Our HVAC system stopped working, the cooling system specifically. "Cool It Heat It" identified the problem, ordered the part and fixed the problem. This was after one other company made three visits, one of them two people, and could not identify the problem. I feel good about giving them a positive review here. read more

Caine's team showed up on short notice and repaired the old AC unit in a span of a few days. I wish the pricing would've been clearer: no expectations or estimates were provided until I called, and after repair was done it was just a bill sent to me. My name on the invoice was also wrong. I had to text and call to get it corrected. On the phone call Caine did not apologize for the mistake, and hung up on me before I could ask further questions. read more

I went with them twice and both times they were prompt and professional. They stayed on top of communication with my home warranty company and were very helpful in trying to get the service covered. read more

Caine installed a heating and AC system in our house in 2016. Worked fine these years until during the recent heatwave and heavy use the AC component in the attic started leaking water out into the ceiling. Turns out the AC Handler had shifted and wasn't draining condensed water properly off the coils. Caine sent someone out at no charge and with my help in the attic we leveled the unit and solved the problem. As such Caine stands behinds his work and would recommend him. read more

First American Home warranty is a nightmare, 10 days to find a contractor but I'm so thankful that Caine accepted the work order! I received a text from FAHW at 4:15 on Friday stating that they finally found a contractor to service my issue, I immediately called Cool it Heat it. They answered the phone on a late Friday afternoon, which in itself deserves 5 stars, but it gets better! Caine made a few phone calls and at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning, his employee was at my house where he diagnosed the problem and had a cool AC in no time! Thanks!!!!! read more

I called yesterday to get some help due to an unexpected sound in my hvac system. They were able to schedule a tech to come out the next day. Gerald was the tech and identified what the issue was (an attic fan that previously unknown and had never been activated in the 4 years we lived here previously). He was friendly and super helpful. No upsells and I was just charged for the service call. I would recommend. read more

I had chipped my copper line and all the gas escaped. Caine from Cool It Heat It came out on a Sunday morning and got my system up and running. All it took was one call. I had tried other companies and could not get a response or appointment until the following week. I had one estimate that was way, way overpriced. Caine and Cool It Heat It are just like they say. I would strongly suggest giving this company your business. read more

The a/c unit wasn't turning on. They came out the same day. He pulled the breaker and turned on the unit the compressor didn't turn on but the fan did. He repeated what he did and the compressor turned on. We did wait to see if everything worked which it did. He appeared to be in a hurry, and said that there was nothing more he could do. A few minutes after he left the same thing occurred. I called him back to see if he can take a look at it. He was unable to return to us for another week and suggested to stay in a hotel. WHAT.... I will can another company. read more

Caine installed new furnace and airconditioning units in our San Diego condo. He was responsive, professional and accommodating. Outstanding quality and value. We chose Cool It Heat It after four other companies evaluated our needs and made bids for the job. Caine more than matched other companies in pricing and competence. I'm confident that he would be a good choice for your HVAC needs. Thanks, Caine. read more

3 years ago, Cool It Heat It installed a new AC unit for our home when our AC completely went out. They were extremely unprofessional - cussing at each other all day, unfriendly, and they completely tore apart our attic without any courtesy to clean it up or at least let us know. Additionally, ever since the install, our AC has had a rotten smell every time we run it. Fast forward to this week, our AC suddenly stopped working a few days ago and we had a different company come out because we were unhappy with the service we received from this company 3 years ago. Not surprisingly, we discovered that Cool It Heat It installed the fan incorrectly, so the AC has been blowing the hot air down instead of up. Maybe none of this is a huge deal, but overall we are very unsatisfied with the technicians, service, and installation. I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere to a company that cares read more

Yesterday 8/31/23, I noticed that my A/C outside unit was not running. I saw that the breaker had tripped off. I flipped it back on and the unit just made a humming sound but did not start so I switched it off. I called Caine Forbes of "Cool it Heat" it who I had used back in 2016 and luckily he was still in business after COVID, but I called him at 7 AM and he had another job first but he came out at 1 pm same day and he diagnosed the problem and repaired the A/C and was gone at 1:30 pm so I now have a cool house again. I give him 5 stars for this job as well as 5 stars for the job in 2016. very knowledgeable and prompt. When I have to replace this unit I will be calling him. read more

