Spicy beef ramen
Jermaine M.

I got the spicy beef ramen, I definitely recommend asking it for less spicy like I did due to it being more numbing then spicy. I agree with the other comments saying it could use so more flavor. We also ordered the Gyoza which was good. While the food was good I gave it a 4/5 due to the service. We never got our waters refilled, she didn't really check up on us much either. I did see her attending other party's but refilling beverages is important and if she is busy that could of been communicated.

First time trying ajisen ramen (they have many locations)! We tried their pork original, ajisen original, and their gyoza as an appetizer. I found the food to be quite average - not the best ramen I've ever had, but still good (its the tonkatsu broth). Tasty and savoury, but not as rich as I'd like it to be and a little greasy-like. Noodles and egg were okay too. Forgot to take a picture of the gyoza - they were okay, wish they were more crispy. Service was okay too - food came out quick (ramen came out before the gyoza). Liked the decor inside the restaurant though - had a large display on the wall of fancy bowls!

A bowl of savory, delicious and hot comfort food. Especially on a cold winter's day, this is the perfect meal! Highly recommend the original pork ramen!

This place is one of many restaurants in the corridor but open later than most (12am). Food (2.5/5) - I guess I have been spoiled by Musoshin and Isshin as there was no comparison to them. Had the Shoyu Sliced Pork Ramen and it was pretty weak. Noodles tasted like Sapporo Ichiban packaged ones. Pork was tougher and chewy. Broth was on the bland side. Service (4/5) - was seated fairly quickly and servers were attentive. Atmosphere (3.5/5) - it's a open concept cafeteria style with tables and some booths. Bright and open. Overall (3/5) - it gets props for late hours but the ramen was below average in my opinion. No repeat for me.

I came here because they were having a 50% off of their original ramen. The place had lots of seatings but they were super busy so I recommend coming early to avoid waiting for a table. The ramen was quite salty and oily for my liking. I wish it had more pork slices too. I would like to come back and try their other ramen. Hopefully, it won't be as salty and greasy as the original one. We ordered the takoyaki as well.

It was my first time trying the Tom Yum ramen. It was so good if you're a fan of spicy food! I didn't want to eat any meat at that moment, so I got the vegan harvest. Actually, it was quite expensive. Just some corn, broccoli, and kikurage cost me $18.99. But the tom yum broth was really good and paired perfectly with the ramen. It was spicy but also so flavorful. My hubby also ordered the tom yum ramen with grilled shrimp. The shrimps were okay and he liked the broth more.

- steak ramen, curry rice are meh, there are many better options - takoyaki is average - service is good - spacious seating - cannot understand why serves with broken bowls which are dangerous and look bad

Amazing food. I love it. Service could be a little bit better. But everything else seem great. Could be busy sometime

I've eaten here a few times in the past as well and overall like this place. The restaurant is conveniently on Yonge and usually paid street parking is available close to the place. Inside, the space feels chaotic and slightly crammed, but also warm and welcoming at the same time, the decor is minimal, one wall is just a display of soup bowls but they end up looking pretty, you'll feel like popping one off the wall taking it home. The tables can seat 4 or 6, larger groups might have to seat at separate tables. The servers communicate well. They won't engage in too many pleasantries but they're polite and Service is quick and so nothing to complain about in that area. The food is what we return to this place for. The broth is delicious, the noodles are well cooked, the meat and vegetables are tasty. There are options for spicy broth as well and it is delicious. The quantity is just right for one person, sometimes you might come home with a small serving of leftover as well. We also ordered Karage chicken and corn, the chicken was well cooked and the corn was nicely done. We spent about $25-$30 per head for a stomach full of dinner. I'll go to this place again, it remains as enjoyable on repeat visits.

Went here with the family and I was glad we did as they had many options to pick from as we all like different flavors. Service was minimal but food came out in a timely manner and portions were great as everyone left the store with a full stomach. Taste was above average as well.

4.5! Deelish! Got a spicy one but replaced with mala base. I asked for less spicy but it's still hella spicy!!!! So delicious though. If you're ordering the mala base just know that it has a numbing sensation! Beef was sooooo flavourful and yum!

There are 3 options in tipping in Ajisen Ramen. In %, 12,15 &20. The supervisor said new system. Bullshit, it is requested by the restsurant to the bank. It is not mandatory to tip in Ontario. https://settlement.org/ontario/daily-life/shopping/shopping-basics/do-people-tip-in-ontario-how-much-should-i-tip/ They overcharged me for tipping. Tipping must be calculated from the base price (before tax) not after tax. Next time, I will not pay for tipping .

My friend had the King of Kings as our server said this is one of their most popular choices. I opted for the Spicy Charsu. Now I understand some people can't handle heat but I live off of Purple Tongue hot sauce which is made with some pretty hot peppers. I asked for a level one and the lady explained that the spice level on the Charsu was a whole series of levels higher than the King of Kings. I get that . Give me the heat. Anywho, she was comfortable with giving me 0.5 but said I could make it hotter if need be. Ok, better to start smaller I guess. They put some sauce on the side which I added to my bowl. Personally I found the 0.5 a nice tingle; it was good. Made my nose run. But I'm totally getting the level 1 next time. My friend however tried a sip of my broth, spit it out and said poison poison because of the heat Mind you, his King of Kings was a level 1. Which to me tasted creamy and delicious. I love a good pork bone soup and I opted for the Spicy Charsu because of the pork bone base. I loved the broth. It was perfection. The noodles were so fresh . The portion size was enormous. I kept eating and more noodles appeared. The Charsu had an amazing flavor to it . Smoky and delicious . My friend is a larger man and even he commented on the portion size saying he would be ok with a smaller size as he was so full. Good portions for your money. We also had the Gyoza and the TakoYaki. The TakoYaki was soft and loaded with the delicious sauce. The Gyoza were enormous. We were both 100% satisfied with our visit and will be back for sure.

