This is a nice little mom and pop shop that serves up awesome traditional but also Americanized asian cuisine. Today I felt like eating something simple, quick, and delicious so I ordered the general Tso chicken with steam rice for around $10-11. Not bad! For that price, you get a decent amount of protein and probably more rice than one person should eat. The general Tso chicken was delicious as expected. Even though there were other customers in ordering inside, my order time only took less than 10 minutes to pick up! That's honestly faster than some drive thru places I've been to. It looks like everything is only to-go for now because of Covid. That is ok though because we try to avoid dining into restaurants anyways. Placed an order for pickup and it was amazing! The woman at the counter was very polite. We ordered a small hot and sour soup, spicy combo fried rice and bourbon chicken with white rice. My husband said it was some of the best takeout fried rice he has ever had. The hot and sour soup was less sour and less thick than I usually like, but the bourbon chicken is delicious. For 1 order of eggs rolls(2) 2 plates of Mongolian beef and upgraded the steam rice for pork fried rice, kids plate with 3 cans of soda. Our plates of Mongolian beef no joke had less than 6 small pieces of beef and with pounds of onions and veggies!! No meat!!!? Failed to mention that they charge you 7 dollars for EACH plate to upgrade the steamed rice to fried rice. So that alone is an extra 14$ on top of the plates already being $30 together. I mean, this place is a mess... there's a hot water heater sitting in the middle of the restaurant, there's supplies all over the place, they're doing take out only and it always takes a long time to get your food, and when it do actually get your food, it's average at best. My go to Chinese place north side right before you get into woodland's area. It's a small mom and pop place, since quarantine there's no dine in. All to go only or door dash, but I order pick up cause I prefer not to pay the fee and I can go get it. You can customize your dish like spicer or not since they make everything from scratch so that's a plus. I always get the crab Rangoons/puff/cream cheese/whatever you call them. I like the sweet and sour sauce dip. Was trying to be healthy so I ordered beef and veggies. I ate most of the food so I don't have other pics to show for. Sorry, maybe next time. The chicken lo Mein was really good, not greasy or too salty, just right. The only thing is that I have never had lo Mein made with these flat noodles, don't get me wrong, they were good, but slightly over boiled and I'm just used to the rounder lo Mein noodles. The noodles were pasta not rice noodles, seriously linguini No Tofu Jalapeños instead of chilis and red pepper flakes me I pulled almost a cup full out of the dish The sauce was not pad Thai sauce but some other brown sauce The shrimp was missing completely I called the restaurant and the person who answered basically said that's the way they make it and if I don't like it don't order again. All I asked for was them to remake it with the shrimp this time and less jalapeños. She said we can't remake food because of the pandemic and hung up. WTF Never again. Terrible read more

Found Hunan Jade while driving around looking for a place that was open late on a Saturday night. Got my food to go (currently take out only). The hostess took my order and it was out within minutes. Chicken fried rice was good and it was a generous portion. Shrimp with lobster sauce was a lighter sauce than I'm used to, but still very tasty and came with a dozen very large shrimp. Wonton soup was very good and the wontons appeared to be made in house. Food was definitely very Americanized Chinese but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It hit the spot! read more

