I just had Precision Air replace our very old furnace and air conditioner with a heat pump, as well as replacing all of the ductwork in the attic, and they were fantastic to work with. Stephen was very straightforward in his initial walk-through, Sam and Ira were very helpful when figuring out which unit we wanted and getting permits and HOA approval sorted out, and the install team, led by Marco, was fantastic. Marco was very communicative about all the details of the install, and he along with Jose, Jorge, Eduardo, Santiago, Robert, Michelle, and Brandon got the installation done in less than 75% of the quoted time (without cutting any corners). I will definitely use Precision for future maintenance needs, and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again if I ever needed an HVAC system. I can't say if their service is good or not, but they are misleading in their advertising. Both Yelp and Google indicate they are open, however their call center is only open weekends. They are only open Monday through Friday and calling on a Saturday, they said they could forward my info to the main office for Monday to even call me back to set something up for later than that. I think that's totally fine, but when my air broke on a Friday PM at like 6 and I was looking for weekend service, they advertised poorly and aren't able to help. read more

I highly recommend Precision Air! They replaced my old furnace with a new one, and checked the ducts for leaks, redid all the duct insulation in the garage, and installed a new smart thermostat. They did a great job, cleaned up beautifully, and finished within the time estimate. Steve (owner) did the original evaluation and gave me multiple proposals for different furnaces and a heat pump. He ultimately advised that a heat pump would not operate optimally for my house due to the duct work (that is in the ceilings so can't easily be reached) size & configuration. I had several companies come out and bid my project to install HVAC into my attic and replace old ducting and they were all over the place with price and quality. The big names were responsive and on time but the #s were through the roof. The smaller companies were sometimes no shows or 4 hours early/late with no warning and were very vague with quotes, products and final project costs. I had nearly given up when I found precision. They did my father in laws ac, I stopped by for the quote with him and met Michael their project manager. He was about 10x more professional, knowledgeable and thorough than anyone I met with or my father in law on his house. I was very impressed with his process and was convinced when done the number would be way given the professionalism. It was not, the number was completely reasonable, and he did an awesome job with my father in law. I was so impressed I had him at my house the next day, same story- super professional and thorough, great price. I had Precision Air out to look at my heat pump system. I told them the system was running normally but was not heating or cooling as expected. I also told them that based on the symptoms and that the HP had not been run in 5 months due to a remodel, that it seemed likely it was low on refrigerant. There response was that $150 dollars they would send a tech out to look at it. The tech arrived examined the machine and tested for refrigerant pressure and sure enough reported that the refrigerant was low. He then said that $995 dollars he could add refrigerant, but that would not fix the leak and that for $3,000 dollars he would add refrigerant with a UV dye in it and find and fix the leak. Just a little information here; it would have taken him 15 minutes to add the refrigerant which cost me $79 dollars to buy after they left, and those prices are preset prices for them, not some special quote for me. So they could have easily said that adding refrigerant would cost $1000 without coming out to see my machine, which would have been a really easy "no thank you" Another thing to note here is that a brand new HP system like the one I have would be $2,500 dollars - for the entire thing! So a little reality check here for all you people that think these guys are "great", they are not, they are overcharging you outrageously! True enough they are polite, the tech, who was a kid just out of HVAC school, even pointed out that the $3000 estimate to "fix a leak" was likely more than the entire system cost, so he "doubted" we would want that, but they are never the less way - way overpriced for that they do. The problem is, I am not sure any other of these big companies operate any differently. They all know the price of houses has gone up 100% in the last few years so they simply calculate that you won't mind paying them a few thousand dollars an hour to add refrigerant to your AC system ... ugh! Anyway thank god for you tube, I got three 2 minute videos that show you how to add coolant (it takes less than 5 minutes BTW), and several suggestions on where to get the recharge kits. I found several on the web with the refrigerant, valves and gauge you need, plus the UV dye to find the leak, all for $129 bucks! Update: One day after posting this review my service charge was completely refunded .... So they may still be expensive, but at least they are ethical! read more

I needed to replace two aging 20+ year old HVAC systems and all the ducting in my home (one system in the attic and the other the garage). From the estimate to completion and beyond, they are really great to work with. I got six quotes from several companies and Precision Air came in with a very competitive quote. The owner Stephen came to my house to do the estimate and what struck me was his attention to detail. Out of all the estimates I received he spent the longest time thoroughly checking out my attic and the existing system. He measured all my rooms to properly size the system which really stood out to me. So many other companies quickly breezed through their estimates using a one size fits all approach. With Stephen he designed a custom system specifically for my home. He took the time to answer all of my questions about the new proposed system, I felt confident I was in good hands. Moving onto the install. I have nothing but great things to say about the install team. The install team: Brandon, Santiago, Jorge, Rob, Lorenzo, and Eduardo all led by Jose were all a pleasure to work with. It was quite an extensive install for the new system since it consisted of all new ducting throughout the house/attic and installing 2 separate systems (one in the attic and the other in the garage). Needless to say the crew was literally in every part of my house and were always very courteous and respectful. They started each morning by putting down tarps on the floor where they were going in and out of the house. They cleaned up each day when they completed their work. They paid attention to detail which really matters to me. When the work was complete Jose made sure that all my questions were answered and addressed any minor items related to the install around the house. The systems that I got are really quiet and efficient Bryant heat pumps along with