The installation of my hardwood floor in my living room, dining room, kitchen and stairs has been a night mare. It stared off on a bad note when they used my leaf blower, which I had left on my patio, to "clean" after they removed the tile and the carpet. All this did was spread the dust around including in my cupboards, which I did not know I should have covered and sealed with plastic before they started. The trash bags from the removal were then left on my driveway for over a week. When they were initially done with my stairs the treads stuck out on the sides past the stringers. They said that this is what happens in older homes, mine was built in the mid 70's. To solve this I had to source treads and risers that would work, which they then installed. Within 2 weeks of them being "finished" one of the places in the hardwood that they had filled failed. They came out and refilled it and now I have to hope this lasts. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTING, nothing but excuses. I was referred to this company by my neighbors because I was told they did a great job and I like to purchase from local companies versus the big box store. This company changed my mind about that in the future. I initially went in for hardwood floors but decided to since my hardwood floors wouldn't match, I decided to stay with carpets. I selected the carpet from the Swatch they provided. I only selected the one Swatch but explained I wanted a softer feel in the living room versus the basement as we are in the living room the most. Based on this, Alex at their location recommended the living room pad to be 1/2 inch thick versus the basement pad to be 3/8 inch. He never showed me the thickness of the pad, nor did he ever explain the pounds of the pad which actually makes the difference in the feel of the carpet. I took Alex's advice and Mariya sent me an invoice cost estimate. When I received the estimate, I didn't notice they put one carpet called Malibu III vs Malibu I on different levels of the floor and the weight of 8lb v 6lb of the pads. I assume based on our conversation I had, they provided what I asked. Now the day of the installation, the installers were over an hour late from when he told me he was going to be there, which I figured wasn't a huge deal because of the weather that day. When they arrived, they only spoke Spanish and my Spanish is great and I attempted to speak to them, and I believe they understood me when I spoke to them about the softer pad should be upstairs and the thinner pad is in the basement. They seemed to understand and stated noting, this should only take about 3 1/2 hours to get the work completed. After NINE HOURS, they finally finished, and I went to inspect. Immediately, I noticed the carpet in the basement felt softer to the feel than the living room. They told me it was correct, pointing out it was because of the different types of floor the carpet was on. However, both floors are wood, so I knew that wasn't the reason. I then wrote a long email, Sunday afternoon, to the company explaining my concerns about the project. I thought someone would call me Monday, but no one did. I called them about 3pm Monday and they stated they would have to send someone out this Wednesday. Alex came out and stated the work was done right and explained the feel was based on the pounds of the pad and had nothing to do with the thickness of the pad. He stated I was the customer, and they would make it right. NOPE! Mariya then called me, and she blamed it on me because the estimate they sent me was what I agreed to, and I should have known better! We had carpet ripped up in 2 bedrooms and luxury vinyl laid to replace it. The worker showed up on time and did a great job! Both of my kids were home and it was a bit chaotic and he did great with my kids as well. He cleaned up after and the floors look great! I'd use this company again. read more

We had a terrible experience working with Affordable Flooring on our wood floors in our new construction home. We're currently looking to have the floors fully replaced at a cost of an additional $20k to us (Affordable Flooring already took their $20k+). They put the floors in before the house was acclimatized, and all of the boards started to split apart from each other leaving large gaps. They tried to fill the gaps with a wood putty that didn't match the wood, then that cracked. The floors are also bowing in multiple spots. Overall it just looks terrible. The floors are 'squishy' in a lot of places - I don't think they nailed them down tight enough. Or because they installed them before the house was acclimatized, things shifted. They pop up when you step on them in numerous places. They also did a very bad job at making the wood floors flush with each doorway. There are big, uneven gaps and a 2x2 inch hole by our back door where it looks like they clearly just cut the wrong size wood and left it that way. The finish didn't stand up to even one week in the house. The highly trafficked breakfast bar area had the finish completely worn down within a week of moving in and now is a lighter/ discolored version of the rest of our floors. There were also some areas with major discoloration or gashes in the wood - they tried to hide this poor quality wood in various parts of the house (e.g., under a counter lip, in a closet). We brought the Affordable Flooring owner to review the 'quality' of the work, and he took no responsibility for it. They blamed everything on the builder, though the finish wearing away, mis-cut wood at the doorways, and overall horrible attempt to fill cracks in with (different colored) wood putty was clearly on them. They offered to refinish the floors - at a cost to us and profit for them. We obviously didn't take them up on that offer since we'd seen the 'quality' of their work already. read more

