I received a coupon in the mail for $10 off for a purchase of $20 or more for moving into the neighborhood. I was looking to buy a trash can to put my recycling in. Online I found a Rubbermaid 32 gallon black can with wheels. This was a good deal. I didn't put the coupon code when I bought it online. I had to go to the back office and they had to cancel my order and then go up to the front and pay using the coupon. That was pretty silly. I then went to pick up the can. I had to go to the back of the store . One of the helpers went into where they store the online merchandise. He came back with the can and handed me a brand new can that had streaks of dust and dirt all over. It's not a big deal but I thought to myself, you would think the store would take some pride in keeping their products looking clean and new. Ace is a small outfit trying to compete with Low's and Home Depot. You would think customer service would be paramount in getting new business. They didn't win me over. read more

My first issue is this store is "ALWAYS CLOSED" when I have a project, this is the only tool store I know that closes so early on a weekday. when I am able to stop in I feel since I am younger that I don't get greeted like the older crowd does? Kinda like since I'm not in my 60's the older employers look at me like I'm not worth talking to?? Well as sad as it is, the new Home Depot off 303 is open till 10:00 pm and most of their staff is younger and acknowledges me and my wife. If ace hardware stays the way it is, one day it will close just like block buster did ‍ please do better. read more

Absolutely disappointing experience with custom blinds customer service and management at Ace Hardware in Surprise. I paid $148 for two blinds, and when the new ones came back, they didn't fit.. To make matters worse, they didn't return my original blind frame, making it impossible to prove their sizing mistake. Security footage can prove that. When we tried to resolve it, there was nothing they could do, instead offered us a number to their third party to resolve it with them...So we had to eat the cost! We ended up spending another $98 to by parts to try and fix their error and still have ill-fitting blinds. This is unacceptable customer service for steep prices and a complete failure. Avoid Ace Hardware in Surprise for custom blind repairs at all cost! read more

Helpful Ace Hardware employees. I'm always greeted and asked if I need assistance finding items. Checkout ladies are friendly and efficient, too. Love this store as I find just what I need each and every time I shop. read more

I visit quite frequently for odds and ends. Patio, BBQ, hardware items etc. It can be a very busy store often. They are always intentional calling cashiers up when needed to keep people moving fast. Steven is 9ne of the best peeps here. He is calm and helpful. Just kicks back and does a great job at what he was hired to do. I like how the hardware section has boards up with bolts and inserts for screws so you can bring what you need if you have a size and see where if fits and to get exactly what you need. It also give you the numbers to make them easy to find. Cleaning products are quite pricy here along with some other items. read more

This Ace is is the antithesis of what the Ace brand has always been about . I have visited many times because of the convenience. Sad tosay , my personal experience has been mixed at best. Usually I have to search for someone to help . More time than not ,the workers are unfriendly and unhelpful. Prices are way too high but again, I somewhat expect this in return for the convenience. If you buy something that is not right ,you can forget about returning it. Buyer beware read more

Would NOT recommend this location, it's not worth the aggregation. Most the staff is rude and unhelpful. Especially in the paint department. If you like Ace drive to other locations as you will leave this one disappointed. read more

I used to shop a lot at the Ace Hardware store by our home in St. Louis, Missouri but since we've been living here near surprise, I've not been as impressed with this store. Although their selection is good, I have found the employees to not be very friendly. They are helpful when you have a question but nobody smiles or greets you or welcomes you or asks if there's anyway they can help you. Also, I echo the comment of another reviewer who had issues with their bathroom policy. I can understand the owners response that they only have the two bathrooms, but if they were really concerned about their customers, they would find a way to remodel and add another bathroom for the staff so that the customers could use the restroom as well. So, in closing, inventory is good, but they have some work to do on truly excellent customer service. read more

A little irritated with Ace Hardware in Surprise, AZ. The store is close to my home so I shop there occasionally for home project stuff. Home Depot and Lowes are further down Bell road. I've shopped at ACE many times over the years and in different states. The store manager Daniel Corpus has a store policy that customers can't use the restroom. I found that odd because of the size of store it is. I shopped for years at Ace in Boulder City, NV, much smaller store and never had that issue. The guy at the register heavy guy, beard, with glasses informed me that the store doesn't have public restrooms, now I had to go bad and he proceeded to ask me all the ridiculous questions at the register they always ask and I told him please hurry I have to use the restroom and you won't let me use the stores. I really think this is a miss on customer service at this building. I hope the manager Daniel Corpus kinda looks at this policy of his and thinks about customers first. I'm so irritated that i'm going to return all my items after typing this review and goto to Home Depot down the street. read more