The concerned server told me that it may be painful, but being the chili head that I am, I gladly took on the challenge. It was a larger bowl than their regular size and my ramen came topped with lots of corn, some mushrooms, bean sprouts and 6 large pieces of chasu. The broth was magma red, but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it was spicy but not to the point where it would warrant a warning. The spicy broth tasted like a mix of Buldak sauce and Capsaicin, but didn't have much depth. I finished my ramen, broth and all and enjoyed most of the experience. The least favorite was the chasu and the egg as chasu did not taste fresh, and I could not taste the char on them at all. The egg was over-cooked and under marinated which was disappointing. It's still one of the few ramen options in Durham but can't say it's comparable to the other Kenzo locations.

Reach ten stamps and you get a free bowl of ramen. - The chashu is excellent! My rating is 4.5 stars. I'm rounding down. Last Tuesday, I had my monthly 7 am meeting with a bunch of technical writing peers from around the world. It's quite the meeting that typically lasts for four hours. Luckily, we ended earlier than usual. It meant that my workday ended at around 3:30 pm. It was perfect, as I had a concert to attend several hours later. Normally, I don't do dinner before a concert. I grab a quick bite to each before I head downtown. This time, since I was done work early, I felt that having an early dinner was worthwhile. I drove downtown and parked in a lot that seems to be my usual spot whenever I'm attending a concert at Massey Hall. My original plan was to find an eatery close to the concert venue. I spotted Hokkaido Ramen Santouka steps away. I wanted ramen! I walked in and there was a sign that said to wait. I had no wait time. A woman and the entire staff greeted me. I asked for a table for me and got one. It was great. Seating between tables and diners is close together. You definitely overhear conversations and you can't help it. The man next to me had stretched his foot under my table. I didn't notice that he was in my space until I uncrossed my leg and my foot hit his. I listened to two friends next to me. The man seemed to take charge over what he and his female friend should eat, which was interesting. He gave the impression that he was an expert until the server came over and he had a ton of questions. It's always fun being an observer and listener. I had no choice but to listen to her dating experiences. I got a menu. I knew what I wanted. My server came over and was ready to take my order. I got these items: - Diet Coke - Miso chachu ramen, with bamboo shoot held - Jammy egg and corn as extra toppings The menu doesn't tell you what ingredients you get in each type of ramen. However, it does come with a photo. I asked how large a large bowl of ramen was. My server was great pointing up to a display of three bowls. I went large. The photo indicated that my miso ramen had bamboo shoots. I'm not a fan of them, so I asked that they be omitted. I also added a jammy egg and corn. I got a cold can of Diet Coke. A frosted glass with ice accompanied it. I was happy. I love an icy cold drink. This one was excellent. I loved that it was extra cold. My bowl of ramen had arrived. I was excited to dive in. My miso chachu ramen was delicious. The miso flavour was on point. I drank most of the broth, which speaks volumes on how yummy it was. The chachu was tender and had the best balance of pork and fattiness. The number of slices was generous. The ramen was chewy and perfectly done. I loved the corn and jammy egg. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed my ramen without these two key toppings. They worked nicely with the green onions. What prevents me from giving this place a perfect rating is flagging a server to get me water, or to frankly flag any staffer for something, such as ordering dessert or getting the bill. It took effort and hand-waving to get their attention. It took two tries to get a glass of water with ice. I was happy when I got some after I had finished my Diet Coke. It was equally as cold and yummy. I ordered dessert. The menu is stuck on each table. I asked what ice cream flavours were available. There were two flavours and I went with matcha. It was rich, creamy, and full of strong matcha flavour. The scoop of ice cream was generous. I loved the small spoon, which allowed this dessert to last a lot longer. I asked for the bill. I got a payment machine. I used my credit card to pay and tip. All was great. I used the washroom before I headed over to explore the downtown area. The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so accessibility is an issue. There are two single-stall washrooms. The one that I used was clean. Because it's an older building, the ceiling is low. I am just shy of six feet in height. I made it without hitting my head on the ceiling. If you are six feet and taller, you'll need to duck to make sure you don't bang your head. Staff say goodbye to you when you leave. It was a nice touch, although I don't know what they are saying to me in Japanese. They could be swearing at me and I wouldn't know. I had a wonderful experience here. If you don't mind sitting close to folks and waving your arms like a maniac to get your server's attention, come here. This ramen joint appeared as a Michelin place in 2017. I can see why. The food quality is excellent. (200)

Soon after we sat down, the restaurant filled up with other patrons which is a good sign. However I also judge a restaurant based on its cleanliness and the washrooms leave much to be desired. If a restaurant's washrooms aren't clean, it gives you a window into how dirty the kitchen and back of house are. The washrooms are in a serious need of a cleaning. There is black filth on the white doors, everything has a bit of a grime covering multiple surfaces. Overall, the food is delicious, I would return but maybe for take-out next time.
