I know it shows I gave Ray's company a 1 star, but I'll share what I give him 5 stars for. I give Ray 5 stars for being a liar. For selling himself on a service and product and never seeing anything in return. I give him a 10/10 for gaslighting and making people think he's actually going to work after taking their money. I'd 100% recommend him if you're looking for a scammer. For portraying himself as a Christian person, but he steals from trusting people. I give him 5 stars for giving excuse after excuse and ultimately never delivering on his word. If you're looking for someone with a receding hairline, yellow teeth, a turkey neck with deep, sun damaged wrinkles that age him an extra 20 yrs and who has to scam people to pay for his untalented kids then he's your guy. His name is tarnished from San Diego to Yuma and Ray's been a failure in the HVAC and solar industry. If it were possible to provide negative stars to this company, I would. This may be the worst company in California. To make a long story short, we have a warranty on units this company installed. They need service. We have been trying to get the company to make repairs honoring the warranty. No reply. When we finally receive a reply, he doesn't have an appointment for three weeks out on July 12. We confirm July 12 knowing how dishonest this guy is. And then find out (after my not accepting work on that date due to this long standing appointment), that his tech can't come due to another job. And since that ....no reply to reschedule or make any effort to come out for the service despite multiple requests including those from the Better Business Bureau. Taking this now to the Attorney General and making sure everyone knows not to use this company EVER! read more

We were hired as a subcontractor to perform a control installation for AirFlow on a project. The base contract work was performed and completed by both our company and AirFlow. AirFlow was paid in full by the customer for the initial work, but kept the entire amount and did not pay us. We still have not been compensated for the original contract work we completed performed in July 2021. Over $10,000.00 is owed to us. There was additional work required on the project after the initial work was completed and a change order that was generated. All the additional work was completed and billed. We had been unable to collect on our initial invoice so we were required to contact the customer and have them cut a 2 party check so we were guaranteed to be paid for the change order work. Air Flow still refuses to pay for our initial work although they had already billed and been paid. Ray now refuses to answer our calls. I would look at the the professionalism of someone like this and consider using someone else. We will never work with Ray again. Please verify the contractors license prior to proceeding with any work. read more

Ray and his crewman Greg are some very nice guys to work with. They installed the AC unit in 2018 in the house we just bought in 2021. They honor their warranty and it is 100% transferable to the current owner. Not only do they provide good customer service from the beginning, but they always have a great attitude and a can-do response for all your AC needs. Even in their busiest time if the year, they still make us feel valued and though the stack of jobs are accruing, they put their best foot forward and try their hardest to take care of your needs as soon as they can. Stay away from Ray & Airflow. His website says he's BBB accredited, in fact he's not & has an F rating. When installing an AC unit, he didn't glue the pipes together inside the walls. Water leaked inside, down to the slab, making our hardwood floors swell & buckle. We had to replace the entire floor. Before that & tried to install the unit outside with damage. Granted it was just a bent vent, but we paid for a new unit, I want it to look new. Or at very least, tell us about it before you install it. **UPDATE** I'm not sure if Airflow complained about my post, or the photo I had attached, but after all this time, Yelp now takes down that photo. It was a photo from this company's website posting a BBB logo, when in fact they are not backed by the BBB. Do not engage the services of this company under any circumstances. Ray was recommended to me by a neighbor and I called when my air conditioner wasn't working. It took several weeks for them to get out and look at the unit. After diagnosing the problem, he recommended replacing the unit. He needed a deposit of almost $4,000.00 to order the part and do the repair, which I paid in good faith. Fast forward two months, many text messages and phone calls from me to Ray and the work still hasn't been done in spite of his many promises and excuses (via text). He has never once answered my phone calls and rarely responds to my texts. Next stop...legal action. read more