When I needed almost my whole house's old, nasty carpet replaced, I did my online research and found a different flooring company. I signed a contract, and proceeded to pack up and move all of my belongings...a HUGE endeavor. On the morning scheduled, the installers came into my home, took three steps and said I would have to hire a contractor to level my floor and replace most of the subflooring. I was so stressed! I then did further research and found Affordable Flooring. I was drawn to this company because it is local, minority owned and got great reviews. From the moment they first inspected my floors, assuring me the sub flooring did not need to be completely replaced, provided me the the quote (which was the exact amount the prior company quoted, but included a far superior flooring material), showed up on time, treated me and my home with the highest respect, and completed my project on time, I was impressed. The end result is a beautiful, well crafted floor. Affordable even remove the handrail to my basement and installed the flooring, when the previous company stated they would just cut around it. They also painted the corners of my subfloor where my pets had had accidents to prevent any odors from attracting them again. They took a full five days to complete the job, when the prior company said it would only take one to two days. I wonder what kind of shoddy workmanship the prior company would have provided. read more

Is it normal for a flooring company to leave a HUGE mess after a laminate install? We used Affordable Flooring & Remodeling and they left thick layer of dust covering the entire house, so bad I could not see the floors. Holes in our walls, banisters and trim not replaced. They told me it is our responsibility to finish clean up and do wall repairs/painting. The craftsmanship was good but for all the $$$ we dished out I expected a finished & polished product.The cost for 2 levels was $12,000. This ultimately delayed our move in and cost us our deposit where we moved from. Left me feeling shocked and deflated. read more

I received 8 different estimates, this wasn't the lowest but it was certainly one of the most reasonable. The project is for new carpet and laminate. The carpet portion is finished but the laminate was back ordered. Mariya has kept me up to date on the arrival of the laminate and we now have that install booked. As for the carpet, it was done in 1 day. There were some challenges with the transitions with the bathroom tile but Tony and/or his crew came out several times until we got it right. Both Mariya and Alex were patient with me as I changed my original plans and had a difficult time deciding on the product but they never made me feel like an imposition and actually offered lots of advice for how to make the ultimate decision. I'll provide an update when the laminate is installed but unless they REALLY mess that up, I can't imagine changing my review. Highly recommend this locally owned company. read more

Well, I am posting this because my very very finicky neighbor had all her main floors replaced, along with stairs and the results were stunning. She said price was right and installer was slow, but it was worth waiting because of his level of precision. I am going to have mine done based on her results, replacing 1500 feet and two stair cases that are currently carpeted. Like my neighbor I have part hardwood and part carpet on main floor so I will update this once we see how my project goes! read more

I've been wanting to replace our disgusting brown carpet FOREVER. Finally, this year, I had 3 bids come in and Affordable Flooring was extremely competitive, knowledgeable and much more professional than any other flooring company I interviewed. I came in, picked out a sample and was encouraged to try it out at home to make sure I liked it. Well, it was a little bright in the store with their fluorescent lightening, but I liked the flooring even better in natural light. We were out of town when they installed the flooring and my husband was worried that we'd have to call during vacation to settle up our account- NOPE. I talked to Maria in the office and she was fine to wait until we arrived home to settle up. All in all, a small, local company doing wonderful work. did master bath complete remodel and hardwood floors. initial experience: very positive. wanted one company to do the entire project. price was competitive and liked what i saw at the design center. as project progressed, noticed they used subs to do the bath tiles, plumbing and also hardwood floor installation. when something went wrong, i just called Maria and in turn, subs came out to fix the problem. overall, i was satisfied with bow they turned out. i was behind 3 weeks due to people doing the floor finish couldn't schedule accordingly. Overall, its very hard to find company who can do the reasonable job in reasonable time due to so many things that could go wrong. plus, they are always tackling more than they can chew off. read more

