Pastel Boutique to the rescue!! They came highly recommended, and I can absolutely see why. They were very responsive in their Facebook messages and not once did they make me feel bad for the short notice. They were very helpful in deciding what size we needed and upfront about the cost and everything that comes with it. The flavor options they provide feel endless! I had such a hard time choosing because so many of them sounded amazing. I had to keep reminding myself it was for my brother and not me because there were so many I wanted to selfishly try! They delivered EXACTLY what I wanted, and the cake turned out just like the inspiration photo I sent. I was a little nervous when it came time for the celebration, because in my past experiences when a cake looks great it doesn't usually taste too good. I was BLOWN AWAY by how yummy this cake was. The icing looked like fondant, but it wasn't. It was so so so much better! I've already told my husband that I want this bakery to do my own birthday cake this year! Giving 3 stars because even if this is the most delicious cake I've ever tried, it still won't be worth the hour wait in the lobby with no bathroom access. They messed the top of the cake up and didn't tell me until I tried to pick it up at the pickup time. Once I was there they decided to let me know the cake was messed up and I needed to wait for them to redo it. I came here on a schedule and now I'm an hour late and there's no bathroom and this is so messed up. Update: Got the cake, below you will see greasy fingerprints on the top decorations. I was looking for just the right thing for the newest baby born into our family, and was having trouble finding anyone who delivers to that part of Houston. I found this bakery on Yelp and "took a chance." I am extremely particular when it comes to all things creative and special. When I "see something in my head" I count on it being executed by the professionals who see my vision and perfect that. Normally, however, I am present, there are drawings, and plenty of time to get it "right". Because of the time issue (wanted it sent that day) and I'm 200 miles away, I had to trust they would get it right. Pastel Boutique did not fail. They went over, above and way beyond in their efforts to bake, design, and deliver on extremely short notice, as well as provide outstanding service to both me as well as my sweet nephew and niece and their brand new baby. I so appreciated their continued contact with me via email and telephone in letting me know what they had available as well as when they were delivering. As soon as the cupcakes arrived, my nephew sent me a text of thanks with a photo of the cupcakes. They looked even better than what I had envisioned! He said that when they opened the box the smell was unbelievably enticing! Of course, the ultimate test is in the eating, which they and other family members enjoyed to the fullest. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!! This location was recommended by someone else. I called on a Friday for info on a custom cake a d told me to e-mail them with all info and would get back hopefully by the end of that day or Saturday at the latest. She did say that they would be able to make the cake for me on a week notice. I got no response and called on Saturday, and said that they would get back with me to wait till Sunday because they were busy.. I called Sunday and told me that they would get back by Tuesday because they are closed on Monday. I told the lady that I wanted to know about if they could make my order because event would be on that weekend. I couldn't wait till Tuesday. She told me that a manager would look at it and let me know. Well is been a week and no call back or email. Lucky I was able to find another location. If you can't commit to an order don't tell your customers that you will let them know and leave them hanging. I wouldn't even give this bakery one star. I ordered a cake for my son's baptism celebration. When it was time to cut the cake it was FROZEN ! No not Elsa like a legit frozen ice cake. I did not order a ice cream cake. Anywho besides it being ice it was not even the flavors I had asked for it was confetti and the bottom layer was white maybe vanilla or something. I had order Strawberry cheesecake and chocolate. I called immediately bc I was so embarrassed that NO ONE got a piece of cake. How was I going to serve a ice cake ? I couldn't even slice a piece my husband had to do it. The person I talked to said I was only going to be refunded half of what I paid and it was a mix up with the cakes. So we took the whole cake back. The manager said was unable to take the cake back due to health code violations but took the cake anyways ... At this point I just wanted my money back. The manager was very hesitant to give me a full refund and making comments like "Should we glue the cake back together" to her employee. She wanted me to pay half to cover the cost of what she had lost. I'm sorry but no one ate the frozen cake, it wasn't even the flavors I had ask & she took the cake back.
