Honestly Im upset I even have to write this. My fiance and my last visit was not good. He has been coming here almost 10 years and he's been taking me/ordering out frequently since we've gotten together. It's something we both look forward to. Today we sat in the restaurant and barely got service. It was not busy, there were only three other tables in the restaurant that had customers. I personally am a server at a different restaurant and would never expect a tip based off the service received. I had to go to the register to get my own check and was then watched as a filled out my receipt for subpar service. With the comment of "you're so pretty" as she's staring at the tip line to see what I put. We never got a refill, the food wasn't good. We only took a couple bites of our food. We absolutely love fried rice, egg drop soup, and lo mien, but instead of loving it we left a full Large bowl of egg drop soup, a full plate of house fried rice, and a full plate of beef lo mien. The beef was disgusting and everything was underseasoned and mushy. We will not be coming back or ordering out again. I tried to talk to him privately away from all customers and he said, "I don't have time for you, only customers sitting down." He began yelling at me in the restaurant in front of customers, and I said "he is rude." The entree contained plenty of proteins with diced green peppers, diced carrots, mushrooms, celery. It was satisfying, but not inspiring. The presence of vegetables and other goodies in the fried rice was almost non-existent. The staff at this restaurant are friendly, attentive, and provide very good service. Our go to Chinese restaurant got new managent and we decided to try something new. We have tried Mei Wei in our search for a new regular Chinese food fix. Although we have ordered here more than once, we are still looking. The chicken fried rice is a great choice as are the steamed dumplings. However, the egg drop soup had a strange consistency. The kung pao chicken lacked flavor but wasn't too spicy if you don't want your mouth on fire. Overall, it's good in a pinch. read more

Keep in mind I was starving at the time (when everything tastes better). I had chicken and veggies with brown rice. The rice was MUSH. Wayyy over cooked and tasted horrible. It was so inedible, I had to sadly throw it in the trash. The chicken was like boiled rubber. No flavor. I tried to doctor it up with seasonings and sauces I had at home to make it tolerable. This used to be my go-to Chinese food place, but sadly, the quality of the food and service has declined in recent months. The final straw for me was when I went to pick up a takeout order and the cashier was wearing only a lace bra as a top, and she was scratching actively bleeding sores on her chest while processing my credit card. Even the fried rice, which is usually hard to mess up, had no flavor at all. I imagine this is what cafeteria food at a retirement home tastes like. I respect a tasty, affordable, timely packaged and delivered meal. MeiWei is my go to for Chinese takeout in The Woodlands area. Staff are professional and friendly. My food is presented with freshness and is still hot by the time it is delivered to my door. My order faves include combination fried rice, hot and sour soup, beef with broccoli, orange chicken, and vegetable lo-mein. This may sound pretty particular but my favorite part of the meal is eating the fortune cookies provided with my Chinese takeout. Some fortune cookies taste super hard and aren't just a good taste overall. I really enjoy the cookies they package and the fortunes are fun (sometimes believable) to read! Haha! During coronavirus, they are taking precautionary measures to protect themselves and their customers by wearing masks, and dropping off your food at your doorstep as an option. I love Thai green curry. But not here. When i have gotten it elsewhere it is usually more like a soup. This was not. It was a plate of chicken with a little sauce and two huge scoops of rice.
