We asked for one savory item, one chocolate indulgence, and one popular pick with vanilla or fruit... -The Chicken & Mushroom Friand (savory puff pastry) was flaky, buttery, and meaty, with nuttiness from the bechamel sauce that balanced the flavor & saltiness with elegant precision. -The Eclair Chocolat was other-worldly. In contrast to your typical donut shop version, this masterpiece highlights fluffy chocolate mousse inside an airy dessert shell, with just the right layer of milk-chocolate ganache topping. -And the Berry Custard was fresh and delicate. Simple but done very well. We've never been here before today, but after our delightful sampling of a few goodies we are sooo ready to stop by again (and often)! The ham & cheese croissant I got was not at all the same size in their display box. $9-10 for a croissant that was flat. A lady at the front also seemed to have French Attitude if you know what I mean. The space is also very small. You may have to sit outside. read more

The lady is always very welcoming. The shells for the tartelettes were being assembled in the back when I visited at 9 AM on a weekday. The croissant diplomates looked very tasty. I chose the pistachio and chocolate cream version because of the pretty colors. The croissant isn't very crispy but was thick and tasty with the creams. They bring the authentic European feel the minute you step into the boulangerie. The displays of the breads, pâtisserie and viennoiserie, the intimate, tight flow of the inside, the presence of the staff, the lingering whiff as you inhale the aromatic delights brought back moments of past travels with just a few euros in my pocket, backpack and a RATP ticket. If you want AUTHENTIC French, this is the spot!! The chef is classically trained, loves what he does and it is evident in each bite. The visit is not complete without taking home a fresh baguette. Savor the experience by listening for that small crack of the outer layer followed by the steam and softness of the inside and if you want the full experience spread some Le Gall butter, gruyère cheese and a few slices of ham. Who would've thought there'd be an authentic French bakery in Old Town Spring! The place is super cute inside and out... cozy shop in a village vibes. If you squint, you'll feel like you're in the countryside of France. The lady who was working was very sweet and enthusiastically explained all their different pastries to me. I ended up buying quite a few. They are quite generous with the butter! Every pastry tasted fresh and buttery. My favorite was the chicken mushroom one that I got, but the lemon meringue comes in at a close second. My mom just got back from Paris and said this was exactly like what she ate over there! The grilled ham and cheese to be exact... that ruined all grilled cheeses everywhere forever for me. This was such a wonderful French bakery tucked away in old town Spring. I found it while checking out the annual Mercer plant sale and so glad I did. It was a Saturday afternoon and OTS was popping, making parking very difficult to find. However, I was not deterred because pastries were on the line. Anyways, after parking and having lunch, we finally made our way to Chefs Providence. Its a small, unassuming shop with some outdoor seating. The owners were very nice, welcomed us, and gave us a quick rundown of some of their pastries and specials. I ended up going for a chocolate almond croissant, a pear almond tart, and a pistachio chocolate verrine. I would have gotten so much more but my wallet and my stomach could not afford anything else. The croissant was buttery with a perfectly bittersweet chocolate. Its become my current favorite croissant in Houston. The desserts were both super well balanced, not overly sweet, and flavors came through. The pistachio mousse was super light and creamy and went really well layered with a rich, dense chocolate cake, along with some whipped cream to lighten the whole dessert. The pear almond tart was very well baked with a subtley sweet almond base and very flavorful pears. I'm definitely impressed such a wonderful French bakery exists out here and sad it's a bit of a drive for me. However, I'dd definitely drive out for a pastry run and its a must stop for anyone in old town spring or wanting delicious pastries/desserts! read more

Wow! I'm so happy I discovered this place right here on Yelp. I would have never known how amazing this place is. I enjoyed every single bite! The husband and wife duo work together. The husband is a French chef. Complete with their authentic accent. Their little sign says " we don't have an accent, y'all do!" Now I ordered one of each croissant. They were all so fresh and light! Also ordered the French toast which came out made to order fresh. I had a bite as it was for my husband. Man o man was it good! The owners were super nice. It also had a little living area. One of the best bakeries I have been to in my entire life. Compares and better to anything I've had traveling through Europe, Asia, or the East/West coast of the United States. Every bite you can tell was crafted to the absolute perfection. I had the pleasure of trying the Lemon Meringue Tart and it was incredible. After complimenting it, the chef told me his aim for it was to achieve a pasty that was not too sweet and not too tart due to the lemon. I believe he did it perfectly. On top of that the macaroons are immaculate and the chocolate mouse is incredible. The espresso compliments the entire experience.