I have been here multiple times and have had encounters with different employees and they are not very friendly. They are not welcoming. When being checked out they don't do the common customer service interactions suck as how are you, did you find everything ok, and dont ask me if i have a phone number for the rewards program. I have to tell them i have a phone number. They all seem to be the same way. It is starting to make me hate cooking to this location and just start going to another location down the street. When no one is welcoming it makes you feel uncomfortable read more

This store is convenient however most items are not competitively priced. When I asked if they offer veterans a discount I was given a firm and curt "NO"! So I may have to drive a ways to their competitor but I will as I enjoy a 10% veteran discount. read more

This is a good store to shop, any store you go to if they are not trained you will have a bad experience. Just remember the people you may be taking to might be new or not fully trained. I had to get some paint for a remodel I was doing and I took the Home Depot paint in to get matched. They did a great job and the service from the lady who helped me in the paint department was awesome, I would recommend this store over Home Depot or Lowe's even those Ace is a national company like HD or Lowe's they are locally owned and run. I prefer to support locally owned companies read more

My daughter and I had to go to the hardware store several times in one day for one project! Most of the trips I sent my teenage by herself and the staff treated her very well. This store always seems to have exactly what I am looking for--from the hard-to-find address lights for Sun City Grand to matching paint colors for touch-ups. Most of the staff is very knowledgeable and understand what you are looking for, especially with plumbing and electrical parts. While not my preferred hardware store, Ace is still a great little spot! I have been here maybe 5 times since I moved into the neighborhood. If I need something quick, and don't feel like driving down to Home Depot, I stroll by here. Prices are decent, and my favorite part of the store are the employees! Every single time I have been in there, I have had multiple people ask me what I was looking for and helped me find stuff. Great customer service...way better than Home Depot! They don't carry everything, but for the most part, they have what you need. It's good to know that this place is just a few minute drive from my house. I know for sure that I will be back! read more

Just had a wonderful experience at ACE HARDWARE on Bell Road in Surprise. Just a quick thank you to Kevin and Devon. I was in the process of working on a project and needed some conduit. They helped me match the size to the pipes and cut them. They even suggested some rubber caps for the ends. Their total commitment, knowledge and professionalism should be recognized. Thank you all at ACE!!! read more

A few months back I went into Ace Hardware to buy a clear hose. Dan was there to help me. As I pointed out the hose I wanted, he asked me how much I needed, & how I planned to use it. I mentioned I needed a length that could reach from my drain at the top of the exterior wall Because it was dripping & messing up my tile below. He immediately told me to contact my AC professional Because he was sure there was a problem with our unit. He went on to explain that dripping from the bottom drain on the wall was normal condensation, but dripping from the upper drain means the drain is clogged or damaged. We called our AC professional & sure enough our AC unit needed to be replaced. We're very thankful for Dan & his help. He didn't just blindly sell me an item which would have been wrong in the long run. The Ace team has always been ready to help us, & we are very grateful. Ron & Lynette Surprise, AZ read more

Went in to find a specific battery that no other stores seemed to carry anymore. When I walked in I didn't see anyone st the main counter to ask for assistance and had to walk to the very back of the store before I saw another employee. When I asked where the batteries were he just pointed and basically left me trying to follow his direction by estimating the area he pointed . Then once I was able to find what I was looking for and went to purchase it a younger lady working the counter barely interacted, never asked if I needed help with anything else and never looked up. I think if you're going to work customer service and be the first site and line of defense for customers you can at least look up at who you're helping, putting a smile on your face or even saying hello would be a plus, but hey that's my opinion. read more

Have visited this Ace location many times in the past few years. Recently went into store and noticed a sign saying no restrooms are available to the public. When asking a checkout person why the restrooms were now closed, she muttered something about having customer problems in the rest rooms so assumed it's a cleaning problem. If this is the reason, apparently management at this location hasn't heard of, 'the price of doing business'. Having a large store open to the public, it makes a great deal of sense to provide these amenities or risk losing customers. Very disappointing. read more

Some of the employees are very nice and very knowledgeable. Some are not happy campers! We keep getting discount cards, because they use our data from their Ace Rewards system. They are very absolute in using the applicable discount. IE: if your items are $29.60 and the $5.00 discount is only good for purchases over $30.00 (no discount); I guess I get that. The other day we needed some Traeger (pellet grill smoker) items, and the total was over $40.00. BUT the small print on the back of the $5.00 discount card said "not applicable on Traeger items". So, from now on I do my hardware and Traeger shopping at one of the big box stores, because they give me a 10% military discount, each and every time with no restrictions. Good news is, I'll save money! read more

