Always best in service, food with a great beer variety!! All the staff are very courteous and the restaurant is always clean. Worth a visit for sure!

The people here are always friendly. I've eaten here several times, and never had bad service or a bad meal. They have great lunch specials (soup, entree, and appetizer), and a great option for dinner with two entrees on one plate. I love the sweet and sour chicken along with the General Tso's chicken. This place is a staple in our restaurant rotation.

My dad took me to this place and the taste of China is more like the taste of JOY,some recommendations I would give would be the general TSO chicken and the steamed fried chicken dumplings. The people there are really nice and make you feel at home. The owner gave us a homemade blueberry muffin. Which was so good it melted the roof of our mouth. if I were you, I would stop reading this review immediately and drive straight to this place if you're hungry. Luke the homeschooler

This place is amazing! The food is awesome and if you have been here more than once the owner May will call you by your name. Unbelievable service! I won't eat Chinese anywhere else while visiting Houston!

Very below average MID tasting Chinese food... don't trust the reviews talking about 'best' in the area... Go to Panda Express or something. You'll at the least get fresh made food. Very underwhelming for the price I paid.

I'm sorry to say I was a bit disappointed with my $27 meal here. The egg rolls were almost inedible for me as they were too salty. I ate as much as I could but couldn't take another salt filled bite so I had to throw them away after about half of the first one. The rice was also dissappointing. It was kind of like a dry, chalky taste. I bet their other fried rice options were good though! The only saving grace was the chow fun. I had the beef chow fun and that was delicious! It almost had like a grilled noodle taste and the beef was super tender. It was not over seasoned or salty at all - I was sad I couldn't eat more of it! But I will be saving it for a later meal. I think overall, I would come back for the beef chow fun or another noodle dish and possibly a chicken dish since the orange chicken looked scrumptious!

Taste of China Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Taste of China

I've had headaches after the 2 times I've eaten from here. Do they use MSG, or other preservatives?

My wife is very sensitive to MSG! It gives her major migraines, but this has never happened after we eat here, so I would say it's not from MSG as we eat here on a fairly regular basis.

All you can eat?

No but the portions, quality and value are terrific. You will not leave hungry. The food quality and taste are much better than most of the Chinese restaurants in the area.

Does anyone know if they are open for dine in services?

Yes

The food was very good!…read more I was hesitant at first because some of the menu seemed to be fusion items. In a place like Houston, where you can get authentic Vietnamese food, this can be a luck draw if the fusion pays off. However, when I tried the food, it was a very flavorful and worth every cent I spent. Everything was very tasty. The wings were flavorful and crisp. It had a combination of crispy skin seasoned with a rich sauce. The meat was also moist. For a party of two, it was also very shareable because they gave six pieces -both drums and wings. I will say that you really gotta to get in there get your hands and face dirty though! (They did provide a hand wipe!) For the main dishes, the won tonic soup was very flavorful with sweet-and-sour elements with egg noodles that soaked up all this good flavor. The wontons inside were very standard. And the onion was added to provide some balance. Everything was very hardy and filling. My friend had gotten the vermicelli. Which came with crunchy egg rolls, shredded veggies, noodles, and shrimp topped with a fish sauce. It felt very light and refreshing with a balance of textures and savory elements'. Highly recommend as the number one and two selling dishes - it would just depend on if you're in a soup or dry noodle sort of mood. Service was overall fast and friendly. You have to pay by going to the counter. We had a newer waiter though, and it took him a long time to get our orders correctly and he had to get some help. Hopefully they're doing well, but overall, it's a very cute Homie little establishment. Seating fits around 30 around booths and tables.

At my most recent visit, our server, Jennifer, had such a great attitude. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and gave helpful suggestions without being pushy at all. Though Jinya is known for their ramen, I actually prefer to order their rice bowls! The Pork Chashu is my favorite item here, and their Tokyo Curry Rice is amazing too. I got the black tonkotsu ramen ($17). The price was okay, the portion was okay, and the ramen was okay. The whole thing was mid. Later, my friend told me that Jinya the "McDonalds" of ramen shops and I should have gone elsewhere LMAO The "black" means that it had black garlic oil in it, but for some reason, there was not enough of that garlic flavor for me to justify calling it a "black" ramen. I don't know if the chopped garlic wasn't toasted enough or whether the amount of the black garlic oil was too little, but it wasn't garlicky enough. The broth was mild in flavor. It looked creamy enough, but maybe it was diluted down to stretch it more? I have a feeling that if you stuck the broth in the fridge, it wouldn't solidify (which is a clear indication that it's either been diluted down or the pork bones to make it weren't cooked long enough). We're in Houston, there are SO many good ramen places, so I wouldn't come back here again. Not awful, but not great, just meh.

The staff is wonderful--a helpful young man at the register guided us toward the Happy Hour menu, which is surprisingly extensive. You order at the counter(s), or at the table from the roving staff with handheld PoS units. I tried the Big TX Breakfast, subbed in the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes to share. Top quality ingredients, bacon & sausage were excellent, eggs were prepared perfectly and the breakfast potatoes were crispy and seasoned just right. My wife got an omelette that was stuffed full, and my daughter got bacon & eggs with a "fantastic" cappuccino. They were busy, but we got rings in at 9:45 on a Saturday morning.