After about two months of trying to get my Nest thermostat to work, we were informed we needed to have a HVAC company come out. My home warranty company referred us to Cool It Heat It. After an administrative goof up, the technician arrived 50 minutes late. The individual that came was cordial, nice, and knew what he was doing. He said he would need to drill some holes in the walls and do some rewiring...we weren't expecting that but said hey, if we have to do it, thats fine, we'll figure it out. After calling Kane (?), I was quoted $380. I said that was too much and we agreed to $300. Maybe I was expecting more, but 30 minutes later, the issue was fixed. Not entirely sure if I was duped, however, I spoke to the owner (Kane?)of Cool It Heat It about this and asked if we could revisit the agreed upon amount. Unfortunately, I was met with a lot of sass and attitude. I understand that I already agreed to the amount and a verbal agreement is as good as a signature. Nonetheless, I wasn't expecting 30 minutes for the technician to complete the job. After communicating to Kane (?) that I wasn't too thrilled about his tone with me, he admitted that he was frustrated from other jobs going wrong and that he would take a step back. Great - lets start from the beginning. "So are their considerations that we can make?" I was met with a similar response and this is when I became frustrated. I communicated to Kane that it isn't about the money, but more so the principle and that he needed to back (the f*&^) up. I empathized about having a frustrating day, thats fine, we all have those days. I gave him my credit card and said charge what you want. Am I likely to ever call them back? To refer them to others? Likely not. +2 stars for the technician getting the job done. -3 stars for the way the owner handled this. read more

Caine has installed several heaters and did HVAC work for in my rental houses over the last 10 years. I've always had a totally positive experience but I never took the time to place a yelp review. Recently I called him to put a AC unit in a house in just two weeks. He showed up in a couple of days with a plan and a fair price. Proceeded to work within days. All went well with his crew. They were done in just two days. Later, I called with a concern regarding the placement of the condensation drain and he was right out to place it in the way it satisfied us. This company did a great job, fair price and excellent and courteous customer service. Thank you Caine. read more

My AC / Heating / Furnace was on it very last legs as it was original equipment for my house. As an engineer I did my homework and examined all the brands / features and costs. I then had 6 different companies come to my house and provide quotes. I needed a 3 ton unit but really did not want to pay more then I had to (who does.. right..?) I work from home so in the summer I run my AC almost constantly so I was looking for a unit that would provide very cold air but also run very efficiently. I also like to sleep with the house no warmer then 70F! I selected a Lennox furnace with the new constant torque motor (very efficient and quiet). For outside I went with an AC Pro compressor (really is just Lennox rebranded). After all the investigation and work I selected Caine from "Cool it Heat It". He came on time and installed all the equipment in a professional manner. The work done was perfect. Everything to spec with all the right features! The best was the price! He beat all others by several hundreds of dollars and some by thousands! Unit runs fantastic!! Great job!! read more

Caine answered my phone call on NFL division playoff Sunday, expertly and correctly troubleshot my botched DIY thermostat install over the phone and then came over with a replacement for the fried furnace control board (which he luckily had in stock) and did the install and went through my entire HVAC system to make sure everything was in order between games! My home warranty company referred this company to us. We were able to get someone came out within two days. However, after I heard it cost $220 for cooler fluid refill I told him that I don't want to do the job. He then turned and told me it cost $90 for him to come! I talked to him twice on the phone but he NEVER mentioned once that his estimation was not free! Shady business beware! read more

My in-laws air conditioning went out late in the day on a Saturday. My husband and his brother were very concerned because the news media issued a heat advisory for the next few days. Luckily Yelp led me to this fantastic company. The owner answered the phone and knowing about the heat advisory offered to come out himself. He arrived within the hour. He quickly diagnosed the problem; a rat ate the wires outside that attach to the unit. Caine the owner couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant in explaining the problem. He fixed the wire and before we knew the unit was fixed and running. I highly recommend this company to anybody who need as honest and reliable AC Company. read more

Cold called Caine on Monday morning at 9:30am with a broken AC and a week of record temperatures ahead, and my AC was fixed by 2:15pm! Service like that just does not exist anymore...in any industry. Showed up on a short notice. Couple taps and the furnace was good to go, apparently some dust was blocking the gas from igniting in 2 of the channels so as soon as he tapped on it all worked. He literally spent less than 15 minutes at the house and charged me $80, I felt $80 was too much for this job but other than that I recommend him. read more