I recently had an issue with one on the services offered at this Ace. The result was not what I expected and not what I paid for. Is store is awful! If you call to see if they have something they are completely rude. And when you go and buy something try it and it's crappy then bring it back with your receipt they question you on why your returning it. Then gives you the guilt trip that they have to now throw it away since your returning it. I've never been treated like that at Home Depot or Lowe's. Also it wasn't a one time thing it was multiple times it happened. read more

I am just amazed at the reviews by customers that feel like the employees here at Ace are racist! I am a Hispanic and Asian mix and all the people at Ace are very helpful and friendly to me ! I love coming to this Ace Hardware. I am greeted by a "hello" when I come in. I get asked by an associate if I need help and everyone is so nice. Since Ace Hardware is just down the street from our home, I come here quite a bit. Unless I want to save some money, I'll take the time to visit Lowe's or Home Depot. I have been using this store as my go to for paint and paint supplies. It's much pricier than the big box stores but I thought it would be good to support a locally owned business. Let me tell you I will never step foot in that store again. I had the absolute worst experience I have ever had in a retail store. They mixed the wrong paint in the middle of my project. When I went in to purchase the same color I had been using I was told they have two of the same color and same color name in the system but that it's the exact same formula. Ok, I thought no big deal. Well I was wrong. The color was completely different . I went back in the store to see if they could remake the paint and I was told they don't have anymore of that paint. I asked for a refund so I could go buy it at another store and a woman came running over , I'm guessing she was some sort of store assistant manager and started lecturing me on the store policy and asked if I have read the signs. I have spent $$$$$ so much money in that Ace Surprise location, it was unbelievable how she spoke to me. It became heated , I left and went to the Ace in Sun City West. Wow, what a difference! They were so nice and helpful, they remixed the paint, even opened the paint area for me after they had closed it down due to being close to the store closing time. They could not have been more helpful and this was not even their mistake! I will definitely make the drive a few extra miles to patron this location. If you want to be ripped off and talked down to please go ahead and shop at the Ace in Surprise. If you prefer a more pleasant experience go to the Sun City West Ace location! read more

Ace Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Surprise, Arizona

I've been to this Ace a few times since I've moved to the area and today was the last time. I went in to get a nut for a screw, which I thought would be easy enough to get. I'm aware that the screw is a wood screw, but I was attaching a hook type latch to my screen to keep an escape artist toddler in the house. I just needed something to keep it from coming out. As with other times I've been in there, the employees seemed more concerned with talking to each other rather than helping customers. I approached two older men employees--one behind the counter to make keys and the other standing in front of it chatting it up with him. I showed them the screw and started to explain that I needed a nut for it and the one in front of the counter talked over me to say it's a wood screw and I don't need a nut for the wood screw because it goes into the wood. Thanks for the lesson, but had he not cut me off, he would've heard what I needed. I tried again, but this time they both cut me off saying there are no nuts to fit those screws and laughed. I asked, "So no nuts at all will fit this?" They laughed again and said no before telling me once more it's a wood screw. I turned around and walked out, but as I walked away, they were laughing again. I will not go back after this. They were no help at all. I had to drive 15 minutes each way to Home Depot, but I found what I needed. Now my door is toddler-proof and that's all I needed. Forget this Ace though...I've been to other Ace Hardware stores and everyone was helpful, but this one never is. Save yourself the misery. read more

So I came into ace at about 4:20 not realizing they closed at 4:30. I was going to get some paint and a nice women was helping me with getting the paint mixed. Well she was having trouble finding the exact base we needed but she was still trying her best to help me. As soon at it turned 4:30 and old grouchy man came up and looked at her and said "really"? And began to rush her along to get me out of there. She got so flustered she just told me they didn't have what I needed and didn't offer me any other solutions. Seems to me that in a time like this where smaller places like ace need your business it is important to help your customers even if it takes you 5 minutes past closing time. That old man needs to be fired because he clearly does not care about customers or helping people at all. There are thousands of people losing their jobs right now who could take his place and be happy and thankful to be there and most importantly willing to help the customers. I won't be going back to ace even though it is right across the street from my house. I'll make the trek down to home depot where they care about their customers and I encourage all of you to as well!! read more
