Hidden gem alert! My family was on our way to a Yelp Elite event up in Spring, TX, and in true Yelp fashion, we decided to take the opportunity to try and support a local business with plans to write a review. So I did a search for Chinese food on Yelp nearby and voila! Noodle Kitchen we shall try. Now the ratings overall are good, but interestingly the vast majority of the reviews within the past year are all 5 stars. How is that possible? Could this place really be that good yet I've never tried it? The curiosity is killing you, I know. So let's dive in. Parking is always a big deal for me, and in this case, parking was no problem. It's a big parking lot with basically unlimited spots as it's in a large strip center. So far, so good. We arrived on a Saturday around 11:30 am hoping to beat the lunch rush - mission accomplished. We were the only ones there. Whenever I try a new Chinese restaurant that offers xiao long bao (AKA soup dumplings AKA XLB), I gotta try it. So we did. And it was excellent. The key is to suck the soup out of the hole on top. And If there is no hole, make one with a chopstick, and you won't spill the precious soup out of the dumpling. They also brought out the special XLB soy sauce with ginger. It was wonderful. Next we gotta get the beef noodle soup. And oh my, dare I say it: it might be the best I've ever had. Call me crazy, but don't call me crazy until you've tried it yourself. The broth was so rich and deep in flavor. I absolutely loved it. Zoom in on my photo. You'll salivate. The hot oil spill noodle was good but not great. I wish the noodles were hand-pulled like I'm used to (I'm spoiled, I know), but it was still good. And lastly, the crispy spicy fish fillet was quite good but a bit pricey and small in portion. The fish from Dumplings and Noodles by Cooking Girl is better, but the fish here is definitely something I would order again. So there you have it for food. Overall - very impressive and I would definitely come back and drive 45 minutes just for the braised beef noodle soup. The service was also really good. There was one older Asian lady who took care of us from beginning to end and she was great. Lastly the ambiance was surprisingly pleasant. Restaurant was spacious, clean, and they even have claw machines for entertainment. The big wonder is, for a restaurant so good, where are the customers? It was quite empty for a Saturday lunch, and we only saw a few to go orders while we were there. This is Spring's well-kept secret when it comes to Chinese food. Enjoy! read more

The server was really sweet and the food came out quick. The ambiance was very Chinese themed. The soup dumplings were piping hot and had a hole in the top to drink the soup from. The crispy spicy fish fillet was crispy and came with a side of rice. The hot oil spill noodles had great texture, and the sauce was delicious. The beef noodle soup was one of the best I've ever had, the broth had such a deep flavor and the noodles were perfect texture. It also came with extremely tender beef. Came here with my family for lunch around noon om a Sunday. We were the only table there and more tables were coming in by the time we left and to go orders. My sister ordered the beef noodle and pork soup dumplings. She said everything was really good. I don't eat pork, but I tried her soup and the broth and beef were amazing. I ordered the spicy shrimp and I rate it a 9/10. My son liked his chicken fried rice. I had to order a regular entree because that do not have a kid menu. The only reason why it wasn't a 5 is because the service was slow. There was only one person on all tables. Will Def be back to try other menu items. read more

delicious hidden gem in Spring with an abundance of vegetarian options! i ordered the general tsos tofu with noodles (instead of rice) and it was delicious! the general tsos sauce was different from any other i've had- its tangy but still delicious and you can tell everything is hand crafted. the noodles are very bouncy and delicious. the portions are generous. this is definitely worth the drive. my favorite way to end the meal is with the chocolate baos- they are flaky on the outside, but soft, warm, and gooey on the inside. there is plenty of parking. the inside is very clean and inviting. read more

OMG authentic soup dumpling (xiao long bao) foodies unite here at Noodle Kitchen. Searched out on Yelp on my way home after airport IAH. It's not on the way home for most people, but an indirect stop is a must for foodies. This is foodie food. Ordered the chicken soup dumplings. Comes with 6, in individual tin cups. When they remove the bamboo lid, lean forward and breathe in the smell of the fresh noodle. You'll want to savor that while they cool; it's the fresh daily homemade noodle. Then make that small bite into the noodle and slurp out the soup. Wow is the only response there! Lastly, chew into the dough to open the noodle and delight in the ground chicken and such inside. A lovely sauce comes with for this part. It was so good, I decided to also order the pork soup dumplings and try them before taking the rest home. Pork and chicken equally great. They are beautifully sculpted and expertly prepared. This is a must go. I'll drive a half hour to Noodle Kitchen for these soup dumplings-no problem! Beautiful food for the eyes, and delicious in the soul. Go. I loved the soup dumplings and they had a number of different flavors. They also had a number of different hand stuff dumplings. We got the 3 flavor combo, veggie, pork and chicken. They were tasty. The