I recently discovered this bakery. I purchased a 7 up cake, a strawberry cupcake and a wedding cupcake they were both delicious. The customer service was neutral. The inside was clean and cute. read more

I can't believe I'm just now writing a review for this hidden gem. I've been a faithful fan/supporter of this place for some years now... at least 7 years that I can think of. So yes, I've had almost every cake flavor they've put out. They used to have half off Tuesday, then $2 Tuesday, and now it's roughly $2.95 Tuesday (inflation... I get it). But the cupcakes (and cakes) here are divine. I've picked them up for all types of occasions (kickbacks, teacher appreciation week, housewarming, etc.) and people always ask "where are they located" once they take one bite! The service is great as the ladies are always friendly. Support this business like I have! 10/10 read more

8/2022: HIGHLY MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND WheneverI I'm in the Houston area (childhood home) I try to seek out new businesses. Cake Swirl is located in a shopping strip in North Houston. Perfect customer service; friendly associate during my visit on 8/26/22 at 2:20p. Cake Swirl is definitely my new cupcake eatery in Houston. The slices of cake and cupcakes, cookies and brownies are one of the best I've ever had (except for Grandma's perfectly baked goodies). Menu changes but daily available flavors are: Red velvet Strawberry Swirl Cookies and cream Vanilla on Vanilla I bought a 1/2 dozen only as my Houston family and I are healthy eating enthusiasts but I chose today to be our CHEAT DAY! What flavors did buy you've asked? Red Velvet Italian Cream German Chocolate Strawberry Swirl Lemon Blueberry Vanilla on Vanilla and a slice of Strawberry cake Delicious!!!!!! I WILL BE BACK TO THIS business whenever in Houston read more

I needed cupcakes for a last-minute party well Cake Swirl did not disappoint. The flavors are unlike anything I have ever had before. They were so fresh and very tasty. I highly recommend them, and their staff were very professional, and they have great customer service. Will definitely order from them again. read more

Overall I will return but I agree with another reviewer that there was no customer service. I was not greeted, it was awkward and I let the cashier know it was my first time and I was interested in learning more about the pastry options. The cupcakes were dry to me but the topping of the pineapple cupcake was amazing! The Italian crème cake slice was the gem of the entire purchase and a MUST HAVE. That and the peach cobbler redeemed the experience to get a 4 star rating read more

This place is an absolute gem. Whoever is baking these knows what they're doing. Excellent, rich yet beautiful cupcakes. Always perfectly portrayed. And there is little to no wait time with the service but always friendly. This place is a must try and must come back for more. read more

I tried my first cupcake from this location while i was pregnant and now I'm hooked. Lol I ordered through door dash but the packaging was great. Cupcakes weren't turned over and were very fresh!! Normally I hate trying red velvet cupcakes if my Mom didn't make it because some people put too much chocolate in theirs. However, the red velvet cupcake was smooth, not too sweet, didn't taste like chocolate and the icing was sooooooo smooth and creamy!!!! I also had the strawberry and pineapple upside cupcakes and they were just as good. My husband hates sweets but he shared a cupcake with me and loved it. I will definitely be putting in an order for my baby shower and for any other future orders. read more

Just tried Cake Swirl for the first time. What stood out was the customer service and not in a good way. The cashier was not very customer friendly. If I remember correctly, she never smiled once. I informed her that it was my first visit. I didn't get a welcome or anything. Just crickets. Lol! I had to ask her about the cupcakes and prices. So definitely no service with a smile. Now, to the cupcakes. I ordered the pineapple upside down cake cupcake, a red velvet cupcake and a German chocolate cupcake. The German chocolate cupcake taste very good. The other two cupcakes were just okay. the upside down cake cupcake tasted really oily and it was crumbly. I feel that the red velvet was not that flavorful and it was a little dry. I also ordered some chocolate chip cookies they were not bad but they were not great. They were okay. I also ordered the peach cobbler. It was extremely sweet to me and the crust was too moist but my husband said that it was pretty good. Was there really anything that stood out that would make me go back? The answer is no. The desserts were on the level of okay. And definitely they need to be mindful of their customer service but I do understand sometimes people have a bad day but good customer service wins in the end even when the food is so so. read more

Finally tried this place after not having any succes when they were located in Old Town Spring. It seems they were never open during the opening times I stopped by. Anyhue, the new location is in the same shopping strip as Hanks, so I stopped in while I waited on my food from hank's. They had an array of dessert choices such as a watermelon cupcake, in which I thought was interesting- along a variety of other cupcake flavors, cookies, and cobbler. I must say that I was a bit disappointed that they did not have any samples to offer for new guests. The cashier at the front also seemed a bit unenthused about helping anyone further than what she had to. With that being said, I got a vanilla cupcake for my son and a slice Italian cake for myself. My son said he enjoyed his cupcake as he got quiet which was a good sign of that and my slice of Italian cake was not bad either. Although my suggestion would be to eat the icing WITH the cake, as the cake by itself lacked a bit in flavor. Needless to say I might come back and give it another try & try something else, but it was nothing that I could say that I would rave about. read more

Best cupcakes I've had by far and I don't really like cupcakes but I will eat these. The lemon swirl and the banana cupcakes are delicious. To be honest all of them are delicious. read more

Cakes and cookies were alright. The Cookies & Cream cupcake was more muffin-like than cake-like. On the Wedding Cake cupcake, the frosting was way too sweet. The German Chocolate cupcake was probably the best one I tried of the bunch. I also had a chocolate chip cookie--it was pretty good. However, the cupcakes and cookie seemed like they were fresh, and most likely made that day. The lady who took my order seemed pretty nice too. Will I be returning? Probably not. read more

Cake Swirl has a nice assortment of yummy cupcakes with delicious cream cheese frosting. The cake is moist and the frosting is perfect. I have ordered whole cakes from them as well and they turned out great. Today I tried the Italian cream cupcake. The cake part had crunchy bits of pecans and the frosting was sprinkled with coconut. It's not somewhere I go all the time since $3 a cupcake is a bit pricey to have often. read more

While visiting Houston, a friend took my coworkers and I to Cake Swirl. We met with the owner who was very nice. They had so many options, no one could decide on a flavor. We all picked about 3 cupcakes each and went back to the hotel and shared them. They all tasted great I don't think you can go wrong with any flavor that you choose. They were so good I had another friend bring me some back to Cali when she visited Houston. I also shared those with the people at work. This place is basic I got 4 cupcakes: cookies and cream, red velvet, pink champagne/ pistachio and lemon swirl. Cons: red velvet was dry and I don't get the champagne pistachio combo I only taste the pistachio flavored cake. Massive amount of frosting but I guess that's s plus depending on if you are a frosting person or not. Pros: cookies and cream was very good and the lemon was tasty too had filling as well . 4 cupcakes for under $10. I think it's worth it. read more
