Immediately when I asked my Houston friends what bakery to visit, they all said Six Ping. Truly a mom and pop shop, an elder woman ( I assume the owner) greeted me when I walked in in Mandarin. Some regulars definitely loyal to the shop. Clean, affordable, large selection and most importantly...DELICIOUS. Soft buttery bread on each bite and they don't skimp on the topping or fillings. Lost a star because the cashier was so incredibly rude when my card had to be run again, and yelled at me in Mandarin and then asked if my card was even real? Came here to check out Anna's Bakery as this was previously called Six Ping. Lots of Beth tasty pastries both sweet and savory. I got the vanilla cup cake which was great as it was soft and fluffy and not overly sweet. The puff pastry was crisp and fluffy too. Got the Mary's cookies, almond cookies, custard and strawberry buns too. They were all delicious. I need to go back and get more so I can take them home to Dallas. read more

One thing to note, If you are looking for something really sweet this isn't the place. The food I get from here is always very light with some sweetness to it. I really wish I took photos of the bakery. This place is so cute and quaint. I just hope their getting their customer share in this location on this part of Houston. It isn't the safest area of Houston but this little plaza is definitely adorable to its extent. Staff is super sweet and their bakery breads are amazing. The first thing I look for when I go to new places is to see how clean it is, and six ping is clean, modern and has the cutest bakes goods! The cakes looked adorable, the little bags of cookies are cute as well, and the egg custard we got was delicious. We also bought a croissant type bread with sliced almonds on top that my husband enjoyed. They don't have ice cream cakes available after covid begun. They also are very particular on what they can design outside or their normal. As for the cake flavors, it's more limited than their menu because you need to order specific sizes for certain flavors. I ended up settling with the hello kitty coffee cake flavor. The cake was moist and spongy but the coffee flavor was not strong. Stumbled upon this place after a nice lunch at a pho + seafood place next door. I was so excited when I saw such cute pastries and desserts, particularly the brown bear mousse cake. How could I not have gotten one? It was just so adorable and bears are my favorite animal. I was almost sad to have to ruin the aesthetic of it in order to eat it, but I can say that it tasted great as it looked. I enjoyed every bite, almost indefinitely. I also got a bunch of other baked goods which I found delicious as well. I did enjoy the cake more than the baked goods though. Some of the bread wasn't the softest or as moist as I hoped it would be, but regardless, I did still enjoy it. I was glad and took her up on that as there were ingredients I have never had before. We went later in the day so they were sold out of a lot of stuff. Some of the best sweet buns I've ever tasted. Perfectly golden, inside is soft and almost cake like, you can taste the sweetness, it's almost like a custard when warmed. Excellent baked goods, one location in the Chinatown area and the other between Cyprus and Spring in the Champion Forest area on 1960. Ask for the white cake. It is superb with ice cream at home. Take a tray as you enter and pile on the raisin bread as well as the cream filled buns. Then, take them to the cashier. Don't forget the milk breads they serve. We have not tried their birthday cakes. They have breakfast breads and buns but we have not been there early enough to try. For the kids they have animal shape breads on the weekends. On Saturday, they sell cha shu steam baos also, they are not made on site, but are delicious. read more

I was exploring around the area and found this cute little bakery. It reminds of 85° C Bakery Cafe back in California. The aroma of sweet breads engulfs your senses when you walk through the doors. Everything is individually wrapped and displayed neatly on shelves. There are so many different selections it's hard to leave without buying everything! There's a wide selection of sweet and savory treats - coconut bread, red bean bread, butter bread, peanut bread, pork bread, taro bread, breads with cream fillings, and so many more. The store is located in the shopping center that is clean and have plenty of parking spaces. The store itself is clean and spacious for a bakery. It's very clean and had a wide variety of bread. I chose a few custard/cream rolls and they were very soft. They weren't as fresh as I expected them to be but were tasty nonetheless. The prices for the goods were fair. Prices ranged from ~$1.50-$2.50 for taro, custard, and red bean breads to $4 for the fancier little cakes, cookies, and macarons. Nice, clean & new. The aroma right when you walked in was like heaven! I went on a Sunday afternoon, it was not busy at all. The shelves were stocked though. They have a very wide variety of different breads. My son loves anything milky custard filled, so we got him his bread. The bread was huge & he loved it. We also got a taro filled one, which was amazing! The bread just melts in your mouth when you warm it up for a few seconds in the microwave. They had cases of fruit tarts that looked really good! I'll definitely be back to try one, because today I was on a mission to get my taro filled bread! We live in Spring, so I'm so happy a place like this opened just minutes away from us.