the dual fuel option Bryant high efficiency gas furnaces. And by the way something I learned from Stephen is that Bryant is essentially the same as Carrier. Same parent company. They are made in the same plant and have the same specs just different labels. What a company that delivers quality at every step! I have used Yelp a lot over many years but this is only my second review. I usually don't bother but really want to recommend Precision Air. I had fairly abnormal needs. I pretty much knew most of what I wanted which starts with the Trane XV19 Heat Pump which I had installed at my last home (or the American Standard Premium 19 which is the exact same unit with a different label). It is very efficient and the quietest outdoor unit on the market for a whole house duct-ed system. I also needed a whole house Dehumidifier which is not very common, a good media filter and an air purifier. Contacted three Trane dealers and three American Standard dealers and Michael at Precision Air was the only one that was able to deliver everything I needed and at a fair price and time frame. Two of the other dealers quoted me a different (cheaper) Heat Pump than I asked for and one of them quoted more for it while the other did not include the other equipment. Some would not install a Dehumidifier and others never got me a quote after spending a lot of time with. Some finally came around and took me serious and tried putting together a system I was asking for but it was too much trouble for me to work with them. Michael was straight to the point all the way. If he had to research somethings he would let me know and then he followed through quickly. He included a second return to get the best flow and added another supply to the large Living Room for free. Michael was also the Project Manager, scheduled everything, keeping me up to date when items were delayed from their supplier. The installation crew was excellent, worked diligently, never taking a short cut. There were typically 4 people working on this job for 4 days. Jose, the foreman really knows his stuff and was easy working with (for me and the for the rest of the crew). The main other three were Marco, Brandon and Javier. Some days (another) Michael, Rene and Eric were also helping out. Without exception they all worked together seamlessly. And a big bonus I never saw one of them on their phone chatting with friends, posting on FB, etc. This was not a simple job. For example they had to convert from an up flow system in the attic to a sideways system on a raised platform, running a lot of extra duct, new electric circuit for the Dehumidifier, new drain lines, move the gas line, etc. In the end the system works great, is very quiet, helping keep our home comfortable. My wife and I choose Precision based on price, comfort, and timing requirements that we laid out when getting quotes from 3 companies. Each company took the time to explain, walk the site, and give options. Precision (Mike) really spent time determining my needs so we didn't have to go back and forth a bit with the quote. They also put enough information int the quote where we felt comfortable with the quality and brand. We were quoted for a slim line model with Bryant, which was the brand and model that I had conducted research on previously and was one that I had my eye on. They gave us two quotes, one for the upstairs unit (2 ton) alone, and one for the upstairs and downstairs (3 ton) together. We didn't replace the furnace and add AC as a few companies recommended, but we didn't feel pressured into doing anything one way or the other with Precision. The final piece of the negotiation was the timing which was important. They guaranteed installation before remote learning school started, which was what we needed (about 10 days out). We choose just the upstairs unit as that is where our house gets really hot and after a 10% down payment got on their schedule with us picking the final date. The installation process was also as good as it gets. One day, 4 person crew (Beto, Mike, Julio, and Tomas) and masked up for safety. Felt very safe and well taken care of (I asked lots of questions). They arrived at about 8ish and were done before 3pm. The AC was cooling down the house right away and we were very happy as that day got very hot (8/14/20). We haven't had any issues and the AC kicks in when we need it to! Overall compared to the other quotes Precision was honest and open saying that there were probably other companies that could undercut their prices by 5-10%, but that they made up for it with a accomplished crew, good materials, and quality install. It is the coldest week in San Diego and my heating system stopped working. My regular place diagnosed the 22 year old system but said it would take two weeks for a replacement. At the recommendation of my friend Dustin, I called Precision Air at 8:08 a.m. on a Thursday. Amanda answered and had J Hanson out to my house that afternoon to look at my 22 year old system. He was super nice and provided me an excellent quote for a new install and on Tuesday I had heat. I was super impressed with the care and professionalism of the install technicians. They put down tarps, kept the area clean and were able to remove and replace my old system which was in a super tight space. They were even able to improve on the prior installation. Eric, Mike and Sam were truly great installers. I didn't realize how poor my old system was until this one was installed. The fan strength is two or three times my old system. I'm glad to add my voice to the chorus singing praises for Precision Air. We'd originally hired them to put air conditioning in my father's north county home as he was aging and were really impressed, from sales through installation. Michael guided us through decisions and was really patient with all my questions. I never got the sense that we were being upsold and we were really pleased with the end result. When it came time for us to replace our Clairemont furnace, they were the first company we called. Sure, we did research and got a few bids, but Precision was easily the choice. The furnace probably wasn't the original (1958) unit, but the ducting almost certainly was. That gas furnace had never worked well, and we realized that it was really inefficient. Since we also wanted to add cooling, we went with a heat-pump inverter and couldn't be happier. The modern technology has the same unit doing both heating and cooling. There's no gas involved, so it's also a sound environmental choice. We had a team of three onsite for almost five days: Jose, Marco and Christian. Honestly, we couldn't have been happier - they were so respectful of our home and our time. They kept the place neat and clean, even through removing the old furnace and cutting drywall for new duct registers. The guys were so personable that, by the end of the week, we felt like we just had some friends doing the work. Jose was everything a team lead should be, and I really enjoyed watching him mentoring the team. Ira in customer service picked up the communication after we were contracted, and guided us through what to expect from permits and inspections.