What an amazing company! Max and Mariya are truly running a well oiled machine. First off, when Max came over and provided us with a quote, he was fair and honest - no fluffs, but yet extremely informative and really educated us on what to expect. Next, when we came to visit their store in Aurora to select which laminate floors to get, we were once again treated to some solid information and extremely helpful education on their process. Now, to make things even better - the two gentlemen who performed the work were the NICEST and absolutely MOST RESPECTFUL people we're ever worked with! At first, we were a bit worried because my wife works from home and that she would have to deal with the noise and everything else. Other than the removal of our kitchen tile - it was like they weren't there! Again, a well oiled machine, And of course, the results were AMAZING!!! They did a good job on the installing, but beware if you have a problem after. They came out after we called them, but there was an attitude that came with it. Because of that, my husband did it himself. What a shame when we spent almost $9000! Max should have ordered the right threshold for the stairs. We assumed he did. Another thing, they messed up a lot of the baseboard trim that my husband made, sanded and stained throughout the house. They just threw it on the garage floor. He is still repairing it. When they came out, we told them we would get back to them. When we decided not to, after a couple of weeks you would think that a courtesy call from Mariya would be made. But no. Have heard nothing and it has been 3 months now! We know two people looking to have floors put in. Told them the situation and will let them make the decision. There are better companies out there that take pride in their business. My experience wasn't a good one. I was told by three different people three different things regarding how my floor re-surfacing would be done. Also, there is no communication between the employees, especially the estimator and Maria. I'm still not sure the flooring re-surfacers did everything I was told they would do, especially when it came down to how many coats of polyurythane they would put down. It doesn't look like they put down three coats but I haven't found a way to test the floor yet. As said earlier, there are better companies out there and this company isn't one of them. read more

Do not hire this company to refinish your hardwood floors. They took shortcuts, skimped on the polyurethane and now our dark hardwood floors scratch at the slightest touch. I had Max come over 3 weeks after the job was done and he was very rude and said "that's what happens with dogs". Well, we had these dogs for 4 years and never had such deep scratches on the floor. If you slide a chair back from the kitchen table, the floor gets scratched up. Same furniture, same dogs and the floor is more scratched up in 3 weeks than it was in 4 years. Basically we paid thousands of dollar to have our floors look worse than before. Very frustrating. read more

Mariya in the store was helpful and very nice but as far as the installation went, it was a hurry-up job with no respect for our property. They do not show up at the time they say they will be there. They do not "remove and replace baseboards" as stated on estimates. Baseboards get bashed and gouged by the machines, more than "minor touch up" is needed. Walked in from patio to find hardwood crew helping themselves to what they needed in my kitchen to make their lunch. Bucket-sized pile of sawdust left on the lawn after new wood installed. Trimmed oak floor with maple transition pieces. Finisher broke photo on wall with handle of machine, it fell and gouged baseboard, he just hung it back up sideways; he used our hose and left water running for hours until neighbor called us to say her yard was flooded; a can of stain leaked from his truck down our driveway, 3 days later he asked ME to get a pressure washer from Home Depot for him to clean it up! One day he showed up and walked into the house without knocking or ringing the bell. Terrible finished product on the floor, splotchy stain patches and unevenly sealed. Owner had to re-do job. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy! I was scheduled to have my floors redone today by this company. I moved and stored all my furniture in advance in order to be ready for the process to get going right away! I asked Maria if the guys could arrive by 8:30 as I had to get to work. At 8:45 I called the office with no answer then I called Max, the owner. I told him I needed to get going and he said he would find out where the guys were and call me back. He then called me back to say they were 10mins away at this time it was 8:50. I told him I was frustrated that I was paying them a decent amount of money and they couldn't be on time. Max then very aggressively came up with excuses and hung up on me. I called back and told them I there services were no longer needed if the owner of the company couldn't respect his clients! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you want any type of respect!! read more
