We both had colds and what is better than wonton soup and Jasmine tea for a cold. Of course, I had to have my fried wontons too. They were good, but not the best and were strictly cream cheese and only warm, not piping hot. We shared a Chef's Special of Chicken, Beef, Shrimp and Scallops with veggies in a dark sauce. It is odd to see some of the reviews that say the food has no flavor. EVERYTHING I have tried at Mei Wei has been very good! My litmus test for Chinese food is the fried rice. The fried rice is excellent! Probably the best I've ever had. Other menu items we've tried include the General Tso chicken/shrimp, Kung Pao shrimp/beef, Lo mein, Mongolian Beef, Szechuan beef....everything has been excellent. Give it a shot! read more

I was craving curry, but my family isn't a fan of Thai, so we decided to try Mei Wei. Ordering process was a little weird, but it was ready quickly and were appreciative of that The fried rice, orange chicken, potstickers and won ton soup were all at or above expectations. The tofu panang curry did not taste at all like curry and even after doctoring it up I was pretty disappointed. The lo mein and broccoli beef were very bland and had an unusual taste. The tempura shrimp had a pancake batter-like consistency and was very greasy. Overall, we agreed we would not order from there again. read more

I don't like to leave negative reviews. I haven't ever. I like to be positive and promote good places. I don't want to hurt anyone's income. I worked in food and beverage for 10 years. I get it. I've enjoyed mei wei for years, both as take out and eat in. Tonight, my tea was served cold, I received a different soup than ordered, and my eggplant dish (which had never come with green peppers, which I hate , before) had more green peppers than eggplant. My dining companion's Mongolian beef was fine. I tried to express my frustration at the desk as someone who had happily eaten here for years, and was told "sorry". I guess it's going downhill and the management no longer cares if you get what is ordered, which makes me sad. There are two new places locally; will try those :( read more

New to the area so I thought I'd pop in on the way home to check it out. The place was deserted so I thought I'd be able to get quick service. I was wrong. I was ignored for about 5 minutes while the front desk took phone orders and some dude behind the bar stared at his phone. Finally someone walked in from the rear and greeted me with all the alacrity of a funeral home director. We usually can judge how the experience of an Asian restaurant by the number of Asians eating or working there and this place was whiter than a side of steamed rice. Been here about 20 minutes now so I thought I'd vent. I'll let you know if the food is worth it.... Since it was my first time here I figured I'd start with some basic standby so I had the General 臭 chicken with pork fried rice. Definitely not worth to lack of customer service. my family has been coming for more than 5 years. last week my husband, son and me came for lunch. we noticed that only one waiter was tending to all the tables. when he came to take our order he was rude and told us not ask questions to hurry and tell him what we wanted! we weren't going to ask questions but he was noticeably upset and took it out on us. needless to say we got up and left and told him that it was not the way to treat customers. we will not be returning. read more

This review was during Covid but we frequently dined in before. The food is always good and has a very nice presentation, which I appreciate. For takeout, the food was hot and ready to go when you pull up. We never had to wait. We love the egg rolls, chicken lo mein, chicken fried rice, orange chicken, general Tao chicken and the chicken with yellow curry. We have tried a lot of other dishes but these are our go to ones. Time: 12/25/18 - Christmas Evening I moved to California a couple days before Christmas, and didn't really have any plans for dinner. Mei Wei is down the street from our apartment and it is one of the only places that was open on Christmas Night which was a life saver for my husband and I that still had an empty fridge. We didn't eat in so, I can't speak too much on the wait staff but they were very friendly at the entrance while we ordered our take out. As for the food, my first experience was okay. Honey Walnut Shrimp is usually my favorite and I've never had a bad experience ordering it at other restaurants but this was the first time I ordered it that I didn't really "love" it. Haven't been back since but I think I'd still be willing to give it another try though. read more

Should have taken the reviews more seriously! My husband and I really wanted to order from somewhere that delivered so we decided to give Mei Wei a try for dinner tonight. Both of us ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and when taking the boxes out of the bag they were completely covered in oily sauce. There was at least a cup of oily water in the bottom of the bag. The Pad Thai itself was also the worst I have ever had. The sauce has no flavor at all and really just tastes like oil. They did give a big sized portion for the price but we certainly won't be ordering from here again. read more

We ordered delivery and to my surprise the food arrived pretty quick AND it was really good. I guess I thought it was going to be drenched in sauce like some places so I wasn't really expecting it to be as good as it was. We all shared our food but I ordered the Shrimp, Chicken and Vegetables (listed under the "healthy menu") and it was delicious! They were definitely not skimpy with the chicken or shrimp and the shrimp were pretty big. If anything I would say that they needed more vegetables bc there was so much chicken but that was fine with me, I'm more of a carnivore anyway. I also tasted the Sesame Chicken and I actually liked it bc it wasn't too sweet and bathed in sauce. The string beans were just string beans. Nothing special but they were good. The dumplings were pretty big compared to some of the places that I've ordered them from and they were also good. I've never dined in but I would order delivery from here again. read more

The steak teriyaki was a poor choice of meat, very fatty and over cooked , the flavor was very pungent like Indian curry then a Chinese version of teriyaki.. The food is great like always. 2 stars due to staff and music. Waitress was rude. She would not speak to us each time she approached the table. I order from here probably once a week. It is the best take out Chinese food I've found in the woodlands area. I also don't like crab so the cheese rangoons are amazing and really hard to find at other places. Everything I've tried from here has been good but the orange chicken is my favorite. Wow just wow ,they will steal your money and pretend like it's your fault guys please stay away from this restaurant, unless your okay with giving free money away. Today I called for "take out" , from this restaurant I thought everything was fine and as I give my card number to the gentleman on the phone just like normal, not even 4 minutes later he told me that the card was declined, first thing I thought was let me check my account, because I seriously thought it was my fault , so long story short I called my bank and I had well over enough in my account. So I sat there puzzled ? So I called again and he told me the same thing once again "card declined" ? Quickly I drove there after another call and physical checking my account and everything was okay with my account ....... But then I realized that they took out the transaction, so I bounce into the restaurant, to ask why was money taken out of my account and why did they lie about the decline transaction ? The older gentleman told me , it's not there fault and they refused to give me a refund and didn't even give me my damn food that I payed for ...... What the hell ,!!!!!
