, with a special shoutout to Evelyn, our amazing server, who made the experience even better. The food was outstanding in every way--superb quality, delightful taste, and beautifully presented. I can't recommend Kyoto Sushi enough for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable family meal over delicious sushi! read more

Wife and I visited on a slow Thursday night. Had our doubts but we were quickly proven wrong. Waitstaff is quick and attentive. Crab Rangoon is fried fresh. Spicy Edamame is on point. Their specialty rolls are great as well. Pictured below are the Spicy Lady roll and the Louisiana Roll. Definite must try for the sushi aficionado! read more

With 2 boys who love sushi, this all you can eat sushi is a great deal. We are frequent customers. We've tried lots of different items from appetizers to dessert and have found them all delicious. My youngest loves the seaweed salad, the eel sushi, and the fried ice cream. read more

AMAZING,great service,Mathew deserves a raise.PERIOD no more needed to be said this place is lovely

When it first opened, my husband and I loved to come here. The quality of the sashimi was great and was really fresh. The past two times I would say it has overall declined. We came back last week and both said that we would never come back. The service was poor, the server obviously didn't put in our order and we had to reorder our food after 20-30 mins. Every beer my husband ordered had foam in half the glass. The sashimi tasted dirty and old. We really liked the place before and it's unfortunate this restaurant has declined. read more
