I purchased a whole 8 metric M3x.50 10mm screws at $.40 each, that comes $3.20. I tried to return them, and I was treated like I was STEALING from them. "You didn't bring a receipt" "They are not on the ACE bag" "You didn't buy these here" Over $3.20???? Seriously? Now, I will make sure I will share your lack of customer service is well known by EVERYONE For a whopping $3.20 BTW, the casher was rude, she called the Manager and he was even worse!! He could NOT understand why I no longer had the flimsy baggie they put screws in and I had changed them to a more Durable, sturdy and smaller bag with a "Zip-Loc" style closure. When the manager figured out that he was loosing he turned away from me and told the cashier to give me my $3.20, I told them he could keep it, I no longer wanted the refund, if $3.20 was going to make such a large difference in his Daily Cash inflow, they are in much more trouble that I knew. I can live with $3.20 less in my pocket. Be warned, this is NOT a good establishment and their customer service is NOT there. I like ACE, but I will NEVER go back to this store. read more

I hope I get her name correct, Estella in the paint department. She spent at least 2 hours with me over the past two days trying to recreate and match a color that was more than 20 years old and a color code that had been changed at least 3 times in their system. Short of cutting a piece out of the existing wall I only had a vent screw cap to match. I am happy to say this last can of paint was a perfect match, way to go Estella. She was amazing, her knowledge and customer service couldn't have been better. read more

Wife stopped by to get a battery for her car remote. It was missimg. Battery guy said he couldnt help her. 15 second google search shows CR 2024. Wouldnt even take a sec to look it up. As a business owner I give thumbs down. Individual should be fired Get this. My wife and I bought 3 fluorescent bulbs here a few days ago. After realizing they were incorrect my wife tried to exchange them today Saturday May 10 about 3 o'clock. An exceptionally rude Hispanic clerk told my wife who is a prominent local business woman that she could not return or exchange them. What can I say about this place, it's like any other Ace Hardware. Not going to be the cheapest. But it always gets you out of a pinch. This location is conveniently located at the west side of Surprise. This area is in the middle of growing, and eventually there will probably have a big box hardware store built in this area soon. I like coming here only because I don't feel like driving to Grand for Lowe's or Home Depot. Most of the time, Ace has what I am looking for. Contacted ace corporate office and told me they would get back to my on Monday 10/19 and never heard back from them. My partner went in and the the store manager told him that he was lying about a return we had for 4 days and says "you can't just buy stuff to use for your convince and expect to return it" bad business and will never return. Let me first say that I read other reviews before posting my own. I like to see what experience they had compared to mine. It's funny that many of the poor reviews came from whiny, entitled brats that feel if they point out that they are "prominent" people, they'll get special treatment. Tell ya what, I'll give you some special treatment with a size 10 on your butt, where your head probably resides. Now...onto my review. I am new to the area and live close to this store. From day 1, I have been treated like I have shopped there for decades. I know just about everyone's name and the advice given is top notch. I live going over there to chat and feel like I'm an episode of Tool Time. Love it here and love the peeps! Keep it up because I hate getting lost in box stores and being greeted with total indifference. You guys rock!!! This is a tiny ACE Hardware. We had gone in looking for some lumber. Unfortunately they carry very little lumber. There were some small cuts in the front. Otherwise, I had asked an employee who indicate you can ask the people at the keys window and they have a limited supply but probably not any 2x4s. I call Ace that morning and asked if they would shake up some unopened cans of paint if I brought them in.They told me yes as long as they have not been opened. I brought in three cans of paint. Three associates came to me and one of them said that she could not put them on her shakers. She explained that they would most likely burst open and cause damage to their machine. Let's take into consideration that the paint is an Ace Hardware product and none of the cans had been opened. However she tells me that they could not do it. So I let her know that Walmart did not give me any problems when I had them to shake up a can for me last fall. Then she told me to go back to Walmart. So I left. I was very disappointed. Instead of Walmart I took the paint to Home Depot. And with no hesitation and no questions asked, Home Depot got the job done! To Home Depot you got another life-long customer. To Ace Hardware you need to brush up on your customer service skills. read more

This store chooses not to honor what is in the ad or doesnt even have the product. I get all the way there and they dont even have the item in the ad, nor did they bother participating in the promotion. This store has wasted my time now on several occasions. Back to Home Depot or Lowes for me, a much more reliable source. Too bad, my gumption is that people try to support the little guy including me but this is the result. I've been here 4 times since moving into the neighborhood. My first experience was great. 2nd and 3rd, not so great because Levi waited on me both times. He is a young kid who seems to be on a power trip. I found the exchanges very unpleasant. He was rude, made unreasonable demands and is off-putting. I will avoid him & this store like the plague, in the future. Second visit there he repeatedly informed me that "every cut" he made on a piece of acrylic I purchased somewhere else was going to cost me $3 for each cut. I said I understood but needed it done. He then repeated himself at least 3 more times as though he was trying to discourage me from having it done. Each time I said I understood, was happy to pay and wanted it trimmed regardless. Eventually he did it but I felt he did it under protest & charged me 3 times the price an older colleague did a few days prior. Third visit: went back and bought the acrylic sheet from them to avoid any attitudes. I watched him interfere with the pleasant older gentleman who was helping me and took the job from him just as he was getting ready to cut it for me. Levi then came around and asked if I had paid for it yet. I said no, I assumed I would pay once it was cut. He said I needed to pay first. I said ok and started to walk to front to pay but he stopped me & handed me the sheet of acrylic to carry up front to pay for it, despite my hands being full of outdoor lights I was also planning to buy. I asked if I had to carry it up front just to bring it right back again & his answer was yes, without any offer to assist me with all the items already in my arms plus this large piece of acrylic I now have added. I was so angry now after 2 unpleasant encounters that I turned back to him to ask if he was the manager (since he was trying to act like a "boss") & he responded no. At that moment I was so angry I was going to report him to the manager but eventually cooled down enough to forget about him. Once he cut the acrylic for me he handed me the 2 pieces in the requested size. I asked if there was a leftover piece since the original piece was much larger than needed. He responded "well, if I you want it, I can get it". His response and facial expression conveyed he thought I was being cheap and petty by asking for the full item that he insisted I had to pay for, prior to cutting it. Strike 2 for me and I just won't deal with him anymore, so I'll avoid going. He is not an asset to this location read more

A very pleasant and helpful lady, Rhonda, told me to just stay where I was and she went to the other end of the store and brought back just what I needed.....and it was quite inexpensive. I seem to stop here every time I am in the neighborhood and/or looking for those items I just can't seem to find elsewhere. So far, I've had pretty friendly, helpful service. A few have gone out of their way to find me addresses of other places that might provide me with the service they didn't provide. There have been a few instances where I didn't feel warm & fuzzies. I was somewhat put off. I am an older, independent female who lives alone and takes care of most things around my house. I've used tools my entire 36 yr career. A time or two I was, basically, told here is where you might find it and they walked off. I, then asked about a product or two and how they worked only to be made to feel I was asking for too much. All in all, though, most people have been very friendly, lighthearted, and helpful. Usually, I feel I'm walking in to an ol' corner hardware store from the old neighborhood, from days of yore!!! I AM 60!!! I've been in the store enough times, now, most know me by face. AND, they always seem to have some smokin' sale of the day you just can't beat. I wind up buying it, along with a lot of other cute things you won't see in another store. I can spend upwards of $100 each time I go, when I first came in looking for some particular kind of screws, or transformer!!!!! I have an ACE store a tad closer to my house, but being this is Sun City, somehow, it seems to have some extra nice things retirees out here might like!!!!