What great prompt and courteous service. Called to set up an appt and Ray responded very quickly. Had quote within a day and scheduled work for the following week. Quoted price is where I thought it would be (no surprises). Chris and Greg were the technicians and they performed their work efficiently and followed the COVID-19 protocols, which was great to see (without being asked to follow them). The real test will come when it gets hot to see that the dampers are balanced correctly (couldn't get a proper feel for it on this cool day today). I had the good fortune of having Ray (the owner) in my home for the purpose of correcting some issues left behind from a previous installer of a company that didn't stand behind their install. Ray was on-time, very reasonably priced, performed the work very efficiently and cleaned up when he was done. Every issue that needed attention was addressed and after 7 years I finally have the heater working as it always should have been. Ray was professional, knowledgeable, and able to provide an estimate and fix the repairs the same day. His pricing was in line with another company that quoted me - although he found more things to fix than the other company did so he seems to do better quality work. Additionally, Ray honored a poorly worded yelp discount (apparently yelp personnel write them up) even though it was intended for a system install and not a service call. This guy is a total crook. Stay away! We paid him for a heating and air system last year at our contractor's (at the time) urging. We ended up using a different contractor who wanted to use his own guy. By law the person who you buy the system from must install. So we asked first if he would mind refunding us so we can go with our contractor's sub. He said yes, no problem. But never sent the $$. Should have know.... Ray helped me on a small issue previously, so I contacted him again when I negotiated with my landlord to install air conditioning in the condo I rent. The installation went smoothly, with Ray taking great care to place the compressor in a way that would be acceptable to the HOA. He tested everything afterwards and made sure I understood what he had done and how to operate the system. He also noticed that the current air filter in the furnace was the wrong size, and told me what size was needed. We were having issues with our heater kicking on so we called Ray! He said he could make it out by 1 to take a look at our problem. He checked it out and tried to fix it with just using the settings but realized there was something wrong with the thermostat as a whole. Unfortunately Ray, you know this comment is untruthful. The only persons who went into the attic was your employee when he had to replace the fan shroud that you damaged during install. No one entered our attic space besides yourself and your worker prior to this condensation leak. Also, the only reason you came out was because we found your faulty wiring job in our brandnew breaker box, which had arched and thank god, didn't start a fire. Your partial payment your speaking of was supposed to be the first of several to pay us back for our insurance deductable, which you agreed to pay in full. I have all the messages to show you agreed to pay that deductable. If you had just made good on your word we would not have to have taken this to small claims. read more

Our job started out to be a 3 day job, installing a complete system, well as of now it's been a month and it's still not done. The technician only shows up around 4:00 in the afternoon if he shows up at all and when he does he only works for about 1 hour. From day one of this job, they have never been on time per the time quote they give, sometimes up to 3 hours late without as much as a phone call. Absolutely no communication between the Bosses, the technicians, or the customer. Only after showing up 2 hours later than they said, I had ran to the store real quick, only to have them then call to say hey were here where are you ? Seriously, this is not how you run a business. If this was'nt my husband's business deal, I would of cancelled the job on day one when they showed up an hour and a half late. It seems that our job is nothing more than an after thought or they would be here during regular work hours instead of at night. Ray seems nice enough and apologizes for how long it's taking but whatever the problem is he has'nt shared the reason with us which makes it very hard to understand where their coming from. On top of everything so far, it's like freezing at night and into the morning, it would be nice to have heat. We have been very patient so far and if they would just show up one day at a decent hour, the job would be done, but to no avail. Don't recommend this company by any means. read more

Our furnace died a couple of weeks ago and Ray was the only person we contacted who was able to come by that day to check it out. Everyone else either wouldn't call us back, referred us to another company or told us they didn't have any available appointments for a week. Hats off to Ray of Airflow! This past Sunday it was a sweltering 103 and our AC quit. It was operating but no cold air, just noise. I left a message for Ray at 3:00 and he immediately returned my call and listened patiently to my ranting. He was there within 20 minutes and started work on it right away. Long story short, it wasn't anything mechanical. We'd been running it nearly nonstop for three days and it shut off as a safety measure so it wouldn't overheat. He left a gauge on it for the next few days to make certain it was running properly. We don't use our AC much, even in Santee, but when we do on these few 100+ degree days, we know it'll be there for us. WAIT - here's the best part. He didn't charge us one nickel! My elderly parents had their A/C go down this weekend. On Monday, I called Airflow and asked them to go out and take a look to see if they can help. I told them that my parents were a little nervous about someone coming and asked if he could call ahead of the visit so they would know he was coming. He called ahead, arrived on time and did some troubleshooting. He found that their thermostat just had a bad battery which he quickly replaced and made sure the unit was functioning correctly. He then spent a couple of minutes chatting with them before he was on his way. He told them there was no charge since the fix was simple. My parents raved about what a nice guy he was and how comfortable they felt with him I recommend everyone call Airflow. You really do not get service like this anymore and I want to thank them for taking care of my parents. read more

