Precision Air in Poway is hands down the best HVAC service around. After spending years with one of…read morethe big-name companies on an elusive intermittent problem, only to have it go undiagnosed/fixed and hours of wasted return calls for nothing, Jose came over and took the time to review what was going on, then gave me instructions on what to document so we could narrow down the exact parts needed instead of wasting money replacing everything, as had been suggested. Stephen (the owner) and Santi, whom he was training, came over, quickly installed the parts, and voilà! My AC was working perfectly again! Stephen even took the time to gather information to estimate the cost of adding another zone for me. The pricing is very fair for the work done. The workers are great, friendly, and honest. I highly recommend Precision Air if you want truly old-fashioned service and not to be just a number on an assembly line of customers.

They are only open Monday through Friday and calling on a Saturday, they said they could forward my info to the main office for Monday to even call me back to set something up for later than that. Edgar from Airmaxx proposed several different options for the best way to add air conditioning to our home. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and responsive. They were not the cheapest bid but I was confident they could deliver the quality job I was looking for. Vitaliy and two other installers arrived the morning of the scheduled installation. We walked the job and discussed my expectations. They got started and shortly thereafter Vitaliy came to me with the first problem. The location of one of the ceiling cassette units would not work because of how the roof was framed and the roof pitch. We discussed alternatives and decided on a new location for the cassette unit. The next problem was how to run the line set to the furthest location taking into account the shallow roof pitch and access. After some discussion we came up with an approach. Vitaliy and the crew along with Edgar were able to run the line set to the furthest location. The installation proceeded smoothly until we discovered that one of the condensation drain lines was not working correctly (thank goodness Vitaliy had the foresight to check it before it became a bigger problem). They got the drain line fixed and completed the installation. Before you question why there were "problems" know that any retrofit has potential issues and it is how the contractor addresses them that determines how good the contractor is. I say this having been a high end custom home builder in another state since 1986. Their workmanship was excellent ( lines and items they installed were plumb, level or sloped, and well secured as appropriate). I would not hesitate to recommend Edgar, Vitaliy, and Airmaxx to family and friends.

I'm sure this cut some costs with remove/setup, but based on some research this is ideal as the weather can get down below 40 degrees where I live. We went with GVK due to this, the fact he took the time to answer all questions thoroughly and honestly, and they were able to install the next business day; got a quote on Friday afternoon and scheduled me for Monday to install the new system. The price was also very competitive with the other options. We did have a delay in starting as they had a mix-up on install dates and had to postpone one day. However, George called and apologized and offered a discount for the mistake and to charge our current system to help keep the house cool until they came out the next day, which I think reflects how he runs a customer focused business. When he did come out that day I had more questions about the setup and based on our discussion we changed the coil for more flexibility in moving the unit in the attic one day. It was pretty clear that George runs a solid business; he double checked they left no trash after leaving, his workers made sure to set up mats everywhere they worked inside, they let us know when they would be using louder tools (as we have a baby), and they stayed until the unit was fully installed which meant they stayed pretty late. I couldn't recommend them enough. George is really easy to work with, does a great job on the customer side and also steps in to do the work himself which is all reflected in the impressive reviews he has.

I had them come out to check on a smell from the ac. The drain clog was not noticed until it became a bigger issue. When asking about how this happened or how this was missed there was miscommunication that resulted in my frustration. I have to say this company came through to make it right and clarify. I do understand and believe that these types of companies (home repair, plumbing, construction, etc) have a different communication style based off any time I've had someone work on my house and just the way things run at my husbands job who is also in a construction type industry so I do appreciate west coast trying to make this right. There's a reason they have 5 stars and are a reputable company in the community. There's bound to be hiccups with anything and I don't expect a company to be perfect. But they have definitely gone above and beyond resolving any issues and at this point I really feel comfortable being a loyal customer and recommending to some of my friends and family looking for ac service. You can't please everyone and the customer is not always right but I'm glad west coast heating air values customers and looking forward to having a stronger relationship without doubting their intentions and quality

Straight Shooter Heating and Cooling

Straight Shooter Heating and Cooling

We wanted to take the time to leave a detailed review for SSHC (Straight Shooter Heating & Cooling)…read morebecause of the exceptional customer service and professionalism we experienced from our very first phone call through the successful installation of our brand-new HVAC system. What made our experience especially noteworthy is that we weren't replacing a system that had completely failed. Our previous HVAC system was installed in 2000 and had remarkably served us for more than 26 years without any major repairs. It was still functioning--our heating and air conditioning worked when we needed them, there were no apparent leaks, and the ductwork appeared to be sealed based on what could be examined. However, after more than two and a half decades, it was becoming increasingly apparent that our old system simply wasn't operating as efficiently as today's newer systems. We also had to consider how much longer a 26-year-old system could realistically continue to serve us. We discovered SSHC through several of my co-workers. A few had recently upgraded their HVAC systems and had nothing but great things to say about how well they were treated, particularly their experiences with Michael. We figured it couldn't hurt to have SSHC evaluate our system and provide an estimate so we could determine whether replacing it made sense. From the beginning, Michael made an excellent impression. He thoroughly examined our existing HVAC system and all of its accessible components. What we appreciated most was that he didn't come into our home looking for reasons to sell us something we didn't need. He was very straightforward about the condition of our existing system and acknowledged that it was still working. At the same time, he explained that its efficiency was nowhere near that of a modern system and discussed the benefits and considerations of upgrading. Michael provided us with three or four recommendations appropriate for our home and explained them without making us feel pressured to choose any particular system. His approach was transparent, informative, and genuinely low-pressure. That meant a lot to us because replacing an HVAC system is a significant investment, and we wanted to feel confident in our decision. Ultimately, my wife and I decided to retire our 26-year-old system and move forward with a new HVAC system. Several factors went into that decision: we already knew three people who had purchased systems from SSHC and had very positive experiences; we felt extremely comfortable with Michael's straightforward approach; we were satisfied with the pricing in the estimate; and we were impressed by the many positive and relatively recent Yelp and Google reviews. Once we made our decision, the installation experience was just as positive. The installation crew--Dillon, Mario, and Frankie--did an excellent job removing our old HVAC system and installing the new one. They were thorough, careful, and respectful while working both inside and outside our home. They also took the time to answer all of my questions throughout the installation, which I really appreciated. Michael also stopped by during the installation to check on the progress, answer questions, and make sure everything was going as expected. He even took the time to thank me again for choosing SSHC when we could have selected just about any local HVAC company. That personal follow-up was another example of the level of customer service we experienced throughout the entire process. Another nice benefit was being able to take advantage of SSHC's 18-month, no-interest financing through Wells Fargo, which gave us some additional flexibility with such a substantial home improvement expense. Overall, we could not be happier with our experience with SSHC. From the initial estimate to the final installation, we were impressed by their professionalism, reasonable pricing, transparency, communication, and attention to detail. Most importantly, we never felt pressured or rushed into making a decision. We felt that Michael took the time to assess our existing system honestly, explain our options, answer our questions, and allow us to make the decision that was right for our home. The installation team then carried that same level of professionalism and care through the replacement. If you're in the market for a new HVAC system--or need any heating or air conditioning work--we would highly recommend Straight Shooter Heating & Cooling (SSHC). Based on our experience, they have certainly earned their reputation for taking care of their customers. We honestly wish we could give them 6 stars, because 5 doesn't quite seem to capture how pleased we are with the service we received from start to finish. Thank you to Michael, Dillon, Mario, Frankie, and everyone at SSHC for taking such great care of us!