Caine the owner is amazing! He was able to come to my house within 24 hours after giving him a call. My husband is currently deployed overseas and I work a more than full time job! So being available was critical. He was able to squeeze me in during this heat wave and I couldn't be more appreciative. He came highly recommended by a friend and I am so glad I gave him a call. He was able to asses the problem within a few minutes and had my A/C running in less than an hour. The price was more than reasonable for exceptional service. I will recommend him to all my friends! When we switched on the AC for the first time after having our house reroofed, something just wasn't working right. Caine was able to come out the morning I called and got down to the bottom of the problem (a pinched off hose that hadn't been properly installed by the previous owners). He replaced the hose with copper pipe and updated our condensate pump quickly and for a fair price. A lifesaver going into a heatwave! Always happy to support a local business. read more

Our A/C compressor failed during a massive heatwave on a Friday night. Called on Saturday morning and although he was swamped, Caine fit me in for Sunday first thing in the morning. He quickly identified the failed capacitor and had the replacement part on-hand in his truck. Our A/C was back up and running within minutes. Caine came through for us over the weekend, where other companies were either unreachable or unavailable until mid-week. He stayed in contact via text message and was the only company to offer advice over the phone. He even charged less than the previous company for the same capacitor replacement. Caine was pleasant and efficient. His phone ran several times while he was here, he must get a lot of business especially during this heat. Thanks! read more

Our two year old compressor suddenly stopped working. We called the company who installed it, but they could not come to repair it for two days. We decided to call someone else and see if we could get it repaired sooner. After reading the reviews regarding Caine Forbes, we decided to call him. He answered on the first ring and said he would be in our area later that afternoon. He came a few hours later and within 10 minutes diagnosed the problem, went out to his well-stocked truck and came back with a new part to replace the defective one. Within 30 minutes, our air was back on and we were nice and comfortable. Caine was courteous, quick and reasonably priced. We would highly recommend him and plan to use him in the future. read more

Caine is honest, thorough, a great detective and a pleasure to work with. I won't ever call anyone else to repair my heater OR AC.

Our insurance company put Cool It Heat It in touch with us as our AC unit was leaking. The guy that Cane sent out to us took some tape off a pipe in our AC unit and realized that there was a leak. He asked me to run the AC unit and sure enough about 10 minutes after it had been on, it started leaking. He told me that this would be a plumbing issue and that we needed a plumber instead of him. He closed the hatch on the AC unit and went on his way. About 6.5 hours after he left, my floor was soaked with water. He never did cover the crack in the pipe back up and just from running our AC for those 10 minutes, caused another major leak. I spoke to Cane the next morning where he told me, "Of course it is going to leak when you run the AC." I told him I only had it on when his guy was here and that we turned it off when it started leaking. In a sarcastic and rude tone, he told me "Good job". He seemed to think I was continuing to run the AC (when I knew better than that). He was rude, sarcastic, and belittling. I work in the customer service industry too and this is not how you treat others. Unfortunately, when you go through your insurance, you have no choice as to who you get to service your house. If it was my choice in the future, I would not choose him. **Thanks Caine for your side of the story. However, you never did come to our house. I only ever spoke to you on the phone. Another company figured out the problem for us. read more

Asked for a quote for a whole new system, Caine responded within an hour and set up an appointment the next day to take a look, measure and then delivered quoted. At the height of the 2015 hot spell, our 25 year old combined furnace/central AC unit finally died. As a large unplanned for expense, I got several estimates from different contractors ranging from a major national retailer to a highly advertised local company. Each contractor recited a list of reasons why our job was more difficult, time consuming, and expensive than I had anticipated. I was utterly disheartened by the prices I was quoted, and the length of time it would take for them to get to our job. On recommendation from a co-worker, I called Heat It Cool It. Caine came out the same day and gave me an firm price substantially lower than even the lowest quote I'd previously received. In addition, he promised to start the job at 7:00 o'clock the very next morning. At 7:00 AM the next day, on the dot, Caine's crew showed up and the removal of the old AC unit began. I had to go to work, fully anticipating a call telling me that there were problems and the cost would be higher than quoted. The call never came. When I went home at noon to check on things, Caine and his crew were already finishing up. The old system was gone, the new system was installed, and the area was clear and clean. All at the originally quoted price. Following the installation we continued to have ungodly hot weather. We kept the new system running almost continuously for the next month in some of the hottest weather we've ever had. It functioned perfectly, and now, having received our first electric bill since the installation, I can say, far more efficiently than our old unit ever did. Caine, and Heat It Cool It were as pleasant and professional as I could possibly have hoped. Everything was done quickly, competently and professionally, and at a price no other contractor came close to. I highly recommend this company. read more

Caine came in to do an insurance repair on my old school Freon AC. The insurance company was only willing to partially pay for the repair since it was the old refrigerant.