wantons in the soup were good, but I found that the broth had a heavy seafood flavor. Everything came out relatively fast. And it was really affordable. I loved this place! My Tonkotsu Ramen was delicious with thick noodles and a creamy broth. My Friends Ramen was good but in his words "no flavor just spice" . We had a nice waitress who was trying her best to accommodate us while also being a hostess and dealing with to go orders. Very nice people and small place so it doesnt feel crowded. My girlfriend invited me to lunch and I asked her to choose the place since she had an appointment at 3pm. She stumbled upon Noodle Kitchen while doing some research. I must say, this place is a hidden gem. I'm so glad she found Noodle Kitchen, it's so close to my home. If you are looking for typically Chinese food, like orange chicken and general tso chicken, I believe you are looking at the wrong place. Although they have those dishes here, they offer so much more! Plumped Xiao Long Bao and Peking duck! I find the xiao long bao were wrapped thinly (just how I like them) and filled with soup. The Peking duck comes in half or whole order and they do not offer the buns, instead they offered the thin pancakes to wrap the Peking duck. Save you a little bit of carbs! The restaurant was quiet with Chinese melodies songs. Clean and quick service. Spoke to the young waiter and he stated they have been open two years. This place is authentic Chinese cuisine! Food here is good, although service is a bit lackluster. There's only one waiter and he does not understand much English--but you can get by with pointing. We ordered the pork xiao long bao which was super juicy and came out hot. They did not have soup spoons though, so we were struggling a bit to eat it. The spicy lan zhou beef noodle was not anything great and seemed to be missing some flavors. The cumin beef was super yummy and had lots of flavor. The beef was tender and the portion size was large. The Orange Chicken tried its best to salvage the evening, earning the title of "best of the bunch" by default. However, even this noble dish couldn't escape the clutches of culinary chaos. The crispy bits were staging a mutiny, abandoning ship faster than you can say "chopsticks," and the chicken pieces had a peculiar chewiness that left us questioning if we were dining on poultry or some mysterious hybrid. The meat was so white that the jury's still out on whether it was real chicken breast or a clever disguise of minced-up poultry with a breadcrumb coating. Oh, and did I mention the unexpected hickory-flavored encore? Because apparently, our Orange Chicken decided to put on a smoky show on the backend. A taste adventure, to say the least, scoring a 3.8 out of 5 on the "What did I just eat?" scale. Now, let's talk about the Beef Fried Noodle, or as I like to call it, the BFN - Big Food Nope. One bite into this dish, and it felt like I was chewing on culinary disappointment. It's as if the chef got carried away with the seasoning, sprinkling it on like confetti at the end and forgetting to let it mingle with the rest of the ingredients. Gritty, dry, and a beef cameo that was as bland as a high school graduation speech - not my idea of a flavor party. The Bao Dumplings and I decided to keep a safe distance from each other, judging by the fam's reaction. I mean, if a picture is worth a thousand words, their expressions were a Shakespearean tragedy. Small, clean and authentic Chinese noodle house with freshly made noodles. Service is decent although spotty at times and I'm not crazy about the tip suggestions of 20, 22 and 25% (just pay your staff/family livable wages), however, the food was very good. We started with 2 orders of the soup dumplings; one crab and one pork. They came out pretty quickly and were very good. The dumpling itself was tender and hot, but held together well enough to contain an ample amount of soup and meat. I could probably eat 4-5 orders of these on my own, they're so good and go down so easily. My next favorite dish was the hot oil spill noodles. Big, fat, thicc house made noodles nestled under sprouts, cilantro, some green bells, match stick carrots and broccoli, topped of course with lots of hot chili flake and oil. Tossed together it was a delicious, smoky, spicy, noodly mess of goodness. The only thing I would change is maybe adding some meat to it which I may ask for on the next one. Mongolian beef had generous portions of sweet and savory beef on top of fresh, chewy spaghetti noodles. I ordered through Uber eats so maybe in person the food is a bit different however the general Tsos chicken was very different from what I am used to. Their version of it simply isn't good. It's like string chicken if I were to describe it. I wasn't a fan of it at all. The beef braised soup was decent. The broth was good however the pics on Uber eats showed the beef to be bone in beef. This wasn't bone in. If it was bone in I suspect it would have been much better. We enjoyed our time at this family owed restaurant. Ordered soup dumplings, Mongolian beef and a spicy tonkatsu ramen. Everything was delicious except for the tonkotsu noodles. Seems like the food is made to be shared. This was way too much food for 2 people and we had leftovers. The soup dumplings were amazing. Fresh and tasty. The Mongolian beef had so much flavor and came with a side of white rice. The ramen was super bland, I added chili oil and sriracha from the table but still no flavor. The chili oil at the table was just not spicy at all. There was no wait to be