This is my first time trying a Peruvian food place so I just went with the most popular dish. The food was delicious, and on top of that it came with two pieces of bread and a small soup. The beef is well cooked and seasoned, it just tastes so good with the onion! And this is coming from someone who usually doesn't like onions on some foods like burgers. The Arroz Chaufa was decent, I was expecting a little different since it is modeled after Chinese Food, but to be honest, it was a little better the following day as a leftover and I added some Soy Sauce...wasn't any leftover after that, it was delicious. The Lomo Saltado was pretty standard...what you would expect if you've had it before. My two favorites were the Arroz de Mariscos which was phenomenal, the Tallarines de Mariscos. Cravings are real when I dream about Lomo Saltado in my sleep, wake up, and immediately begin searching for a new Peruvian restaurant to eat for lunch. My boyfriend and I ordered our typical go-to dishes we get from all Peruvian joints: Mixed Ceviche, Lomo Saltado and Parihuela. Free bread came with each dish we ordered and it was incredibly soft! Green sauce here is good and comparable to other restaurants. I just wish their red sauce was more of a dipping sauce rather than hot sauce. Mixed Ceviche was delicious! They gave us additional corn nuts, sauce and limes on the side so that was a bonus. 5/5 Lomo Saltado flavor was on point! The beef was a bit on the tough side so next time I will ask them to cook it a little less. 4/5 Parihuela was full of mussels, squid, fish and a large prawn. The soup was perfect for the cold weather and was still piping hot after our 20 minute drive home. 5/5 Overall, it was easy to order over the phone for pick up and parking was easy. Aji Verde is the newest player in the Peruvian restaurant game in the Long Beach area and the quality at an affordable price hits a home run. Who? Me. What? Aji Verde. Where? North east corner of Alondra and Downey in the two story building. When? They opened a few weeks ago during the pandemic. Why? They have great Peruvian food to share with everyone. They have many items printed on their colorful menu, something for everybody. Appetizers, beef, chicken, seafood, vegetarian, pasta, desserts, sides and drinks. Lunch specials lists Monday thru Friday 10 am to 3 pm except holidays but check as the cashier said it is 10:30 am. They don't have senior citizen discounts but their 20 lunch specials look like a good meal deal without one. Some or most dinner meals seem to include plain rolls, mixed salad, small chicken soup, and generous tubs of the spicy hot aji verde green sauce. My tastebuds like a minimum of salt, less sugar, but no forehead sweating, nose tingling, stomach burning hot spices. My well aged system can't handle those. Regular spices are fine. Some call it bland. Some call it tasteless. Some will give it zero stars or less but I like to taste the true essence of the natural ingredients first before any overpowering hot spices or condiment sizzles my system so this restaurant suits me fine as I enjoy the flavors of each entree. I can't handle hot spicy jalapeno peppers in the aji verde green sauce but maybe I'll mix in a bit more mayonnaise and EVOO to the takeout tubs to help lower the level of spiciness. Arroz con pollo wasn't dry and had a great rotisserie skin color and evenly flavored white breast meat, and the finely chopped cilantro in the flavored rice gave it a pleasant mild taste. Salad had a good mix of fresh vegetables. Dressing was mouth puckering and citrusy. Pollo con vegetales was perfect with a huge portion of sautéed chicken mixed with lots of vegetables served with rice. Price went up 5 cents from the menu. The dinner menu pricing is nearly double in price compared to the lunch pricing but you won't go hungry for at least a couple of days. ;) Portions are generous so don't fret. read more

We were in the mood for some Peruvian and found Aji Verde down the street in a business plaza. Ordered lomo saltado & ceviche. The complimentary aguadito & bread rolls were SO GOOD. The rolls were fresh and warm and the soup hit the spot. Service was fast and great. I was more confused as to why it wasn't busy at all. This restaurant is so underrated and I'm a fan. I had the 1/2 Pollo with white rice and salad takeout... it was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised that we also got soup and rolls. Everything was delicious! I almost ate the entire meal (half chicken) by myself, but forced myself to stop before I over ate (that good)! The green sauce is spicy hot (loved it). This is my go-to Peruvian spot! I haven't dined in, but I've ordered pickup or delivery via Postmates. I've never had to wait long to get my food and the staff are very welcoming. If you're dining in, there is a parking lot with ample amount of spots. The food always tastes fresh and the portions are great for the price in my opinion. I'll start off by saying the service was impeccable, we got here a few minutes early but manager welcomed us with a smile and sat us down. The ambiance was very authentic and warm. Fresh warm bread was brought to our table immediately and they had a verde salsa on the table that was next level! Then a chicken soup that I'm sorry to say would put my grandma's to shame (sorry nana). HORRIBLE SERVICE. Took my mom for her bday because we had our neighbors talk about this place. All of our Food was cold. 5 meals+. Mind you they made us wait over 20 min for it. REALLY, do these people not know that ANY businesses survive because of US the customers. All employees there have a job because of US THE CUSTOMERS. Won't be going there EVER again!