As good as it gets is right. It is such a pleasure to find a competent, prompt, efficient professional, even when the job is small. On a hot August day, my home AC unit stopped working. Ray answered his phone and told me he would call when he was finished with the job he was on at the moment. Thirty minutes later, he called, got my address, and was on the job, quickly checking likely issues. Another half hour to get the malfunctioning breaker switch, and presto, AC back in business. About 2 years ago in the middle of a heat wave the capacitor on my HVAC unit went. Thanks to YouTube I was able to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately I couldn't find a place to sell me the part and I was having a party in 2 days. I called a bunch of places and got really high quotes or other companies telling me they me they were so busy it would take 2 weeks to get someone out. Did I mention it was a heat wave?!? I called Airflow Heating and Cooling, told Ray what the problem was and begged him for mercy. He gave me a great quote and was able to squeeze me in at the end of his day. He didn't even try to gouge me like some other companies tried to. Ray gave me the heads up that the fix probably wouldn't last more than a year or 2. Ray was referred to me by a friend after receiving two other quotes to replace a coil in my air conditioning system. One quote was from a very well known company, the other from a small, local company. The big company gave me a quick quote to replace the coil and labor. The smaller company spent more time trying to explain to me why I not only needed the coil but that I absolutely needed new copper lines, which tacked on another $1000!!!!! I called Ray a few days later and he showed up later the same day to inspect my system. He explained that new copper lines would make the unit run more efficiently but that I didn't need to replace them if I didn't want to (could not afford to at this time). He sent me a quote 30 minutes after leaving, which was much lower than both companies. This was a Friday and he was available to come the following Monday morning. My air conditioner works better than it has since buying my place 4 years ago and I know I wasn't ripped off and/or didn't purchase anything I didn't need. In time I'll replace the copper lines when I can. I trust Ray 100% and would recommend him to anyone. I even asked him for an electrician referral, which he gave me (a good friend of his). Great guy - professional, honest, hard working, and reliable. I had a furnace replaced in December 2012 by Ray which was originally recommended to me by the judge that I worked with. Then, we moved out of the country and had to rent out the house. At some point in between tenants, the gas and electricity were turned off & SDG&E had to come out to turn the service back on for the new tenant. The service guy from SDG&E said that there were issues with the furnace and for safety reasons, he could not turn it on. The new tenant didn't speak very good English and assumed that the house was unsafe to live in - something my property manager should have been able to explain but they had no idea what was going on either. I basically called Ray in a panic because I wasn't sure if it was something he did. He came out to the house right away and showed me that the service guy was wrong about his assessment - that the lower vent was missing and that there were gaps at the bottom of the furnace. If the SDG&E guy would have moved the velcro insulation that had fallen down, he would have seen the lower vent. Also, there were no gaps but Ray added sealant anyway and even changed out the filter. He explained that sometimes you will get an overzealous SDG&E service guy that wants to note anything & everything. We turned on the unit and it worked just fine. In the end, I lost a tenant but gained valuable information. And I was sorry to bother Ray when it had nothing to do with him but he was more than happy to help. Thanks again, Ray! read more

I've debated over writing this review because initially I was very impressed with Ray. I called about my heater not working, he was there within 2 hours. WOW! He said it was the igniter and it would be $250 parts and labor. I was thrilled. He went and got the part, did the work and was out within a couple of hours. He also said he could come back to replace the wall thermostat - here is the reason for the 3 stars vs 5 stars - for $75. It would be a "continuation" of the work he had already performed so he was not charging for labor. Hmmm.... really? A simple thermostat that costs $25 at Home Depot is going to cost me a mere $75 with free installation. I'm confused - what is the additional $50 for if I get free installation? After that conversation I got another estimate on replacing the igniter - it was $180 - $200 Guess I should have done better homework. Ray does a good job - but you might want to get a couple other estimates to decide if you are really getting a good deal. read more