You can pick any Chinese restaurant in the area and know that you can order your same dish at each and every one. My other half always picks orange chicken, and I order the garlic chicken. At Hunan Jade, your meal includes the entrée and a side of rice. I always add the egg roll appetizer (two rolls per order) with sweet and sour sauce to round off the meals. Five times we have called and ordered for delivery and, each time, - they have been brief but polite on the phone, - true to their estimated time, - orders have been right, - The driver also humors our request to call and not knock on our door! You see.. I have three dachshunds, and that means a tiny army trying to get to the intruder at the door X] So we take them to the back yard and sneak out to get the food when the driver calls! I was craving some good Chinese food around the area where I work so of course I turn to Yelp for some help. I was glad I chose this place as the food was delicious and it was very reasonably priced as you would expect for Chinese food. They have a variety of lunch items on their menu and they have it 7 days a week from 11-3 pm for those who live nearby and can go on the weekends. I ordered the Orange chicken and it came with your choice of soup, rice, and egroll. The wonton soup is divine. Almost had a buttery flavor to it that added a nice flavor to the broth. My entree was Orange chicken and it was about the best orange chicken I have had in some time. It was perfectly cooked and was a nice lunch portion. The iced tea I ordered was a little watery so next time I will get water but they made up for it with the food. If you work or live near the area, this little quaint place is where you need to go for Chinese. Owners are very nice and humble and I wish them the best ! What a missed opportunity. This place has decent food, but horrible customer service. I came in first the first time to order carry out for lunch. The cashier took my order and told me 10 minutes. Since the dining room is closed I told her I would wait outside. So after about 5 minutes I turned around to look inside to see my order sitting there. They had no other customers mind you. The least she could have done was open the door and hand me my bag. I'm on lunch so I needed to get back to work. I realized later I didn't receive an egg roll or wonton, and no sweet/sour sauce. Stopped by for lunch on my way from Dallas to Houston. Place was absolutely empty at 1PM. Super nice lady was there to greet me as soon as I walked in. I was seated and had a drink in 30 seconds(diet coke in a can with a nice cup of ice). Ordered my lunch, soup was out immediately, and it was hot and very tasty(egg drop soup). Lunch was out about 4 mins later. The Beef and Mixed Vegetables were tasty. Only reason for a 4 star is that this is a run of the mill Chinese restaurant. When we got here (around 7 pm), there was only two other parties eating. It is a small joint - four booths and 6 four-person tables. this meal was a "take out" order. The Chinese woman behind the small desk/stand was very polite and friendly. She patiently waited for us to make our order - never felt rushed. I can only comment on my dish, as I only eat one thing when it comes to Chinese food: Sesame Chicken. This restaurants rendition of SC is different from what I ideally like. However, it wasn't bad. I like a more sweet (best word I can think of to describe it) SC. This had a lite soy, not exactly sweet, but not sour, taste. The other 4 dishes we got for the rest to eat, we're very good, according to my other family members that ate. I don't think I'd ever order this SC again, but who knows, perhaps next time I'm down south my taste buds will have expanded :) read more

Not again. I should have stuck with Golden China! Ordered the beef and broccoli, they would not sub rice for egg roll (GC will, just do it, come on and work with me, don't just shake your head...) Food I got was lame. Broccoli wasn't prepared as well and seemed less fresh than Golden China's, the pieces were too big and had too much stem n' stuff. Meat was weird, I didn't even finish it! This little restaurant is good. Seams to be fresh. It does take some time to get your order even if you phone in. Prices are a little higher for the smaller sized portions. Customer service needs some work and are a little aggressive. I do like to eat here if it's been a long day and don't want to cook. Lemon chicken is very good. I do like how they put on the side of you order for take out Beef and broccoli is good. Chow mai or fun noddles are good Orange chick is ok. Taste like everywhere else. Crab puffs ok. Not enough filling. It's a good place but needs to fill the plates or lower the prices. Also need to work on customer service be more relaxed or friendly. I picked up some takeout a couple weeks ago and I got the family dinner which is and entrée (steamed rice) a soup or choice an egg roll an a crab wonton for about $10.99 plus tax which seemed like a good deal. I went with egg drop soup which was OK but very bland needed some seasoning. The steamed rice was brown which surprised me because I was expecting steamed rice with nothing in it. Taste like it was either soy sauce or beef broth still have no idea what it was. I ordered Kung Pow Chicken and I really don't know what I got because I got thin sliced chicken with a couple peanuts and a whole lot of celery and carrots which I have never had in kung pow before. I can't say I enjoyed it although I really wish I did. Best thing out of the whole meal was the egg roll and crab wonton. Which is really unfortunate. Taste wise nothing horrible just a little bland and not very authentic. read more
