a bathroom with a toilet, sink, and mirror

We only have excellent things to say about Miah and his team for their work on our Tudor-style house in Denver that was built in the 1930s. After reading other positive reviews, we contacted Miah about our downstairs bathroom, which was poorly constructed 12+ years ago by another contractor. Miah quickly diagnosed the problem, clearly explained how he would execute the job, and worked closely with us to develop a plan. He was super-communicative throughout the process, and he and every one of his subcontractors were professional and did excellent work. We found the price to be reasonable, especially for the quality of work delivered. We also had a few other unrelated smaller projects around the house that needed to be done, and Miah's subcontractors handled them quickly and easily. All of the work was done in a timely manner. We highly recommend Miah and Black River Construction!

Miah and team did a fantastic job. Our bathroom had been built improperly years ago and we had been dealing with numerous issues and emergency fixes. To finally have it torn down and rebuilt properly gives us such peace of mind. This was the first time I had remodeled a part of our home. Miah was patient, gave helpful suggestions and worked with us as we figured out what would work best in the space. The tile work was beautifully done and opening the shower with a glass wall completely transformed the space. We are so happy with the finished product.

In addition to the complete remodel of the bathroom shown here, also installed new floors, doors, and baseboards/trim across an entire one bedroom condo. Miah's prices were reasonable, communicated well during the entire project confirming preferences, sending pictures of progress, etc. Place looks great! Miah will be my first call for future projects.

Shower half wall made the room so much less cramped

I called Miah a few months ago about putting a bathroom in the upstairs of my house. The space was, for the most part, unfinished and had no plumbing running to it, so I had struggled to find a builder who would do the work for a reasonable price. Miah came over to take a look, and while he recognized that it would be a tough job, he had a solid vision for the space and gave a good estimate. We started construction a few months later, and the first order of business was plumbing. Nate, the plumber that Miah works with is top notch. He figured out the right configuration to squeeze a few pipes into the walls of my 130 year old house and within a few days had the space roughed in! I was ecstatic, as my other estimates had suggested this would be nearly impossible. Once we had that in place, Miah took over construction of a small wall for the shower and framed in the plumbing. You would never know what was behind the wall after he framed it and had his drywall guys cover it up. Things went smoothly with the tiling as Miah's tile subcontractor, Solimon, come in and knocked out the job in a few days. At this point the room had taken shape and I was truly surprised at the space Miah had shaped out of an oddly proportioned room. The recommendations on placement and Miah's suggestion to build a half wall for the shower meant that the whole room felt open and accessible. The final product is just incredible. I was so excited to use the room that I pestered my partner to move her things upstairs as soon as the sink was connected. The shower ended up being about twice the size I thought we could fit, and the toilet is nicely spaced. So far, the room has elicited nothing but jealousy from friends. Miah was a pleasure to work with and while there were a few hiccups (old houses have lots of surprises behind the walls), the project was finished pretty quickly and close to the original estimate. The final product surpassed all expectations!

Quick response and honest. Didn't get the chance to work with them. Wrong type of project for them. Appreciate the honesty in a contractor.

We first hired him back when he was known as "Steve Beam Handyman," and it's been amazing to see him grow and expand his services with the launch of Denver Remodels Inc. Over the years, Steve and his team have tackled everything from small repairs (like anchoring heavy drapery hardware into our finicky plaster walls) to major renovations (like restoring the exterior of our 1908 Craftsman). One of our favorite projects was transforming our mudroom by removing a wall and building a custom breakfast nook. This was a complex project, but Steve's expertise and creativity shone through. He even suggested a design element in the booth walls that perfectly complemented the Craftsman lines of our home - it's those little details that make a huge difference. What we think truly sets Steve apart is his incredible craftsmanship, creativity, and his consultative approach. He takes the time to truly understand your vision and offers expert guidance throughout the design process. Whether you're tackling a small project or a major renovation, Steve's deep knowledge and experience are on display with every project he does. He's always there to answer questions, offer suggestions, and steer you in the right direction, ensuring that the final result is even better than you imagined. His team is equally fantastic - professional, efficient, and incredibly skilled. If you're looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and truly exceptional remodeling experience in Denver, look no further than Steve Beam and Denver Remodels Inc. They're a standout and I'm so glad we found them.

He came prepared with lots of information and documentation at our initial meeting. He was very quick to respond and he had an idea for the layout that no one else had thought of. Once things got rolling our project manager was Chuck and I can't speak highly enough of him. He and his team were very professional and everything was completed to our expectations and in some cases beyond. Chuck did a great job of always checking to make sure things were done the right way and if he thought it wasn't good enough he made sure it got done to his standards. He is without a doubt the best contractor I've ever worked with. As far as budget and timeline goes the only things that went over budget were things that we decided to change or upgrade. The timeline also went as expected. Before they even started they gave us an estimate but also told to expect some delays. We expected it to be done by the end of the summer and it was. I would most definitely recommend Empirical Construction for any project and if we need any work done in the future I'll be giving them a call.

Shortly after, I received a response from the business advising me that they did not currently have the capacity for our project. Understanding the circumstance, but also willing to wait for the right team, I responded and asked the business to let me know if that changed in the future, as we have several projects in our home and are hoping to bring the same team aboard for all of them. I then received the attached response offering a completely different explanation than before. Rather than acting with integrity, the business elected to tell a lie, as the project was likely not lucrative enough for them. I made no reference to my budget, but the business assumed I would not be interested in paying their prices. I would like to offer a two-star rating, though, as the communication was quite prompt.

The 20mil poly was now serving as a pool liner to the deluge of water that had occurred. In order to help move the water out, that liner had to be cut out and then the ground had to dry out before figuring out how to replace it. After contacting a few other companies, I met with Sebastian from HomeStrong. He walked through our crawl space (5' high) and determined how to best repair and get the place back to its original condition. We chose HomeStrong because Sebastian made us feel comfortable, showed us what we could expect and gave us a team who could get the job done the following week. And the pricing was very competitive. Also, it is a family owned company - having our own family business, we really like supporting other families with businesses too. We could not be happier with the results. The project took a little more than 3 days. The team - Daniel & Christian - took such great pride in their work that once the poly was installed, they took their shoes off every time to keep the ground clean! And the encapsulation is even BETTER than it was before. The products they use are top notch. AND the color is WHITE which makes everything look so clean!! A side note here: Not having had exposed ground under our home before, the difference in the humidity and coolness in the house was directly impacted by that exposed ground, even after drying it out for a month prior to reinstalling the encapsulation system. We had a difficult time getting the house to cool less than 73º. Once poly was replaced, the house immediately cooled down and was much more comfortable. Had no idea the impact the encapsulation had been providing! A big shout out and thank you to Sebastian, Daniel & Christian for helping us get our crawl space even better than before! Cannot say enough good things about HomeStrong - highly recommended!! (tried to add photos but it is not allowing it!)
