I visited this store July 29 to return un-used and unopened items per their return policy. The associate at 6435 Dobbin Rd, Columbia, MD, informed me to return the items to Carquest at 9301 Snowden River Pkwy, Columbia, MD, as they were originally picked up from that location. I was pressed for time and did not have the time investment to address this appropriately. However, as I researched Advance Auto return policy, I realized the associate and the supervisor provided inaccurate information and at worst simply treated me as an inconvenience. Advance auto has been my go to store for almost all my auto needs for several years. I've shopped at many advanced auto parts within the United States. Most are good however this store in my opinion is superior to all. Customer service is impeccable. Mr. Hayes the manager runs this store like a fine tuned machine. His staff members are both professional and knowledgeable. They communicate well and share their expert knowledge between theirselves and their customers. This location had what we needed...however the employee checking us out was really rude. We were purchasing lights for my daughters car...had looked up compatibility on the package, etc. When he was handed the package, he asked if the car could take LED bulbs..we said we had looked it up to which he replied "because once you open this package,it's yours." Just like most chains, not a bad place. It is nice that the location is in a shopping center so you can do multiple things at once and there is ample parking, which makes getting in and out much easier. The selection at this Advance Auto Parts is solid, and the service was ok as well. They were helpfully but not over bearing and they answered any questions I had. I would come back here for other auto related things if I was in a hurry, but I get the feeling that some of their prices are high when compared to online prices. So if you can wait, check it out online, but otherwise this is place to go. So change your oil and flush the fluids, your car needs some maintaince. read more

I had a surprisingly enjoyable experience at the Advanced Auto Parts. If you're looking for it you've got to make the first right after you come around the bend as all you really see is the backs of the stores with not much signage. I stopped in on a Monday early afternoon to pick up a car battery. It's a good sized store and they have everything you'd expect. The store was clean and well organized. There was one employee who was very helpful with my purchase and even installed my car battery for me which saved me the hassle of bother my neighbor for his tools to do it at home. The checkout was a fairly elaborate process which took about 5 minutes but luckily I wasn't in a hurry. I chatted with the guy about Nissans for a bit and then he installed my new car battery. I wish I could remember the guy's name but he was upbeat and made this experience at Advance Auto Parts a good one. It was as good change of pace from the auto store employee who seems tired and remiss to help you. read more

I have never experienced such disrespect from any cooperation as I have with this one. The employee Tony has no respect and absolutely no customer service skills. I have attempted 3 times to purchase and have my battery installed and Tony replies they are unable to install it due to short staffing. Meanwhile, the other representative is outside installing another customers battery. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. The level of unprofessionalism and disrespect is unbelievable and unbearable. Although they have honored it in the past, after a recent purchase (and being told to come back for an install) I was informed by the manager that if the install exceeds 45 minutes they won't touch it. Came here to get my battery charged after my battery being dead and ended up with my car being stuck in park and had to get my car towed . The people here did not know what the hell they were doing . I spent hours here trying to figure out why after they took my battery out of my car , charged it, and put it back in , my car wouldn't start . When it did start after hours, the shift gear would not move out of park . Had to get my car towed all the way home. They seem to not care . Called my mechanic to tell him what happened he told me that more than likely they blew my fuses when replacing my battery. Now I have to spend even more:) Please don't trust these people to even put a battery in your car . read more

While looking on shelf, counter clerk came over, found everything zip-zip online, got ones not on shelf from back, said pull over & we'll install. Second clerk took exactly 100 seconds to get old ones off & new ones on. Explained differences in brands/performance well. I used to shop here - pretty regularly for a youtube certified mechanic. Two recent incidents have made me decide not to come here any more. 1. Brakepads with lifetime warranty failed in 20k miles. Usually it takes 60k. I asked about the warranty and the rep at the counter arrogantly asked "how hard to you break?" He explained that I would need to show the pads cracked or something - otherwise - it is just your bad breaking. The pads were gone on one side, so no evidence there. What is a lifetime warranty if premature wear is not covered? 2. Today 6-1-2019, I figured I would give them another shot, perhaps I was too hard on them. Went to advance autoparts online and ordered a fuel tank pressure sensor for my son's car. Pulled the gas tank and went to the store to find that somehow the advance autoparts web site ordered the part from carquest. I had no clue where carquest is. Anyhow, they could not sell me the part from the web order. I asked if they could just match the online price and I would cancel the other order. The answer - no, you would need to go back and place it online. They will not match the price - even though it was from their own web site. I found this carquest place - it was closed. I guess it is 0.1 miles closer and the internet changed "my store" somehow. 3. Past experience with oil and filter deals at Advance can be a pain. They never carried a canister oil filter I needed for our van. I would get the oil filter for another car with the deal and move on. Finally, they stock my filter, but it was a "higher" level than the one in the "deal" (same brand though). They could not give me a discount on the filter that fits, nor could they give me just the oil at "deal" price with NO filter. I just have too many filters for my other car from this. Result: "hello Walmart." Advance has no concept of customer service. They probably don't need to since there was a line when I was just there. I suppose I will never find out if they fix the problem unless the new AutoZone is just as bad. read more

At first when you go in they don't bother the men too much about parts and if they need help but the moment i came in a guy asked did I need any help. If I need help I will ask. I didn't want to take it personal but I noticed every man came in the guys said hello and kept moving. I know about cars so I am no stranger to doing my own head gasket, etc. but today I did need help on some headlights. I wanted brighter bulbs. An older gentleman helped and was very rude he looked it up and then went to the aisle pulled them off and then rang me up. Now I specifically said what i need and type of headlights since I didn't have my glasses; needless to say he gave me the wrong ones. Not mention, he don't like people. While he was ringing me up a adult with autism had an outburst with the ball he was carrying and the man looked annoyed by the man (there several of them that day) and then said "MMMMM, what is his problem" and shook his head. I haven't been back to take the headlights back and I have learned not to ask for help because of the attitudes I get in there. I have been back to get lights and install them myself. I was just in to find out why one of the lights on my dashboard was showing up. Although they were unable to diagnose the cause, Develle, the manager at the time, was incredibly rude. He talked down to me and wouldn't even look me in the eye. When one of his coworkers tried to stand up for me, Develle told him to "stand down". The only time I will ever go to that store again is when Develle's manager is working so I can say what happened in person. read more
