I went to this bakery not knowing what to expect, I have always gone to Sprinkles or Crave. That being said my first trip to Smallcakes was so amazing! The store was very inviting and had beautiful artwork and decor. To my surprise they also served Ice Cream! The girls working the front helped me sample a few flavors; they all tasted great but Lily's Strawberry was my favorite! The Cupcakes are super moist, my favorite was the Peanut Butter Cup! I love the cream cheese frosting, and chunks of Chocolate & Peanut butter on top. I am glad I tried this place and it looks like I have a new go to cupcake spot! read more

I didn't really enjoy my experience at this location. I visited because I saw a lot of really good pics on IG and heard a lot about the goodies here, so I was pretty disappointed after my visit. When I walked in, the store smelled heavily of cleaning supplies, like a bathroom, not like a bakery. There was only one person behind the counter and she was very pushy. She continued to ask if we were ready to order (every 30 seconds) and would roll her eyes if we said we needed a few moments to decide. We ordered the Smallcake Smash and it ended up being wrong. The cupcake was good - but not good enough to go back after a wrong order, poor customer service and a bakery that smelled like a restroom. Can't see myself returning. read more

I am a cupcake connoisseur. So I'm very harsh when it comes to cupcake quality. This location gets a solid 5 compared to the woodlands location. The chocolate cream cupcake is one of the most moist chocolate cakes I've ever had. They rotate flavors daily so I always do my best to step out of the norm. Where do I begin. Due to Hurricane Harvey I've been living in a hotel near this store. I stopped in one night and got the lemon drop and everything fall cupcakes. I thought the price was a bit pricey but I love cupcakes and always looking for cupcakes that are moist and the icing is a tasty buttercream. Well I found it! I've been several times and I always get a lemon drop and another flavor so I guess you can say lemon drop is my fave. They sell ice cream too but I haven't tried it because I can't get past the cupcakes. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I plan to get a dozen for work and I'm sure my staff will absolutely love them. I've been thinking about what I'm going to do when my house is repaired and I move back home. I may have to make a monthly trip over here and pick me up some. read more

The coworker working there was very rude and they didn't welcome us, this was the first and last time I will be going there. The cupcakes you buy at Sam's club are better than these. First time try and it was very good. The size of the cupcake was on the side of generous. These are not small cupcakes with loads of icing but medium cupcakes with just enough icing to not overpower the cupcake. We tried the Pink Vanilla, Wedding Cake and the Chocolate Crème. The Pink Vanilla was okay but the icing needed some work. Bland but sweet. Whipped to death and reminded me of Costco or Sam's cake icing. Sorry but true. The vanilla cupcake was moist with good crumb and flavoring. The Chocolate Crème was chocolate overload. The cake was moist and flavorful but the icing was just so dense that the tiny crème filling wasn't enough to balance it out. I would have loved more crème filling as it would have really added to the overall flavor. Finally, the Wedding Cake was the best of the three hands down. Rich almond flavoring in both the cake and the icing. The icing had more body to it and wasn't whipped to death. I wish it had more icing on top as it was really good. The cake was moist and so lite. When I am back in town again I'll give the other flavors a try but I'll go back for the Wedding Cake cupcake all the time. Overall the store was super cute. Floor needed a good cleaning and the bathroom a deep cleaning but aside from that it's a good place for cupcakes! read more

I got the birthday cake cupcake and it was very moist and delicious my friend got the caramel pecan one and she loved it too, the only thing we didn't like is that it had a little too much icing to be able to handle. They have some fun flavors and they do a good job with presentation. However, we weren't overly impressed with them. Living in Austin, we typically go to Sprinkles and that has set the bar really high for cupcakes and only a few locations compare in my opinion. Smallcakes is a cute and fun local place and definitely worth trying when in the neighborhood but I do feel like the ratings oversold us. We ordered a few flavors: lemon, strawberry and red velvet. The gentleman working today 5/7 was so helpful in telling me what were his favorites, and in upcoming specials for Mother's Day. But I have to agree with other reviewers -the frosting is too sweet. I L O V E sweet frosting. But the frosting is just sugary sweet with no other flavor. The only frosting that got the okay was the peanut butter from my husband who has a pretty non-discriminant palate. All the others only taste like sugar no distinct flavor. I was super excited that Smallcakes opened in Spring, and I was even more excited that this location has ice cream too! Smallcakes makes delicious light and fluffy cupcakes that taste amazing. This last trip I tried a new cupcake, I wish I new the flavor of it. I think it was like a buttercookie cupcake that had a pretty big cookie ontop. It was amazing!
