Very disappointed. Our red velvet cupcake was dry and the icing had an odd flavor. It is my daughter's favorite type of cake and she knows what it should taste like. She took a tiny bite and then asked to swap it for something else. The staff person snickered and was rude. She said no exchanges or returns because it's food. Did not ask what the issue was or why we were unhappy. We just threw the cupcake out. At a minimum she could have asked what the issue was or apologized that we were unhappy. It's been a while since I paid a visit to Smallcakes. Last time was almost five years ago in Orange Country, California, so coming by on a Sunday afternoon for a cupcake to-go was definitely a nice treat. There were so many flavors to choose from, but I tend to gravitate towards non-chocolate flavors so I was able to "eliminate" half of the options with ease. The Pink Vanilla grabbed my eyes immediately, as it was generously frosted and coated with bright pink sprinkles. Perfect! My cupcake held up for the entirety of the short ride home. Even though the cupcake seemed "large" (measured around 150 grams, about 480 calories) it was the perfect size for me---the cake portion was super soft, and there was plenty of frosting to balance out the cake. Now that I'm back in the States after spending a significant time abroad, I am looking forward to have cupcakes like the ones at Smallcakes on a more frequent basis! read more

One of the first places I saw open for to-go foods during COVID-19, and they made me a happy customer. We tried a variety of things this visit and have been back since for a small cake. They really came through with a last minute red velvet cake for Mother's Day when nowhere else was. Had cookies and brownies from this place which I ordered from UberEats and these were possibly the worst deserts I've ever had in my entire life. My first reaction when walking in was amazing due to the cupcakes being beautifully displayed and decorated (2 stars for that). However, I was very disappointed once sampling them.