seated and plenty of parking up front. We saw a lot of Uber eats sort of orders getting picked up. This place is in a sparsely populated strip off Louetta and Kuykendahl, next to Ceviche Ria (excellent ceviche). There aren't many options if you're looking for this type of food without going to Chinatown or other Asian areas. The meat dumplings were OK, but I found the filling to be a bit too crumbly/grainy. The hand-pulled noodles are excellent and would highly recommend orrdering. They're thick, wide and bouncy. The scallion pancakes are also a must -- perfectly flaky and crispy. And to end your meal, please do yourself a favor and order these chocolate baos. They're fried, dusted with sugar, with melted chocolate and chocolate chips inside. As we are still getting our feet wet with Chinese cuisine we decided to try Noodle Kitchen and play it safe with a couple appetizers to begin with not realizing that they were very filling. We got the crispy Peking duck bao it was nice and crisp on the outside, warm and filled with yummy goodness on the inside. 10/10 would recommend. Also got the steamed BBQ chicken bao (it was a special item) perfectly steamed. Nice texture, very soft yet slightly firm outside and flavorful chicken filling. 10/10 would recommend. The service was great. My husband and I went around lunch time and the staff was friendly and food came out fast and fresh! The sweet and sour fish dish was good. It had a fluffy carbonated fry batter like the one for fish and chips. The sweet and slightly sour red sauce heavily coated the many fried pieces but didn't weight them down. There was only (1) chopped piece of steamed broccoli to decorate the dish. I wonder if it's because people throw away the vegetables or that's the type of dish it is. A tiny bowl of rice accompanies the dish. I think you may be able to request another bowl, but it may depend on your server. I asked my waiter, and I was able to get one for the other half of my dish that I was taking home. The sauce doesn't taste that good as leftovers. The spicy dumplings were steaming when they arrive at the table. It has a good mix of spices and vinegar. I heard great things about this place, my family wanted to try it for a birthday dinner. Walking in, it feels like a hole in the wall place which can go either way of being really good or bad. Unfortunately it was bad for this place. Upon arrival we were told to sit where we wanted. We sat at a family style table. It looked clean from the distance but it wasn't. There was sauce marks on the table and the silverware even had dried food stuck to it. When we told the worker about the dirty table she grabbed a wet towel from a bucket sitting on the floor to clean. She puts the towel back in bucket and I realize the same bucket used to clean is same bucket that collects whatever is dirty on the table. Even though it was kind of new the chairs felt like they have been there for years. The window that shows part of the back, showed how messy or unorganized it was back there. Boxes of items most randomly stacked. The food was ok. I'm not sure if it's cause we choose the wrong kind of food but it wasn't great, maybe decent? Fried rice was heavy on the oil which left lot of grease at the bottom of plate. The sweet sour chicken was more breading than chicken. The dry fried greens beans would have been good if the spice level didn't overcome it. It may be good for those who like heavy spice but meh. The soup dumplings were good for the place. One of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in North Houston. The xiao long bao truly impressed me, very generous with the meat filling and soup... delicious! We were given orange chicken on accident but we ended up still enjoying it! Very crispy and good balance of batter and chicken. The sauce wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and had a nice citrusy tang to it. I forgot to take a picture of the beef noodle soup but that was delicious as well. A few of my friends were in town and were inexperienced with Chinese food. Of course, I had to find the most authentic China restaurant in town as Panda Express will not work. Noodle Kitchen was the perfect spot with its loud and bustling crowds and the lazy susans for a long evening of family portion dishes. The atmosphere and decor could have fooled me into thinking I was at a local restaurant out in Guangzhou. We ordered as much as we can from the menu to provide a vibrant experience for our guests. From Pork, chicken, and crab soup dumplings to fried beef, pork bao, mapo tofu, hot and sour fish, scallion pancakes and Mongolian beef, each dish was as it SHOULD be. With the perfect amount of spice in the mapo tofu and the flavor oozing out of the hot and sour fish dish, I was extremely proud I was able to provide this for our guests. My only gripe was the soup dumplings. The skin was overly thick and chewy. It distracted me from the flavors of the meat and soup as I was wrestling with it in my mouth. I am not sure if the standard for the skin should be thinner, like a Din Tai Fung variety? The service was lightning fast. This is the type of meal that's hard to find outside of Chinatown. Stopped in for a nonchalant mid-week meal and was impressed by the hospitality & flavor! While the establishment itself is casual & low-key (perfect for an any-day-of-the-week sort of visit), the food is spectacular. I'm thrilled to find hand-pulled noodles and soup dumplings (xiao long bao) north of the city... It was our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last.
